some of THE BEST music you'll hear...make sure you stick to the end
Our friend Karen's blog had a beautiful country song on it today and it got me to thinking about country music and particularly the video above......it's got the finest musicians in country EVER...all together, doing RESTLESS. Check out their smiles of appreciation for their fellow players, it's something you see a lot in country music and, as a musician, I can tell you there isn't anything better than seeing the best appreciated by the best. You will love it. I adore Mark O'Connor, the fiddler AND Mr. Vince EYELASHES Gill...enjoy!
Sunday Faith Blog
A man dies and goes to heaven. St. Peter meets him at the Pearly Gates and says, "Here's how it works. You need 100 points to make it into heaven. You tell me all the good things you've done and I give you a certain number of points for each item depending on how good it was. When you reach 100 points, you get in."
"Okay," the man says, "I was married to the same woman for 50 years and never cheated on her, even in my heart."
"That's wonderful," says St. Peter, "that's worth two points!"
"TWO points?" he says. "Well, I attended church all my life and supported its ministry with my tithe and service."
"Terrific!" says St. Peter..."that's certainly worth a point!"
"ONE point?!! I started a soup kitchen in my city and worked in a shelter for homeless veterans."
"Fantastic! that's good for two more points," St. Peter says.
"TWO points?!!!!!?"
Exasperated, the man cries "At this rate, the only way I'll get into heaven is by the grace of God!"
"Bingo! 100 points! Come on in!" says St. Peter.
We often try to fix problems with WD-40 and Duct tape. God did it with a nail.
Z: Thanks to our friend and commenter Fair Witness for sending the story above to me.......
"But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior." Titus 3:4-6
Have a wonderful Sunday......

Breitbart fans..unite
Breitbart's giving Conservatism the confidence it started to lose after years of the Left's media domination, attempted intimidation, historical revisionism, and downright nastiness. I believe that, like it or not, he's picking up the Limbaugh gauntlet now, in the 21st Century, and he couldn't have come at a better time.
I learned in THIS ARTICLE (the LA Times link) that he's got a book coming out in the Spring called "Righteous Indignation". How many times have I said here and in comments at other blogs that all of us on the Right keep hearing things so anathema to our values and "all we're doing is typing our fingers away in righteous indignation"?! I'm hoping the book has something to do with that....and, if I know at all what Andrew's about, I might be right.
Regarding the Shirley Sherrod situation, Breitbart's the guy who released the NAACP video where Sherrod seemingly showed quite some racism herself, though critics are now calling Andrew racist, probably the least racist guy any of us could ever meet (refer to article again, you'll be glad you did). Here's a bit from the article:
"When the full video of Sherrod's 43-minute speech was released, it showed her to have transcended racial animus and become an advocate for poor people, regardless of color."
Well...not so fast; you'll be learning more about that Sherrod/Georgia farmers situation referred to as PIGFORD from Andrew quite soon, I hope (at least the article mentions he's researching it enough now to make some irrefutable claims) that will "...upset the status quo in America," according to Andrew. See, Andrew may be showing that Mrs Sherrod and her husband just might not have QUITE been the 'advocates for poor people, regardless of color' that the LA Times glowing assessment of Sherrod suggests. Um...actually, it might be that she, at least, screwed blacks and whites alike; equal opportunity racism? Maybe that Georgia town will be called PigGATE by the time Andrew's done?
Andrew's publicly acknowledged that he should have waited to get the full NAACP video of Sherrod's speech but couldn't get them to give it to him ... and the facts are that he was only sent the edited version we all have seen.....but, let's face it; maybe this has exposed something about the USDA and Sherrod, and even this White House (whose president as senator fought hard for the Pigford suit) that we would never have known, and we should.
I have to say the LA Times article's pretty fair........I applaud them for that....even though the adjectives used about him seem to have been spun, in my opinion, to make Andrew look like the child of comfort he was in order to discount him (okay, I'm sensitive, I admit it)... If anything, to ME, all that 'swanky, Beverly Hills'' stuff speaks well for him and gives hope to liberals; You, too, could be raised as a "liberal child of privilege" who drinks "girly drinks" and come to your senses! (please see the points the article lists as Andrew's epiphanies which made him a Conservative)
All in all..a .good article. Oh, except for calling Orson Bean "a Venice (CA) actor" as if he's only acted in Venice :-)
Please read it....you'll be wanting to know more about this guy who I believe is going to continue to give us Conservatives a stronger and more RIGHTEOUSLY INDIGNANT voice.

Arpaio's telling it like it is again.............from the HOT SEAT
"The Obama administration has filed three lawsuits against Arizona in the last few weeks ... one against a college district, one against the state of Arizona and now one against my office. Each lawsuit centers on something to do with alleged racial
discrimination.
These actions make it abundantly clear that Arizona, including this Sheriff, IS Washington's new whipping boy. Now it's time to take the gloves off. As for today's lawsuit against my office: These people in Washington met with my attorneys only a few days ago. And in that meeting, Washington got our
cooperation; they admitted they already have thousands of pages of the requested documents; and they were given access to interview my staff and get into my jails. They smiled in our faces and then stabbed us in the back with this lawsuit. The Obama administration intended to sue us all along, no matter what we did to try to
avert it. Washington isn't playing fair and it's time Americans everywhere wake up and see this administration for what it really is. Calculating, underhanded at times and
certainly not looking out for the best interests of the legal citizens residing in this
country. "
MORE
STATEMENT OF ROBERT N. DRISCOLL,
COUNSEL TO SHERIFF JOSEPH ARPAIO AND THE MARICOPA
COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE
"Today's lawsuit by the Department of Justice is part of a deliberate media strategy to "get tough" on Sheriff Arpaio and the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and undermine immigration enforcement by a local Sheriff who is trying desperately to make up for this Administration's own indifference to the topic.
The DOJ suit speaks loudly by what it does not say. It does not allege that Sheriff Arpaio or the MCSO have discriminated against anyone because the DOJ, after 18 months of soliciting allegations against Sheriff Arpaio, has come up empty. Even the purported basis for the suit, which alleges a lack of "cooperation," is a sham. In fact, after meeting with the DOJ last week, just last Friday, on behalf of MCSO,
I informed the DOJ that MCSO would cooperate with all reasonable document requests and would schedule tours of MCSO facilities and interviews with senior MCSO command staff. We were awaiting a response from DOJ, and this lawsuit is apparently it. Clearly DOJ is more interested filing its third lawsuit in as manyweeks against Arizona defendants than in looking into the allegations that
purportedly gave rise to its investigation. This lawsuit is nothing more than an attempt to obscure the fact that DOJ still has no case. Today's suit over documents does not change that."
So, the Sheriff's office is perfectly willing to comply with whatever more documentation the DOJ wants and they're hit with a lawsuit instead. What do you think Sheriff Arpaio should to? And what message does this send to illegal aliens?

"The King is in the counting house..." One Party Rule...officially
Sure, the Democrats think ONE PARTY RULES is a great idea, right? They've pretty much been doing this for the last eighteen months, calling the party that's been left OUT of the room "the Party of NO", suggesting they've brought nothing to the table when they have tried, etc.. This hits a new low, though.......how dishonorable, how weak and cunning. Just think how the media'd handle this if it was Republicans.

"Don't call me 'DUDE'!" Bravo
Sometimes I think what happened in this video is what's wrong with our country. A kid mouths off to a cop who he didn't hear and didn't heed, though he could see he's being spoken to....The kid keeps calling the cop "dude"....well, I'll let you see the rest........
I can't find the information on him that I heard on TV yesterday, but from what I remember, a police commission board recommended he be relieved of duty for six days cooling off time, that's all. But, though the ending was a happy one, with the cop explaining to the kid's mother the danger the kid had put himself in and despite the kid and the cop apparently ended up shaking hands, the head of the police department has fired him and stripped him of the pension he was supposed to earn in only a few short months after his retirement. What do you think?

"Dirty Sexy Politics"?
Can you tell me why ANYBODY cares enough what MEGHAN McCAIN thinks to buy a book she supposedly wrote? I hate to be unkind, but it strikes me as ludicrous that anybody'd even publish it! It can't have ANTI PALIN REMARKS in it, COULD it? :-) (the book reviewer sure used the book as a springboard to attack Ms Palin!)
HERE is the article.......
Give me one reason you might buy her book, okay?
Thanks...Z
