Cool War?

So, Obama is apparently getting ready to arm the Syrian rebels.
And, Putin is apparently going to send  help to Assad.

Is this going to start another Cold War between Russia and America?
What do you think?

Meanwhile, is Obama going to have an "Ireland, BRING DOWN THAT WALL!" moment this coming week?  :)   He's going to solve the Catholic/Protestant problem, folks!  I'm sure the Irish will love this. (not)
He and his family then go to Germany.   Kind of Reaganesque, huh?  (As if he could?)

Late Breaking News!

President Barack Obama’s approval rating dropped 8 percentage points over the last month, and for the first time in his presidency more than half of the public doesn’t feel that the president is honest and trustworthy, a new CNN/ORC International poll shows. (CNN)
The poll was conducted as the White House has been under siege over telephone and Internet surveillance, the Internal Revenue Service’s targeting of conservative groups, its handling of the terror attack on the U.S. consular post in Benghazi, Libya, and the Justice Department’s collecting journalists’ phone records as part of the government’s investigation into leaks of classified information

Saudi Arabia plans to supply the Syrian opposition with anti-aircraft missiles to counter President Bashar al-Assad's air force, German news weekly Der Spiegel reported Sunday.

The article, citing a classified report received by the German foreign intelligence service and the German government last week, said Riyadh was looking at sending European-made Mistral-class MANPADS, or man-portable air-defence systems.

Der Spiegel noted the shoulder-launched surface-to-air missiles can target low-flying aircraft including helicopters and had given mujahideen fighters in Afghanistan a decisive edge against Soviet troops in the 1980s....

Oh joy, huh?

Russia must pursue her national interests; or whatever Russia perceives those interests to be … while we, on the other hand, must simply do (and pay for) what we are told because Obama is King of America. Not to worry; this is what the American people, in their infinite wisdom, wanted.

If Arabs and Persians want to kill each other, who are WE to stand in their way?

Z said...

Thersites...good one; Except we ARE standing in their way.
WHY do we need to get involved other than, perhaps, helping with camps for those fleeing Syria? And, even then, on a small scale?

Mustang...I laugh because you put it so well and cleverly, but, really, that's about it.
I laughed aloud when I read that the WH is saying they are going to go there and tell Ireland to take the walls down. I suppose they think "if Reagan could do it.." as if they have the same standing in the world that Reagan did :-)
And, of course, Ireland really IS none of our business.

AOW...oh yes, what 'joy'...
so, by helping the opposition (muslim terror groups, from what some experts are saying), we are now at a kind of cold war with Russia AND Saudi Arabia???

Crabby..don't worry; everything will be forgotten. F&F is gone. the AP Scandal disappeared the day after Holder spoke to the media, remember? the IRS scandal will die down. Those who died in Benghazi are having their graves trampled on by the gov't.

Thersites beat me to it! But yes as long as we have our enemies fighting/killing our enemies I say "go for it"! As I've said over and over we need to concentrate on maximizing North American fossil fuel resources and let the inbred Rag Heads continue to kill each other off.

"President Barack Obama’s approval rating dropped 8 percentage points over the last month"

Yes and just wait until the Obama$#!tcare hits the fan in 2014!!!!

Spot-On, Sam! I'm also wondering about the motive(s) for his up-and-coming, expensive Africa junket, as well.

It certainly HAS that potential.

I say: keep the hell OUT of Syria.

To aid them in their quest, of course.

What fun is there in making rules for the World to follow, if we, the rule makers, can't BREAK them?

When one goes to war with another, one forfeits the right to protections formerly guaranteed within the law. One is no longer an "equal" with all others, one is "sunject" to the whims of "the other". And if one of those "whims" is to purchase bigger and better weapons from us, who are we to attempt to "regulate" and imapede them?

Somewhat off topic but if Assad has WMD (Gas)and he didn't get it from Saddam Hussein as we invaded; where did it come from?

Let me first observe that George W. Bush looked into Putin’s soul and found a good man. Several hours after Bush made that announcement, and Putin finally stopped laughing his ass off, Putin came to the somewhat accurate conclusion that American leaders are full of shit, and that he (Putin) could almost get away with anything. The west may not wish to give the man his due credit, but Vladimir Putin is far closer to Machiavelli than we think. Sell Saran gas to Bashar, who uses it against Shite terrorists, who then vow to kill all the Sunnis they can find, and you have (voila) the perfect sand storm (politically speaking, of course).

Fast-forward to today, and Russia and the United States have flipped positions. Now it is Russia who is backing a “legitimate” regime, and the United States who is arming (at our expense) terrorists who will later use those armaments against our sons and grandsons. By the way, how is the regime of Saudi Arabia not an exact duplicate of the regime of Bashar Al-Assad? So now it must be apparent to even someone educated in the United States that Obama is no bumbling idiot. His plans are working —just not to the benefit of the United States.

Syria has had a chemical WMD program since the late 1980's.

Anger is one of Fear's may ugly faces, Jack.

Just about every article we see in the blogs is sounding an ALARM about something -- or expressing tremendous aggravation and hostility.

I have come to believe this kind of thing is self-defeating.

What does it BUILD?

What does it IMPROVE?

Des it HELP anyone? If so, HOW?

CI....we need to STAY OUT. You are so right.

Everybody makes excellent sense here; why doesn't Obama?

Let's not forget that the syrian rebels (I kinow the word rebels makes libtards legs all tingly) are al queerda. The people who killed 3000 people in NYC on 9-11.

And who gives a F what happens in syria ? the latest blue cockroach versus green cockroach skirmish.

And yes, tea party people like me do care about humans, especially kids, and even more, animals caught up in these things, but what are we going to do about it?
Nothing but make it worse, let them hash it out then kill the ones left standing if you ask me.

And Russia? What a dysfunctional mess that is from just about every angle. If we didn't have a fookin idiot in the WH, I'd say let's just take them on now and get it over with.

Excuse me, please, but fighting WHAT fight?

All we do in the blogosphere is TALK TALK TALK TALK TALK TALK.

And then we indulge in petty squabbles amongst ourselves. If there's any good to be gained by that, I fail to see it.

If no one understands the wisdom and the beauty in the quotations from St. Teresa, the Bible and Shakespeare it's much too bad.

Jack misunderstood my purpose completely. Apparently others did too. I'm sorry, but TALK is no substitute for ACTION, and even less a proper surrogate for genuine THOUGHT.

Strengthening one's faith doesn't WEAKEN anyone's resolve, it BOLSTERS it while fostering SERENITY.

In other words we should husband our strength, cool our passion, and keep it FOCUSED, and ON TAP to use when it may be most needed.

I've grown to dislike TR, but I love this:

"Speak softly and carry a big stick."

What are we doing but howling like a bunch of stuck pigs and crying like babies who've had their candy snatched away by the neighborhood bully?

Did you know, Jack, that Tom Paine was an ATHEIST? He certainly made a significant contribution to our Revolution, but did not remain a hero to our Founders very long.

George Washington eventually disowned him.

Why don't you do that please. Take out an ad in the new york slimes and give your contact information along with your pledge that each penny donated will make it to some 7th century vermin POS in their name,

My GOSH. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and we get that you're not happy with the commenting world, but you're always around commenting at least as disagreeably as some others. Why?

what action are you taking? Mounting demonstrations? Writing your congressmen? keep it up! We love blogging....chacun a son gout, n'est ce-pas?

Imp, I hope you're wrong about Ireland AND Germany!! Ireland's a country I have not been to and I'd SO like to go there. The restaurant scene's apparently amazingly good, particularly since the British Isles were always known as cuisine-rubbish. They've REALLY grown up and Ireland's considered right on top of the best.
BUT, my real dream is just snuggling into a corner booth in an Irish village pub and eating village food. Mr Z and I ate at some REALLY fabulous restaurants in Europe and SE Asia, but we always preferred the neighborhood haunts of cities we'd never been to before.

Ireland. Well, in my opinion the very best food int he USA can be found only in Chicago, and if I had to pick one venue where the food might be better, it would be Irish food. I have never been to an Irish pub in the states where the food wasn't excellent and can only dream of what it's like on the emerald Isle.

@ FT

I share you view with respect to TR, but that famous saying originated in North Africa. As to howling, speak for yourself. I regard the commenters here quite civil most of the time.

Blogs are a forum for discussion. You are right to suggest that not everyone has a gift for discussion. As individuals, we all have our own point of view; there are those too, who refuse to be swayed toward any other point of view. So what? I don’t lose sleep over it, but apparently you do, and if that is true, then it is probably a good thing that you’ve decided to relinquish the role of pamphleteer. If it is no longer right for you, fine … but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t right for others. Where did you learn to be so judgmental?

I did visit your blog one time; that was enough for me. I found you insufferably impolite, and I decided that, if such was how you treat your houseguests, you must be a lonely soul.

Yes, FT …I did know that Tom Paine was an atheist. Again, so what? How is that relevant? He did not maintain the respect of the founding fathers because Paine transformed himself from a man a great intellect into a drunken sot. A fallen gentleman, he … and in spite of several efforts to save him from himself, those who once held him in great esteem gave up. There are always consequences to our behaviors, eh?

Syria is an ally of Iran, a sworn enemy of Hussein's Iraq. Remember tat little spit-spat between Iraq and Iran?
So Iraq didn't give them a damn thing.

They either made a limited amount themselves or they got some from Iran or Russia.

This chemical elements business is a bit phony. The press is talking about 100 or so killed out of 100000. Yeah, I know their only ragheads and you good Christian folk love seeing kids killed and all because they'll only become terrorists but keep a perspective.

Constitutional Insurgent said...

Ducky - "They either made a limited amount themselves or they got some from Iran or Russia."

Come on...a little light research never hurt anybody.

Syria, not a signatory to either the CWC or the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT), and not having ratified the BWC, began developing chemical weapons in 1973 prior to the Yom Kipper war when the Egyptian government reportedly gave Syria artillery shells capable of delivering chemical weapons. Since then Syria has developed a robust chemical weapons program, perhaps one of the most advanced in the Middle East, and a variety of delivery methods.

Kid said...

It's not that difficult.

- We have the muslim vermin going worldwide. They know they can't win militarily so they are going the 'breeding them out' route. Currently, they're winning that war. The church of England said about 5 years ago that England would be under sharia law in 30 years.

In the USA, immigrant families are producing kids at a rate of 5.6 kids per family versus 1.5 kids per American family. Last estimate puts Americans as a minority as of 2043 - 30 years off. May happen quicker given the state of child supporting Patriotic framework currently in America. I expect it to happen faster myself.

Game set match folks because FEW have their eye on the ball and sure as hell you'll never hear anything like this from 'the media'.
