'Nazi-style Totalitarian abyss' in AMERICA?

We have written pieces along this topic of faith and America and how important it has been to keeping us who we are, particularly this one you can click here and read on Socialism and Germany as a cautionary tale to us, and I thought this article below solidifies a lot of our thinking. It's worth taking a look. We might not all agree but it's worth consideration.

Ex-Hitler youth's warning to America

'Every day brings this nation closer to Nazi-style totalitarian abyss'

Nov. 18 WorldNetDaily

WASHINGTON – Because it has abandoned moral absolutes and its historic Christian faith, the U.S. is moving closer to a Nazi-style totalitarianism, warns a former German member of the Hitler Youth in a new book.

"Every day brings this nation closer to a Nazi-style totalitarian abyss," writes Hilmar von Campe, now a U.S. citizen, and author of "Defeating the Totalitarian Lie: A Former Hitler Youth Warns America."

Von Campe has founded the national Institute for Truth and Freedom to fight for a return to constitutional government in the U.S. – a key, he believes, to keeping America free.

"I lived the Nazi nightmare, and, as the old saying goes, 'A man with an experience is never at the mercy of a man with an argument,'" writes von Campe. "Everything I write is based on my personal experience in Nazi Germany. There is nothing theoretical about my description of what happens when a nation throws God out of government and society, and Christians become religious bystanders. I don't want to see a repetition. The role of God in human society is the decisive issue for this generation. My writing is part of my life of restitution for the crimes of a godless government, of the evil of which I was a part."

Von Campe grew up under the Nazis, served in the Hitler Youth and fought against the Red Army in the Yugoslavian theater as a tank gunner in the German army. He was captured at the end of the war and escaped five months later from a prisoner of war camp in Communist Yugoslavia.

"It took me a long time to understand and define the nature of National Socialism," says von Campe. "And, unfortunately, their philosophy continues to flourish under different labels remaining a menace to America and free human society."

He writes: "The most painful part of defining National Socialism was to recognize my own moral responsibility for the Nazi disaster and their crimes against humanity. It boiled down to accepting the truth that 'as I am, so is my nation,' and realizing that if every German was like me, it was no wonder that the nation became a cesspool of gangsters. This realization is as valid today for any person in any nation as it was then, and it is true for America and every American now."

Von Campe's message is that political freedom and democratic rules alone are not sufficient to govern humanity justly.

"Democratic procedures can be subverted and dishonest politicians are like sand in the gearbox, abundant, everywhere and destructive," he writes. "What I see in America today is people they're painting their cabins while the ship goes down. Today in America we are witnessing a repeat performance of the tragedy of 1933 when an entire nation let itself be led like a lamb to the Socialist slaughterhouse. This time, the end of freedom is inevitable unless America rises to her mission and destiny."

Von Campe says he sees spiritual parallels among Americans and his childhood Germany.

"The silence from our pulpits regarding the moral collapse of American society from within is not very different from the silence that echoed from the pulpits in Germany toward Nazi policies," he explains. "Our family lived through the Nazi years in Germany, an experience typical of millions of Europeans regardless of what side they were on. We paid a high price for the moral perversions of a German government, which excluded God and His Commandments from their policies. America must not continue following the same path to destruction, but instead heed the lessons of history and the warning I am giving."

Specifically, von Campe warns Americans their political leaders are on the wrong footing, "denying our cultural and traditional roots based on our unique Constitution and Christian orientation as a nation. Christians don't understand their mission."

Too many Americans define Hitler as a man who Jews and tried to take over the world, thus fail to see when similar things are happening around them. If I had my druthers Mein Kampf would be mandatory reading for High School students so people could understand the evil that was Hitler and his National Socialism. They would need to understand it and what is wrong with it.

That's part of the problem. The "Obama youth" can't read for comprehension, and God was tossed out of our schools and society a long time ago.

Von Campe is absolutely correct.

Rick is right, too; if you haven't seen "Expelled" you must do so right away!

Who'd have ever thought we Americans would be even entertaining the very idea that our blessed country was facing THIS kind of thing?

Also, it's so odd when the left calls small gov't conservatives FASCISTS when Fascism is ALL about big government control. WHat's up with THAT?

From Jonah Goldberg's seminal work, Liberal Fascism, page 80:

"Fascism, at it's core, is the view that every nook and cranny of society should work together in a spiritual union toward the same goals overseen by the state."

Folks we are IN TROUBLE! Everywhere we look, these lefties are on the march. When I go to these lefty sites I hear different variations of the same ugly, fascist theme: "we're going to nationalize the banks, and DICTATE to the corporations how we want them to do business."

MANY on the far left have learned the lesson of the collapse of the Soviet slave empire. They have learned the you CANNOT feed the masses with Soviet economic planning, whether it's food or goods, the Soviet communist plan didn't work.
That DOESN'T mean they've given up on Totalitarianism! The word was coined by Mussolini and means a 'humane society where everyone is taken care of and everyone contributes equally.'

They understand that communism DID NOT work, but it's ugly brother (which they claim to hate) Fascism actually CAN work!

We had better get a grip on what's happening ladies and gents. Two or three times a week our "leader" is taking a swipe at "corporate CEO's" or "greedy capitalists" or some such nonsense. Raise hell before it's too late!

Speaking from the pulpit side of this, this is what I'm seeing. It's more important to preach health and wealth. Rather than "societal vigilance", don't know if that's a word phrase but I'm using it anyway, hope you get my point. Good Night.

Blessings.

IHS I've heard that before, and it saddens me. Isn't that the Joel O'Steen approach? As a Jew, I can tell you that the "feelgood" garbage is what you get from many Reform Rabbis. Americans still rely on spiritual guidance from the pulpit. We NEED you guys to get it right!

Morgan! I so agree..Mr. Z read this and couldn't agree more... You guys think alike on a LOT.
Thanks..........we have to DO SOMETHING!!!!!

I.H.S. "Societal vigilance"..excellent term....we need to be more vigilant and even hold our pastors into account so they preach about immorality, etc... then I was thinking we need to turn it into 'societal vigilanties'...out finding the problems and working on our own against them!!

I heard a DOCTOR on Larry King tonight (yes, I watched four minutes of our least favorite interviewer) and she was a fertility specialist discussing the mother who just had 8 babies....unmarried, 6 children already at home, living in a 3 bedroom house with her folks! The doctor actually said "I would hope that she did get counseling"
WHAT clue does this doc have that the woman had COUNSELING?
And then the doctor said, when Larry King asked about the amount of eggs that must have been fertilized and put in her...the implication being could she have aborted a few of them! The DOCTOR says "we usually do suggest selecting the amount the mother would like to KEEP......but, of course, we must not be judgmental" Larry King, when shown an illustration of what those 8 babies must have looked like in the womb, all wound together, said "I guess...you couldn't DO anything about the number of them once they were THERE like that!" HOnestly, he said that....They missed a chance to abort!

THIS is the kind of thing we need to stop...the family will be on the American public and nobody will JUDGE HER? Her children have no father and nobody can JUDGE HER? WOW.

It's when we stopped judging that we became lost, I think. People had some gold standard to live by, they were ashamed of terrible choices, they took responsibility for their own bad choices.....not anymore, we CHAMPION people for bad choices! We write glowing books of recovered alcoholics and druggies, we highlight stars like LIndsay Lohan for DOING WRONG....

things are out of hand. I just don't see us fixing it.

I keep reminding myself that God is in control..and it helps.

The truth about the Holocaust and the Nazis has been sugar-coated over time. Ask any recent high school or college grad to explain the enormity of that chapter in history, and 99% will not be able to answer.

Z I promise I WILL read the football food post tomorrow am. I've has some VERY long days, and the same holds true for the rest of the week.
Werner is a BRIGHT guy, I've read his opinions. I'll vote for you two when you decide to run! :-)

Seriously, there IS a resurgence of fascism in America. It's probably not as bad as that which occured under Wilson, but you never know how things will turn out. It's home is most definitely the Democrat Party, and it pains me when RINOS compromise with that sort of tyranny.
Sunshine is the best disinfectant in this case. It needs to be applied 24-7, and I'm taking 6 hours off!

Buenos noches mi amiga.

This nation, unfortunately, NEEDS to undergo and experience a cultural, economical, political or violent insurgency which has devastating consequences, before it will shake off its complacency. We are too self-centered and unobservant to continue on our current course without serious and calamitous repercussions.

Ducky, wake up. You might love the idea of an American utopia, but NOBODY has a utopia and most Americans are just too plain good and independent and proud and self-reliant to go for this Fascism program.

In my view, one of the most disgusting pronouncements ever made by a human being was said on May 1, 1927; "We are socialists, we are enemies of today's capitalistic economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak, with its unfair salaries, with its unseemly evaluation of a human being according to wealth and property instead of responsibility and performance, and we are all determined to destroy this system under all conditions."

No more misanthropic thing can be stated and it took one of the world's most vile tyrants and the man who came closest to actually making socialism work, Adolph Hitler, to say that.

Liberty stands squarely AGAINST every person being able to do whatever he/she so desires to do with their own lives.

The Liberty America was founded on is self-ownership (and the grinding burden of self-responsibility that comes with it) nothing more. Liberty allows a person to "do whatever he/she wants, only so much as they can afford to do so," that is to afford the consequences of that (self-responsible) action.

Paris Hilton DOESN'T have to work....because she can afford the consequences of that.

Bill Tate (Plumber License #549-XX-XXX) HAS to work....because he cannot afford the consequences of that action.

That's LIBERTY.

THAT'S what America's Founders enshrined. LIBERTY, individualism and private property rights WORK, in that they create the MOST prosperity for the MOST people while license (the right of ALL to do as they please, regardless of individual consequences), collectivism and state ownership of all property DOES NOT work and CANNOT work.

The view that "every nook and cranny of society should work together in a spiritual union toward the same goals overseen by the state," that Jonah Goldberg wrote about, is innately socialistic and that proves why economic socialism CANNOT exist without political fascism and tyranny.

The view that "there are a multitude of reasons, some of them very valid, why so many Muslims revile America and Isreal" and thus "jihadists must be understood, instead of merely confronted" is a viewpoint, not significantly different than the one that sees pedophilia as a "lifestyle choice," and not necessarily "evil."

Those who endorse such views are generally people so twisted that they've come to hate even the innocence of children and despise the emphasis on individualism that America was founded, in the same manner that an earnest man reviles a criminal action.

Such people aren't mere misfits, they're dangerous misanthropes, as well.

Ducky, look up "fascism" in the dictionary. It really isn't complicated.

I'm wondering what Obama meant when he said in a speech, he wants a "National Civilian Security Corps, as fully funded as our military". It seems pretty clear to me.

It won't be conservatives who round up anyone, Ducky, and it won't be conservatives who censor speech either.
Or, haven't you heard of "The Fairness Doctrine" or the "card check" system for unions, instead of a secret ballot?

If you support big government, you support central control. Period. So, it seems to me you might want to consider what is so obvious to those of us who value freedom, the Constitution, and small government over all else.

WHY can't everyone see these things?

it seems simplistic to suggest they don't love this country, but they sure don't love it as it was planned or what it's been all these bless-ed years.

I don't know why there are some people who believe that (1) the horrifically flawed people drawn to the self-agrandizement of government via elected office are somehow less flawed than those drawn to the public sector, (2) that "economic equality" is better than economic freedom/Liberty, (3) that freedom = license ("doing whatever we want, so long as we don't harm anyone else") instead of what Jefferson, Franklin and the rest of America's Founders called "freedom" = LIBERTY, the grinding burden of self-ownership and the full weight of the responsibilities that come with that.

Generally, it seems that such folks are the kinds of people that inanely compare Sweden and the USA implying that Sweden is some kind of relative paradise due to "its socialist policies," when in FACT, BOTH nations have the same "mixed economy," or the regulated market-based economy, the same generous welfare system, etc and differ only in degree of how extensive their benefits packages are.

Folks like that tend to be blissfully unaware that such comparisons are as invidious as comparing Wyoming to Detroit.

In fact, now-a-days, it's hard to tell which would be Detroit in that analogy, America or Sweden, given that Sweden's crime rates now rival New York's of the 1970s in most categories!

Still, I suppose such people take an "anyplace is better than here" approach to that issue.

Well, JMK....then they haven't LIVED any place else.

I have. And, while I'd still rather live in Paris or Munich, I LOVE THIS COUNTRY FAR FAR MORE than those.

But, you know...I'm getting to where i don't really recognize it much anymore; that's a really BAD feeling

That's the problem with government in general and bureaucracy in particular, it's momentum seems to go ONLY one way...toward ever MORE bureaucratic mess.

Even when Conservative leaders are empowered, they tend to only slow down the trend.

That cutting the federal budget is good, CAN'T be denied.

When the Gingrich Congress forced cuts in the federal budget by shutting down the federal government, those cuts (the first in over a century and there've been none since) CREATED the booming economy of the late 1990s (with some of the lowest Misery Indexes in four decades) AND all those budget surpluses during that period.

----------------------

What does the Fairness Doctrine (which isn't being considered by anyone) have to do with censorship?

I await your answer. I consider it to have been an unwieldy law that concerned equal access to a public commodity but I await your answer on how it involves censorship.

Pitch till you win.

Z said...

Ducky, it's censorship because it won't work the way the Dems think it'll work...they'll insist on 50/50 airwaves time...leftist talk radio isn't necessary (hence, the low numbers) because who wants to hear the same thing they read in the papers? so, ...if 50/50 FAIRNESS doesn't work financially for the stations, it'll STOP.. DONE. Censorship.

Don't worry, though..your side has every big city paper, 95% of the TV news venues and a government full of the same idiocy. no WONDER they need 50/50 on radio, right!? You'll be fine with fascists in control.

Ducky's here said...

z, nobody is insisting on 50/50 anything.

There was a bill in the house several years ago about bringing back the fairness doctrine, it only had 9 sponsors.

It never got to a floor vote.

The bill was NOT reintroduced in the Pelosi led house. Why not?

This is all a lot of fear mongering from the rabies radio jockeys who know they have to keep their audience in a constant state of fear and agitation.

Same for this idea of "the liberal media". That's another catch phrase that's been around since Spiro Agnew. Liberal?

Just more whining. However, since there is absolutely no debate in the rabies radio format it is a perfect venue for the right.

Let's face it. The national dialog is a pretty thin gruel and it ain't gonna improve any time soon.

Ducky, just give it up. Lying is silly. Google..then comment.

As for 50/50..that's the BILL, Ducky. If Reps are on the radio 3 hours, a Dem must be on 3 hours. that's 50/50 in MY book.

Oh, and the NYTIMES is Conservative? Wash Post. LA Times. Chicago Trib, Boston Herald ....on and ON and on and ON and on...all weenies taught in our universities to besmirch our country and throw away ANY vestige of decent fair journalism..Machiaveliian, dontcha know.

Talk radio is WHAT? Do you KNOW how many talk radio people are on TODAY saying Bush caused a lot of the problems? Do you know how many said they'd never vote for McCAIN?

As I've said 100 times before...Ducky...learn, then talk. thanks. And I'm SERIOUS..Again, I don't mean to be unkind but it really sounds like you're drinking KooolAid and not coming up for air here.
