SNOW IN NEW YORK......who can we blame?

I've been sick and watching a LOT of news;   As I've watched the criticism of how the recent blizzard in NYC was handled, I keep wondering how much we can blame the city for some of the things that happened?  I heard a baby died and there were heart attack victims nobody could get to.    HORRID things happened!

I wonder how much we can blame the city when it's literally impossible to get through a blizzard and impossible to clear the amount of snow away as quickly as people would have liked?  Blizzards don't happen often and it seems tough to expect perfect precision, every call responded to as it comes in, etc etc..........maybe I'd feel differently if I wasn't a California girl who doesn't have much of a clue about snow.

Just how much can we blame the city?  What are your feelings on this?

The Obama Birth Certificate AGAIN? They're too BUSY?

SO, the new governor of Hawaii, a friend of Obama's parents from way back then, insists he knows Obama was born in Hawaii.  GOOD...let the whole darned thing GO, show the proof, tell us what you know and BE DONE WITH IT! FINALLY!   Now that someone says he can prove Obama was born in Hawaii, he's too busy?  Check this out from THIS article!:

"The newly elected governor will ask the state attorney general's office and health officials about how he can make public more of Obama's birth documentation from Aug. 4, 1961, spokeswoman Donalyn Dela Cruz said Tuesday.
"He had a friendship with Mr. Obama's parents, and so there is a personal issue at hand," Dela Cruz said. "Is it going to be done immediately? No, the first thing on our list is the economy."

The new governor seems outraged that there are so many still questioning the darned birth certificate but he's addressing the economy first?  Are they kidding?  Then just shut up about it.........when your economy's humming, please let us know what you know, okay? (Does that sound right to you?:-)  Can this guy multitask?

Then the article says "It's unclear what (Gov) Abercrombie could do because Hawaii's privacy laws have long barred the release of a certified birth certificate to anyone who doesn't have a tangible interest."   WHAT?  Wouldn't legality of a sitting president be of some 'tangible interest?'
The Governor goes on to say the following to the Los Angeles Times this week: "What bothers me is that some people who should know better are trying to use this for political reasons."  REALLY?  Who even talks about it anymore!?   We all know there are even Democrat operatives who doubt the American birth of this president, this isn't all about politics, this is about TRUTH.

I wish the whole thing would go away...Governor Abercrombie could, apparently, dispel all doubts...........but he's too busy?   :-)    Has a president's birth certificate ever been sealed to the public, by the way?   Just curious.........I'd sure like this new governor to put an end to the guessing.......

Political Gaffes........mostly Republican? naaaa

TOP FIVE BIGGEST POLITICAL GAFFES OF 2010:   Michael Steele, Christine O'Donnell, Mark Kirk, Joe Wilson, and (are you sitting down?) Richard Blumenthal, the only Democrat.    I got to thinking..........maybe you all can write a realistic list of Democrats who had some pretty hefty gaffes in 2010, too, and tell us what they were?  I think so.   Give it a try!  Make your list as long as you'd like...this should be good.

Is JOY the greatest gift of Christmas?

I saw Cardinal Donald Wuerl of New York City on television this morning.   The interviewer asked him about the message of Christmas and Wuerl said it's the time when we "bring out the best in each other in our pluralistic society"...."the message we transmit is love and joy".   He mentioned how we must 'share the Gospel'..............um, but he never did.

While many religious leaders will share the main tenets of their individual faiths when asked, some cannot bring themselves to mention salvation, the true message of the Christian Gospel.   How much more impact that would have had...an honest answer to the truth of Christianity, the number one tenet so much more life-altering and important than joy and love.   Joy and love are wonderful, of course, please don't comment about how I must not appreciate those things, that's just silly and we all know that! :-)   What hit me is a reticence to share the Truth of Jesus Christ. (surely a Cardinal must think it's the Truth?!)

Nobody has to believe in Him, nobody's holding a gun to anybody's head to change their religion, we all understand that..........but when a man so high in the cloth, so to speak, is asked about his faith, I'd think it's his right and privilege to share his Truth, something that could have made a real difference in a listener's life, maybe two listeners!?   All faiths talk of joy and love, only one talks about Salvation through the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  This is more 'religious' a post than I usually do, but this morning's situation really got me thinking:  Could telling the real TRUTH bring more people to Him or are we so afraid to actually suggest Christ is THE way that we'd rather couch it in sweeter, less convicting, more palatable, watered-down language?

Anybody want to share some thoughts on this?  Thanks.

President Obama in Hawaii......on vacation

The following quotes got me from THIS ARTICLE:

"On the president's reading vacation reading list: "President Reagan: The Role of a Lifetime," Lou Cannon's biography of the Republican president.
The president's vacation won't be all rest and relaxation. He was to be briefed by advisers daily, and he also planned to spend time working on his State of the Union address, scheduled in January, and a staff review headed by interim chief of staff Pete Rouse"

A book about Reagan....please, God, let some of Reagan rub off on Mr. Obama.
And then the press reminds us that his trip "won't be all rest and relaxation...he'll be briefed..."   But, when Mr. Bush vacationed, it was all about "There he goes again.."    The hypocrisy never stops.

Well, I wish him and his family a Merry Christmas.   I wish you one, too.

Share your ornament stories

What we put on our tree might say a lot about us ..... Do you have a special ornaments or a few of them, which you couldn't miss putting on your tree?  You can see a picture of five year old me in a kitch rhinestone starburst that my sis gave me years ago, you can see my Goddaughter peering out from the greenery, you can see at least one White House ornament (the Christmas tree), a little angel from Rome, you see a musical staff, you see a little Mary holding the baby Jesus, a little of the paper garland I made while living in Paris to decorate our tree there because I hadn't brought our ornaments, there's an ornament a friend gave us with Paris sites on it...and you see a cross and a red, white and blue heart right there at the top.........and that's only a tiny part of that big tree, although this picture was taken in 2008,  I don't put up a full size tree anymore...........tell us what ornaments mean a lot to you!  Thanks
I found a picture of our Paris 2001 tree!  I'm glad I did........it was so beautiful and with all homemade decorations!  How I loved that huge makeshift tree...............I've mentioned a few things about it in the Comments Section...Enjoy.........
Here is the staff from Le Victor Hugo Cafe, what I referred to as our "local"......I met girlfriends for wine there before our husbands were expected home for dinner at around 8 or 8:30, Mr and Mrs Z went there for breakfast on special mornings when the Chef (in the striped sweater) would cook for us.....well, suffice it to say that, later, I'll tell you about this amazing staff of people.........blow by blow!!    Makes me homesick just looking at them!  I"ll tell you why they're all drinking champagne, too..........later :-)

Swedish Cartoon.......

This one's from Sweden.  You can see how THEY see what's happening............watch it roll, all that promise the idiots in America had while they voted for a man with no experience, who they knew almost nothing about (and still don't), who, among other nightmares, blames Republicans for the Dream Act's going down and that the Republicans played politics when that enormously important bill was never brought up ONCE until the vote; now THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is POLITICS.  God bless us all................God, catch that halo and put it on someone who deserves it.  Amen.

NURU..Sunday Faith Blog

The usual headlines are showing up in the press this time of year, like FIVE WAYS TO SURVIVE THE HOLIDAY SEASON...  This is the one time I don't mind them saying HOLIDAY instead of CHRISTMAS, though Christmas is very obviously inferred in the article.   From experience, I know that you'll see a lot of these articles coming up, as if Christmas is the biggest darned chore to get through and your heart will be broken and you'll be lonely and you'll be miserable.......and, "Oh GOD, when will CHRISTMAS FINALLY BE OVER?"  Then there are the DANGERS of Christmas HERE!  Yikes...is it physically or emotionally safe to celebrate Christmas? :-)
This year, if anybody knows how Christmas can be difficult, I do (having lost Mr. Z 14 months ago), but I can see that, even through all my very unhappy times today as I remember sweet things we did together, or I see something that suddenly prompts a happy memory never to be relived, while I mourn and feel LOUSY for a while, I know that there are so many wonderful things about this season, cooking special things, a gorgeous shining tree, seeing smiling faces when gifts are opened, the lovely music,  the gleeful children, etc .......and, if we look to the true reason for the season, there is no need to feel the best we can do is "try to SURVIVE" this wonderful time....
I hope we can all work toward staying focused on the happiness and promise that's really Christmas.

"...the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God."  John 16:27

GIVE SOMETHING NEEDED!  YOU will feel better and the GROUP will feel better and those they help will feel FAR BETTER from this Season of Giving.
Especially this Christmas, please donate to NURU, the group I told you about recently.  They have found enthusiastic donors who will match, dollar for dollar, your gift, no matter how small or large. I feel like anything I spend for someone is appreciated but is it really used?  Here is a way to give to your loved ones, and to the world, a gift people CAN really use!  How about writing the following in a Christmas card to your friends and family?:

"This Christmas, instead of gifts none of us necessarily need in our abundant world, I've donated money to an organization called NURU which brings the hope of an escape from poverty and the tools to do so to people who deserve the chance...With love and blessings...Merry Christmas!"

I'm going to.  Thanks.

The Left shows a side that's frightening and sad

HERE is a Huffington Post article and video whose associated comments will be hard for you to read.
A camel hurts people and the article only says "don't worry, no animals were hurt" and "I feel sorry for the camel", to say nothing of the comments that are so smugly God-hating.  The comments are even more difficult to read.  Make sure you read a "Huffington Community Moderator" who obviously saw what was happening and decided she'd better say something humane.
This is how bad the leftwing has become......it's almost unbearable to think how disdainful secularists and others on the left have become.

Bill Clinton takes over the presidency again......

Bill Clinton seems to have taken over the presidency for a while!
Take a look at this the video of Obama telling the press, at a press conference, that he's been keeping the First Lady waiting for half an hour, so he's leaving and Bill's taking over to answer questions.

Don't want to make MICHELLE mad!!
Obama leaves a press conference to be with Michelle at some Christmas party.........WHAT?  Except, this was NOT a scheduled press conference...read THIS amazing article......the 2 presidents met in private and then had to look for reporters to talk to........had to get someone to unlock the conference room doors!
I don't know...I suppose things come up, but this seems, well......unseemly, to me!
BY the way, is Obama feeling a little impotent these days....?   Read THIS.  He brought in Clinton to sell the tax plan to Democrats!  WHAT is going ON?
Imagine if Bush had done this and how the media would have reacted instead of how they did?
"Obama said it was a "terrific meeting" and then yielded to Clinton. The voluble former president took center stage, and Obama left part-way through his remarks, saying he had holiday parties to attend."
Here's what I think they'd have said if Bush had done what Obama did:  "BUSH leaves press conference on taxes to stand by impatient wife Laura at holiday party, is the tax plan so unimportant to him?"  You could make bet on that.

Charlie...STAY HOME!?

The Brits have reason to be angry at those marching in the streets and destroying property in protest to having to pay higher tuition, but when the headlines read "Royal Attack Prompts Big Questions on UK Security", I wonder who should be asking the big questions?
My question would be "What kind of security force would know that thousands of people are on a rampage and yet allow the Prince of Wales to drive through town in a limousine?"
Wouldn't you think they might have advised ol' Charlie "stay home, things are tough out there...?"

Don't you agree?

Boy, if THIS hasn't some truth to it!

Well, wadda ya know? The NY Times takes a stand :-)

The New York Times..."Serving the public interest!"   You can't make this stuff up, can you:
"The documents appear to have been acquired illegally and contain all manner of private information and statements that were never intended for the public eye, so they won't be posted here."—New York Times, on the Climategate emails, Nov. 20, 2009.
"The articles published today and in coming days are based on thousands of United States embassy cables, the daily reports from the field intended for the eyes of senior policy makers in Washington. . . . The Times believes that the documents serve an important public interest, illuminating the goals, successes, compromises and frustrations of American diplomacy in a way that other accounts cannot match."—New York Times, on the WikiLeaks documents, Nov. 29, 2010.

Minority parents want BETTER....VIVA!

Parents in a largely minority area near Los Angeles are speaking up!  THIS made my day.
Here is a bit from the article:

Ismenia Guzman frets that her 6-year-old daughter is at least a year behind in reading. Victor Barela is worried that his fifth-grade grandson still doesn't know his multiplication and division tables. And Shemika Murphy is determined that her younger daughter get a better education than her older one, who seemed to be doing well in elementary school only to bring home Ds and Fs in middle school.
Together, they and scores of other families whose children attend struggling McKinley Elementary School in Compton plan the first test of a new law that allows parents to force sweeping changes at the state's lowest-performing schools.
On Tuesday, they intend to present a petition signed by 61% of McKinley parents that would require the Compton Unified School District to bring in a charter company to run the school. Charter schools are independently operated public schools.

"Ismenia Guzman, Victoria Barela, Shemika Murphy"...minority names all fighting for their children to be taught better.   I salute you!   Here's more:

"I know it's never been done before, but I want to step up because I'm a parent who cares about my children and their education," Murphy said Monday. She and other parents were meeting with organizers from Parent Revolution, a nonprofit that lobbied successfully last year for the so-called parent-trigger law.
Organizers say the law and the Compton effort represent a paradigm shift in putting children first and giving their parents a decisive voice in demanding better schools.

Oh, but the UNIONS ARE NOT HAPPY (SURPRISE!)
But the mobilization at McKinley has raised concerns. Two school board members and a district spokesman said they were not aware of the petition drive before being contacted Monday by the media, and the state teachers union criticized the effort's low profile.   Here's more good news:

Organizers said the effort at McKinley would be the first of many in California and nationwide. The state allows for 75 such conversions, and other parent-trigger laws are in various stages in other states.

Minority parents are speaking up..........they've supported Bilingual education, maybe they'll finally put that aside, too, so their kids can STOP the chain of being cleaning girls and low-paid gardeners because their English isn't good.
THIS is what Conservatism wants............opportunity for all legals and a way to break from unions which are doing more harm than good.   GET AHEAD, Minority Americans....we need you to SUCCEED, not be dependent on the left's indoctrination and 'soft bigotry of low expectation'  George W. Bush warned against!
Bravo.   (by the way...NOW is the time to get Republicans involved in these causes...show them who really does care and doesn't just go for their votes)

Obama's "national Motto"

He dropped "the Creator" while "quoting" from the Declaration of Independence, and then went to Indonesia and told them there in another speech that America's motto is "e pluribus unum" instead of "In God We Trust," which IS the American motto.  I'm not sure that we don't all mistakes when we make as many speeches as a president does, but he's on teleprompter;  it's said he is involved with the writing of his speeches........read along with my friend's article below, do you see a pattern here?   "We are not a Christian nation," is another thing Mr. Obama said though approximately 90% of Americans celebrate Christmas.  Kind of understandable when you think of it, coming from our president...Socialists, Marxists, Hah-vuhd guys...they're not too hot on God, how can you make everyone dependent on the government when they're dependent on a much higher Power?
What's going on here?  Is my friend who wrote the post below more right than most of us thought?  How can one deny that our president isn't too big on giving God any credit around here?  Not easy to disprove, but give it your best shot if you disagree.
thanks.

Marxism and Christianity...why not?

A friend sent me an email about the Chase Bank and the Christmas tree situation and I asked him to write me something on it.  He responded with the thought provoking piece below..........Some of you will agree, some will disagree;  give him your best shot in COMMENTS...thanks!

The official removal of a Christmas tree from the lobby of a Chase bank serves as the perfect example of the innate hypocrisy that is and always will be the chief symptom of the mental illness known as "political correctness." Chase claimed they were reacting to customer complaints that the bank was not being inclusive when Chase displayed a Christmas tree at, of all times, Christmas! They furthere explained that all decorations must be supplied by the corporate office. Be that as it may, what would be the reaction if Christians were to complain about non-Christian holidays as being noninclusive? What would corporate America and the main stream media have to say about a white Christian's complaint about a Kwanzaa display? We all know their reaction would be to charge racism on the part of the Christian. Ditto for complaints about Ramadan, Tet, Cinco de Mayo, Hanukkah, or any other ethnic or religious public display. And they would be right to say so. But they don't say that in defense of manger scenes, Christmas trees and Merry Christmas proclamations. In the world of political correctness, complaints about Christianity and bogus complaints of "separation of church and state" issues are not only not racism, but are considered perfectly moral and valid. This, while complaints about any other religion or ethnicity by white Christians will bring howls and frothy mouthed charges of racism. What explains this obvious hypocrisy?

I suggest it stems from a real and visceral hatred of Christianity on the part of a far left from whose Marxist roots sprang the insanity of political correctness in the first place. Insofar that Christianity is based on truth, and I mean absolute truth, it cannot be tolerated by the tyranny of political correctness which is based on the fog and human debasement of moral relativity. For the Christian, Jesus, who is truth, instructs in His absolute truth. This is seen by those in the world who have been indoctrinated by political correctness as being in direct conflict with their acceptance of moral relativity. Moral relativists must insist there is no absolute truth in order to maintain an unburdened conscious while pursuing their fallen life style. So who does the world condemn? Themselves, who fallen, live outside God's word or those whose very lives are to serve as testament to the infallible and eternally truthful Jesus Christ? Insofar that the world does not want to be reminded of its inequity, it must condemn Christianity as intolerant or noninclusive.

The State also has a vested interest in the abolition of Christianity and has faithfully been fulfilling its role since the encroachment of Marxism on the American political system starting immediately after WWII. Since then, America has been increasingly moving towards a Marxist state which is presently highlighted by the extremism of the Obama administration and its plethora of policies designed to run the lives of its subjects, not for freedom, but for "the greater good." In the Marxist state, which is quite naturally run by the fallen, the "greater good" always includes the most good for themselves. Hence, they cannot tolerate subjects whose allegiance is to a higher authority. Particularly, a righteous and truthful higher authority who desires a fruitful and joyous life for all His creation. The Marxist state demands total and complete subjugation of its population to the state while Christians rightfully put their faith in the Lord and not in man or his institutions. Therefore, Christianity cannot exist in the Marxist state.
So, attacks on Christianity will continue in all forms as the natural reaction of the fallen nature of man. Insofar that man and his institutions are incapable of correcting his own natural, fallen state, the only salvation for mankind is Salvation itself.

Condemn or Console........which is North on our Moral Compass?

FASCINATING.  The headline is "Hundreds Attend Memorial for Wisconsin Hostage Taker"  HERE is the article.  This is the boy who held 26 classmates and his teacher at gunpoint for six hours, one can only imagine how frightened those people were and what their families went through once they knew what was going on.  The boy later killed himself in the classroom.

MARINETTE, Mich. – Hundreds of people showed up Sunday for a memorial to a 15-year-old Wisconsin boy who held his social studies class hostage before shooting himself last week, setting aside the terrifying standoff to honor him as a quiet, helpful leader who loved the outdoors.

The boy's name is Sam Hengel and I can't imagine what his family is going through now with their boy dead.

I wonder, do you think there would have been a memorial service honoring him had he killed any of his hostages?  He had   two semi-automatic pistols and a backpack jammed with more than 200 rounds of ammunition and a pair of knives on him so it sounds like he was serious and had planned this for a while.

Is it a good sign for our society that his memory is honored and his family is consoled through this service?  Maybe.  But, is it a sign that we've lost our moral compass and, while we feel terrible for this boy who was obviously tormented, it would be better for society were it to condemn this kind of behavior? Or, maybe both.  You decide.

I'd like to know what you think.   The boy was very, very well liked, so he was obviously a good kid,  but something went very seriously awry....they say his 'emotional bucket was empty'.

Is there a way to console his family without honoring a boy who contemplated and even started the process of murdering friends?  Would the parents of a child killed by Sam Hengel felt a memorial service for him was in line?

I'm not 100% sure how I feel, but the whole idea of this service hit me as strange..........What do you think?

BUSINESS in America...does it have a future?

PLEASE listen to this because I shamelessly 'stole' it from my buddy Joe-Jo Politico and it'll help me feel less guilty since I know he knows this MUST BE SEEN by more and more Americans. Come to think of it, this could have been a very interesting SIXTY MINUTES or an interview with Matt Lauer on TODAY, huh? (as if the leftwing media would EVER do a piece about struggling American businessmen against raising taxes with proof of why that helps America succeed!)

Another thing not completely unrelated to the video was something Professor Heldman (the resident liberal prof from Occidental College on Hannity's show) said last night...she lamented that Americans are 'cleaning toilets and working up to 3 jobs and the lower classes like them, working THAT hard, show that our system is NOT MERITORIOUS!' I sat there numb, thinking "Wow, doesn't going to school, following the rules, working hard to succeed and running a dental office or law firm that employees 300 people count as MERITORIOUS?"
Then, in this excellent video, we see the perfect example of a guy whose merits and hard work should be paying off for him and our country but our government won't let him? Maybe they think his work isn't meritorious, either. Or they just plain don't want him to do well. It's hard to tell lately.

Bush"VISITS"....Obama goes into "DANGEROUS AFGHANISTAN!"

I saw the wording on the Obama article I've quoted from below and thought I'd check media coverage of Bush's trips to Afghanistan and Iraq and, sure enough, the Obama-lovin' media's on duty :-)

Thursday, March 2, 2006

NEW DELHI, March 1 -- President Bush made an unannounced visit to Afghanistan on Wednesday to rally U.S. troops and boost the country's embattled president, Hamid Karzai, at a time when Afghanistan is facing a sharp rise in deadly violence that poses the most serious threat yet to the U.S.-backed government

here's another:

Bush pays surprise visit to Iraq
George W Bush serves turkey to US troops in Baghdad
Mr Bush helped serve a traditional Thanksgiving meal
US President George W Bush has made a surprise visit to Baghdad to mark America's Thanksgiving holiday.
The event was kept secret until Mr Bush left the Iraqi capital because of security concerns. Had word of the trip leaked it would have been cancelled.
Mr Bush spent two hours having dinner with about 600 stunned US troops at Baghdad airport before leaving Iraq.
Even they had not been told in advance that Mr Bush was coming on the visit, the first to Iraq by a US president.

And another...........

President Bush assured Iraqis in a surprise visit to Baghdad on Tuesday that the United States stands with them and their new government. “It’s in our interest that Iraq succeed,” he said, seated alongside newly named Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

OKAY....NOW READ THIS ACCOUNT OF OBAMA'S TRIP TO AFGHANISTAN TODAY!

BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan – President Barack Obama slipped unannounced into dangerous Afghanistan on Friday for a hurried holiday season visit with U.S. troops, but plans for a face-to-face meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai were abruptly scrapped.
The White House blamed the last-minute cancellation on rough weather. Instead, the two leaders spoke by phone, Obama at the air base and Karzai in Kabul.
Obama's surprise visit, his second to Afghanistan as president, came a year after he widened an ever deadlier war and ahead of the completion later this month of a review of the 9-year-plus conflict.
Under intense security, Obama landed in darkness after a clandestine departure from the White House on Thursday, where plans of his trip into the war zone were tightly guarded. \
Bush, when he went to Afghanistan and Iraq, had a 'surprise or unannounced' visits...but Obama SLIPPED UNANNOUNCED INTO DANGEROUS AFGHANISTAN!?
