Activists are SHOCKED! (good or bad?)

Activists are 'shocked' at Hillary's stance on human rights in China:

"Paying her first visit to Asia as the top US diplomat, Clinton said the United States would continue to press China on long-standing US concerns over human rights such as its rule over Tibet.

"But our pressing on those issues can't interfere on the global economic crisis, the global climate change crisis and the security crisis," Clinton told reporters in Seoul just before leaving for Beijing."

RuhRoh. Put aside the POINT of this (human rights) for now, how fast do you think she'll cave to her buddies, the 'activists' who are 'shocked'? Did they really think EVERYTHING Obama's administration would do is payback? They supported him, so he's got to play their game to our possible peril? Do you think this stance will last?

Of course, if Hillary STILL doesn't understand that the 'global climate change crisis' is something she REALLY needs to learn more about before putting human rights second to it, then that IS a problem. But "economic crisis"? "security crisis?" Yes, I think we might want to put those in front of Tibet for a while...at least until some of these crises are dealt with, or at least negotiations with China, NO?

OR does this mean we're caving into them because at least we HAD the human rights situation hanging over them for negotiation purposes...? OR did our Left make it so that OUR human rights have been painted to be so inferior (Gitmo, Haditha, etc.) that we don't have any moral authority on that anymore?

What're your thoughts?

On a personal note, I think I might forgo wearing RED in CHINA....what about you? (heh)

Ah heck, outside of Richard Gere's support, she's safe on that score.

I mean, why should the Tibetans get any more concern than Americans?

I never failed to be disgusted anew by these leftists, Z.

Z, I just posted on this. I went with the angle that the Dems only cared about human rights when they could attack Bush about it.

You make an all-too valid point about moral authority. The left has attacked America so often and with such force that they have become the mouthpiece of international criticism of the U.S.

Makes me want to slap them!

It's all about the money. What a role model she is.

Hillary is taking a similar tack with the Islamic world -- a recipe for disaster.

Indeed, Hillary's "efforts" are indicative of weakness as the United States strives, under BHO's lead, to participate in kumbaya.

Politician is simply another word for "lacking integrity."

At the same time, China expects some butt smooching in return for carrying our burgeoning debt.

As AOW suggested, our policy vis-à-vis the Middle East will have to acknowledge the millions of dollars in campaign donations that originated there. But hey . . . the voters have spoken, and it isn’t as thought we didn’t warn them about the danger of putting communists in office.

Money talks and human rights.... we'll copme back to that once there's enough money involved.

Z- You make so many great points here. The fake so-called Global Warming crisis taking priority over the very real human rights abuses in this administration. The sick use of Human rights as a negotiation tool with China.

Don't forget, Obama's so-called stimulus bill is structured with China in mind. Remember how he swooned at their infrastructure during Olympics? Of course, it was all smoke and mirrors and fake facades. That's our future.

I didn't know Obama fawned over the Chinese Olympics infrastructure, but it's a sad revelation to me, DaBlade, because we all know that was SEEN was so NOT TRUE.
The infrastructure looked good but the underpinnings were so rotten.
Like faking those kids were from all the different countries, or having that very cute girl sing when, in reality, she was lip syncing for a not so pretty little girl.

Sadly, that Mr. Obama swooned is kind of metaphorical to me.

EVERYONE: Do you think America is beyond negotiations anymore? Like I mentioned, if WE bring up human rights, any country can look at any article in the NYSlimes and say "Are you KIDDING? What about the abuses YOU have done?"

We have no financial clout (or do we?) left, we have half a country and an administration who REALLY thinks "if we're nicer, they'll be nice" and, even worse, "If WE disarm, THEY will..perfect!" (not)
We had NUKES, now most have NUKES.

Where IS our negotiation power?

Is it entirely gone? Is this healthy for the one country in the world everyone wants to consume in one way or the other?

Z,

I know this is off topic but at least the subject is closely related

Recently President Obama visited Canada to speak with "the President of Canada" — and it seems like only yesterday that George W. Bush was said by liberal/leftists to be dumb — this video shows that President is dumber than a rock.

Imagine if GWB or Sarah Palin ever said anything this dumb ...

Waylon, I'm SO glad you're here!
And RUHROH. IMAGINE if Bush had called Canada's leader PRESIDENT?
Well...might have been a slip, but that slip would have caused 3" headlines on the NYTimes cover had that happened with George W and WE ALL KNOW THAT.

Frasypoo, did I tell you about the Excedrin? I can't tell you how many women I've told and how thrilled they are with that stuff, honey! HURRAH!! I'm so glad!

So tell me, guys: DOES AMERICA HAVE ANY NEGOTIATION POWER LEFT? I know our Left will be thrilled we don't ("we don't deserve it, we abused it" etc etc), but i can't imagine living in scarier times than these now, without it.

Will they wake up and it's too late?

We owe everyone money and are borrowing MORE, we have no moral authority due to the Left, countries see ourselves slamming OURSELVES, they see we picked a president who's favoring socialism, etc etc..

WHAT HAPPENED TO AMERICA?

Can't we just leave her there, & lock the door to the USA, & change the locks so she can't get back in?

I'm a man, but when either my wife or I get a migraine, Excedrin Migraine always works for us too.

If she really meant what she said, then I have to give her 67%. The global economic crisis and the global security crisis are far more important to us than the human rights issues in China or Tibet, at least for the time being. We can get back to those issues later. She fails miserably however with the global climate change BS. We all know that is nothing but liberal bunk, and is not of much concern at all. I am willing to give credit where credit is due and IF she really believes what she said then, I applaud her for not being quite as stupid as I thought she was.

Shocked by what? An American who admits there is no higher good (not even God) than Kapital?

Doesn't shock me. I would think you folks would be happy when she shows her right/center stripes.

Wait till Bennie Nuttyyahoo forms a government and she makes nice/nice with that fascist.
