This is touching, eye-opening, true and wonderful...........
If only more and more Black Americans paid attention to this Louisiana State Senator.

Paula Deen...racist?
I guess y'all know who Paula Deen is. She's just been told that the Food Network, which she's been on for ten years, will now not renew her contract because she used racial slurs in her restaurant and put up with racist jokes. We don't know if she did it once or every day, but she admits to having used the N word.
Here's the rub; I have watched her show several times when she's had Black women and Black men on cooking with her and most of them were age-old friends of hers and she treated them with not just the respect that she shows everyone on her show, but with a precious closeness and sweetness that only old friendships create.
She's apologized to the world and is upset she missed the TODAY show interview today. Or, some of you might suggest she was just too chicken to deal with Lauer, who's been a friend, along with Al Roker, for the years she's been appearing with them. Is she a racist who should have to apologize and to be dropped from a network when she's got so many dear Black friends?
I'd appreciate your remarks on what you think of this.

The American Birdfeeder
I heard a story a few years ago that sought to explain why we Americans are having such a hard time with illegal immigrants. It goes to the “magnet” I mentioned in yesterday’s post.
A kindly older woman enjoyed her backyard. Her husband was a handyman of sorts, so he constructed a nice tool shed, a beautifully appointed patio, and a beautifully built picnic table that he placed under a large oak tree. There were few things the woman enjoyed more than sitting in the backyard, or on the patio, enjoying her beautiful lawn, her flower bed, and listening to a brisk breeze rustling through the branches of her tree.
And she thought that the one thing that would give her more enjoyment would be the presence of birds. She asked her husband to build her a birdfeeder and install a birdbath so that she could watch the birds frolicking in her backyard paradise. That’s just what he did; and when the work was done, he filled the birdfeeder with seeds and started the water pump to keep the water flowing into the birdbath. At first, the lady enjoyed watching her birds; she was amazed how many different varieties of birds came to visit her.
But then things turned rather ugly. The birds began fighting with one another over the birdseed. Larger birds came to chase off the smaller birds. Aggressive birds ruined the tranquility of the backyard environment with their loud, obnoxious squawking. And as one might have anticipated, the entire backyard was covered in bird droppings: the patio, the picnic table, the birdbath, the eaves, and the roof of their small home. Once, while the old woman was hanging out her wash, a large grackle attacked her and drove her screaming inside the house.
The old woman and her husband decided that the only way to restore he backyard to its former beauty and tranquility was to remove the birdfeeder and birdbath. And that’s what they did; the birds soon disappeared and the old man started to clean up the mess the birds had created.
Not unlike the birds, illegal immigrants come here in the thousands. They crowd into areas that aren’t equipped to deal with so many “sudden” residents. They demand services, and when they don’t get them, they turn ugly. Many of our nice neighborhoods have been transformed into vast barrios; slum areas that offer nothing but danger to the people who live there—even the illegal immigrants, themselves. Local authorities ignore the problem.
Our schools have become battlegrounds for rival gangs. We send our children to such places with trepidation; all too often the worst thing happens. The authorities do nothing.
Every legal citizen is resentful of the situation: whites, blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Norwegians … and then the whole issue gets confusing. People begin to claim that anyone who stands against illegal immigrants is really prejudiced against Mexicans. How convenient it is to use ethnicity as a way of ignoring the problem.
This is where we are now with illegal immigration. It began by providing free services to people from other countries who come here illegally. Whenever we do this, we do no more than encourage even more illegal immigration. We offered amnesty to illegal aliens in 1986 —and what was the result of that?
We have to solve this problem, but it is completely illogical to think we can send out law enforcement officers to arrest 20 million illegal aliens. I think we can fix this problem by convincing them it is time to go home. We can do that by denying them “human services.” Cut off any opportunity for jobs for illegal aliens. Prohibit them from renting houses or apartments. Deny them drivers licenses. Deny them the right to attend schools they aren’t paying for. If they show up at food kitchens or hospitals seeking help, feed them, treat them, and then send them back to their country of origin. Whenever a criminal has completed his prison sentence, release them at the US/Mexican border and watch them go back to where they came from. In other words, remove the birdfeeder, remove the bath.
While we are doing this, we need to secure our borders. I don’t mean half-secured. I mean secured against illegal entry. If we will not secure our borders, then all the other efforts simply won’t matter.
And by the way, this is how we treat people who arrive illegally from China, Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Why are we treating people from Central and South America any different? Why are some of us portrayed as hateful to Hispanics when legal Hispanics often complain about the birdfeeders, too?

Kurtz at FOX......why?
BREAKING NEWS is that Howard Kurtz of CNN is moving to FOX. And he's replacing my very favorite show on FOX, News Watch, where left and right journalists cover the bias in the news.
Are they KIDDING? And FOX says "he's the most accomplished media reporter in the country."
I am a better media reporter than Howard Kurtz is, right? He's been proven to be biased on occasion and I, of course, never am (Smile). But, really.......couldn't YOU do better? Any one of you could have been a fantastic guest on his CNN show RELIABLE SOURCES and a terrific guest on FOX's News Watch, too, which is apparently going off the air.
Okay...I'm through whining now. Please read Mustang's excellent piece below and join in the terrific commentary! He's just written a great piece in answer to some of your comments today, by the way...that's up for Friday.

The Usual Business......
Most Americans contend they have had it with business as usual inside the beltway. Judging by the numbers of congressmen and senators reelected for consecutive terms, I suspect that most of these people are lying. This is just my opinion, of course, but I don’t think they’re fed up enough.

Nevertheless, there is a good reason why most (if not all) Americans should have little confidence in the Congress. Let us take the Immigration Bill (S.744) as an example. Here we have a piece of legislation that will cost the American taxpayers trillions of dollars. Congress does not want the American people to know that, so in order to hide the truth from the American voter, Congress asked the Congressional Budget Office to analyze the cost of this bill for the first ten years. The reason for this is simple: Congress moved all the costly aspects of the bill to kick in past that ten-year mark.
They did this same exact thing with the so-called Obama Care legislation. Nancy Pelosi was right to say that you have to read the bill to know what was in it, and of course, no one did. Now we learn that Obama Care is a train wreck getting ready to happen —and this from the Democrat in the Senate who helped to write the bill to begin with.
In any case, the Congressional Budget Office had performed their analysis, and as it turns out, the Gang of Eight (including Democrat Marco Rubio) have blatantly lied to the American people.
First, the bill will burden taxpayers with literally trillions of dollars in welfare and entitlement costs for newly legalized immigrants under the amnesty provision. According to economist Robert Rector, “S.744 provides only a temporary delay in eligibility to welfare and entitlements. In time, all 18.5 million immigrants will become eligible for nearly every government entitlement program, including Obama Care.”
Second, the proposed legislation will not stop illegal immigration; in fact, it will increase the attractiveness to illegal entry because for the second or third time, the US government will signal to illegals the fact there are never any consequences to breaking America’s immigration laws. The CBO has said that the best this bill will do is slow illegal immigration by 25%. This means a net gain of 7.5 illegal aliens in the next couple of decades.
Third, the proposed bill will drive down real wages in the United States. This is common sense. More people available for jobs, the less valuable these workers become.
By concealing the costs and continuing to trump the so-called humanitarian aspect of proposed immigration changes, Congress once more seeks to bamboozle the American people. No matter what Rubio and others tell conservatives, this immigration bill is another train wreck waiting to happen. It guarantees three things: amnesty, increased welfare costs, and lower wages for US workers.
If this is what you want for America’s future, then do nothing. Uncle Sugar and Auntie Nanny will take care of everything. On the other hand, if this information really does piss you off … contact your elected representatives and tell them you will not stand for it.

Hoffa..............??
Am I heartless when I wonder why the Feds are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars searching for Jimmy Hoffa's body? Is this something we ought to be spending money on?
What do you think?
I have to admit that when I was about 12 years old, I horrified my dad by telling him I thought being a gun moll must be exciting! I think I'd just seen a James Cagney film or something! But even I, who likes to hear stories about the notorious, think this is weird. Do you?

Gitmo.....why NOW?
I don't think I need to link the articles as we've all heard that Obama's suddenly (after 5 years of promises) deciding he really does want to close Gitmo down just as the 9/11 (alleged) masterminds go on trial.
Do you think that's a coincidence? Talk about it.............what is UP with that?
"_ GETTING OUT OF GUANTANAMO: Nearly 90 prisoners have been approved for either release or transfer, which in some cases will mean continued detention in their homeland or a third country. The new envoy appointed by Obama will be working with Congress and other countries to move them out of the U.S. base in Cuba."
Um. Wait. Did they have trials? And how long do you figure they'll stay in 'continued detention in their homeland or a third country?" :-)
Does the White House REALLY believe that? Or are we paying the countries to behave?
What are your thoughts?
Weird timing.......

Cool War?
So, Obama is apparently getting ready to arm the Syrian rebels. And, Putin is apparently going to send help to Assad.
Is this going to start another Cold War between Russia and America?
What do you think?
Meanwhile, is Obama going to have an "Ireland, BRING DOWN THAT WALL!" moment this coming week? :) He's going to solve the Catholic/Protestant problem, folks! I'm sure the Irish will love this. (not)He and his family then go to Germany. Kind of Reaganesque, huh? (As if he could?)

Sunday Faith Post
Happy Father's Day, Dad......you've been gone for 19 years, but you will never be gone from my heart and mind. I see you in your grandson's stance and the way he jiggles his change in his pocket when he walks, like you used to.... I see you in his brother's dark brown eyes. I see you next to Mom though you're not really there. I hear your voice somewhere in mine when I sing. I hear your wisecracks and truly terrible puns when I make my own! I think of you when I get a Double Jeopardy question (or answer) right...remember how we'd call each other? You should be here for the birth of your first two great-grandsons this month and next. I will miss you till the day I die.To my readers: Please share a special memory of your dads..
And HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to my wonderful geeeeZ friends who are dads......
To young fathers who might read this: Make sure you earn the respect of your children; you'll be doing yourself a favor but you'll be doing your children a bigger, even huge, favor.
"Discipline your son, and he will give you peace; he will bring delight to your soul." Proverbs 19:17
God bless you.

"Hand in your (pop) gun!"
PLEASE PLEASE read THIS BLOG POST today. It's Constitutional Insurgent's blog, and I would have posted on the same subject but:
A. It's in California and I'm tired of loony blog posts about the part of California that's so obviously 'fruit and nuts' because I was born and raised in California and I LOVE IT (and this is not just a state of liberals, either, I know many, many strong conservatives here).
B. I'm tired and don't feel like posting something tonight!
C. You deserve to know this is happening AND his take on it is much better than mine would have been.
Thank you!
