This should have been my very first post because it is so important, but it is my second: I want to thank Elmer's Brother, for putting my blog together. If any of you think I could have managed this computer feat by myself, I thank you for your confidence in me even as I laugh myself silly! He was patient, untiring, kind and so encouraging! Thank you, EB!
The photo is one from my wonderful husband's walks on the Santa Monica bluffs...thank you, Werner! For the photo and your support in every single thing I do except turn the heater on at night.
The inspiration for this blog comes from EB, who thinks I have something to say, what a blessing he is; the enthusiasm for this blog is contributed by Jean in West Virginia, whose friendship and support always feel so good. Jean also thinks I can change voters' hearts before the '08 election. I sincerely hope so. (that would be change their hearts away from McCain, please, God...if I'm really lucky, with friends who'd like to chime in here, we can change some hearts from Hillary or Obama to the Republican candidate....this is a Conservative's blog, why beat around the bush?)

Yes, I do think that voter's hearts can change. Mountains that are hard to climb are surely more difficult than just getting people to come around.
Most people gravitate toward rightness and the good, man is mostly a good creature.
And yes, even Democrats have hearts.
Let us appeal to the goodness in them, and the love that they must have in them for their homeland.

Yes, even Democrats have hearts...we need to remind them that we do, too.
Something tells me that climbing that mountain might be easier than making a Democrat vote Republican this year, but I like your sentiment, Jean.
Man is mostly a good creature. Because of who made mankind. You're right.
thanks.
.....except turn the heater on at night....
If I was Werner I'd just give you another blanket
I don't want the government to care about me at all. That's what privately owned firearms are for.
I know, that's old skool conservatism.
What I meant to say was "grits dummy good."
CONGRATULATIONS!
and welcome aboard - the ride is sometimes exhilarating and at other times just dayamed dangerous - regardless, you enjoy yourself and leave the "bad" to beamish, elbro and me...
hehehe...

Thanks, nanc..Thanks Beamish..
I'm honored to have you here!
Mr. Beamish, if you could see some of the libs at Frontpagemag saying how much the government SHOULD do you'd be getting that firearm out TODAY and driving over to their homes! ARGH!!
stick around, people!
You're trying to get them to change their vote from (D) to (R)?
I just try and convince them NOT to vote. ;-)
Welcome to the right side of the blogosphere, z!
Farmer JOHN! Thanks for the welcome. I'm honored to have you and so many great bloggers here!
come back soon...I've got lots of ideas.

Congratulations Z....nice start to what may wind up to be competition for FPM? Hope we don't lose all your insights at FPM though.
Imp
Hey, Imp, thanks for being here! Now it feels like home! Any insights I might have will be here...a good argument I save for FPM posters! Hopefully, we'll get some of those going here, too. thanks.
Sorry Z,
While I am still undecided, I am currently leaning toward McCain. You, or anyone here, are welcome to try to sway me.
I actually went to his senate site, and read for myself his comments on the tax issue, the Guantanamo issue, the Marriage Amendment etc. And, by and large, I agree with him. If you bother to read his statement on the floor of the Senate with regards to the tax cuts and spending, every thing he said would happen, has. He has railed consistently against pork, he was on record more than four years ago about how the process of earmarks/pork bypass proper procedure..Bush just got around to it yesterday.
Here's some links to specific comments and to his Senate site:
McCain rails against pork spending, the need to fund our military better, and the bad economy long before anyone else is admitting the problem.

McCain in 2004 AGAIN talking about the out of control spending during a time of war and high deficits and the strain that places on the taxpayer.

This is not demanding any particular action, but asking for clarification, no doubt because they are being asked by their constituents. Given the fact that McCain was a POW, I do not find in remarkable that he would feel that the actions should be clear and straight forward and not left up in the air with no end in sight. I don't think that is quite the same as bringing them here. He says as war criminals which would not be our court system, or sending them to their home countries for the judicial process. Afghanistan and Iraq both have prison and judicial systems in place. In any case, not quite what Limbaugh was suggesting.

On the Marriage Amendment, I think he supports his vote eloquently and I agree with his assessment.

This IS the statement made on the floor of the Senate when 'debate' about the upcoming proposal for tax cuts.

When the actual vote for cuts came up he had offered an amendment he would have been willing to compromise on with giving MORE of a break to the middle class, splitting it with the upper class and corporations. Who's moving to vote for Obama and Hillary and why? Middle class Americans of ALL parties, because they are not feeling the 'benefits' of the tax cuts…they have not trickled down sufficiently and his previous forecast above was DEAD ON RIGHT. Plus, the spending cost Reps in 06.
He didn't JUST decide for this election to join the global warming issue, he's on record with another leadership role example in 2003. AND, read it, it was a close vote with bipartisan support that would not have cost the citizens but about $20 per household and was projected to bring about jobs and stimulus to the economy, and would have saved us about $48 billion a year...wow, what a bad man.

There is plenty at the site under Press Releases or Legislation for those who want to look for themselves as opposed to just getting the portion the media want them to have.

Feel free to offer my information on Romney, the only other real contender left. It just seems to me that middle class Rep. are leaving the party in droves because they didn't feel the tax relief..had McCain's Amendment with greater relief for them been passed...who knows what the state of the party and the economy would be in now...
