President Barack Obama’s approval rating dropped 8 percentage points over the last month, and for the first time in his presidency more than half of the public doesn’t feel that the president is honest and trustworthy, a new CNN/ORC International poll shows. (CNN)

Saudi Arabia plans to supply the Syrian opposition with anti-aircraft missiles to counter President Bashar al-Assad's air force, German news weekly Der Spiegel reported Sunday.
The article, citing a classified report received by the German foreign intelligence service and the German government last week, said Riyadh was looking at sending European-made Mistral-class MANPADS, or man-portable air-defence systems.
Der Spiegel noted the shoulder-launched surface-to-air missiles can target low-flying aircraft including helicopters and had given mujahideen fighters in Afghanistan a decisive edge against Soviet troops in the 1980s....

Let me first observe that George W. Bush looked into Putin’s soul and found a good man. Several hours after Bush made that announcement, and Putin finally stopped laughing his ass off, Putin came to the somewhat accurate conclusion that American leaders are full of shit, and that he (Putin) could almost get away with anything. The west may not wish to give the man his due credit, but Vladimir Putin is far closer to Machiavelli than we think. Sell Saran gas to Bashar, who uses it against Shite terrorists, who then vow to kill all the Sunnis they can find, and you have (voila) the perfect sand storm (politically speaking, of course).
Fast-forward to today, and Russia and the United States have flipped positions. Now it is Russia who is backing a “legitimate” regime, and the United States who is arming (at our expense) terrorists who will later use those armaments against our sons and grandsons. By the way, how is the regime of Saudi Arabia not an exact duplicate of the regime of Bashar Al-Assad? Imp, I hope you're wrong about Ireland AND Germany!! Ireland's a country I have not been to and I'd SO like to go there. The restaurant scene's apparently amazingly good, particularly since the British Isles were always known as cuisine-rubbish. They've REALLY grown up and Ireland's considered right on top of the best.
BUT, my real dream is just snuggling into a corner booth in an Irish village pub and eating village food. Mr Z and I ate at some REALLY fabulous restaurants in Europe and SE Asia, but we always preferred the neighborhood haunts of cities we'd never been to before.
