IMAGINE THIS: From now on, the major networks in America will return to:
"News at six, film at eleven"
Here is your question: How might this affect us all? Our country? Just curious................... Will we be more or less divisive as a society? Will we miss the Left and Right's discussions of every topic? Will we do better making up our own minds instead of hearing talking heads tell us how to think? What do you think?

Hiyaz Z!...wer'e so saturated with opinion and propaganda girl and so little news !!!
boring!!!... excuse me z not the post mind you, but if we went back to our news only at six and eleven...
WHT, so, if we did stop the opinion and propoganda, you'd be good with that? Just NEWS?
Pat...and you like all the other stuff, right? You don't want 'just news'.
I just wonder if the divisiveness/negativity/ arguments, etc., might improve if we weren't watching every nasty little thing across the country, if each town's news only had time to air its own murders, robberies, etc...not EVERY SINGLE tiniest crime across the nation.
I mean, do we HAVE to know from cable 24/7 about every bank robbery in Des Moines here in L.A. or in Florida?
just thought I'd throw that out there for discussion...?
we would have to start thinking for ourselves again.
No i think we need to hear from those who know more about certain subjects and areas than the average joe.
The internet brings us news from all over the world, yet people don't spend hours a day going through news items from around the globe. Well, apart from well-read folks like us on the blogosphere.
Well, first you have to give up the idea that actual journalism has existed in America since the mid-1890s.
But beyond that, don't we still live in a news-at-six-film-at-eleven media culture, if you scrape off all the "Paris Hilton's in jail" muck?
One of the greatest tragedies in American history, when the FBI / BATF commandeered the 4th Infantry Division's equipment to firebomb a strange cult's compound in Waco, Texas over alleged tax code violations was blocked out in the news by O.J. Simpson's 45 mile per hour flight from the LAPD.
One of the most fantastic speeches that President Bush ever gave was overshadowed in the "news" by Michael Jackson showing up to court for child molestation charges in his pajamas.
I'd say journalism hasn't been around in America since the 1890's, but I assume the conservative audience here can still remember I said it at the beginning of this post.
z, I would be happy with just news. I'm so tired of having the left's opinions shoved down my throat that I don't even switch on the tube any more. I've got better stuff to do...like blogging. ;)
I'd be happy with news at six and a good film at 11. Let’s face it, network news isn’t exactly intellectually stimulating ... more so sensationalist and slanted to the left...if I want more news I'll scour the net... Moreover, about that last question, the "talking heads" do not usually speak the same language as us, thus we'd be better off...
I like the left-brain then right-brain approach of news at six, film at eleven. It leads to more "reasonable" judgements and opinions.
The fact that we have citizens who are given the vote and think one of the greatest tragedies in our history was the destruction of the psychotic Waco child molester gives you an clue that the many among us have a strange source for news and opinion.
Maybe the question to ask is whether the cable news services do anything to expand your insight into a particular topic.
I find Newshour reasonably informative, national news much less so and local "news" is hopeless. I still depend on periodicals and I don't have cable because it's a lousy value.
As far as divisiveness --- rabies radio, (m)Ann Coulter, jihad watch and the rest of the junk mongers are a serious force in the dumbing of America.
beamish's whole point, dukkky, was that we've traded the actual news for the chasing of celebrity.
Off top: Just read something at Angels site, "Or, maybe I”ll have to close my blog! Been thinking about doing that, anyway!"
That would be a real pity...so you were joking right? Or have I misunderstood? Stay well...

American Interests
The endless "crapetition" of Endless News on three channels contributes to the dulling of the American Mind.
Fifteen minutes at 6:00 PM of the day's headlines repeated at 11:00 PM with updates would be sufficient.
HOWEVER, one must remember that the very process of selecting what should and should not be shown as "news" is, in and of itself, a form of censorship and dissemination of propaganda.
In the good old days the LEEFT set the agenda.
Nevertheless, tuning into the present 24-hour-a-day spectacle of News as Entertainment has become for many an obsessive/compulsive disorder–––as has blogging for that matter.
Ever since OJ and Jonbenet Ramsey, we have marched in lock-step with the media-led procession towards The Obsession of the Moment as though pursuing this trivia in stupefying detail might give our lives more meaning and significance.
What this has done is turn America into a nation of hand-wringers and ferocious gossip-mongers.
It's hardly edifying.
It's also killing our capacity for using our imagination and gaining insight.
There are lots better things to do with one's time than obsess over the latest set of media-generated talking points.

To DUCKY from FreeThinke
Not to reopen any old wounds here, but Ducky I'd be very interested [in light of what you said today about the WACO HOLOCAUST–––i.e. the BATF-generated, Reno-sanctioned Incineration of 80-odd Men, Women and Children] to hear what you think about the state government-sanctioned kidnapping, incarceration and forced diaspora of nearly five-hundred children and their mothers from the Fundamentalist Latter-Day Saints compound, also in rural Texas earlier this year?
Where do you stand on that, Ducky? An honest answer would help greatly to gain a better understanding of how your mind works.
Please don't worry. I have no interest in bashing you–––who knows we might even agree–––I'm merely interested in getting to know you better.
It would be helpful if we could learn to disagree and still retain a capacity for friendship.
Than you.
FT
No papa, any reading of Beamish's post indicates he believes that Waco was a true national tragedy of historic proportion and was blacked out by the O.J. sideshow.
This is pretty consistent with Beamish's thought.
Freethinker, I believe that the incident in Texas with the compound was a complete over reaction by law enforcement who acted without any credible evidence in a complete travesty of due process.
This can be contrasted to Waco where law officers were killed delivering valid warrants.
z, you post some articles on outing but I don't know of a single case of congressional outing nor do I know of many rumors. Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham are safe and secure as far as I know.
But, I'm in Massachusetts were being gay doesn't even generate a yawn.
Thanks, everyone...I really have been curious as to your opinions re; our news cycle. THIS is the good discussion I was looking for. Thanks so much!
Beamish said it exactly right...when OJ info trumps Waco info, we have huge problems and have moved from journalism to expoitation...and worse.
Ducky...you're anything BUT stupid; how can you not see what his point was? It's like the Left has played so heavily on your brain that you not only don't like what you hear from the Right, you don't LISTEN enough to make up your own mind! He didn't at all say what you suggest! Maybe you would like what you hear if you could get the Rose (RED?..as in Warren Beatty?) colored glasses off.
Otto, thanks very much...i have my moments! Mostly I LOVE the blogging and, ALWAYS, I am nuts about the people who honor my site with reading and commenting.. and love reading their sites, too.
MK..we need to hear the NEWS, right? Not Paris's latest fiasco, Spears' divorce in 14 segments, etc etc... sad that more people don't go to the 'net because they'd get better news. Maybe, even, ALL the news?
FT: Blogging is about the only place some of us are getting the facts... I agree about too much information (I refuse to call it news) killing so much of our ability to gain our own insight; some can reamain insightful and strong against the constant barage, but most just suck up the bad news and spit it out during their own days..negative, nasty, reflective of all we hear about this country through nonstop cable news.
it's like AMERICA CAN DO NO RIGHT ..as I said earlier, you'd think every groom kills his bride on cruise ships, little girls go missing every single day, ex cops' wives better not take baths, every single car chase in Van Nuys, CA is interesting to those in Savannah, Georgia (not), etc etc etc.. these are NOT frequent occurences in real life but to have nonstop coverage makes it seem nonstop and like America's falling apart!
FT..also...RE the FLDS situation; you've misrepresented again in the direction of your opinion. The latest news is how the mothers went to even MORE lengths to debrief their kids and get them to SHUT UP during the interrogations than we'd originally been told. WHY? Why not let their kids talk? if I can find that article, I"ll send that to you. I didn't want to wake that sleeping lion again so I didn't send it when I saw it just last week.
I don't see how Ducky's opinion is going to classify him in any way and can only imagine from your inference that you look at me and all the others who disagreed with you as less than admirable...why? We ALL have different opinions and NONE are based on stupidity or unwillingness to read and consider the news stories.
Ducky, you say "Waco where law officers were killed delivering valid warrants."
and then you say "any reading of Beamish's post indicates he believes that Waco was a true national tragedy of historic proportion"
Don't you think killing law officers is more a national tragedy than chasing OJ?
I listed sites which exactly showed that the Left is outing Republicans. See GAY BLADE, okay? check it out, if you haven't already. If you don't want to read them, please don't argue with the fact that I gave you the proof that you asked for.
and thanks SO MUCH for listing McConnell and Graham....that is EXACTLY what I was talking about; The left is so happy to infer people are gay who would rather stay in the closet (which is THEIR RIGHT), as if something's so wrong with it...while you're fighting for gay marriage. Lovely.
Re: FLDS, children's safety should come first. If one is in terrible trouble, it's better to err on the child's side.
Also, I'd like to stay ON TOPIC, please, as much as possible? thank you.
News has always been a venue for partisan propaganda; it was true in the colonies, and it is true today. It has always been a business; today we find sponsors paying millions to sell their products, to remind us about our bodily functions and the likely consequences of taking their medications. As with print media, which acknowledges that the average American has an 8th grade reading ability, electronic media tailors its news to the grossly under-educated. This might explain why all media outlets pander to patrons with a scandal sheet mentality – why news outlets format events as a never-ending soap opera … and they package it so that we can get it on the fly.
Enter sound bites … not what the individual said, but what the news media wants you to think he or she said. Media crafts it to achieve a desired (partisan) effect … and most people either accept it at face value, or it passes through that great cranial void because it isn’t understood (possibly because it isn’t soapy enough). Ergo, we have a 24/7 media that exerts a tremendous liberal influence upon the under-educated masses in order to achieve its own ends … which has more to do with socialist rhetoric and less with journalism. Possibly, the most egregious example of this was Time Magazine’s article on the so-called Haditha Massacre, which it appears never occurred. And don’t you just love how the news media ruined the tomato business this year?
I would be happy if the media simply told us the what, when, where, how and why … if they let us figure the rest out for ourselves – which is not likely to happen with so much money to be made in the “news business.”
Mustang, I agree, obviously!
RE: Haditha, that Murtha hasn't been publicly chastised on the Senate floor is unbelievable. Here was a man who condemned our soldiers three minutes into the information, never having looked for facts. But it made America look ROTTEN so TIME MAG loved it..
Sound bites have lowered my attention span, I just feel it...I really do. And I resent it. Too long an article? I don't tend to read it..that's new for me. and really an awful situation!
Germany's news is who, what, when, where and why. Mr. Z will often mention an piece of news from America being covered here, something like "they mentioned the Edwards sex scandal in Germany" and I'll ask "What did they SAY about it?" "Nothing..just the facts; they just say what happened."
How refreshing.
Also, Mustang; You are so right about tomatoes.....but think about the media effect on our economy! I'm not one to blame the whole bad economy on the media but, this honestly happened:
Nine months or so ago, I'd be hearing great numbers from the Dow Jones, or employment, whatever...and the news reader would follow that with something like "but, other this doesn't mean the economy's doing well... " or "Other reports show a negative trend.. .." (other reports are rarely quoted, of course) ...I found myself, more and more, asking myself "Why are they going SO negative?"
Suddenly, 3 months ago, when this economy started a more precipitous downward spiral, I realized (aside from the fact that there are some real causes for a bad economy) that MOST OF THE BAD NEWS had created this and it was about THE ELECTION. I honestly feel our media wanted a bad economy before this election, just to squeeze Americans into finding enchanting Obama's CHANGE they're so eagerly sucking up to without knowing they're going to PAY THRU THE NOSE FOR THAT CHANGE!!!
I agree beamish. Pop culture has all-too-often overshadowed real news.
I don't really care that Lindsay Lohan is in rehab for the eighth time. Let Entertainment Tonight or Access Hollywood cover that story and fill that time with stories that are more important to more people.
And when that happens (it never will), it would be nice if the subtle biases could be corrected....boy, now I'm asking WAY too much here. F
or instance, when someone robs a store with a gun (or shoots and kills someone), don't call them a "gunman"...they are an "armed robber" (or a "murderer"). The scumbag is the guilty party here, not the gun (and if the jackass didn't have a gun, they would have found something else to use). Another example is "suicide bomber". This just makes the idiot sound like he/she is a victim. Just tell the story using the description "bomber" and the very last sentence could be "the bomber died during the attack".
It's not that difficult....when you don't have an agenda.
m.a...I've always hated 'suicide bomber', too. HOMICIDE BOMBER is a better way to say it!
And yes, the agenda's far more important than the truth.
Like YOUTH used for MUSLIM KIDS in the European press...it's always YOUTH...when the truth is they could better identify it .
here, we only identify blonde killers...never any other sort. Just a few weeks ago, there was a church killing, remember? First thing id'd was BLONDE...I mean MINUTES after the first news stories. It only jarred me because we never usually get id like that so quickly....
FUnny, in Seattle, at the Jewish Center, about 2 years ago, the media took weeks to mention 'dark and swarthy' as a description of the id'd killers...
We wouldn't know about every single minor incident that is happening in this country or on this planet. We got along fine without for many years. When every celebrity faux pas, not mention every murder, becomes a national story there is too much news. (These murders are important, but most of them carry only local significance.)
---------------------------
Maybe because the economy at the moment really does suck eggs?
Investment banks are still writing down huge sums (check out JP Morgan and UBS today).
Employment is very weak.
Inflation reports worldwide are high.
About a third of home owners are under water on their mortgage and the average home price hasn't budged above 2003 levels.
That ain't too good. Where do you get your financial news? Barron's, Nightly Business Report, Forbes, Business Week, the Economist?
z, since you bring up "dark and swarthy" it would be a good idea to point out that Randy Weaver (and other Christian Identity feral animals) has quite a positive following with the libertarians.
Now the Christian Identity movement has been identified in anti-semitic killings as well as foreigners etc. and a violent threat but they were defended by the right and there was much outcry about loss of civil rights which disappeared as the identity of the enemy changed.
When it comes to the news, I prefer the Dragnet approach no matter what the time: "Just the facts, ma'am."
I hardly watch the news anymore. I got tired of screaming "Why is this on the news?!?" at the nightly American Idol segments.
thanks for proving my point again, Ducky. I'm telling you the numbers had been good and I kept wondering why the gloom and doom add-on by the media. It worked..no problem.
Maybe if we had a Repub dominated congress, this all wouldn't have been so bad; maybe their numbers would even be in double digits....they're lower than Bush's ratings now and Bush's ratings are low mostly because people forget the congress is what's calling a lot of the shots.
Funny about the CHRISTIAN IDENTITY movement...I'm a Christian and I've never even heard that name..?
Must be all Christians are bad because of one abortion doc killer, right, Duck? Why is it you don't condemn ALL mUS LIMS when 19 of them kill 3000 Americans?
Brooke..you don't say much but the few words you use always are SO RIGHT..so absolutely on the money. thanks..xx
My first thought: okay, so this is predicated upon what? You have inside information that cable shows are leaving? That a version of the "Fairness Doctrine" is coming?
BZ
Must be all Christians are bad because of one abortion doc killer, right, Duck? Why is it you don't condemn ALL mUS LIMS when 19 of them kill 3000 Americans?
--------------------------
I don't condemn all Christians, just as I don't condemn all Muslims.
But it is interesting that you are unaware of the Christian Identity movement which has been behind a lot of terrorist activity (remember Oklahoma City?). They are a fringe extremist group much as al-Qaeda is fringe. All extreme fundamentalism is dangerous.
z, you may be interested in researching Phil Gramm's (John McCain's economics adviser) function as an executive at UBS and his role in gutting regulation (i.e. The Enron exception).
I don't see a lot of discussion on right wing boards about the current price of oil. No drilling and even with Russia rolling tanks it's down almost 40% from its high.
Now was that because the rules on margins in the commodity markets are being enforced (over Gramm's objections and by extension McCain's) or because a lame duck president with no power whatsoever said he was lifting the offshore drilling ban?
I suspect the commodity rules.
But oil pricing is complicated and we aren't going to get to an understanding without responsible reporting which is tough to come by and it sure ain't coming from cable star Jim Cramer.
Thank you, Ducky, for answering my question. I could find no other venue in which to ask it, and the incidents both at WACO and the FLDS compound share striking similarities, though each had many differences as well, but the implications regarding intrusive, over-reaching aspects of government power are the same in each case.
I have to agree with the others, however, who believe the events at WACO were of far greater significance and had greater ramifications for the entire populace than the sordid matter of a sociopathic sports celebrity's marathon show trial.
The trial of OJ started a whole new–––highly lamentable–––trend in television journalism. Those who criticize the tabloidesque, quasi-National Enquirer tone of FOX and other 24-hr OCD News channels are quite right in their disapproval. It's low-class voyeurism at best, and a BIG waste of America's time.
~ FreeThinke
PS: While I have you, what are your thoughts regarding the handling of Elian Gonzalez? I imagine I'd find your answer interesting. - FT
Another question for Ducky:
How do you connect the Oklahoma City bombing with any sort of Christian movement?
That Tim McVeigh was a white VFW who was certainly descended from folks who at one time or another most probably identified themselves as Christian doesn't really qualify McVeigh, himself, as any sort of Christian worthy of the name.
Your tone seems to be saying that the Christian Identity Movement is an evil organization that more-than-likely sponsored the OKC Atrocity. I'd like to know a little bit more about it without drawing the thread too far away from the problems presented by 'round the clock News Channels spewing garbage that masquerades as news.
Thanks.
FreeThinke
Christian Identity is a very very tiny group of nuts that goes back to the weird idea that the British are the Lost Tribes of Israel (which were never lost anyway, -- except their tribal identity was lost -- they were merely absorbed into the other nations of the Middle East and mostly into the Samaritans). This group shouldn't even be spoken of in connection with Christianity at all. They have rejected most of what the Christian church teaches. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Identity
As for my opinion about the topic, I've stopped watching TV (again, I do this from time to time) and my mental health is much the better for it. I don't need the news at 6 (of course I can't avoid it when I go online so it's hard to know if it makes much of a difference) or the film at 11 (especially since I discovered I can watch some great old movies for free on my own computer through my daughter's Netflix account -- Well, she isn't using it lately. I'd happily join, it's only a few bucks a month but she wants me to use her account).
In other words, the only place I go to get ulcers over politics is GeeeZ.
cj, thanks for the info re; this supposed "Christian" group. Of course, Christians get much more lumped together with the more evil amongst them than the Left will allow mus lims to be lumped together....
I think it's pretty indicative that this group is not really Christian and not very well known if I hadn't ever heard of it. But, it gets brought up. Nobody I know on the Right would defend any such behavior as Ducky describes, either, of course! But, the innuendo's there...no innuendo re: CAIR or any other pro mus lim group may exist because we'd then be reffered to as RACIST.
I believe six/eleven news wouldn't be 1/3 as toxic if there WAS no other news. They'd have to limit it to FACTS and PERTINENT stories...that would be better if someone's interested in knowing what's going on.
gee, thanks,CJ.
But, I think you're far better informed than if you only relied on this blog!
Personally Z I think that the news is over-rated anyways. All they do 24/7 is reiterate the same garbage with a twist. They over report and in some cases under report. They all lie and none are fair and balanced - even FNC has lost it.
I think the old fashioned way was better and people were kinder and gentler because they were not inundated with bad news all day and all night.
LAYLA, that is EXACTLY what I think. Thanks for coming by!
Oh, Film at Eleven refers to the rebroadcast of the news? I don't think I ever heard that phrase before. Oh well, Netflix has a better choice of movies too.
I guess what I was trying to say was that while the news coverage is untrustworthy and repetitive and sometimes outrageously biased, and while I can do without all the celebrity gossip, I think after I've picked up some of the facts here and there, from the blogs and so on, even the real news in small doses is hard enough to take, with bad effects on one's state of mind, so I'm not sure that streamlining it back to just the facts, ma'am, would improve life all that much.
That is, my stomach is still in a knot from reading about the invasion of Georgia on the opening day of the Olympics and that's just a tiny bit of what's going on in the world.
And there's always political email. One of my email friends sent me an item about a business owner in your neck of the woods, Z, Santa Monica, who has pro-Israel anti-Palestinian signs in her window and attracted an activist mob for "hate speech" who want to shut down her business. Well, she DID use terms like "rag-head" and "pig" and "pedophile."
I'd really like to have a tiny little cabin somewhere in the total boonies without any kind of electronic anything, to get away from it all for a while.
But then the serial killer would find me . . .
Cj..why would anybody with a cause that good go overboard THAT badly? "pigs?" Whatever one thinks, the people on the right side of things lose their point when they do this...sad. Sort of like some of the stuff Coulter says, sadly....the left hides behind her LANGUAGE in a pretty good smokescreen to avoid listening to what she's really saying, which is usually dead right.
Yes, "News at five, film at eleven" used to be said because it took the film from the news story that long to get back to the studio, developed, and on the air! Imagine, when today we have newscasts over the telephone from remote areas of Afghanistan? I think it made for nicer times...slower news..slower film...heck, by the time the film was developed, some stories were probably completely changed in their content with new information?
I'd love to see less of the GARBAGE that fills the 24/7 newscycle and which is killing America from within/ CONSTANT negative...drip drip drip. It's like Chinese water torture!
SEE?? I always say the "Chinese are killing us softly!" even in ways they don't KNOW :-)
Hi All,
Does anyone here think we could ever again get who, what, where, when news that's not biased, if we ever had it in the first place?
I would love that, but, it ain't gonna happen!
We've been told, what a speechmaker was going to say, or what he just "meant" for years. Long before cable - 24/7 coverage. I resented it then, and resent it now.
We didn't find out about Cronkite's true political bent until years after he retired. We may have suspected it, but, let's face it we were stuck with it.
Opinion is fine as long as it's declared up front. I enjoy commentary.
However, a lot can be accomplished, by a biased reporter in his view, just through avoidance of certain facts.
That line between commentary and reporting has been blurred, and I don't see any way to prevent it.
Reporters are not supposed to be in the business of deciding what we should or should not know.
Straight reporting should be ..."just the facts maam".
Ducky, - I don't know why you brought up Randy Weaver, but perhaps you can tell me why he was set up for what could only be called his "crime" for living outside what some might call the traditional "norm" as defined by liberals.
And this required an assault on his home and family, which resulted in the deaths of his wife and son?
Since the government felt it necessary to compensate him for his loss with a sizeable monetary settelment, it would seem the powers that be had to concede that, that little family living in the middle of nowhere, had done nothing to deserve their fate.
Pris
Pris is right again–––come to think of it, when is she not? ;-)
The horse is out of the barn, the genie is out of the bottle, and the fox is in the chicken house, etc.
Whenever a revolutionary kind of technology is discovered and developed, the worst aspects of human nature (some would call that the Devil) ALWAYS find a perverse use for it that lines someone's pocket with ungodly amounts of gold while having a profoundly deleterious effect on society.
It's just the way of the world. The style and substance of the means by which we live may change–––and we certainly HAVE made great progress–––but there's an underlying current of perversity, fear, envy, greed and ill will in human nature that never really changes, and sooner or later it will befoul our lives in some unexpected way.
I, personally, think it does little good to dream about a world where evil and adversity cease to exist. In fact I have a sneaking suspicion that adversity fuels the engine that causes us to discover new and better ways of doing things–––and of relating to each other.
I've said it before, but it's worth repeating: Without POLARITY there would be no BALANCE, and all would soon spin wildly out of control.
"O rest in the Lord; wait patiently for Him, and He shall give thee thy heart's desires. Commit thy way unto him and trust in Him, and FRET NOT THYSELF BECAUSE of EVILDOERS. O rest in the Lord; wait patiently for Him." (emphasis added)
He works in mysterious ways. What we fear most may be exactly what we need.

FT....it's an interesting thought to ponder, that's all, that's why I suggested it; nobody suggests this 24/7 news cycle's going to stop...too much MONEY associated with its continuance!!. Anyone who doesn't think we'd be somewhat better off without CONSTANT NEGATIVE NEWS is either not taking the news seriously (God bless them for the ability, right?) or on heavy doses of Prozac, in my humble opinion!
A shame that just citing an incident such as Waco..which should never have happened, nor Ruby Ridge , by the way, brings on people throwing up the GAY CARD..just like throwing up the Race card.
Just stop that stuff, it helps nothing.
SOme of us don't care if people want to bugger cucumbers or road kill or what ever.
And yes, if people want to be "gay" and not talk about it, it is their business.
Yes, I think this 24 -7 "news" has gone insane .
If we have special events like terrorist attacks, I think we can scrape up coverage, but in the meantime, the tripe that passes as news is awful.
So, I don't watch it.
I read everything off the internet.
WVDOTTR
GOOD POINTS, WV......thanks for comin' by..
Ducky,
When did the BATF get jurisdiction over "child molestation" cases? Why are child molestation allegations not mentioned in the warrants the BATF attempted to serve? Why have all investigations of the "child molestation" accusation not produced any evidence of wrongdoing or convictions of crimes?
If the BATF had accurate intelligence going in to serve warrants to David Koresh and cult / company, why did they convoy have to stop to ask for directions to the Branch Davidian compound?
Is it standard operating procedure to make a commando assault on a church just to serve a warrant on an alleged federal firearms sales tax code violation (that turned out to be untrue).
Yes, the Waco Siege was one of the greatest tragedies in the history of American journalism, and American history itself.
