SHUT UP, Conservatives, a grrrrreat video! Conservative wins in Europe, Lebanon wins, and a possible surprising result in IRAN...it's all here...

"Shut up, CONSERVATIVES!?" Well, maybe that's working in America, but Mr. Z's here to show you it didn't work in Europe. Here's his overview of the significant Conservative win this weekend in Europe:

The 27 States of the European Union held an election this weekend for its Parliament. These elections were important since an increasing number of laws are made by the EU government, and the Parliament which, until today, had an advisory function, will get a larger role in the control of the European Commission, including monetary responsibility. The elections will make it more difficult for the passing of the „EU Constitution“, and they confirm the increasing anger of the people in all countries about the rise of Islam and illegal immigration..

The results of the elections were surprisingly clear: Europe has made a significant turn toward the right, with big wins of conservative, centrist, and EU-critical parties in practically all countries. At the same time, the Socialists in most countries lost big time (in Germany they achieved their worst result in major elections since WW II), while the Green parties maintained their level. The number of countries where the Socialists received more votes than the conservatives shrunk dramatically while, in all other countries, the conservative and centrist parties received most of the votes. The most notable changes happened in the UK, where the Labour Party slipped to 14.5% or fourth place (with the Tories in first place), in Spain, where the conservatives won big time over Zapatero’s Socialists, and in Hungary, Portugal, Bulgaria, Slovenia, etc. To be noted also are the substantial gains by the specifically anti-Islam parties in Holland and Denmark, two countries which suffered substantially from Islamic terror while they were still liberal and they are now both governed by conservative governments fighting the influence by Islamists in their countries.

The trend to more conservative voting has been visible for quite a number of years in Europe. This election reinforced the trend, with three factors generally believed to contribute to its success: (1) The drifting of the Socialist parties further into the vicinity of Communism has hurt them because the people recognize that redistribution and additional taxes cannot be in the interest of the people at large or the State, (2) bail-outs and huge debts proposed by the Socialists in this economic crisis are seen as counter productive, and (3) the non-existent approach by the Left to the Islamic and illegal immigrant problem is seen as catastrophic. In addition, specifically for the EU, the increasing influence by the EU bureaucracy on internal affairs of the member States is seen by most people as far too intrusive. (the graphic above here is only from GERMANY...CDU is the most Conservative mainstream party..SPD is the more liberal mainstream..the GRUNE, are the Environmentalist/anti-nuke people, the FDP is centrist/business party, Linke (or THE LEFT) is the COMMUNISTS, CSU is the Bavarian Sister party to the Conservative mainstream party, and "sonst" is miscellaneous splinter parties. just to clarify if you're that interested. Add the CSU, CDU and FDP and that's a clear majority for the CONSERVATIVES, considering the splinters would fall away and, in the German parliament, this would translate to a whopping 55%...don't forget, Merkel's has had to juggle her conservatism with the liberals in parliament; if an election happened today, she'd be saaaaailing...rather like Obama is in our Dem. controlled Congress, with nothing to stop him. But, she's learned about socialism, the hard, very personal way, and he won't until America's drowning and we'll be the only ones who'll understand what hit her, when Liberals will be wishing they'd listened to US)

The paradigm has shifted substantially: While European countries are moving toward the right, the U.S. is doing just the opposite, far beyond the so-called „achievements“ of social policies in Europe, right into the vicinity of Communism with very similar goals, against all the obvious experiences of the past, such as the failure of East Germany.

By the way, the article goes to great pains to make sure readers learn the big winning politician is a billionaire and how he "celebrated from his MANSION!"...get it? Saul Alinsky is STILL in gear in America's reporting. "He's RICH, must be BAD" Check it out.

Check THIS OUT from Agence France Presse....They are GLOWING at the Obama visit, or so it seems. They seem surprised that the Obama's paid for their meal, too. One Frenchman said he felt like he'd 'seen God'...I guess that's pretty popular lately?(make sure you watch that, by the way...thanks, Always On Watch).

Yes, the piece about the restaurant meal 'forgot' to report about the food taster. But, see the second link,...it happened.

What I'D like to know is who the sacrificial lamb who was willing to die for Obama is and how much they paid him? I wouldn't do that....even for French food, and that's saying something!

IN THE INTEREST OF FAIRNESS: Blogger Wordsmith from Nantucket comments that Bush did this once, too, in London....Yes, the Brits were not happy then, either..(article linked by Wordsmith on my comment page) ..If I were that nervous, I don't know WHAT I'd do; eat at one's own embassy, I guess? D DAY and Obama's Egypt Speech

D Day....we should all remember

Did you find your pal, sir, in that huge cemetery overlooking the ocean at Normandy? Had you fought with him but he lost the fight and you didn't? Or maybe he was your brother and you finally made it to his grave so many miles from home, all these years later, and what you really want to do is not just touch the top of the cross like you did but kneel on the grass and finally cry for that older brother who taught you how to throw a football and promised he'd come back and broke your Mom's heart when she got the telegram? If you fought together, did you rub your fingers across his name when you found his grave and think about the last cigarette you guys had, or the last beer, maybe in London? Do you remember his smile and how he kept promising you that you guys would get out of there alive and meet in 50 years to reminisce about it and how you hoped he was right? Do you remember how he couldn't wait to get back to his home town and marry his high school sweetheart? Did you have kids and remember that he never did, and do you think of him every time one of your children has a birthday? Do you wonder if his sweetheart's thinking about him today even though she must have gone on to marry someone else?

I salute you, sir. And I'm glad you made it. And I'm so grateful to your friend...or your brother, if that's the case. God bless his soul resting in peace all these years, God bless you, and God bless this great country you both fought for.

Two phrases from Obama's Egypt speech; what do you think of them?

Mr. Obama said these two sentences in his speech in Cairo.

"And I consider it part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear." (Do YOU know anybody who voted for a president who considers protecting Islam part of the JOB? I'd sure love for him to say that about Christianity and Judaism in OUR country!! Wouldn't you?)

"So I have known Islam on three continents before coming to the region where it was first revealed." ("revealed" ..what a very Islamic way to put it)

My good buddy Susannah at Get the Big Picture Blog has a good post on the speech singling out other very interesting points, check it out. But, I remembered, as I listened, that the two lines above REALLY made me think..."WHAT?"

Here are the FOURTH AND FIFTH ANSWERS in our continuing series with Frogburger. Thanks for your previous support and amazing comments! For those of you who didn't see the first three answers or what prompted this interview series, please click HERE and HERE, make sure you read the excellent comments there and then come back and read these two....I know you'll appreciate this French new- American's insights:

4. Did you actually like McCain enough to vote for him or disliked Obama's policies so much you couldn't vote for him? And, when did you become a citizen?

I became a US citizen in 2006 so I was able to vote for the primary and presidential elections.

In the primary, I voted for Ron Paul because of my libertarian streak and my beliefs in Austrian economic theories.

For my first presidential election, I voted for McCain but made my final choice while in line at the polling place. I was not very enthusiastic about him and was very disappointed when he decided to vote for the bank bailout and created all that drama about going back to Washington to save the day! He missed a major opportunity to inform the citizens about the content of the bill, which is anti-democratic in nature.

Unlike my wife, I was also not convinced by Sarah Palin, despite her executive experience in Alaska. Obama and her were rookies and the criticisms for lack of experience were justified on both sides.

There was no way I could vote for Obama because of his Marxist ideas. When I learned he may have once belonged to the Socialist New Party that was it. (Just use Google!)

In general, I cannot vote for people whose sole message is to defend the oppressed, the poor, the minorities and the victims, even though it sounds wonderful and generous. The reason is simple: people who get elected with those message have no interest in getting people out of their situation. Indeed, they would shoot themselves in the foot and lose their electorate.

Do you think the Socialist Party has improved people’s lives in France when it got elected in the 80s? Poverty hasn’t improved in France despite the welfare state. Yet the Socialist Party still blames globalization and free market for creating poverty. Why would they change the message? Their “market shares “depend on maintaining the lower and lower-middle classes. At least it seems as though the French citizens are not getting fooled anymore. The Socialist Party is in disarray and may not get 20% of votes at the European election.


5. You told me your American wife was a liberal but has changed. What do
you think really convinced her to think more like you do? Was there one
issue which finally persuaded her or did just opening her eyes to various
things make an impact more?

My wife used to be registered as a Democrat but I don’t think she ever was a Liberal. She switched side when she realized how extreme the Democratic Party leadership was getting.

Since I met her she has gotten very informed about various topics she had never studied in school, especially economics. I also briefed her many times on the subject as I studied it for 4 years in high school and college. She’s realized – through facts – that lefty ideas, as generous as they seem, don’t work (debt, unemployment rates, brain drain). I highly recommend Thomas Sowell’s books in this regard. The shallow thinking of the left as understanding economic principles is demolished in those books, and I wish pseudo-journalists on big networks would actually know a lot more about economics before emitting their opinion.

She’s also very independent and cannot imagine a French-like system in which people would give their freedom away for some economic security provided by the government. Even though her parents were middle lower class, her upbringing was typical about America. It was about making a better life for oneself through hard work without government intervening in your life.

As someone from a modest family, she has also realized the hypocrisy of the anti-bourgeois left that want to control CEOs’ salaries while behaving like aristocrats who despise Middle America.

When we met, one of the first things I mentioned in my attempt to explain my dislike for the left was the hypocrisy of the socialist leaders in France. They would raise taxes but, very much like Geithner, would try not to pay theirs. Fabius, who was Minister of the Economy under Mitterrand in the 80s, actually passed a law to give tax breaks to antiques dealers because his father was one. She now realizes this hypocrisy is also typical of the American left.

But I’m not the only one who convinced her. Things really changed for her when Ron Paul ran in the primary. His message really resonated in her and she’s the one who actually made me interested in him. She read his books and started getting even more informed on issues when the GOP Primary started. For the first time in her life, she really paid attention.

And by just paying attention, reading and getting knowledgeable, she turned into a Conservative.

David Carradine has been found after having committed suicide. I was a huge fan of his father, the great actor John Carradine whom I had the honor of meeting and talking with for quite a while one night many years ago.......out of respect for him, I post a goodbye to his son.

And please say a prayer for all those people lost in the Atlantic Ocean ... and their many friends and family who are in such extreme shock and grief. Thanks.
