"My comrade, Barack" Funny, that's how I've been viewing him lately, too!

The European press is talking about how naive Obama has been lately, particularly in his relations with Russia so far, the 'subject du jour' since Obama is there in Russia right now. One of the things they've commented on is how, in April, Medvedev referred to Obama after their first meeting as "My new comrade".

I got to thinking of "My friend Vladimir.." remember? And I wondered how much this had to do with THAT. Is it a little jab or are they just really hitting it off, ol' Dimitry and Barack? The picture's kinda CUTE, isn't it? That's from THIS visit.

Let's hope Obama's not too different on the missile shield than Bush was....because here is a sentence from the first linked article which should give us, and all of Europe, pause.. "The Russian president contrasted Obama as "totally different" to his predecessor George W. Bush, whom he blamed for the "mistake" of US missile shield plans fiercely opposed by Moscow."

And then there's THIS today....Russia and the US are going to reduce the world's two largest nuclear stockpiles by as much as a third........I don't know about you, but I'm thinking I'd be saying "I'll show you MINE if you'll show me YOURS"? Will this leave Iran with THE biggest nuclear stockpile? Or N. Korea? naaaaaaaa

Yahoo homepage headlines Sunday night said "CAUSE FOR CELEBRATION" I thought "WOW! Something to CELEBRATE these days..........what is it..?" What could it be? Guess what, LINDSAY LOHAN turned 23!

No, I'm not kidding. AND, the hotel where her party was held, the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, gave her a reported $70K (SEVENTY THOUSAND BUCKS??) to have it there!

Meanwhile..........Nero's fiddling, huh? Yahoo thinks Lindsay's birthday is a big deal while our country is....... not doing well! Check out the Greek Column in that illustration...Greek column? Oh................never mind...it just seemed reminiscent of........something.

Marriage.............Republican Style

OH, MY..... read THIS LINK...HOUSE OF PAIN: GOP's CLASS of '94 is the title....those darned Republicans in Congress just can't stay married!
Seems that it must be something in the Republican message, right? One after the other exposed here; the world's coming apart and Yahoo's headline article this morning's on Republican infidelity.

Sure would have liked to have had a list of the Democrat infidelities...their ideology must prevent that, huh? Ya, right.

I've said for a long time that bringing families TO Washington, like lawmakers used to before transportation got so easy, might help keep those families together. Might even keep OUR FAMILY together as a country, less divided, less vitriolic, if the families' children went to the same school, if the wives from both sides of the aisle met at the PTA, soccer and ballet. Maybe the families from both sides of the aisle would have cocktail parties and barbecues again like they used to. Seems like that could help prevent our representatives from dividing THEIR homes and OURS .... wouldn't they tend to be a BIT more civil to a guy from the other side if they knew they're having dinner with the wives later? Just a thought.

I snooped around and found that Red States have a slightly higher divorce rater...some say it's because more Republicans marry......others say that they have higher standards and expectations and, when the going gets rough, they're out of there. I, personally, know far more Democrats whose marriages have split, but I live in a highly Democrat area......
Think there's any correlation of politics and marriage survival? Think my suggestion that bringing families to DC might help their family...............AND OURS?

Health care.......Should you HAVE to buy it?

I don't know what to think about THIS....what do YOU THINK? FINING people for not buying affordable health care? It's a Massachusetts template....did Romney instigate/implement it? I mean, if people can AFFORD the health care and would rather go on the dole, maybe it's a good thing. If people are being forced to do anything, is that a good thing?
I'm on the fence...talk me down. Which side?

The EPA suppresses an important report....that disagreed with the government

Could the government be LYING TO US ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING? Naaaa.

But, it looks like it. Read THIS LINK. Here's a clippet from it "Carlin's report listed a number of recent developments he said the EPA did not consider, including that global temperatures have declined for 11 years; that new research predicts Atlantic hurricanes will be unaffected; that there's "little evidence" that Greenland is shedding ice at expected levels; and that solar radiation has the largest single effect on the earth's temperature."

Is it SO important to sign Kyoto and put America at such financial peril? Is it SO important to GO GREEN at any cost? WOULD THEY LIE TO PROMOTE THESE THINGS? (heh...are frogs GREEN?) Don't you think this should merit some outrage on the front page of the NY Times? Well, at least someone spoke out and told the truth at the EPA. Maybe it ain't so easy being GREEN, huh?

OH...and it ONLY GETS WORSE, comrades............read THIS!

Do you like fried fish? Yes, it's an inane post, but what the heck..?

Do you like fried fish? I LOVE IT but I don't often make it. And, at my ripe old age, I FINALLY (though I'm a pretty darned good cook) fried THE perfect fried fish tonight. Catfish. Just a tad crispy on the outside, thick beautiful white meat on the inside....salt, lemon...SO GOOD~!
NOW I need your help.......I had two filets..........Mr. Z had two filets. ONE is left and Mr. Z doesn't want it. Tell me why I shouldn't eat it, okay? "deliver me from temptation" why don't you!?
AND, whoever gives me the best reason for NOT eating that last piece is who gets the leek recipe side dish I invented tonight. How's that?
