Priscilla's Post: DEMOCRATS voting REPUBLICAN?

Let's hope this is a trend!

YOU'RE VOTING FOR WHOM?

My sister's close friend, a long standing liberal Democrat, whispered in her ear, "don't tell anyone....I'm voting for McCain." Of course, my sister, a good conservative and confidante, had to tell me! My sister didn't ask her friend why; she didn't want to break the spell.

All this was before Barack Obama's Pastor broke the spell. In fact, it seems my sister's friend didn't like Obama or Hillary. Could it be that she wants to continue feeling safer knowing the President is using every method he has available to him to protect Americans? Or maybe Hillary's talent for speaking like a kindergarten teacher is like fingernails on a blackboard? (Unbearable)

Today, this very morning, it happened again! A friend of mine, also a Democrat, told me, "If McCain, being seventy-two, picks a running mate who is qualified to take over the presidency, I think he's got a good chance of winning." When I suggested I thought Romney would be a good choice, given his executive experience as Governor and his success as a businessman, it would make a well balanced ticket. She said, "Yes,Romney would be good."

She didn't come out and say she would vote for McCain, but when's the last time a Democrat was concerned about the Republican running mate? Heck, when's the last time a Republican was concerned with a Republican running mate? After all, didn't Bush 41 win with Dan Quayle?

Perhaps you had to be there, but I got the distinct impression she will vote for McCain, especially if Obama is the Democrat candidate. Of course, this friend told me this after the Pastor Wright-Obama revelations and I have to say she looked very disheartened about that, like she'd been punched in the stomach. Yes, I can have compassion for a Democrat, especially if she'll
vote Republican!

Finally, today on talk radio, I heard Democrats calling in with tremulous voices tinged with anger or resignation, saying that, if Obama is the Democrat nominee, they will vote Republican. Most of them for the first time.
Before or after the Obama-Wright revelations, it seems Democrats are jumping ship, and who'd have thought that an important political decision would be the result of a sermon at a church called Trinity United Church of Christ?

McCain owns the chessboard Obama or Hillary will play on.

By current polling:

If Obama wins the nomination, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Washington, and New Hampshire will join the 2004 election red states to hand John McCain a 331 - 207 victory in the Electoral College (Missouri flips blue). Oregon and California are in play, and perhaps close enough to put McCain into landslide victory territory.

If Hillary wins the nomination, McCain wins 314 to 224, as Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania flips red and Ohio flips blue.

If true, the underlying fact is that Americans are not ready for:
(1) A president who will not wear a flag pin;
(2) A president who will not cross his heart during the National Anthem;
(3) A president who sympathizes with racist/separatist dogma;
(4) A president who has no responsible plan for America; or
(5) A First Lady who is not proud of her country.

Now we understand why the Obama’s are not proud of their country. A McCain presidency is good news (to me), but I have no doubt that in a contest between Obama/McCain, a victory for McCain's win will only confirm (in the minds of many blacks) that whites are racists. These are the signs of our times.

GREAT post!

I wish all of this was happening on October 20th, there's a lot of time between now and voting day.

mustang, that's my friend Priscilla's post...I like her to write a column once in a while and I'm glad you liked it, too!

Your underlying facts are things most of us would agree with. I'd like to see a university polled about that. Or, maybe I would NOT like to see it. Yes, I'd definitely not want to see that.

Even worse for Obama and the Dems was BHO's phone interview today in which he tried to make throwing his grandma under the bus look not so bad.

He said that she wasn't really a racist, but is just a typical WHITE WOMAN.

So now women, particularly white women, are racists?

LOL! Way to kill your candidacy before it even gets started, Obama!

Brooke... am I living in a dream world to think that we are far, far less racist than some blacks think? I honestly don't know a racist, at least nobody close to me. So many people I know feel that Jesse Jackson, Sharpton and Rangel make livings keeping Black America down...and it so feels that way. There is SO little celebration from them that a Black man has risen to this point AND has so many of WHITE AMERICA on his side (or did, until recently!)... where's the "Wow, doesn't seem to BE much racism, huh!?"

Sure, there are white supremacist nuts....we all know that, but in general...? A black girlfriend of ours told us we haven't SEEN racism till we've sat in a black barber shop or beauty salon. That was something I was surprised to hear.

Anyway..ya......Obama's busy calling white women racist and the msm will yawn, if that. typical.

Part of the black leadership is already calling Obama a white sell-out. They've got a vested interest in the narrative that says that an honest black man can't catch a break...

Man, Farmer John, this is sickening.
WHY do fine people fall for this crap? And then sell it to their kids, too?
There are so many good, honest, American Blacks in America. I so wish they'd rise up and condemn these so called 'leaders'.
A black girlfriend of mine always says "They're not MY leaders!"
but, I guess they, like most of America, have a living to make and kids to raise....unless you believe Jackson and Sharpton and feel the gov't has to hand it to you, huh?

FJ,

They've got a vested interest in the narrative that says that an honest black man can't catch a break...

And the DemoKKKratic Party pays them well for it, as long as they launder some campaign finance money and confine their complaining to shaking down people willing to see it for what it is.

Hillary Clinton was going to win Pennsylvania anyway. Democrat election judges have been counting votes for Hillary Clinton in Philadelphia since at least 2004.

Obama just needed to be kicked really hard right before the Pennsylvania primary, to make Hillary's impending victory there seem relevant nationally.

Obama was given an offer he shouldn't have refused - drop out of the race and be Hillary Clinton's VP running mate. Now he'll continue to wake up next to a severed horse's head.

The Jeremiah Wright thing was a shot across the bow from Hillary's camp. They've been saving this one a while.

But give credit where credit is due. While this plays out, with more and more media coverage chasing the Obama blood in the water, the more the leftie Democrat base will be out doing the widebrush smear of evangelical Christians. Which will certainly help Hillary Clinton beat John McCain, huh?

;)

White racism represents one plausible explanantion for what ails black America. I can't deny that there is a certain measure of truth in the charge, only I believe there never before in the history of mankind has the charge ever been "less true" than today.

The charge is appealing because it means that there's nothing the person making the charge needs to do to "change" the situation except complain louder. And let's face it, until recently "complaining louder" worked to get billions of $$$ pumped into inner cities and the black community. Unfortunately, all that has gone for naught, as there was nothing to "hold it there". It when in one pocket, and out the other.

The influx of $$$ has also propelled us to a greater acceptance of socialism and government intervention into daily American life. It has created a moral hazard that is growing larger and larger by the minute. And unless we address the problem, it will consume us all.

BAM!

{This is significant, and my instincts say it's understated... barring some freak scandal that makes McCain look bad, the Mav is looking like a landslider... Democrats hate their own frontrunners, in significant numbers... 20%!!!]

Brooke,
I have a blog on cafemom..an all women site, and you nailed it from their perspective...well, at least the conservatives; I don't listen to the libs. LOL

I remember years ago watching a program done by a black PhD..don't recall his name, where he delineated between 'prejudice' and 'racism.' Perhaps many of you saw the same thing or some version of it. He did a study wherein a person is stuck in an unfamiliar neighborhood and needs to prevail upon someone to use their telephone--obviously before cellphones. MOST, if not ALL, people would pass up a ClOSER person of opposite race to get to someone of their own race. That's NORMAL prejudice: a comfort zone with LIKE or 'birds of a feather.' That's what Obama was talking about with his grandmother: prejudice, not only of race, but of 'AGE'. She would LIKELY be no MORE comfortable with a bunch of YOUNG white men she had to pass either.

There is a HUGE divide between that normal prejudice and the racist rantings of Rev. Wright.

Not to mention that the MOST frightening thing about Wright and Obama's association with him has nothing to do with RACISM, no matter how offensive, and EVERYTHING to do with his anti-American, Marxist perspective...Obama very POINTEDLY turned it INTO a RACE discussion because he cannot EVEN defend the Marxism...it would cost him RIGHT NOW...and he knows it. So he made it about race and tried to use his bi-racial background to again put forward how HE of all people is the one to bridge the divide...

WE need to keep the focus on Wright's Marxist ideals...AND OBAMA'S...maybe SOME MORE folks will wake up and smell the tyranny.

Obama said his granny was not really racist, just a typical white woman.
Oh gee, isn't that just precious?

I really think good old Obama has been kept locked up in an ivory tower ( no racial overtones intended here.).

The man just does not know how to talk to people, period, what a snotty jerk.

OUTSTANDING post Priscilla! I've heard this twice myself from Democrat women. They were both customers who volunteered this information upon seeing the Romney stickers on my work truck. Both of them were Obama voters before the Rev. Wright episode and BOTH voted twice for Clinton (Monica's boyfriend). Now they're voting McCain.

I'll say it again, Hillary is a stronger opponent! The matchup polls have been wrong about this from the start.

Watch out for Algore. He's going to end up as the nominee. I'll bet he's down to two Jenny Craigs/day in preparation. :-)

NW; what the heck kind of message would that be from Obama's grandmother to HIM? "YOu're half Black and I fear young Black men!"? maybe THIS is why he's such a mess and loves Rev Wright's message? EXCELLENT point about OUR getting off the RACISM thing and focusing on the ANTI AMERICAN thing. I think that's what Dems seem to be doing...it even opened THEIR eyes! Who knew?

WVDottr: I'm not sure about that. I think Obama's more street smart, savvy, than we give him credit for. He sure can speak; he just speaks as a liar and a snake oil salesman. "snotty jerk"? you bet.

Morgan....I've been fighting you on this "Hillary's the stronger opponent" thing; but maybe you're right. Algore? MAN! COULD that happen? Could Hill and Obama be IN on that? As long as she gets Sec of State and Obama gets VP or something? Pact with the devil?

that's okay...I don't think algore could win. How about you?

As for the jenny craigs!? HILARIOUS!
Good to see you all here!

As you know Z, I've said Hillary's the stronger one for months now. The only reason is Obama's truly a rookie and McCain would pop his balloon in NO TIME FLAT! Hillary has seen to it that he gets his first BIG hit in the primaries. We will find out soon enough that the beast is behind the passport "problem" at the State Department. I'll bet we find out that some Clinton appointee at State was dirt-digging on B. Hussein, got caught and pulled Hill and McCain's files too.

The Dems are probably DESPERATE behind the scenes. Neither of these fools can beat McCain, which is why they'll choose the one Dem who the left will unite behind, ALGORE.

Prez- Algore
Veep- B. Hussein
Senate Leader- Hillary

I know this sounds "out there", but have you ever noticed how the Dems accuse Republicans of the most BIZARRE and conspiratorial things?
They are exposing their own behavior. This is how they do things. The party leadership would dismiss the "will of the people" in a NY MINUTE!

Z,
He didn't say that she feared HIM. LOL You know, it doesn't take alot of intuition or astuteness to notice these things, even if they are not verbalized.

I can recall many times, either during movies or out travelling with my grandmother where her physical stiffening up when a group of 'hoodlum-looking' young men appeared. Like I said, even in movies you would hear her, "uh-oh"...and the race didn't even seem to matter.

I can recall my neighbor leaving my car AFTER she tells me some guys in Raider jackets and bandanas stopped to see if she needed any help....My immediate response was "great, they're probably stripping it right now..."..does that make me a racist? Cause, guess what...THEY WERE stripping my car when my friend got back to it...AND, they pulled a gun on her.

My point was some of that is generational, some has to do with the attire of the guys i.e. suits versus Raider jackets, with the particular neighborhood, with the time of day...and ALL of it is natural. If something as natural as that would DRIVE him to anyone, he's not the 'intellectual' he paints himself to be. You gonna tell me HE wouldn't have a 'reaction' if he was walking alone and a group of white skin-head looking guys, or red-neck looking guys came walking by?...He's a LIAR if he says no, IMO. LOL

I think Obama's mama's politics had a lot more to do with Wright's attractiveness than anything his grandmother LOVED him enough to be HONEST with him about...: )I don't know alot about her, but she seems to have been very drawn to that left side of the spectrum, don't you think?

FJ "Moral Hazard" scares me to death. This country seems to be comprised of mostly MORAL HAZARDS right now. Our kids are moral hazards....being spoon fed moral hazardism by their profs every single day. How do we escape THAT?

NW: I think Obama couldn't have rec'd a GOOD message watching a beloved grandma fearful of what's half of him. And, oh yes...I think his mama was way to the left.

morgan; can you imagine a moderate/centrist voting for that sweaty windbag (not an easy accomplishment for anyone!!)algore?

Z,
It's pretty clear that what she was afraid of was being MUGGED, do you honestly believe that anyone BUT someone LOOKING FOR FAULT would decide that it was ONLY the SKIN color of the man that caused her FEAR, and NOT what the individual was doing? That's the absurdity of Obama's claim. That she NOTED his color while telling her husband about 'the attempted mugging." If Barak saw that as some kind of 'racist' commentary on her part, he was ALREADY LOOKING FOR IT. IMO

If my grandmother was almost mugged, by a white person, I would not think her ISSUE was with white people, but with MUGGERS. Perhaps that is the luxury of being white that they all speak about.

What I NOTICE is it isn't his WHITENESS that he embraces. And that's where I think Geraldine Ferraro was unfairly treated...it IS more beneficial in THESE TIMES running against a WOMAN, that his skin color IS a benefit..if not, why has he put so much into schmoozing with the AA community? In their PRIMARY...it IS the black vote that he needs, because he's running against another minority favorite of the Dem party, a woman. In the general, he will have to win whites...and I believe you'll see a shift then. Right now, it was okay to throw grandma under the bus, because he's after Dem whites with guilt and the AA community vote...they have no problem with his disregarding the impact of the white lineage in his life.

I have had very close relationships with mulatto children in my lifetime, as a step mother figure and currently as an aunt...none of them has ever had a problem discussing race or discussing the way it is USED dishonestly etc. ( I did a post which was apparently rejected by the moderation process detailing a direct experience I have had with real racism...) Barak was playing the race card, plain and simple.

And, my grandmother's being unnerved by ANY young person whom she didn't know or who had attempted to do her harm would not impact me as a 'racial' commentary ...like I said, unless I was LOOKING FOR IT.
