I think I do........I just want to add one thing;  because many think the warming is NOT man made and not CLIMATE CHANGE but BAD WEATHER does not mean we want dirty oceans, filthy air and all trees cut down.   I'm the biggest 'tree hugger' around, I LOVE trees.......just thought I'd say that before getting the usual nutty comments. ;-)

Scientists Blast ‘Incontrovertible’ Global Warming Claims
An editorial signed by 16 prominent scientists in the Wall Street Journal takes sharp issue with calls for drastic action against global warming, asserting that the threat is far from “incontrovertible” as alarmists claim.
“A candidate for public office in any contemporary democracy may have to consider what, if anything, to do about ‘global warming,’” the article states.
“Candidates should understand that the oft-repeated claim that nearly all scientists demand that something dramatic be done to stop global warming is not true. In fact, a large and growing number of distinguished scientists and engineers do not agree that drastic actions on global warming are needed.”
The scientists point to Nobel Prize-winning physicist Ivar Giaever, who resigned from the American Physical Society in September due to the organization’s position that the evidence for global warming is “incontrovertible” and the threat requires “mitigating actions” to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The 16 scientists — including Richard Lindzen, professor of atmospheric sciences at MIT, and William Happer, professor of physics at Princeton — say in the Journal piece: “In spite of a multidecade international campaign to enforce the message that increasing amounts of the ‘pollutant’ carbon dioxide will destroy civilization, large numbers of scientists, many very prominent, share the opinions of Dr. Giaever.
“The reason is a collection of stubborn scientific facts.”
The “most inconvenient” fact cited by the scientists is the lack of global warming over the past 10 years.
Also, in the 22 years since the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change began issuing projections, warming has consistently been less than predicted.
This suggests that “computer models have greatly exaggerated how much warming additional CO2 can cause. Faced with this embarrassment, those promoting alarm have shifted their drumbeat from warming to weather extremes, to enable anything unusual that happens in our chaotic climate to be ascribed to CO2,” the Op-Ed article states.
Why then does the call for action against global warming persist? The scientists say: Follow the money. (Z: and Al Gore and his money)
“Alarmism over climate is of great benefit to many, providing government funding for academic research and a reason for government bureaucracies to grow,” they declare.
“Alarmism also offers an excuse for governments to raise taxes, taxpayer-funded subsidies for businesses that understand how to work the political system, and a lure for big donations to charitable foundations promising to save the planet.”
They conclude: “Speaking for many scientists and engineers who have looked carefully and independently at the science of climate, we have a message to any candidate for public office: There is no compelling scientific argument for drastic action to ‘decarbonize’ the world's economy.
“Every candidate should support rational measures to protect and improve our environment, but it makes no sense at all to back expensive programs that divert resources from real needs and are based on alarming but untenable claims of ‘incontrovertible’ evidence.”(Z's biggest reason for posting on this subject fairly often)

Other scientists who signed the editorial include aerospace engineer Burt Rutan, designer of Voyager and SpaceShipOne; Harrison H. Schmitt, Apollo 17 astronaut and former U.S. senator; Michael Kelly, professor of technology at the University of Cambridge; and Jan Breslow, head of the Laboratory of Biochemical Genetics and Metabolism at Rockefeller University.
P.S.: Temperatures in some areas in Europe on Thursday sank to minus 26.5 F. Parts of the Black Sea froze near the Romanian coastline and rare snow fell on Croatian islands in the Adriatic Sea.

This is a comment our good friend and commenter Pris left on the post HERE on climate change, a post with a video that's highly educational on the subject.   Pris's words ring so true I thought I'd publish it as a post so you could all chime in.........I think she's absolutely right.  There's even proof all the solar panel technology isn't working as they'd hoped and STILL our government's investing in this kind of energy or in duping the public as Pris describes?    Good stuff, Pris, thanks!

I believe that this global warming or climate change scam, is being used as a vehicle to lower the living standards of the Western world.

If the goal of a "new world order" or international central governance is what's afoot, what better way is there than to create a global so-called crisis, such as the survival of the planet?

The end goal IMO, is to level the playing field across the world. If that is so, the way to do it, is to redistribute the wealth of successful countries, bring us down and take control on a global basis.

To make people accept it, a crisis of world wide proportions had to be devised, and this is it.

Along with it, is a socialist agenda which purports to be "fair" to everyone, when in reality, it keeps the masses in their place and under the control of a central govt. all in the name of "saving the planet"

Of course this is a pipe dream which won't work, there will still be the ruling class(international power brokers), wars, cultural differences, chaos, and more poverty, not less.

Bottom line, if this agenda is successful, we lose.

Z: More poverty, that's for sure..........and, the people trying to fight this ridiculous onslaught of fakery, like the Tea Parties and Conservative experts in the field, are maligned and insulted by the leftwing, which is so duped they don't even know what they'll miss when they find themselves no longer in the America in which they were raised.  One expert being Lord Monckton (by the way, you will laugh yourself silly at the hatchet job Wikipedia's done on him because he doesn't follow their line....the inferences and the debunking of his credentials are absolutely hilarious...but, of course, he's such a dummy that THIS happened at Oxford, but never mind:-)) who was Al Gore's partner in this obfuscation until he did enough research and woke up.
I hope all this subterfuge isn't taking the eye off the ball of things we CAN do like keeping oceans clean and protecting trees, etc.......

Global Warming....another one bites the dust

Ticker sent me this information which is printed at NewsMax and other sources and I just had to post it.  Mostly, because it supports the truths in my post two posts down, and because Ivar Giaever teaches at RPI, where my wonderful father went to college, and because RPI is very near to dear ol' Troy, New York (where my family first settled when they arrived in America).  But, I digress.  Check this out:

Nobel Prize-winning physicist and erstwhile Obama supporter Ivar Giaever has resigned as a Fellow from the prestigious American Physical Society to protest the organization's promotion of manmade global warming fears.
Norwegian-born Dr. Giaever shared the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1973 for work at General Electric related to superconductors.
In an email to APS Executive Officer Kate Kirby on Sept. 13, which was obtained by the Climate Depot website, Giaever said:
"Thank you for your letter inquiring about my membership. I did not renew it because I cannot live with the [APS] statement below:

"'Emissions of greenhouse gases from human activities are changing the atmosphere in ways that affect the Earth's climate.
"'The evidence is incontrovertible: Global warming is occurring. If no mitigating actions are taken, significant disruptions in the Earth's physical and ecological systems, social systems, security and human health are likely to occur. We must reduce emissions of greenhouse gases beginning now.'"

Giaever goes on to say: "In the APS it is ok to discuss whether the mass of the proton changes over time and how a multi-universe behaves, but the evidence of global warming is incontrovertible? The claim (how can you measure the average temperature of the whole earth for a whole year?) is that the temperature has changed from ~288.0 to ~288.8 degrees Kelvin in about 150 years, which (if true) means to me is that the temperature has been amazingly stable, and both human health and happiness have definitely improved in this 'warming' period."

Giaever was one of Barack Obama's key scientific supporters and joined more than 70 Nobel Science laureates in endorsing him in an October 2008 open letter.
But in March 2009, Giaever was one of more than 100 co-signers of a letter to President Obama criticizing his stance on global warming. The letter stated in part: "We, the undersigned scientists, maintain that the case for alarm regarding climate change is grossly overstated."
Giaever, now a professor emeritus at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, is one of several prominent scientists to resign from the APS over its global warming position. Among them is physicist Hal Lewis, who wrote to the organization before his death this past May: "Global warming is the greatest and most successful pseudoscientific fraud I have seen in my long life." . The truth's finally coming out.  But, of course, these are just experts in the field; what do they have to lend to the global warming scam, right? :-)  And, if  you gave some of them some bucks, they'll back Gore, anyway, huh?  Let me just add one thing which, in a normal world of informed Americans, wouldn't have to be said.  When Conservatives (and experts in the field) balk against the Global Warming scam, that does not mean we want to destroy our oceans, forests or air.

Anthony Watts describes it thus:

This is an important moment in science history. I would describe it as a letter on the scale of Martin Luther, nailing his 95 theses to the Wittenburg church door. It is worthy of repeating this letter in entirety on every blog that discusses science.

Dear Curt:
When I first joined the American Physical Society sixty-seven years ago it was much smaller, much gentler, and as yet uncorrupted by the money flood (a threat against which Dwight Eisenhower warned a half-century ago). Indeed, the choice of physics as a profession was then a guarantor of a life of poverty and abstinence—it was World War II that changed all that. The prospect of worldly gain drove few physicists. As recently as thirty-five years ago, when I chaired the first APS study of a contentious social/scientific issue, The Reactor Safety Study, though there were zealots aplenty on the outside there was no hint of inordinate pressure on us as physicists. We were therefore able to produce what I believe was and is an honest appraisal of the situation at that time. We were further enabled by the presence of an oversight committee consisting of Pief Panofsky, Vicki Weisskopf, and Hans Bethe, all towering physicists beyond reproach. I was proud of what we did in a charged atmosphere. In the end the oversight committee, in its report to the APS President, noted the complete independence in which we did the job, and predicted that the report would be attacked from both sides. What greater tribute could there be?
How different it is now. The giants no longer walk the earth, and the money flood has become the raison d'être of much physics research, the vital sustenance of much more, and it provides the support for untold numbers of professional jobs. For reasons that will soon become clear my former pride at being an APS Fellow all these years has been turned into shame, and I am forced, with no pleasure at all, to offer you my resignation from the Society.

It is of course, the global warming scam, with the (literally) trillions of dollars driving it, that has corrupted so many scientists, and has carried APS before it like a rogue wave. It is the greatest and most successful pseudoscientific fraud I have seen in my long life as a physicist. Anyone who has the faintest doubt that this is so should force himself to read the ClimateGate documents, which lay it bare. (Montford's book organizes the facts very well.) I don't believe that any real physicist, nay scientist, can read that stuff without revulsion. I would almost make that revulsion a definition of the word scientist.

So what has the APS, as an organization, done in the face of this challenge? It has accepted the corruption as the norm, and gone along with it. For example:
1. About a year ago a few of us sent an e-mail on the subject to a fraction of the membership. APS ignored the issues, but the then President immediately launched a hostile investigation of where we got the e-mail addresses. In its better days, APS used to encourage discussion of important issues, and indeed the Constitution cites that as its principal purpose. No more. Everything that has been done in the last year has been designed to silence debate
2. The appallingly tendentious APS statement on Climate Change was apparently written in a hurry by a few people over lunch, and is certainly not representative of the talents of APS members as I have long known them. So a few of us petitioned the Council to reconsider it. One of the outstanding marks of (in)distinction in the Statement was the poison word incontrovertible, which describes few items in physics, certainly not this one. In response APS appointed a secret committee that never met, never troubled to speak to any skeptics, yet endorsed the Statement in its entirety. (They did admit that the tone was a bit strong, but amazingly kept the poison word incontrovertible to describe the evidence, a position supported by no one.) In the end, the Council kept the original statement, word for word, but approved a far longer "explanatory" screed, admitting that there were uncertainties, but brushing them aside to give blanket approval to the original. The original Statement, which still stands as the APS position, also contains what I consider pompous and asinine advice to all world governments, as if the APS were master of the universe. It is not, and I am embarrassed that our leaders seem to think it is. This is not fun and games, these are serious matters involving vast fractions of our national substance, and the reputation of the Society as a scientific society is at stake.
3. In the interim the ClimateGate scandal broke into the news, and the machinations of the principal alarmists were revealed to the world. It was a fraud on a scale I have never seen, and I lack the words to describe its enormity. Effect on the APS position: none. None at all. This is not science; other forces are at work.
4. So a few of us tried to bring science into the act (that is, after all, the alleged and historic purpose of APS), and collected the necessary 200+ signatures to bring to the Council a proposal for a Topical Group on Climate Science, thinking that open discussion of the scientific issues, in the best tradition of physics, would be beneficial to all, and also a contribution to the nation. I might note that it was not easy to collect the signatures, since you denied us the use of the APS membership list. We conformed in every way with the requirements of the APS Constitution, and described in great detail what we had in mind—simply to bring the subject into the open.<
5. To our amazement, Constitution be damned, you declined to accept our petition, but instead used your own control of the mailing list to run a poll on the members' interest in a TG on Climate and the Environment. You did ask the members if they would sign a petition to form a TG on your yet-to-be-defined subject, but provided no petition, and got lots of affirmative responses. (If you had asked about sex you would have gotten more expressions of interest.) There was of course no such petition or proposal, and you have now dropped the Environment part, so the whole matter is moot. (Any lawyer will tell you that you cannot collect signatures on a vague petition, and then fill in whatever you like.) The entire purpose of this exercise was to avoid your constitutional responsibility to take our petition to the Council.
6. As of now you have formed still another secret and stacked committee to organize your own TG, simply ignoring our lawful petition.
APS management has gamed the problem from the beginning, to suppress serious conversation about the merits of the climate change claims. Do you wonder that I have lost confidence in the organization?
I do feel the need to add one note, and this is conjecture, since it is always risky to discuss other people's motives. This scheming at APS HQ is so bizarre that there cannot be a simple explanation for it. Some have held that the physicists of today are not as smart as they used to be, but I don't think that is an issue. I think it is the money, exactly what Eisenhower warned about a half-century ago. There are indeed trillions of dollars involved, to say nothing of the fame and glory (and frequent trips to exotic islands) that go with being a member of the club. Your own Physics Department (of which you are chairman) would lose millions a year if the global warming bubble burst. When Penn State absolved Mike Mann of wrongdoing, and the University of East Anglia did the same for Phil Jones, they cannot have been unaware of the financial penalty for doing otherwise. As the old saying goes, you don't have to be a weatherman to know which way the wind is blowing. Since I am no philosopher, I'm not going to explore at just which point enlightened self-interest crosses the line into corruption, but a careful reading of the ClimateGate releases makes it clear that this is not an academic question.
I want no part of it, so please accept my resignation. APS no longer represents me, but I hope we are still friends.

Global Warming is cooling off...........

The "For example" is WELL worth your time AND sending this to everyone you know.  Wake up, America, you're being duped and that does NOT mean that an expert who doesn't agree with the global warming story doesn't think we should have clean water or bright, clean skies.  Wake up to this WARMING stuff that a scientist with the following pedigree has disclaimed so soundly (along with many others, of course, but our media doesn't broadcast them):

Could AL GORE go to JAIL?

You'll all remember how the British scientists had emails going back and forth which showed they had information against global climate change and wouldn't release it.....well, it looks like have skipped out on their fates (of prison time) because there's a law in England that says that doing a crime more than six months ago exonerates you from accusation...
Do you think GORE could GO TO JAIL? or is it just unethical here in America to lie or not invite the other side to what are supposedly world climate change meetings, meetings whose 'findings' can change drastically our whole economy in a very negative way to propagate incorrect assumptions and agendas, etc etc........? Is it illegal or just unethical to deny the natural variabilities which scientists, including Lord Monckton who'd originally worked with Gore, say might be changing surface temperatures? Why won't Gore DEBATE people from the other side? (see video) When I got the email including the link above, it brought all this up again and, when I heard Obama say something about scientists who ignore "the obvious evidence" of global climate change, it kind of scared me (is he that uninformed or unable to see two sides? I thought the left billed themselves as those with the big open hearts and minds?). Is NOBODY doing any even-handed investigating? WHY NOT?

The Arctic Ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals
are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday
from Consul Ifft, at Bergen, Norway. Reports from fishermen, Seal hunters and explorers
all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone.

Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes. Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the Gulf Stream still very warm. Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared. Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts, which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds.

Within a few years it is predicted that due to the ice melt the sea will rise and make most coastal cities uninhabitable.

I'm sorry; I neglected to mention that this report was from November 2, 1922 as reported by the AP and published in The Washington Post.

The EPA suppresses an important report....that disagreed with the government

Could the government be LYING TO US ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING? Naaaa.

But, it looks like it. Read THIS LINK. Here's a clippet from it "Carlin's report listed a number of recent developments he said the EPA did not consider, including that global temperatures have declined for 11 years; that new research predicts Atlantic hurricanes will be unaffected; that there's "little evidence" that Greenland is shedding ice at expected levels; and that solar radiation has the largest single effect on the earth's temperature."

Is it SO important to sign Kyoto and put America at such financial peril? Is it SO important to GO GREEN at any cost? WOULD THEY LIE TO PROMOTE THESE THINGS? (heh...are frogs GREEN?) Don't you think this should merit some outrage on the front page of the NY Times? Well, at least someone spoke out and told the truth at the EPA. Maybe it ain't so easy being GREEN, huh?

Good, it's about time. Get used to it, folks...you ain't seen NOTHIN' yet.

The Pen is Mightier than the Sword

I've been wondering why I'm not more down lately. Things have been about as bad as I've known them in America (except for 9/11, of course). I've felt sad, I've even felt defeated from time to time: closing Gitmo, STD prevention as a stimulus and we're supposed to believe that?, the Oscars and the spanking the Lefties enjoyed giving good Americans just because they don't agree with them, forcing union members to vote in the open, the Stimulus package's passing, allowing embryonic stem cell research to get federal funding when so many Americans disagree with it and adult stem cells are far more promising, the ignoring of ALL the excellent science saying humans are not causing global climate change, the way Obama insults conservatives by name and seems to think everyone who doesn't believe what he does is beneath contempt, etc etc etc. This all wears you down, doesn't it? And I'm usually an upbeat person.

I've commiserated with fellow bloggers about how they just don't feel like making the visits to other blogs anymore and reading MORE bad news and MORE things they totally agree with but feel they can't do a thing about. And, I've seen a couple of very good bloggers leave lately. One, someone I think the world of for intelligence and incredible wit, has closed his blog down. Overnight ...."I'm done". I know this had nothing to do with politics, but it had the same effect on me. I suddenly felt lonely, even amidst all of the great bloggers who are still in business. I happen to like and get some comfort from my blogger buddies typing as I type, thinking what I'm thinking, feeling what I'm feeling. I like that, it keeps me going. I'll miss that blogger with the white-hot intensity of a thousand summers, his humor "killed me" as I often told him.

Ya, I like intelligent people blogging and he was sure one of them. LOTS of you great people are out there and I appreciate all of you.

The reason I write this pretty depressing post tonight is that I watched Hannity with Mr. Z and I was taking dishes into the kitchen after dinner when Greta Van Susteren came on and she said something about how much the Stimulus package is costing and mentioned the Omnibus bill. I said "Mr. Z, if that passes, I'm jumping out the upstairs window." As I finished saying it, Greta said "There's BREAKING NEWS! The Omnibus Bill has passed the Senate and it only needs Obama's signature now."

I haven't seen the details, but Evan Bayh and Russ Feingold were voting against it. (Yes, I said AGAINST) So, it's Republicans who kept this bill out of debate. Bayh had said last night that a few Republicans were voting FOR it because of the pork. They don't like YOUR pork, but they like THEIR pork, I guess. Ya, if the Republicans had all voted against it, it would have gone into debate and maybe the American public would WAKE UP in the discussion? It won't now. It's a done deal. As if Obama won't gleefully sign?!! This man gives new meaning to "the pen is mightier than the sword."

Are you ready for this? The AP is saying "Obama is also set to announce steps aimed at curbing lawmakers' so-called earmarks."

Wait. His Stimulus Package is passed. His Omnibus is passed. The Stimulus has, what, 8500 earmarks?, all of which he denied in his speech to Congress 3 weeks or so ago? "I'm so proud there aren't any earmarks in this bill~!!" (Ya, and Clinton didn't have sex with THAT WOMAN, either). The Omnibus is loaded, and they both passed. NOW he wants to "curb LAWMAKER's 'SO CALLED' earmarks?" um...... "SO CALLED?" And "NOW?" Is he planning yet ANOTHER huge ridiculous bill which he'll ban pork from? You can't make this stuff up!

We're closing Gitmo (habeus corpus for those guys makes me sick to my stomach), we're loosening restrictions against Cuba, we're telling kids that success isn't good, we're graduating dummies, we're all going to pay for your neighbor's abortion (and mortgage, and health care, and their kid's college educations, too, come to think of it), we Conservatives are suddenly the enemy of a president who barely conceals his distaste for anyone keeping him from the dreams of Saul Alinsky. Here is one:

He hates these individuals not as persons but as symbols representing ideas or interests which he believes to be inimical to the welfare of the people. So...not to sound too down here, but sometimes I think the only thing that's keeping me so calm is my faith. I'll let you conjecture about that if you want, I have no need to eludicate nor do I have the desire to have what I'd say dissected, so.......that's it. My faith. Praise God for it. Some of you know that "..peace which surpasses all understanding.." and I just have to say "AMEN".

And I will say the pen seems to be far, far mightier than the sword these days. Obama's got the pen and the sword, and he's using both as fast as he can. Left handed, did you notice? And sealing our fates. OH, and Hillary's over there selling us to China, which is giving us problems with some ship somewhere, did you hear? N. Korea's saying they're testing a missile....Russia turned down Obama's "hey, let's be friends! You put in the good word in Iran and we'll play nice regarding those missile shields you resent, okay? " "Nyet" was Russia's answer. Then, Obama said "Hey, let's get our soldiers to talk to the NICE Taliban and then maybe that Taliban, the really nice ones, will put in the good word for US, okay?" The Taliban said "You're kidding, RIGHT?" (in Arabic, of course) But, Obama's signing us into debt for years to come and thinking he's got the world by the tail!

Cheer up, everybody. We'll be fine, but some days are tougher than others, right?

And make sure you watch Glenn Beck on Friday, March 13....5 pm EST. That should give us some hope. Remember, the pen might be mightier than the sword sometimes, but our swords need to get sharp; our 'swords' are those tea parties, writing our politicians, demanding that our leaders pay attention to both sides of every issue, writing to the media venues and demanding honesty. And our blogs are our pens. Don't give up! We have a heck of a fight on our hands..............sharpen your pens.............

Activists are SHOCKED! (good or bad?)

Activists are 'shocked' at Hillary's stance on human rights in China:

"Paying her first visit to Asia as the top US diplomat, Clinton said the United States would continue to press China on long-standing US concerns over human rights such as its rule over Tibet.

"But our pressing on those issues can't interfere on the global economic crisis, the global climate change crisis and the security crisis," Clinton told reporters in Seoul just before leaving for Beijing."

RuhRoh. Put aside the POINT of this (human rights) for now, how fast do you think she'll cave to her buddies, the 'activists' who are 'shocked'? Did they really think EVERYTHING Obama's administration would do is payback? They supported him, so he's got to play their game to our possible peril? Do you think this stance will last?

Of course, if Hillary STILL doesn't understand that the 'global climate change crisis' is something she REALLY needs to learn more about before putting human rights second to it, then that IS a problem. But "economic crisis"? "security crisis?" Yes, I think we might want to put those in front of Tibet for a while...at least until some of these crises are dealt with, or at least negotiations with China, NO?

OR does this mean we're caving into them because at least we HAD the human rights situation hanging over them for negotiation purposes...? OR did our Left make it so that OUR human rights have been painted to be so inferior (Gitmo, Haditha, etc.) that we don't have any moral authority on that anymore?

What're your thoughts?

Nuclear Power... too scary to continue or the wave of the future? By Mr. Z

Sweden had been a socialist leaning country for a long time. That made it only natural that decisions would be made on the basis of feelings rather than facts. Consequently, after the Three-Mile-Island incident in 1979, the Swedish government made a decision which would become a role model for other countries to follow, most prominently Germany after it got a Socialist/Green Government in the 1990’s: Sweden decided in 1980 to stop any activity in building new nuclear power plants and phase the old ones out.

Fast forward to today: Like in many other European countries, and as opposed to the trend in the U.S., the Swedes decided that they needed to revert from socialism and they elected a center-right coalition government in 2006. As part of a revision in policies, this center-right government made a landmark decision on February 5, 2009 to rescind the ban of nuclear power and to call for the construction of new reactors as old ones are phased out.

Not only has this bill the Swedish opposition and the environmentalists around the world in arms, it also brings the German government into difficulties in explaining its current official anti-nuclear course. For various reasons, it is clear that a generation of alternative energy must be advanced (the environmental nuts around Al Gore say it’s because of CO₂ generation which, as it turns out, is a completely bogus reason – others say, rightfully so, it is to become independent from energy sources in countries which don’t have our future at heart). Since most alternative energy sources have major disadvantages, a rapid conversion is not possible. Since nuclear power does not have these disadvantages, it would be the ideal source to fill in the blanks. But that goes against the feelings of the left wing nuts.

Other small and large European countries are relying more and more on nuclear power: Italy has reversed its prior decision to stop nuclear power (after it changed from a socialist to a conservative government), France has launched two new nuclear plants, Great Britain will built eight new ones. In Finland, a new nuclear plant is under construction, and other East European countries plan to put nuclear power plants back on the grid. The reasons are simple: Increasing electricity consumption, new renewable energy not sufficiently available, and the increasing power play by the Russians with the supply of gas. This dependency on Russian gas has become of similar importance and as critical as dependence on the sheiks in the Middle East.

After the demise of the leftist Schroeder government in Germany, one of the important themes of the election campaigns two years ago was the potential reversal of the stop of nuclear power implemented by the Schroeder government. Unfortunately, the Conservatives with the centrist Free Democrats could not achieve a majority in the Parliament, a government was formed in a so-called “Great Coalition” between the Socialists and Conservatives, and the reversal of the nuclear stop could not be achieved. But the Conservatives have never given up on their position, and this item will certainly be one major item in the Federal elections to be held in German in the autumn of 2009. And the reversal of position by the Swedish government will certainly not make it easy for the Socialists in Germany to maintain their position, particularly since every energy supply study in Germany shows that there will be a substantial gap between demand and supply in the future. That gap would be substantially enlarged in case of their taking the nuclear power plants off the grid, and could not possibly be compensated for by renewable energy. But then, there is this European Grid Agreement, through which Germany will be able to buy electricity from France, generated by…… nuclear power plants.

The U.S. needs to learn from this experience and build nuclear power plants – that is currently the only way to help ensure independence from ME oil; all other renewable energy sources will first have to be fully developed before they have an effect larger than the famous drop in the bucket.

Global Warming?

GLOBAL WARMING IN PARIS AND LONDON....NOW

Obama's that cold?

According to this afternoon's news, Mr. Obama is sporting no jacket in the Oval Office because he's so warm. I personally like my president to have some decorum and a bit more respect for the office, but that's fine, he doesn't care what I think (TRUST me). So, like a hot house orchid, he cranks the heat up so warm he has to take his jacket off. Some people didn't like that after what he said in bold below, so David Axelrod, his spokesman, said that it's because "he's from Hawaii!"

See, if the guy's cold, I don't have any problem with the PRESIDENT turning the heat up in his office, do you? But, he said this not too long ago, when running for the job:

"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK"

Secondly, he's from Hawaii HOW many YEARS AGO? He's from Chicago! I live in a city which is warm pretty much all year long. When I moved to Paris, France, I was frozen the first year and then, when we moved back a few years later, I was too hot all the time! Hasn't he adjusted to 15 or so years in Illinois?

I'd just like to say: "Mr. Axelrod, we're TIRED of the lies, the excuses. Just be REAL. Tell us 'you know, Barack's cold all the time...he's turned the heat up'." FINE. "Thanks, Mr. A. That's MUCH better. At least we can believe you now." That'd be an improvement.

Brrrr!!!!!

......A picture you won’t see from the "climate hysteria people" is a boy in the outskirts of Athens/Greece covering himself from snow and cold air. Let’s see: We had record snow and low temperatures in Bulgaria and the surrounding areas, in Lebanon and the surrounding areas, in Moscow (sinking into unusually much snow), China has currently huge problems with snow, California is pummeled with one cold storm after the other (rain and snow), and the list goes on and on. And, remember, the last winter in the Southern hemisphere 6 months ago brought snow to areas which have very rarely any snow, such as Buenos Aires..... I wonder how that would be explained by Gore and his "scientists". By-the-way: The average temperature last year (2007) in the world was lower than in the year before.

All I am saying is: There might be some general warming happening, if it does, the impact by man made effects is very doubtful at best (may be in the order of a couple of percent of the total). It is preposterous to think that we are able to influence the weather one way or the other. Consequentially, the "panic measures" such as those pushed for instance by the socialists and greens in Germany put an unnecessary burden on us. As President Bush said yesterday: We should consider measures only if all other major industrial Nations (particularly the upcoming ones like China and India) commit to the same measures.

That is not to say that we don’t need to do anything. We should improve the way we operate, but on a more convenient pace, since panic moves have the tendency to go into the wrong direction. But one issue, independent from the climatic hysteria, needs to be dealt with: We need to become more independent from oil supplies from the middle East, and fast, before these people become so rich from our own money that they buy all of our infrastructure in the West. A horrifying thought, and we are way beyond the beginning of it, it happens right in front of our eyes (and the irony is that these investors are then touted as „saviors“ of our corporations as they are buying shares with our own money). This is much more of a threat to our society than anything else combined. It is just ignored, until it is too late. It just shows: We have our priorities completely wrong: While scratching our heads worrying about what to do with CO2, we provide our money to those very people who then buy our real estate and corporations and, in addition, provide the funds to the terrorists who threaten our society.
