What a beautiful place Hawaii is. I hope Ms Z is having a great time. I know she'll come back with a lot of gorgeous pics.
Pris
Maui! My favorite place on this earth!
I do wonder if Mr. AOW and I will ever be able to visit there again.
Our one visit there as a couple was in 1983. I did return with my best friend from college in 1984. I haven't been back since, mostly because of caregiving my father and working. **sigh**
Boy Ms. Z takes absolutely fantastic pictures!
Ah, how beautiful!
I preferred Kauai when I was lucky enough to go!
Never been there.
I'd wanna visit the volcanoes.
The volcanoes are good. Go to the big island.
these are all from her camera to me....she's home on Thursday but she is having one heck of a great time!
Aren't the photos gorgeous? And that's just a few of them!
She's snorkeling, swimming with dolphins, wants to do (or did already, not sure) ziplining, helicoptered over the volcano she climbed around yesterday, will be sailing this week and hiking.
Wears me out just thinking about it :-)
In 1983, against all the rules, I walked part of the rim of Kilauea. Can't do that now as far as I know.
If you're into "extinct" volcanoes, Haleakala, on Maui, is worth seeing.
Nice! I'm envious.
Ms Z called and said they'd done a six hour hike in and around a crater...around the rim, I guess? she's in amazing condition and said she was huffing and puffing (I mean, the girl does ballet/tap/jazz for six hours a day then goes to salsa clubs till 1:30 in the AM) ....imagine how grueling that must have been?
And I'm sitting here in low 40 degree weather ;>( .
Just send me the ticket and I'll join you forthwith!
Joe, you'd have to join HER, I'm sitting here in LA, but I'm sure she'd be delighted :-)
Climb a mountain that could explode into fiery molten lava death at any given moment.
I am so there, someday.
Having a heat wave, Ticker?
It's a nippy 34 degrees here.
beamish, they're not on the verge! But YOU ARE :-)
Brooke, we loved Kauai too. While I wasn't crazy about the flight from Oahu in a prop job, or landing in the middle of a pineapple field, it was a beautiful Island.
The Fern Grotto was a must see place. Fabulous. That was in 1965. We saved up our money for quite some time for this vacation with a tour group, and it was worth every penney.
We never made it to Maui, but I'm sure all those islands are beautiful.
I wonder, do they still fly that kind of plane to island hop now? Probably not. I keep forgetting those were ancient times. Ha,Ha.
Pris
Pris, not sure they use the props but I wouldn't be surprised if some small companies don't! I know Ms Z was going to island hop a little.
I've only been to the big island and loved it but I'm not a 'sit on the beach for days' vacationer...and I can't because of the sun now, anyway.
I had a big client who bought a large home over the Mauna Kea Hotel, which is fabulous, and I did the interiors of that house while staying at the Mauna Kea.....it was there I learned TRADE WINDS really are different than other winds! What a lovely feeling.
His pool in his backyard reached out over the hill and you could stand at the fence and see nothing but water.......I'd say "all the way to China" but I'd hate to be called SARAH PALIN!
Z, sounds heavenly. I love the tropics.
Pris
oh how gorgeous!
I hope to go someday.
Ms. Z could market her travel photography.
jen, it's just a hobby but she is so good. A client's mother in Caracas owns a car dealership there...her husband owns another; their daughter does promotions and they're friends of Ms Z's now, went to visit her in Munich, etc...and she let them have a lot of her travel shots for promotional calendars..for nothing! She was just pleased they're being published!
I need to talk to that girl :-)
What gorgeous pictures!! Just fantastic!
It snowed HERE today (NC Piedmont, not mountains)! It was fabulous, & most unusual! We had Christmas music on, pulled out all the decorations, while snow was falling outside. What a splendid thing! But...nothing like where she is, I'm quite sure...
Oh, Susannah (oh , won't you cry for me..sorry, I think of that every time I type Oh Susannah!)...but I digress;
Your scene sounds heavenly! and family life like that, cozy inside with Christmas decorations and music on while it snows, are probably glimpses of heaven! Thanks for sharing that
I'm sorry...I don't think I know that song...(ha!) When I was in college, my sorority "jersey" had "Oh Sus" on the back of it instead of my whole name...
But I've digressed...
Wow. I know. It was heavenly. Really, really special, & b/c of that, a reason to celebrate!
Celebrating is the key to life, I think...Mom always says "You have to have something to look forward to"
Celebrate anything, any chance you've got :-)
