LOL) and the fact that Islam's Allah is in fact etymologically and archeologically identifiable as that same "Baal," this reads that a proto-Islam was mocked directly by a prophet of God in the Bible.

Mockery to demonstrate a falsehood and foolishness is a fine Biblical tradition.

The fact that pederasty is a custom in Islamic lands probably kills the humor of advocating a gay bar next to a mosque. It'd just be a convenience store of a different sort for them.

No, this is the time for rank and file union members to show they're actually worth a damn. As I wrote on Beak's blog:

Try building ANYTHING in NYC without employing unionized contractors. It's not going to happen.

Now, given that whoever builds this atrocity will be union workers, we can already presume it won't be built on time, won't be built within budget, and most distinctly won't be built with any caliber resembling quality.

When the thing is finally built, after months of objecting union members taking out sick leave, claiming emotional distress and filing worker's compensation claims from working on this atrocity, and when the thing finally has a roof to cap off the mildew and mold encrusted wall interiors from the project being rained upon, and the electrical systems having been exposed to the elements for a few seasons as union racket building delays continue, the damned thing will finally have to pass building and fire safety code inspections who very well may be suddenly become sticklers for quality when it comes to union work and condemn the monstrousity before it's ever opened for business.

I'm wondering how many union carpenters and ironworkers and bricklayers and electricians and plumbers will actually show up for work to build this eyesore (and earsore, if / when they're finally blaring the sound of a goat being sodomized over loudspeakers five times a day in downtown Manhattan)and how shoddy the workmanship will be at its completion.

The damned thing may just fall down all on its own the first Friday someone turns on the wrong sequence of light switches.

I'm not real worried that it will stand very long if it ever stands at all.

In this instance, unions will be good for something.

To that I would add, unionized firemen, the "brothers" of those that died in the collapse of the towers, are going to consider the mosque up to code, or nitpick it to death? Unionized police officers, "brothers" of those that died when the towers collapsed, are going to go out of their way to protect the structure from attack?

There's fantasy, and there's what's gonna happen.(((Thought Criminal)))https://www.blogger.com/profile/17311656184275255223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5516627478339613810.post-81136268755675399242010-08-13T20:08:16.284-07:002010-08-13T20:08:16.284-07:00Tio, yes, I "think" my readers are both....Tio, yes, I "think" my readers are both..Obviously, I thought you meant THE RED EYE bunch!! I read the post. I read the comments. I thought conservatives/Christians and gay bars / strip clubs sure make strange bedfellows. I realize it was a joke--a funny one as I said in the original post. I also realize that jokes have some element of truth (cf. FrogBurger). Other than being the scorn of Islam, these two bedfellows have little that would unite them.

The idea that the gay bar has virtue because it is detested by Muslims made me think of the Medved piece that said Jews are attracted to liberalism because it is not Christian conservatism. That article had made me think of how easy it is for Christians to define ourselves as what we are not (we don't steal, we don't cheat, we don't sleep around) rather than what we are (reconciled children of God). I do the same thing in sports--I'll cheer for the Celtics on their sole virtue of not being the Lakers (sorry, Z, it's true). So I see a recurring theme, in myself and other people, of defining virtue as the lack of badness. Then I came across the Augustine stuff that states the opposite. Goodness is not the absence of badness; badness is the absence of goodness.

Well, that's the string of thoughts that linked liberal Jews, Augustine, and gay bars. I'm not sure what the final conclusion is, which is why I was inviting someone else to run with the idea: analyze it, critique it, modify it--or call me a leftist who should be sodomized while he is damning everyone around him. Either way.

Yes, jokes have an element of truth, including the bit Bill Schulz does on Red Eye where he sarcastically says, "I was reading on republican outrage dot com..."

tioAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5516627478339613810.post-57455259730370621152010-08-13T19:09:06.526-07:002010-08-13T19:09:06.526-07:00WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama on Friday...WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama on Friday forcefully endorsed building a mosque near ground zero, saying the country's founding principles demanded no less.

"As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country," Obama said, weighing in for the first time on a controversy that has riven New York and the nation.

"That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances," he said. Christians are not to indulge in crude jokes either. In reality I have to say no, no gay bars no matter what the effect on the mosque. No strip joints etc either.
