HOW LONG DOOOO WE HAVE? cheer me up

How Long Do We Have?

About the time our original 13 states adopted their new constitution, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior: "A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.

A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.

From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship." "The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

1. From bondage to spiritual faith;

2. From spiritual faith to great courage;

3. From courage to liberty;

4. From liberty to abundance;

5. From abundance to complacency;

6. From complacency to apathy;

7. From apathy to dependence;

8. From dependence back into bondage " ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000 Presidential election:

1. Population of counties won by: Gore: 127 million; Bush: 143 million;

2. Square miles of land won by: Gore: 580,000; Bush: 2,427,000;

3. States won by: Gore: 19 Bush: 29

4. Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Gore: 13.2 Bush: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Bush won was mostly the land owned by the tax-paying citizens of this great country. Gore's territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements living off government welfare." Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency & apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some 40 percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase. Pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.

As most of you who've seen this before know, I did NOT write this....just posted it. But, I sure do think it's an eye opener.

Think our eyes WILL be open?

I was listening to some talk radio in the car....problem after problem/immorality after immorality, case after case of the most unbelievable idiocies we can imagine going on in America........Obama warning that we shouldn't "use 9/11 to scare folks" when, really, I'm thinking we might want to be a bit more scared of the 'folks' who DID 9/11 than those who're trying to prevent the next one? But, then, yesterday, he voted for the Chris Dodd bill about eavesdropping...gotta sue those phone companies! So, maybe there are politicians who do want to keep us vulnerable. "From apathy to UTTER and TOTAL stupidity!"

Well, folks......

Anybody want to get into a rambunctious discussion of how we can turn this around!?

or discuss how to spell rambunctious?!! ??

Democrats simply can't all be STUPID....there used to be really sane Dems who DID believe in fighting the bad guys instead of the guys fighting the bad guys, right?

HELP!!

The political crystal ball wizards tend to think something like 20 to 33% of "independents" will vote for McCain.

If conservatives don't punish McCain for having a "B" conservative rating instead of an "A-plus" rating, we're going to have a landslide victory over the Dem candidates that have an "F-minus" in conservatism.

McCain has an "F-minus" rating in liberalism.

Hitlery and Obamanation both have an "A-plus" rating in liberalism.

Rush Limbaugh will make money off a Democrat president.

We will not.

mr. beamish...excellent. I'm no crystal ball gaZer, but I think the same thing about Independents.

My problem is that the cartoon here is pretty accurate...Dems can be dumb. They love Liberalism.

Still, if ALL Cons, as you suggest, decide to vote for McCain and 30$ of Indies, we have a chance.

But, I'm telling you, that empty suit of Obama is beguiling to lots of people! Hitlery is dying by the day.....you can feel it, can't you? Like the Witch of the East (or West, whichever witch is the bad witch!).."I'm dyiiiiiiiiiiiiing!"

Did it ever occur to you that people are so eager to vote against Hillary Clinton that they may have "crossed the aisle" to vote against her in open primaries?

;)

Z said...

No, Mr. B. You know, I had a sense about something like that but not 'across the aisle' jumping. I figured Dems would vote against Hillary knowing she was the frontrunner and would get the nod anyway, not realize it was so close they didn't have the luxury.

The young girl on OReilly's show who always does the internet segments said she is a conservative and will vote Republican in the general, but that in VA she could vote either side. She figured McCain already had the Republican ticket wrapped up, so she used her vote to vote for Hillary because she thinks Hillary would be a galvanizing source for the Republican party to come out and vote...

Thanks, Pati....good information.

Anybody think Hillary will still win the nod? (*please, God?)

Reuters is reporting today that Hillary, who is currently here in Dayton/Columbus area, is leading Obama by 2-1 margins in Ohio AND PA...if that holds, she may hold Barak back, even if they end up splitting Texas which was not discussed in the article I read.

Pati, I think Dems MIGHT understand, even in their misled socialist-lite ether, that Obama has no experience and no real outline of how he wants this CHANGE he touts....or am I giving them too much credit? I still say Hillary would be easier to beat than Obama, even with McCain.
