Another Obama-Care Delay ...

Obama delays the parts of ObamaCare you won't like until after election ... do you wonder why?

Another wave of health-care plan cancellation notices was set to crash on voters this fall. But the Obama administration found a way to shut that whole thing down. According to The Hill:

• As early as this week, according to two sources, the White House will announce a new directive allowing insurers to continue offering health plans that do not meet ObamaCare's minimum coverage requirements.

• Prolonging the "keep your plan" fix will avoid another wave of health policy cancellations otherwise expected this fall.

• The cancellations would have created a firestorm for Democratic candidates in the last, crucial weeks before Election Day.

• The White House is intent on protecting its allies in the Senate, where Democrats face a battle to keep control of the chamber. [The Hill]

Is the American dream a thing of the past?

A few decades ago, the American Dream was synonymous with opportunity: opportunity to endeavor after “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

The American Dream was imbued with the concept of the individual: each man would reap the fruits of his own labor. America was the land of the rugged individual, who carved out his life with his own hands and accounted to no one but himself for his failures.

Let us compare this view of the American Dream with that of today. Whereas the American Dream was once equated with certain principles of freedom, it is now equated with things.

Today, a man would say merely that he has a right to live comfortably; the fact that comfort must be earned is ignored; the question of whether the person is deserving of comfort never arises.

When people are concerned more with the attainment of things than with the maintenance of principles, it is a sign of moral decay. And it is through such decay that loss of freedom occurs.

This metamorphosis of the human spirit did not come about unforeseen. Although he was not writing specifically about America, Jose Ortega y Gasset, in his The Revolt of the Masses, clearly delineated the process by which the individual would eventually be sacrificed to the mass-man; the mass-man thereby destroying that which made possible his very existence.

Respect for the rights of the individual has been the foundation for America’s greatness; it was the reason for the immigration to America from all around the world. It is precisely this respect which has deteriorated as a result of the efforts of the mass-man in America, this laying the groundwork for a totalitarian welfare state.

Is Hillary too sick to run?

For years now, presidential candidates have been placed under a proverbial microscope, ostensibly to assure the American people that their candidate, if elected, is healthy enough to serve as President of the United States.  I remember the left press (an oxymoron) dithering over a Romney hangnail, and then of course Vice Presidential candidate Thomas Eagleton was booted as McGovern’s running mate when disclosed that a psychiatrist not associated with Dr. Phil had treated him.  But this kind of scrutiny may be changing now…

According to Alex Pappas at the Daily Caller, whispers persist that Hillary Rodham Clinton may not be medically capable of becoming our next president.  He says there are rumors about everything from bed wetting to brain tumor, with most murmuring over her alleged brain concussion.  You remember that crisis, right?  The concussion she had in order to avoid giving testimony in the Benghazi affair before the House of Representatives according to their time frame, rather than hers?

I have a few thoughts about this.  First of all, if Hillary has a brain tumor, she’s a shoe-in for the Democratic nomination.  But I don’t believe that idea for one second.  I think this is all hooey created by the Clinton machine to elicit an outpouring of sympathy among voters who shouldn’t.  Does anyone remember the crocodile tears she shed for television cameras during the New Hampshire contest?  Poor thing; I always wondered if she shed as many tears for her dear friend Vince Foster, or her other dear friend, Chris Stevens. 

Nahhhh.
