Please pray for JUSTIN....he's a 23 yr old young man who's just been diagnosed with a very scary cancer.  There's a tumor so large in his chest that he's having chemo to shrink it before they do the necessary surgery to remove it.   The chemo's very rough and causing sickness;  please pray for comfort and for progress against the disease.  Thanks so much.

Noah Webster.......Sunday Faith Blog

"...God commands you to choose for rulers, just men who will rule in the fear of God.  The preservation of a republican government depends on the faithful charge of this duty; if the citizens neglect their duty and place unprincipled men in office, the government will soon be corrupted;...and the rights of the citizens will be violated... If a republican government fails to secure public prosperity and happiness, it must be because the citizens neglect the divine commands, and elect bad men to make and administer the laws."  Noah Webster.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding (Psalm 111:10).

The LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love (Psalm 147:11).
Have a wonderful Sunday,

The Debt Ceiling.....so clearly described....

You'll understand so well the Debt Ceiling situation if you take the very few minutes to watch this excellent video on the subject:

I don't know, but it seems to me that the last thing I'd want to do is be in massive debt and call my credit card company to raise my limit.
any thoughts?  (thanks for the video, Mustang)
Also, if you didn't read about a remarkable woman's funeral, below, please do; I think you'll be glad you did.I  hope so.

A Funeral I wish you could have been to

A friend's mother died and her funeral was yesterday.  I attended.  I'm close to this friend's beautiful wife and he and she have 3 outstanding sons.  This family is black.   The funeral was amazing.

The eldest grandson got up to speak about his grandmother, who was 91 when she passed on.  He talked about how she taught him to look people in the eye when you're speaking with them. He remembers that.   He told us how he used to love to spend time at his grandparents' home and watch cartoons he couldn't watch at home.  One day, something in the cartoon mentioned pork chops and so this young man as a little boy said he found himself saying out loud "I want pork chops"....Immediately, he saw his grandmother grab her purse and coat and head out the door.   He didn't realize it, but she was going to buy him pork chops for dinner. He was very little, he added, and didn't even know what pork chops were!   This stayed with this twenty-something young man all these years....what a lesson modeling teaches us.  He learned of love and quiet giving that day.  He said that, after she died, he felt she was still there in the house she'd lived in for so many years as he put his head down on her empty pillow and thought of her.  I couldn't help but cry.   I thought of this great woman who worked tirelessly for her Baptist Church and for the NAACP and for young people to have cultural opportunities they might not have had, and knew that, even with all of that community work, it was the love and the lessons she left behind to her family which meant the most.

Her son, my friend, told how he was going to be soloing at Carnegie Hall the next night and he called his mother to see how she was feeling.  He was a grown man filled with fear that any performer gets but didn't want her to hear it.  She asked if he was fine, and he assured her he was.  But, a mother reads between the lines, doesn't she.  She said "Honey, the Lord has laid out a big table for you....'he prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies...'  You go eat from that table, you can't just 'eat and run'!  You remember to read that when we hang up."  He did, and he did a wonderful job the next night.

I gazed around the church, which was about 99% full of Black Americans, and thought about how beautifully, respectfully dressed these people were.  No cut-offs and flip flops, but dark suits on that warm day, women in suits and high heels and stockings even in that heat.   Eloise had dressed like a lady and they sure weren't going to do any less for her, let me tell you.  From the pulpit, one man said he'd never called her Eloise, he's always called her Mrs.S(***) (*I don't want to put her last name here for privacy sake).  She was that kind of woman.

I thought about this blog and how often comments are filled with anger at the Black community for the crime and lousy politicians we all hear about.  You would sure never know any of that existed while you were with this crowd.  Just like you don't think of  White crime when you're at a White funeral.  The people I was surrounded with yesterday were concerned that I hadn't got a church bulletin (they'd run out by the time I got there) and shared theirs with me so I could read whatever I wanted to see on it (who was talking, what the name of a particular hymn was, etc.).  We laughed and wept at the same lines as friend after friend and family member after family member paid homage to an incredible woman.

This was about being American and losing a great person from the community.  This had nothing to do with Black and White.  The people there were no worse and no better than any White bunch in any church.  Except, I have seen some White funerals with people not dressed with as much dignity as these people were yesterday.

This was all about INTEGRITY and RESPECT and DIGNITY. HONOR.  Those words were there with all of us as much as if they'd been plastered in large letters across the altar.  ELOISE dressed appropriately, ELOISE was kind, ELOISE gave of herself to her community and her family, ELOISE gave everything she did all she had.  And she left her stamp on all the folks at that funeral yesterday.   I thought how much I wished I could ever be like Eloise.

Eloise might have been White, but she wasn't. It makes absolutely no difference.  Black or White, she was total LADY, a woman of love and discipline and great faith.  She was a woman every child on this planet should have for a grandmother, black or white.

This is what I left thinking:  we hear a lot about the problems in the Black community and we forget to remember the problems are no different than that of the White community.  And the good stuff deserves to be said about both colors, too, about all Americans, some in each color doing their best, some in each color not doing their best.

I'll just leave you with that..........I wanted, somehow, to share this experience with you.  So, there you go. I wish you could have been with me.    I'll share one more thing, her son said she told him she was unhappy a few days before she passed away.  He asked her why.   She asked if he was okay with the fact that she was going (she'd told them all, for a year, she was eager to get to heaven and be with the Lord and with her husband who died shortly after Mr Z did, nearly 2 years ago).  Her son told her he was very okay with it.  When he had finally assured her that he knew where she was going and that he knew she'd be happier there and that he was happy for her, this lady who he said very rarely ever used this expression,  raised both her arms and said "Praise God!"    She died about two days later, when she knew her family would be okay.

Eloise, you were QUITE a woman.........we should all be like you.  Black OR White.  Color has NOTHING to do with it.

On Obama.......Please tell us where you disagree and why

Wayne Root is a libertarian politician, entrepreneur, writer, and radio and television personality.  Some may argue that he’s a con-artist, owing to the fact that he began his career as a professional sports handicapper (some would argue, bookie), and now serves as a senior economic advisor to Wealth Masters, International.  But Geeez appreciates our diverse society and believes that we should have the good manners to listen to what people have to say.  Afterward, we can make up our own mind about the validity of his content.

Mr. Root tells us (from June 2010):

Barack Hussein Obama is no fool.  He’s not incompetent.  To the contrary, he’s brilliant.  He knows exactly what he’s doing.  He is purposely overwhelming the US economy to create a systemic failure, economic crisis, and social chaos—thereby destroying capitalism and our country from within.

Barack Hussein Obama was my college classmate (Columbia University, class of ’83).  He is a devout Muslim: do not be fooled.  Look at his Czars [who are] anti-business and anti-American.

As Glenn Beck correctly predicted from day one, Barack Hussein Obama is following the plan of Cloward & Piven, two professors at Columbia University.  They outlined a plan to socialize America by overwhelming the system with government spending and entitlement demands.

Add up the clues below; taken individually they're alarming.  Taken as a whole, it is a brilliant, Machiavellian game plan to turn the United States into a socialist/Marxist state with a permanent majority that desperately needs government for its survival, and can be counted on to always vote for bigger government.  Why not?  They have no responsibility to pay for it.

The health care bill had very little to do with health care. It had everything to do with unionizing millions of hospital and health care workers, as well as adding 15,000 to 20,000 new IRS agents (who will join government employee unions).  Obama doesn't care that giving free health care to 30 million Americans will add trillions to the national debt.  What he does care about is that it cements the dependence of those 30 million voters to Democrats and big government.  Who but a socialist revolutionary would pass this reckless spending bill in the middle of a depression?

Like health care legislation having nothing to do with health care, cap and trade has nothing to do with global warming.  It has everything to do with redistribution of income, government control of the economy and a criminal payoff to Obama's biggest contributors.  Those powerful and wealthy unions and contributors (like GE, which owns NBC, MSNBC and CNBC) can then be counted on to support everything Obama wants.  They will kick-back hundreds of millions of dollars in contributions to Obama and the Democratic Party to keep them in power.  The bonus is that all the new taxes on Americans with bigger cars, bigger homes and businesses helps Obama "spread the wealth around."

Why make Puerto Rico a state?  Who's asking for a 51st state?  Who's asking for millions of new welfare recipients and government entitlement addicts in the middle of a depression?  Certainly not the American taxpayers.  But this has been Barack Hussein Obama's plan all along.  His goal is to add two new Democrat senators, five Democrat congressman and a million loyal Democratic voters who are dependent on big government.  This is why he wants to legalize 12 million illegal Mexican immigrants.  Just giving these 12 million potential new citizens free health care alone could overwhelm the system and bankrupt America, but it adds 12 million reliable new Democrat voters who can be counted on to support big government.  Add another few trillion dollars in welfare, aid to dependent children, food stamps, free medical, education, tax credits for the poor, and eventually, to the roles of Social Security..

Where did all that stimulus money go?  It went to Democrat contributors, organizations (ACORN), and unions —including billions of dollars to save or create jobs of government employees across the country.  It went to save GM and Chrysler so that their employees could keep paying union dues.  It went to AIG so that Goldman Sachs could be bailed out (after giving Obama almost $1 million in contributions).  A staggering $125 billion went to teachers (thereby protecting their union dues).

All those public employees will vote loyally Democrat to protect their bloated salaries and pensions that are bankrupting America.  The country goes broke, future generations face a bleak future, but Obama, the Democrat Party, government, and the unions grow more powerful.  The ends justify the means.

Raise taxes on small business owners, high-income earners, and job creators.  Put the entire burden on only the top 20 percent of taxpayers, redistribute the income, punish success, and reward those who did nothing to deserve it (except vote for Obama).

Reagan wanted to dramatically cut taxes in order to starve the government.  Barack Obama wants to dramatically raise taxes to starve his political opposition.  With the acts outlined above, Barack Hussein Obama and his regime have created a vast and rapidly expanding constituency of voters dependent on big government; a vast privileged class of public employees who work for big government; and a government dedicated to destroying capitalism and installing themselves as socialist rulers by overwhelming the system.

Add it up and you've got the perfect Marxist scheme -- all devised by my Columbia University college classmate Barack Hussein Obama using the Cloward and Piven Plan.  (end of article)

Note: Mr. Root wrote his piece a little over one year ago; was he lying?  If so, where are his lies?  Where was he wrong?  Obama says that he’s not a Muslim, but the Islamic faith encourages lying in the service of Islam … and Obama is a liar.  But if Mr. Root is too extreme for some of you, read the more recent words of someone not quite as extreme: Dr. Thomas Sowell at Town Hall.  The most incredibly compelling paragraph, one which geeeZ completely agrees with is here:

“Barack Obama's political genius is his ability to say things that will sound good to people who have not followed the issues in any detail —regardless of how obviously fraudulent what he says may be to those who have.  Shameless effrontery can be a huge political asset, especially if uninformed voters outnumber those who are informed.”

Geeez thinks that if one takes Mr. Root’s words at face value, particularly if one is already a dyed in the wool communist, then obviously Root is a liar, a racist, and a fascist.  On the other hand, if we compare what Mr. Root wrote a year ago with what Dr. Sowell told us earlier today, then perhaps Barack Hussein Obama is exactly what many believe.  He is a self-serving black Muslim (communist) who, in keeping with his campaign promises to the American people, intends to make fundamental changes to the United States of America.

We are suffering great pain in this country today —but we brought it upon ourselves.  There really are consequences, aren’t there?

Mustang put this together and I thank you him very much;  I think it's important people on both sides at least read other opinions and consider them.   Again, we'd both like to know where Mr. Root is wrong, in your opinion.
Thanks!

The Last Word

"We have often heard that the devil is in the details. But these days, I'm afraid he's in the Oval Office. Who else would have run on the promise to radically transform America? Who else would have thought that America, of all places, required a radical transformation? If a normal human being were asked which countries could use an overhaul, he wouldn't be thinking of the United States. Would he mention Russia and Venezuela? No doubt. Would he have China, Yemen and North Korea, on the short list? Absolutely. How about Saudi Arabia, Syria, Cuba and Iran? Indubitably. On the other hand, it's actually the one promise Obama has kept. But, who else but he and Satan would even suggest that a nation created by such giants as Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Madison and Adams, had to wait 232 years for a leftwing community organizer to fix what wasn't broken? And when this arrogant pipsqueak chastises the Republicans in Congress for doing nothing about the debt crisis when they're the ones who presented and voted for Paul Ryan's budget plan months ago while this schmuck has been off golfing and fund-raising, does he really believe we take his words seriously? Great men, it's said, speak truth to power; Obama speaks power to truth." --columnist Burt Prelutsky

Leftwing Terrorism

While the New York Times calls the Norway  murderer a Rightwing CHRISTIAN  because he supposedly says he's a Christian on his website,  AOW's blog, provided me with this quote from the guy's actual ramblings: "I'm not going to pretend I'm a very religious person as that would be a lie. I've always been very pragmatic and influenced by my secular surroundings and environment".  Some "Christian fundamentalist," huh, New York Times and other liberals?   Then there is this THIS information about leftwing terrorism you may never hear on our networks or cable like CNN or MSNBC.
Yes, it's LEFTWING terrorism that's on the rise in Europe.  Hey, I wonder if the New York Times would ever deem it proper to actually publish real NEWS and cover this information?  If they did, would they say LEFTWING CHRISTIAN TERRORISM is on the rise?  Why not?  Or LEFTWING ATHEIST TERRORISM?  Just a thought.

When that Muslim serviceman killed all the soldiers in Texas, how long did it take before they identified a known Muslim as a Muslim?  Did the New York Times' headline say "MUSLIM SERVICEMAN MURDERS.........."?   Naaa.

So, from most news exaggerations over the years, one would think the only crimes committed anywhere about anything were by Christian Rightwingers............I, and friend and blogmate Elmer's Brother, thought it might be nice to publish this piece today to set the record straight.   Who'd have ever thought anybody on the LEFT did anything wrong, ever?   I'm hoping the NY Times covers this, but I'm not holding my breath; are you?  But, wait..........I was just thinking;  it's ignored so much, maybe leftwingers don't think their terrorism is wrong and worth commenting on..............?

This guy is reading YOUR MIND............right?

Naval Female Offices on Submarines.......STUPID

Well, my goodness!  The media and the rest of the Leftwingers (and even some Conservatives, I suppose) were all for women on submarines....so it was done.   We haven't heard much about whether it was a roaring success or not, but then there's THIS article which includes this information about women officers now taking over:

The women naval officers  are already saying "I have a feeling more people will be focused on us. Our mistakes and successes will be magnified more than they deserve,"  But, then the article says the women felt treated totally equally in the Naval Academy.....so, which is it? Let the WHINING, and the "them versus us" (that so many of us knew would happen), BEGIN.

I thought the navy believed wives would be fine with women on board because they sure didn't seem to care when they allowed women aboard, but then we have this:

"The issue really has to do with the creation of a relationship that becomes very close and then results in further relations ashore. That is, of course, what bothers the wives. They know the kind of relationships that happen between the shipmates," said retired Navy Rear Adm. W.J. Holland Jr., a former submarine commander.

Gee,  were you listened to when this decision was being made, Rear Adm Holland, Sir?...Ya THINK a wife might not appreciate having other women on "..... submarines with corridors barely wide enough for sailors to brush past one another"  Yes, that's just the ticket for a new bride knowing her husband's on, or under, the high seas for months at a time without her!

As anybody who's not badly mentally ill can imagine, it takes quite a bit of discipline and sacrifice to serve underwater in cramped quarters for long periods of time, hundreds of feet of water between you and fresh air...but, that's apparently okay for the navy which made this ridiculous decision to have women serve, though "One of the issues around women being integrated is this thought that, 'Oh, now because you're here, we can't do XYZ,'" Kennedy said. "And that creates a greater sense of isolation and exclusion for women."

Wait!  What about the "greater sense of " general well being among the MEN who have to serve and do their best to keep from flipping out in the difficult life of living on a submarine?  THEY now have to curtail things they might have done, like running to the john naked, or whatever one can imagine.....  but, now they will have to not do things that eased the feeling of claustrophobia because the women are worried about their own sense of isolation?  REALLY?

Sounds like a great idea, huh?  Of course not.  I rest my case.  I always thought this idea was insane and it looks like we who thought that were absolutely right;  it IS utterly stupid, ridiculous, insane and just another horrid push to dehumanize human beings by shoving men and women into ridiculous situations better handled by Great Danes than sexual human beings.

How many divorces? How much time off for mental stress?  How much sex on board?  How many pregnancies?   It's started.............dayum.

Congressional budget Crisis...............Under my proud new feature: Mustang Sends

Mustang wrote this for geeeZ readers:   So, agree or disagree?  It's quite a piece:

Our problem in understanding the real economic situation is that we do not know what politicians mean when they suggest curtailing “entitlement spending.”  For example, do politicians refer to the billions of dollars spent on housing for illegal immigrants, and the homeless, or do they simply mean cutting back on the social security pension annuity forced on American workers since 1935?  Do they refer to the billions paid out in unemployment insurance?  Do they suggest curtailing Medicare, another mandatory program forced on the American people?  Do they refer to the grants offered to states to supplement their individual Medicaid programs, including medical programs for indigent children?  Do they want to stop making billions of dollars in SSI payments to illegal aliens?  Do they want to rescind Obama-Care?

No, that isn’t what Obama and other politicians want at all.  Obama wants to tax “the richest” Americans so that he can spend even more money on give-away programs.  It appears as if Obama is wearing down the American people, who honestly … aren’t that bright to begin with.  Obama has no plan for dealing with exorbitant spending, but remains popular among 47% of registered voters.  What is wrong with this picture?

Before continuing, let’s look at the time tested Democratic plan of action: Never let a crisis go to waste —even one we created ourselves.

The language used by the mainstream media doesn’t help.  Sorry, state-run media: America is not standing on a fiscal precipice.  Maybe it would be a good thing for the government to go bankrupt.  You know, if government under George Bush had let GM and Chrysler go into bankruptcy, they’d be back on track right now and rehiring.  Instead, Bush/Obama flushed a ton of our money down the sewer.  We find it amazing that this ineptitude gives confidence to 47% of registered voters.  Have we forgotten that we learn valuable lessons from our failures?  The failure in this case is our collective stupidity electing unqualified persons to the White House, Senate, and House of Representatives.

Speaker Boehner’s plan is a disgraceful sham.  It does cut $1.2 trillion in discretionary spending, but the problem is that there is no guarantee that Congress will cut that spending.  As to the actual spending reductions, they only offer modest reductions in publicly held debt and do nothing for reform of entitlement programs.  If the American people are going to continue to fund $250 million free-housing projects, which include free schools, free clinics, and free rent for illegal aliens, then we fail to understand how anyone is looking seriously at “entitlement” programs.

Alison Fraser (Heritage Foundation) tells us that neither Boehner nor Reid’s plan will pass Standard and Poor’s smell test, and in fact, the US government spending will increase over the next ten years … suggesting that neither Congress nor the White House are taking this issue seriously.  Realistically, why should they care if our interest payments will triple over the next ten years?  After all, it isn’t their money, so there is no reason for their concern if the holders of our debt increase interest rates.  Meanwhile, when Obama said “… every family knows that a little credit card debt is manageable,” the American people smiled, and winked at one another.  All is well in River City; except, we aren’t talking about a little family credit card management problem, are we?  Aren’t we talking about $14.3 trillion in debt?  So get that stupid smile off your faces, America

We should align ourselves with Americans who make the simple argument: forget all these idiotic and dishonest congressional plans.  Just stop spending money on things not mandated by the United States Constitution.  Naturally, those 47% of registered voters who continue to adore the communist in chief don’t quite understand all the fuss.  Not at all.

Thanks, Mustang, I'm proud to carry your work here at geeeZ and hope I can print more in the future.

Colonoscopy......and vodka and cake!?

HERE is a very well written article which shows how utterly preventable and/or treatable colon cancer is. I urge you to read the article or send it that person you love who's hard nosed about getting a colonoscopy....the paragraph below is worth the whole article, but I hope you read the link:

"Everyone who dies does so because the tumor wasn't detected in the first 25 years of its existence," explains Bert Vogelstein, M.D., a cancer researcher at Johns Hopkins University and one of the leading authorities in the genetic foundations of colorectal cancer. "There's a huge window of opportunity to beat this disease."

(keep reading, I'm getting to the vodka in my headline!! :-)  Your first colonoscopy will show what you're facing.....they'll find a few polyps or not; depending on your age. From then on, YOU WILL KNOW WHAT YOU ARE NOT GOING TO DIE FROM. (read that again, it's true, and I made it up!)  The younger you are, the less chance of having any or the better chance of cutting them out in time(they do it right there during the procedure, no need for anything more) and having ZERO to worry about!  If there are a few polyps, you'll get another procedure in five years or whatever your gastroenterologist recommends.

The day before isn't fun......but, it can be easier than some of mine were:  Whatever your doctor tells you to take tell him no unless it's Magnesium Citrate.  Read my lips...TELL HIM "NO, NOT THE OTHER JUNK, GIVE ME MAGNESIUM CITRATE."  I've had two other protocols and you don't want them.   This magnesium citrate, refrigerated, doesn't taste bad at all and does the trick.  The day of the procedure is a piece of cake (and you'll be dying for a piece of cake by then, believe me)..you should be put out and then you wake up and ask "when are you doing it?"   And it's done.

I have a very dear friend who had advanced colon cancer when she was only about 46;  ignore the guidelines of having your first colonoscopy at fifty.  My dear buddy, if she'd been real lucky, would have probably had only two years  to live had they not done that test.  I love her, I had dinner with her last night, and we always celebrate her "how ever many years it's been" anniversary.  I distinctly remember celebrating her five year anniversary with Mr. Z.  Little did we know he'd go before she did.   Last night, we celebrated her 7th healthy year since the cancer.  Fabulous.

She'd probably be dead today had she not had symptoms......and, believe me, once you're having symptoms, you're lucky to live much longer than the colonoscopy and subsequent surgeries and radiation/chemo.

Don't allow yourself to go through what my dear friend did......and don't allow yourself to die early from a perfectly preventable disease.  Please.

It was my friend's birthday last week.......my card's cover says "Some see birthdays as a glass that's half full....others see it as half empty..........."  Inside, it says "Me?  I see room for vodka. Happy Birthday"   She and I toasted her birthday and her health last night...........because of her colonoscopy.

Gay Marriage.....to polygamy?

My friend and blog partner, Elmer's Brother, sent me the article below, from The Economist, and attached this comment ........"And so it begins. Gay marriages are becoming legal and now the arguments for other non traditional families. And the advocates of gay marriage said this would never happen." (and others said it might)

Please read the article and tell us if you agree........thanks.

Marriage and liberty

Why pick on polygamists?

Jul 22nd 2011, 20:41 by W.W. | IOWA CITY
JONATHAN TURLEY, a law professor at George Washington University, is representing the family featured on the reality show "Sister Wives" in their legal challenge to Utah's law against polygamy. It's a big, unusual family. Kody Brown is "married" to four women and father to 16 children. "One of the marriages is legal", Mr Turley writes, "and the others are what the family calls 'spiritual.' They are not asking for the state to recognise their marriages. They are simply asking for the state to leave them alone." Mr Turley goes on to make what I find to be a persuasive case.
The Browns have been subject to a criminal investigation for more than a year, but are not accused of child abuse or any crime other than having a particular kind of unusual family. Mr Turley notes that other families with similarly unusual structures are not picked out for persecution by the law. "It is widely accepted that a person can have multiple partners and have children with such partners", Mr Turley observes. "But the minute that person expresses a spiritual commitment and 'cohabits' with those partners, it is considered a crime." This certainly seems arbitrary. Indeed, the law positively encourages de facto polygamous families to organise into multiple households lacking the cohesion and economies of our culture's idealised single-household family.
Imagine the family of a twice-divorced, thrice-married woman with one child from each union. Let's say she's a stay-at-home mom who has custody of all the kids, and gets child-support payments from her first two husbands. So, children with three different fathers live together in a single household, supported by a portion of three different mens' income. How is this not de facto polyandry? How significant is it, really, that her first two husbands don't happen to live with their kids and her third husband? Suppose they move in. What then? Is it okay as long as they pay rent? As long as they no longer love the mother of their children, or vice versa? I say it's okay as long as everyone involved says it's okay.
Mr Turley wonders why civil libertarians haven't been more vocal in support of the right of polygamists to be left alone:
The reason might be strategic: some view the effort to decriminalize polygamy as a threat to the recognition of same-sex marriages or gay rights generally. After all, many who opposed the decriminalization of homosexual relations used polygamy as the culmination of a parade of horribles. In his dissent in Lawrence, Justice Antonin Scalia said the case would mean the legalization of “bigamy, same-sex marriage, adult incest, prostitution, masturbation, adultery, fornication, bestiality and obscenity.”
But isn't polygamy, as it actually exists, a backward practice hostile to the interests of women? What about fundamentalist Mormon compounds in which children are raised in isolation, indoctrinated/brainwashed, teenage girls are married off to their uncles and impregnated, while surplus boys are ejected without the tools to cope with the outside world. Mr Turley replies:
Of course, the government should prosecute abuse wherever it is found. But there is nothing uniquely abusive about consenting polygamous relationships. It is no more fair to prosecute the Browns because of abuse in other polygamous families than it would be to hold a conventional family liable for the hundreds of thousands of domestic violence cases each year in monogamous families.
I think this is the right way to think about it. I would add that conventional monogamous marriage was in fact an abusive, exploitative, patriarchal arrangement until very recently. In 1993, North Carolina was the last state to recognise spousal rape as a crime. (end of article)

(the author of this piece is not named by The Economist.  I can't blame them)

Our Australian blogger friend MK once wrote this comment at another blog and I thought there was a lot to it and so I print it here::
On the subject of gay marriage, from my personal view, the argument against it is the slippery slope one. If you allow two women to marry because they love each other, well you have to then allow 3 women to marry or four men, a brother and sister for example.

Marriage to me is a key component to the success of western civilization, we should not fiddle with it for the sake of satisfying a small minority of people. I know gay marriage alone has not led to the downwards slide of the west, but the overall undermining of marriage, morality and commitment most certainly has made its contribution.

Sunday Faith Blog

While we argue about the debt ceiling and whether we should be investing less in defense, and even whether Casey Anthony murdered her little girl or not, the following quote comes to mind and I wanted to share it with you:

"...the great pillars of all government and of social life....(are)virtue, morality and religion.  This is the armor, my friend, and this alone, that renders us invincible.  These tactics we should study.  If we lose these, we are conquered indeed."    Patrick Henry

It will take more than raised debt ceilings, balanced budgets and a good defense to provide for a successful American future.   It's time to remember the protective nature of godly character.

"Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God."  Psalm 20:7

Steve Wynn on OBAMA

I believe in Las Vegas. I think its best days are ahead of it, but I’m afraid to do anything in the current political environment in the United States. You watch television and see what is going on on this debt ceiling issue and what I consider to be a total lack of leadership from the President, and nothing is going to get fixed until the President himself steps up and wrangles both parties in Congress.
But everybody is so political, so focused on holding their job for the next year, that the discussion in Washington is nauseating. And I’m saying it bluntly, that this administration is the greatest wet blanket to business and progress and job creation in my lifetime. And I could prove it and I could spend the next three hours giving you examples of all of us in this marketplace that are frightened to death about all the new regulations, our healthcare costs escalate, regulations coming from left and right, a President that seems — that keeps using that word redistribution.
Well, my customers, and the companies that provide the vitality for the hospitality and restaurant industries in the United States of America, they are frightened of this administration. And it makes you slow down and not invest your money.
Everybody complains about how much money is on the side in America. You bet. And until we change the tempo and the conversation from Washington, it is not going to change. And those of us who have business opportunities and the capital to do it are going to sit in fear of the President.
And a lot of people don’t want to say that. They say, oh God, don’t be attacking Obama.
Well, this is Obama’s deal. And it is Obama that is responsible for this fear in America. The guy keeps making speeches about redistribution and maybe we ought to do something to businesses that don’t invest, they are holding too much money.
You know, we haven’t heard that kind of talk except from pure socialists. Everybody is afraid of the government and there is no need soft-pedaling it. It is the truth. It is the truth.
And that is true of Democratic businessmen, and Republican businessmen, and I am a Democratic businessman, and a repu — I support Harry Reid, I support Democrats and Republicans, and I am telling you that the business community in this country is frightened to death of the weird political philosophy of the President of the United States. And until he is gone, everybody is going to be sitting on their thumbs.

US Taxpayers paying for mosques and computers, etc etc.......

Watch this at your own sanity's risk:

It's unbelievable that this is happening.........the State Department says they're "building relationships with Islamic leaders"    This is what happens when our State Dept doesn't understand the Arab mind and our media's not discussing this.   unbelievable.
If you're struggling for money, remember this information.   But, so what?  Who's doing anything against this? Republicans? (Ya, right)

z

How hot is it where YOU are?

Obama...Carter revisited?

Almost WORD for WORD: Does Obama use Carter's speech writers?  What in the heck's going ON here?  Wait till you here this!:

So....what do you think?  Do you hear the pessimism, the same phrases, the same talking points?  Isn't it too close to be a coincidence?   What're your thoughts?  Add throwing Israel under the bus, and we really do have Carter II.
(thanks, Elbro)

Mac 'n GeeeZ is open again!

What's your favorite REALLY fattening food........please go HERE and share!
Would you serve it at your fiftieth birthday?  Please see below and chime in, too...........thanks.

z

Obama's birthday.........what a bash$$$$

What's a president to DO when it's his birthday and financial armageddon practically on the same day?
Ours is doing THIS.

Here's a story from the Chicago Sun Times' Stella Foster:  President Barack Obama’s national 50th birthday/re-election benefit celebration in Chicago, which is a scoop I ran in my June 23 column. There will be a high-priced private dinner with Obama for the big dogs and doggettes a k a rich folks and supporters
Aug. 3 at $35,800 per couple. There will also be a birthday concert that same evening with a broad range of ticket prices. The president’s actual birthday is Aug. 4.

What do you think?   It IS his fiftieth, and everybody deserves a bash on turning 50 ... But, I think if I were considering what this country's going through, I'd at least not have eaten.........the cake?
And I'd probably leave the politics out of it too, but he sure isn't $$$$$

What would YOU do if you were president and had a big birthday coming up and things were this bad for most Americans?
z

James O'Keefe at it again: Have you heard about this video.....think the media will notice?

This time, O'Keefe posed as a Russian drug dealer from a company called Bob Marley Pharmaceuticals......asking for Medicaid assistance and abortions for his 12 year old sisters who "like to do favors" for "clients" and need frequent abortions. You simply won't believe how the Ohio Medicaid employees help them:

The employees tell them how to hide their expensive cars so that they can qualify for Medicaid; the employees tell them Planned Parenthood will pay for everything.....and worse. You simply will not believe this video.

God help America.

Star Parker ....... if only people would LISTEN to her

Here's an article by Star Parker you might want to read:

A Chicago Sun Times article, headlined "The disappearing black middle class," reports on the disproportionate impact of these hard economic times on blacks.

According to the data, taken from the Washington-based Economic Policy Institute, median net worth of white households fell from $134,280 in 2004 to $97,860 in 2009, while over the same period median black household net worth went from $13, 450 to $2,170.

The national unemployment rate stands at 9.2 percent, while black unemployment is over 16 percent.
There's more, but you get the picture. The nation has been hit hard, but blacks much harder.

Which raises a point of interest.

Approval rates for President Barack Obama among whites have dropped from 56 percent in early 2009 after he became president to 39 percent now -- a drop of 17 points. But over this same period, Obama's approval rating among blacks has dropped just 8 points from 93 percent to 85 percent.

Many whites that initially had supported our president are now crediting him for our current misery. But blacks, despite suffering far more, are far less inclined to hang it on Obama.

The message that massive government spending and borrowing does not grow the economy has not reached blacks. Rather, like our president, they seem to believe that the problem is we just haven't yet dug the fiscal hole deep enough.

Is this a racial thing? Whites will jump off the ship run by a black captain in a minute while blacks will ride it out until it hits the iceberg?

No, I don't think so. I think it's both a liberal information thing and a moral thing.

The liberal information thing is that blacks overwhelmingly get their information from liberal sources.

Blacks watch CNN and MSNBC, not Fox. They listen to urban black radio.

They are not going to hear from these sources that if you look all over the world, nations with the most prosperous economies are the ones with the most limited governments. Liberal media refuses to get and pass the word that socialism has failed.

The major organizations that supposedly represent black interests are all on the left, generously funded by big left wing white foundations and by our nation's corporations. The former do it because they are liberals and the latter do it to show that they are not racist.

And, like the Economic Policy Institute, that produced the data reported in the Sun Times article, they are supported by unions.

But I think more corrosive is the moral thing.

Almost a half-century since the passage of the Civil Rights Act, too many blacks still don't want to be free and accept the responsibilities that go with it. Too many blacks still believe that the condition of their lives is caused by what someone else does or has.

It is sad that this is true despite the fact that blacks go to church more often, pray more often, and say religion plays a central part in their life more than any other ethnic group in the nation.

Why do a people so inclined to turn to God so readily violate the Tenth Commandment's prohibition on covetousness and measure themselves in terms of what others have? And then use this sin to justify violating the Eighth Commandment and give government license to steal what others have in order to redistribute?

Perhaps most fundamentally, how can a church going people buy into the materialism of socialism?

There is a solution to the general travails of our nation and the particular travails of our black brothers and sisters.

It is called every man and woman taking personal responsibility for their lives, turning to government for protection of life and property -- not redemption, and living as free people according to traditional biblical mores.  (end of article)
Well said, Star.......If only people will WAKE UP...and soon.

And, while you're waking up, please read Mustang's excellent piece below;  you won't want to miss it.

Lenin had it right............so does wonderful blogger friend Mustang

I am watching with interest the so-called negotiations between the House of Representatives and the White House; I am not impressed.  Why is President Obama, an avowed communist, winning the public relations battle?  Probably because the state run media is in his pocket and the media, like it or not, is agenda driven: they endorse the socialist state.  Wait … do I mean to suggest communist, or socialist?
“The purpose of socialism is communism.”  —Vladimir Lenin

Why hasn’t the House of Representatives hired a public relations firm to help counter the lies and distortions of the American Communist Party (Progressive/Democrats)?  One would think that Rep. Ryan (R-WI) and Sen. Coburn (R-OK) would wish to get maximum exposure to their plan for rescuing our economy, but so far all we see is Boehner stumbling from one White House meeting to another.  Is this the best the GOP can do?

If these politicians wish to fix the economy, here’s some free advice: stop spending our money on things that is none of the federal government’s business.  We are wasting trillions of federal dollars on a wide range of programs that belong to the states.  A counter argument is, “Well, the states can’t afford these programs so we must collectivize them,” which is another way of saying we must have a communist state.  Here’s a counter-argument: if we (states) can’t afford these programs, then perhaps we should do without.  Similarly, I can’t afford a Mercedes Benz automobile … so I don’t have one.  After considering the long-term maintenance costs of a Mercedes, that’s probably a good thing.

There are several things we could do to save our economy, but the government isn’t in the mood to do any of it.  Saving the economy is not what Obama intends.  He told us early on that he intends to make fundamental changes to the United States of America.  Did we think he was kidding?

If we want to save our nation’s economy, we must save our money (or spend it wisely), increase capital investment, and increase production.  This is not an easy task since today we only produce hamburgers.  But it is important to note that our national government is working overtime to inhibit each of these financial imperatives.  And we the people are entitled to know exactly how any federal expenditure serves the best interests of the American people; socialized medicine would never be an appropriate expenditure in a capitalist/free-market society.

Unseemly economic behavior isn’t the exclusive province of the communist Obama, either.  George H. W. Bush was every bit as dangerous to a free society as Bill Clinton and Barack Obama; George W. Bush cooperated with Greenspan to produce “stimulus” with money that doesn’t belong to them.

Dr. Thomas Sowell tells us, “One of the things that have ruined our economy is the notion that both Democrats and Republicans in Washington pushed for years, that a higher rate of home ownership is a Good Thing.”  This is true.  Republicans watched the housing market spiraling downward for years and did nothing to prevent it.  These nitwits are the genesis of “Republican in Name Only.”

But, politicians aren’t our only nitwits; people voted for them.  Which of these is the greater nitwit: lying/incompetent/communist politician, or the American who voted for him or her?

MUSTANG is right.......you agree?

News Corp..........guiltier than........what?

So, the Wall St Journal's not too happy with how the rest of the media's covering the News Corp. scandal.  Here's a clip:

The News Corp.-owned Wall Street Journal blasted critics Monday for double standards and insisted that the phone-tapping scandal in Britain should not tarnish all of Rupert Murdoch's media empire.
The powerful Journal, the flagship of Murdoch's US print operations, also warned that pressure to investigate News Corp. under US laws against bribing foreign officials could backfire on the entire media.
"Do our media brethren really want to invite Congress and prosecutors to regulate how journalists gather the news?" the country's leading financial newspaper asked in an editorial.

I can't say that I blame them for their outrage; even though I find hacking into phone lines disgusting and insupportable other than to find information that could save lives, like in the case of known terrorists on phone lines.

My first thought, when I saw the heads begin to roll and FOX being dragged into this especially at CNN (over and over again....to the point where even CNN's reporter suggested they're doing this story more than they might), I couldn't help but think of the times the New York Times has published information that our government has asked to remain classified because they were against the public interest.

Also, has any of you seen this much tumult and disgust on the part of the media over what Julian Assange at Wikileaks has done?

No, I didn't think so.   Typical.
I just saw THIS....News Corp "10 Most Wanted"...man, the media's reveling.

Ms Z's photos from some castles near Munich yesterday....I thought you might like them

Two posts accidentally posted at the same time this morning;  Please make sure you read the "Crass" post below the "Charity" one, too............I really want a lot of people to know what's going on.   Then ask yourself why you hadn't heard the story and if you would have had Conservatives said anything remotely close to the Maher bunch.  Thanks!
z

Charity begins at home, doesn't it?

For the last few years, I've given a lot of thought to the fact that so many young people I know at churches in the Southern California area go to Mexico to help build homes there and otherwise help out. Our church has a retired pastor who's trying to raise money to send to Mexico, too.  I'm against it.

I've thought for a few years now is that America's an excellent cause, too.   I think of urban areas which seriously need help.  I think of disasters like Katrina and our Midwest flooding and the Joplin tornadoes, and I people have gone to those places to help, but why not devote most of our time and money to US?

Yes, if you are a leftwinger, sadly, I've learned from much experience here at the blog and elsewhere that, instead of debating this question, I'll be called a racist and xenophobe.  Fine, what do I care?   But, I think rational people need to consider this, don't you?

Our country's really hurting now;  not just inner city families, not just poor Appalachian families; every family could use help today.   Are Americans not a great cause?   How about young American kids getting together and helping our own?

"I don't want to be crass......" REALLY?

Please see a part of the transcript for Bill Maher's REAL TIME from this last Friday night:

DAN SAVAGE, SEX ADVICE COLUMNIST: They're grifters and scumbags, the Bachmanns.
[Applause]
BILL MAHER, HOST: Grifters and scumbags.
SAVAGE: Yes
MAHER: Not just one or the other.
SAVAGE: They're not charming grifters like in the movie.
MAHER: No, no.
MARC MARON, COMEDIAN: I don't want to be crass but I just hope that Marcus Bachmann takes all that, you know, rage that comes from repression and denial and brings it into the bedroom with her. I hope he f--ks her angrily because, because that's how I would. And I've thought about it. I just…
[Laughter and applause]
MARON: …It's a political statement I'm trying to make.
SAVAGE: Just so we get, just so you don’t get charges of sexism, because only Michele Bachmann was involved, I sometimes think about f--king the s--t out of Rick Santorum.
[Laughter and applause]
SAVAGE: Because I think…
MARON: I’m with you.
SAVAGE: …he needs it. So, it’s not, it's not just women we’re talking about f--king. Like, let's bone that Santorum boy.
MARON: Alright. Let’s video it.

It gets much, much filthier and more rank HERE but I chose not to publish it at geeeeZ.

This is Bill Maher..........this is the Leftwing and what they get away with.    This is how Leftwingers treat presidential candidates in the United States of America.

And the Republicans take the high road and never speak like this, at least not that I have ever heard or read....and lose.  Of course, they'd never get away with it, cable or not, the media'd crucify them.........

Don't let them pray....but make sure you teach them to cheat

WHERE DID INTEGRITY GO IN AMERICA?

You won't believe this story.  Now we have teachers telling kids to cheat and showing them how.    Just how much more can Americans take hearing?  This about did me in.  SO, we have middle school kids who are barely doing a first grade performance and the teachers are afraid so they're changing answers on tests, telling dumber kids to sit near smarter kids to cheat, etc etc.   I"m not kidding, read THIS LINK

Of course, God forbid they say "Under God" in the Pledge or God forbid they allow a moment of prayer....But have teachers asked to perform to a certain level and they'll teach the kids to cheat.  No problem.

And they're blaming NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND!

The article says that "Parents of children enrolled at the 44 schools say they are frustrated and angry."  So parents didn't realize their child wasn't reading at too low a level?   REALLY?  What parent who spends ten minutes a day on a kid's homework wouldn't know that?  Then there's this:

"For teachers and their bosses, the stakes were high: Schools that perform poorly and fail to meet certain benchmarks under the federal law can face sharp sanctions. They may be forced to offer extra tutoring, allow parents to transfer children to better schools, or fire teachers and administrators who don’t pass muster."

God forbid they fire teachers and administrators who don't pass muster, huh?  Is THAT what the big problem with NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND was?......... the expectation of the excellence we had in our schools in American when we were growing up? WHAT HAPPENED?

How much more depressing news can we take?  How the heck do we reeducate thousands of kids?  And we wonder what's wrong with America?   How many of them do you think will be Democrats voting entitlements?  We're growing voters for that party with our tax dollars!  WOW.

If this made you as mad as it did me, please look at my Sunday Faith Blog below........I think it's a good reminder and very refreshing!

Sunday Faith Blog (and a comment you'll want to see about Herman Cain)

God’s Caress

What is this hush, that like a heavenly air
    Of clearest blue
Enfoldeth me, a Presence everywhere –
    Or like the dew
White on the grass, cooleth, refresheth me
Until the dawn is all alight with Thee?

“Child, it is I; for I, thy Lord, am here –
     Beneath, above,
Around, within thee, nearer far than near –
     An air of Love,
A dew of peace to cool thy weariness.
Child, it is I.  This hush is My caress.”

"And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.   God is love.  Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in Him."  1 John 4:16.
Have a wonderful Sunday.......remember you are loved.

Hot DIGGITY! mmmmmmmmmmm

I don't know why I blogged this...maybe because I had a "certain medical test" yesterday and all I could think of was FOOD on Thursday! (ya, you know the test!) :-)    What do you put on your hot dog?   If you put catsup don't let me know;  I'd hate to think less of you (Smile)
Okay, now that you're drooling, look down below and TALK POLITICS!!
z

Color or Integrity? Will both ever win?

How can our country, and race relations, ever recover when we have Sheila Jackson Lee even hinting at things like THIS?   Really, Representative Lee?  You really think things are going badly because Mr. Obama's black?   Was the absolutely horrid treatment of Bush by the Democrats because he was white?   Below is the whole article, but you might want to click my link above to read the comments which pretty much echo my astonishment at this idiotic surmisal, only ruder:

Jackson Lee: Congress complicating debt ceiling because Obama is black

By Josiah Ryan - 07/15/11 03:02 PM ET
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) on Friday strongly suggested that members of Congress are making it difficult for President Obama to raise the debt ceiling because of his race.
"I do not understand what I think is the maligning and maliciousness [toward] this president,” said Jackson Lee, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus. “Why is he different? And in my community, that is the question that we raise. In the minority community that is question that is being raised. Why is this president being treated so disrespectfully? Why has the debt limit been raised 60 times? Why did the leader of the Senate continually talk about his job is to bring the president down to make sure he is unelected?”

Earlier in her speech, Jackson Lee said Obama has been targeted unlike any other president."I am particularly sensitive to the fact that only this president — only this one, only this one — has received the kind of attacks and disagreement and inability to work, only this one," said Jackson Lee from the House floor.
"Read between the lines," she continued. "What is different about this president that should put him in a position that he should not receive the same kind of respectful treatment of when it is necessary to raise the debt limit in order to pay our bills, something required by both statute and the 14th amendment?"
Jackson Lee concluded by saying that she hoped someone would step up and say that what appears obvious to her is not in fact true.
"I hope someone will say that what it appears to be is not in fact accurate," said Lee. "But historically it seems to be nothing more."

Z:  With people like this in charge, we shall never overcome.   You know, it's impossible for me to understand why some on the left just don't understand that, sometimes, the choices in a compromise seem so unhealthy to one side that they will not capitulate just to please people like Ms Lee or the President.   So, because she doesn't like one group's integrity, it's easier to blame it on color than work at her understanding their viewpoints?   She has certainly displayed little integrity here.
