Doris Kearns Goodwin EXPOSED? (well......in one sense of the word)

SURPRISE!

The McCain campaign has actually pointed out the politics behind those questioning and condemning Sarah Palin's credentials; her detractors have been exposed with the obvious implications of Leftwing (GASP!) BIAS (see the last paragraph in the link, the "Update"!).

WHAT NEXT? Larry King will do a fair interview? Olbermann will act with civility and tell the truth?

naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Let's not go THAT far!? But, you know what? This UPDATE is pretty darned stunning, a pretty good start? IS THIS AN INDICATION OF THINGS TO COME? Are Republicans going to STOP being shy about exposing dishonesty? We can only hope.

The update says a lot...good for McCain for calling their hand.

Why doesn't that disclaimer follow more political stories in the MSM?

Let's hope so, z. The arrival of Palin on the scene is certainly a turnaround in just about every other area. It would be great to see the dark side exposed and humiliated for once.

The Huffington Post is almost maxed out on anti-Palin threads. I've never seen such an all-out attempt at character assassination.

Unbelievable.

They're literally foaming at the mouths...

Alinsky Rule #12 is being STRICTLY enforced.

I LIKE HER!!! Good for John McCain! Wouldn't it be nice if he decided that he was just too old for the job and turned it over to Sarah inside his second year?

I was more surprised that they were willing to PRINT the update myself, but I suppose you're right that the problem has usually been a failure of conservatives to call them on their bias.

I didn't think it was possible for anything to happen to inspire me for McCain at this point but never say never I guess. I can't wait to see her knocking em dead out on the campaign trail. To my mind she's the star now, he's just along for the ride.

She makes McCain look good. I have a feeling she'll keep him honest too, the way she's been doing with the politicians in Alaska. And if he should stop breathing in the next couple years, by that time she'll have all that experience they say she's lacking, as President of the Senate among other things, to put THAT complaint to rest.

I am REALLY happy.

Judging by the emotional attacks from the left on her, it certainly looks like the good choice. I spend some time yesterday researching her a bit and reading what true Conservatives think of her and so far it's all good. I can't vote, however if i could, i would have voted for McCain anyway, because i fear Obama. But with Palin on board i'd vote for McCain because i want to. That is a big difference and i think that'll help McCain with a lot of Conservatives who were planning to stay away.

Those who want to attack her for inexperience should remember this - Whatever experience she lacks, she has at least run a state as governor, immediately giving her more executive experience than Obama, who has run nothing but political campaigns. If you think she lacks experience for vice president, how much less experience does Obama have for president?

"Are Republicans going to STOP being shy about exposing dishonesty?"

If they don't they will lose big.

The true BRILLIANCE of this pick is that the other side is just as happy as we are. This pick has completely lulled them into thinking that they now have an advantage. They do not realize that putting the debate of experience front and center is going to work for us every single time. And they have COMPLETELY underestimated this woman and the powerful ideas and common sense she is going to bring to the table by being no respecter of persons or party. They see her as an attempt to "steal" away disenfranchised female voters from Hillary when the truth is that she is a BOLD & POWERFUL statement to say that Hillary is NOT the only kind of woman in America. There are women in America, strong women - smart women - beautiful women (in the true sense of the word), who are beacons of conservative thought and deed. They are fierce protectors of family and country. They are thinkers and bloggers and voters (like Z the blog goddess). She is not the "substitute" for Hillary, she is SO MUCH MORE than Hillary and twice as strong because of her values and conservative ideals. I sure hope they continue to sell her short because it will only make the contrast easier to see and the light all that much brighter against the darkness of liberal thought.

Pops, thank you so much. All the women in our corner of the blogosphere make your point. I'm so proud to be among them. Thinking I share in Sarah Palin's vision of America and her conservative values humbles me...I think it does that to all of us blogging women.
We do this blogging for a reason; Palin is taking this challenge on for a reason...they're the same reason.

WE LOVE AMERICA.
God bless this great country!

That column MK linked is inspiring both because the columnist changed his mind about Palin and now has mostly good things to say, and also because of WHAT he says

"PALIN, frankly, looks like the America that many Americans who actually vote would like America to be. She seems warm, photogenic, up-and-at-them, patriotic, with a family story that spans the son in the army and the loved child with Down syndrome she refused to abort.

EXACTLY! THE AMERICA THAT MANY AMERICANS WHO VOTE WOULD LIKE AMERICA TO BE (or really believe the true America really is).

"AS A CONSERVATIVE, a mother and wife of a blue-collar worker from Alaska, she perfectly allows McCain to present Obama and Biden as the voice of the metropolitan elites and Washington insiders, with all their fine speeches and applause from abroad, while the McCain team can present as the voice of heartland America."

I'm positively giddy over Palin. I sure hope she lives up to her early promise.

For all that we seem to have this person, called Obama who comes across as so fake and phoney, we suddenly get Sarah, who comes across as the extreme exact opposite.

She connects with ordinary people and last I looked, there were lots more of them in the country , and voting vs. the elitists.

So, here is hoping that Sarah begins to get McCain a real and sustained bounce that goes all the way into November.

She is the anti -O .

Seems the lefties are out there saying Sarah's oldest daughter was actually pregnant, but Sarah being a hypocrite, pretended she was pregant to hide the shame, etc.

This is pretty sad even by Dem standards.

Also, it was suggested that maybe Palin's son had problems because his mom did not get to hospital exactly when she should have.

I kid you not.

cj..and mk...very interesting change of heart on Palin..thanks.

WV....Anti-O is right. The stories about the pregnancy, etc., are SO cruel and so typical of the Left.
They are absolutely FREAKED out of their minds........

by the way...CNN did McCAIN REVEALED yesterday and I watched most of it, on and off (it was on twice and I caught the rest of it exactly where I'd had to leave off to go to dinner!). They did an excellent, even-handed job that surprised me. I liked him more after their 'reveal'.
I didn't have the guts to watch the Obama counterpart. WHO CARES?! I know enough..we ALL do.

Well one thing is certain about the eldest daughter's alleged pregnancy–––i.e. SHE DID NOT GET PREGNANT by her MOTHER.

I'm sure you catch my drift?

Apparently Mr. Palin is a "stay-at-home dad. " Wait till you see all the vile conjecture sure to be noised abroad about THAT.

Doris Kearns Goodwin looks like a money in a dress, and she talks with a horrible, uncultivated B Brooklyn accent.

Worse than that she's a HAGIOGRAPHER of the Left.

While reading the blog, the underlying piece, and all of your comments, I came to realize an astonishing fact:

All of a sudden, B. Hussein Obama is now compared to Sarah Palin (and doesn't look too good in that comparison) while McCain is towering above that, kind of as untouchable. And this miserable creature Biden doesn't play any role anyway.

This changes the dynamics of the race completely. All the megalomania of the Obama camp didn't help - their candidate for President in direct comparison with the VP candidate of the other party. And the funny thing is, I don't see how they are going to overcome that. What a phantastic move that was!

If the dems were as unified as they claimed at the end of their convention, what's the hysteria all about? Makes me laugh.

I remember all these historians and academics, pundits,
and how they tried to discredit Reagan. They pulled out all the stops, but, they couldn't overcome the man himself. And, they were all wrong.

This lady, Sarah Palin, is no shrinking violet and I have the feeling they won't be able to overcome her either. She has a presence about her.

I hope the handlers don't try to handle her too much. I do like her spunk. Wouldn't want to hide her light under a barrel. Just let her shine.

Mr. Z...I think it IS interesting that not only did Obama's "GREAT SPEECH" TOTALLY disappear by the next morning with Palin's announcement, but that it DOES seem to be Obama v Palin now....maybe because they're the two newcomers; Obama is PALING (oh, geez, no pun intended, but I just can't change this to be THAT PC)in comparison to Palin (another pun/play on words..WEIRD!)

Pris..they're scared witless. And, yes PLEASE DON'T LET THE HANDLERS SQUELCH HER SPUNK..it is THE ONLY THING which will win the most people over. Americans LIKE SPUNK. Obama had it the first month or so after his nod, but it's gone.he's same/ol', same/ol', and proved it with the Biden nod....
Palin is ALL ABOUT SPUNK...couldn't have been a better choice!!

Excellent point , Mr. Z., about the race and who is actually competing now against whom.

Suddenly..the Obama and lack of experience is getting tossed back to the O.

And the more O talks about Sarah..the more it will hurt the O.
Man...someone is clever..is it that evil Schmidtt guy??

Hey Z!
I've been out of town for a few days and away from all technology.

You know I like this pick!!! Remember, we were saying, "What about Palin?"

Also, I'm glad the McCain camp called out the biased "experts". At least the update was printed...although it should be at the top, written as a disclaimer.
I hope they keep pointing out these MSM liberal lap dogs when they try to insert their bile into news items.

Hiya, M.A....Yup! PALIN IT IS!! Hurrrah! And oh, do I agree with you about the media; Let's hope mcCain holds their feet to the fire from now on!!

WV....SOMEBODY's got their finger on the pulse; it's not those twits I told you about who appeared like overly zealous dopes. Somebody's holding the reins and it must be that Rove protegee, tho just the thought of a Rove guy working for McCain is throwing SUCh red meat to the media you'd think they'd at least keep his provenance quiet!!!!!

STEPHANOPOULOS: But she has no national security experience.

CINDY McCAIN: You know, the experience that she comes from is what she's done in government, and remember, Alaska is the closest part of our continent to Russia.
----------------------
I fear for the future of America. Well, we know McCheese didn't marry Cindy for her brains.

This election (both sides) has to be the most painful dog and pony show we've come up with yet.

Ducky's here said...

Hey Farmer, this one's going to be ugly now it's true that I don't know nothing 'bout birthing no babies but ... you going to be screaming to see this birth certificate?

Palin doesn't look like a 16 week post birth mother of 44. If she is lying to cover up her daughter's unmarried pregnancy (her daughter was pulled from school for several months around the time of the baby's birth) then how can you trust anything else she says? It isn't the fact that her daughter got knocked up without getting married that bothers me (happens to thumper kids all the time) - it's the lying and I know how the right feels about pols lying.

Lefty Bloggers Go After Palin's Daughter

It's not even a valid claim. And yet somehow this is a bigger deal to libs than all of Obama's past relationships with criminals, racists and terrorists.

Check your priorities, ducky.

Ducky's here said...

Next they'll skewer her lying about the "Bridge to Nowhere" which she supported.

I expect a Kerry style "I supported it before I opposed it" type bashing while we get at just how much earmark corruption she cleaned up in Alaska (none).

Rove wrote the rules for the Rethugs. Now it's time to make McCheese and Palin dance to the tune. He was stupid enough not to vet the light weight.

Ducky's here said...

As a candidate for governor in 2006, she backed funding for the bridge.

After her election, however, she killed the project, saying she would use the federal funds for other purposes.

As mayor of the small city of Wasilla, Alaska, Palin appears to have made use of the system she now decries, hiring a Washington lobbyist, Steven Silver, to represent the town. Years ago, Silver worked as an aide to Stevens.

After he was hired, the city obtained funding for several projects, including a city bus facility that received an earmark valued at $600,000 in 2002. That year a local water and sewer project received $1.5 million in federal earmarks, according to Taxpayers for Common Sense, a nonpartisan watchdog organization.

-----------------------

Good stuff already coming out in the L.A. Times about Palin's graft fighting.

Well at least we know she isn't a closet Muslim. She loves Washington pork.

Ducky's here said...

In her speech in Dayton today, Gov. Sarah Palin announced that she and her husband are celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary, which means they were married on August 29, 1988.

On April 20, 1989 – less than eight months after they eloped – their first son, Track, was born.
---------------------------

Well, I'm sure they eloped to spare the unreasonable expense of a formal wedding.

Z said...

Ducky, so now you're the great moralist who believes in no sex before marriage, or..?
I know, next comment will be how her husband's gay; or maybe HE fathered the teens' child because he's home all day!
Do you know what the percentage of Down Syndrome kids born to teens is compared to the Down Syndrome kids born to 44 yr old mothers?
Do some homework, then come back and we'll deal again with you, KOS, Huffington, and the rest of those who champion every weird and debauched lifestyle until a Republican can be whispered about.
thanks.

Gee, they just put out a news release that her 17 year old is knocked up.

Time to start grilling Sarah on "abstinence only". That's the right wing teaching that the human will fails less often than a condom.

Sarah seems to be a target rich area.

ducky says: "If she is lying to cover up her daughter's unmarried pregnancy (her daughter was pulled from school for several months around the time of the baby's birth) then how can you trust anything else she says?"

Actually, Palin just announced that her daughter is pregnant. So, according to ducky's barometer, we can trust her.

Now, how about Obama's connections to criminals, racists and terrorists? I guess not quite as important, right ducky?

Z said...

Ducky! you sound as fearful of Palin's popularity as the NYTimes..what's up?

You've got the evil BIDEN and a totally inexperience pres. candidate...SMILE!

And, I'd have thought Palin went up in your estimation with an unwed mom for a daughter..you're a liberal, aren't you? CELEBRATE...!!!
