Election Day

Every two years, we Americans get to participate in our government. Beyond sending letters to our elected representatives, which they routinely ignore, or if they respond at all, is accomplished on a form letter signed by a machine, Election Day is our one shot to steer our nation’s direction for the next two, four, or six years. In this context, the concept WE THE PEOPLE is somewhat diminished, but we do live in a republic, and not a direct democracy.

Conservatives are not happy with the direction Mr. Obama has taken this country. Conservatives are not exactly pleased with the choices presented to us during the general election, either. Our concern is that ever so steadily, through small bites largely ignored by almost everyone, this country is moving steadily to the left. I believe this is part of the grand strategy of progressive communists, who now hide themselves in the cloak of the Democratic Party. I am also convinced that over many years, the lethargy of parents and the brainwashing of our children in public schools have produced exactly the kinds of citizens the communists want …

In my opinion, there is nothing American about Barack Obama. I did not understand how a relatively unknown man could emerge to become president when he had not accomplished a single thing before November 2008. D’Souza’s film didn’t inform me as much as it confirmed what I have felt since the last election began in 2007. Barack Obama is a pox upon this nation, and “we the people” placed him in charge.

“Believe me, dear Sir: there is not in the British Empire a man who more cordially loves a union with Great Britain than I do. But by the God that made me, I will cease to exist before I yield to a connection on such terms as the British Parliament propose; and in this, I think, I speak the sentiments of America.” —Thomas Jefferson, 29 November 1775.

Mr. Jefferson’s was a noble sentiment; now 237 years later, we have returned to our beginning. Our choices are freedom, or government tyranny. We must not make the mistake of assuming that the politics of Barack Obama is simply a temporary shift to the left … it is far more than that; it is dangerous in the extreme to a free society. We know how our ancestors dealt with tyranny, but the question that confronts us today, Election Day, is how shall we respond to what our government has become? Our choices are two: either we accept progressivism (communism) on bended knee, or we resist tyranny with every fiber of our being and defend that which we hold sacred.

Do your duty, America. Do the right thing for your country.

By the way, Z would like you to know she is taking Barack Obama's advice and IS voting with revenge.

You'll get no argument from me on this. A two-party system does not necessarily mean the Democratic Party has to be one of them.

But, it doesn't mean the Republican Party has to be one of them either.

And, I wouldn't (and can't) put all the blame upon the Democratic Party. Mitt Romney's Free and Strong America PAC (aka the Tea Party "movement") has infused Congress with all manner of ineffectual pushovers and in some cases, absolute left wing twits (Michelle Bachmann, for example)

The House of Representatives is tasked by our Constitution to appropriate funds - they ARE the purse strings. Any argument about Obama's spending must look at who authorized the money to be spent, and we find the Tea Party "movement" controlled House since 2010 has enabled Obama to run up deficits higher than even Nancy Pelosi's Democrats did.

Then there's the GOP shenanigans in the primaries, breaking their own primary delegate allocation rules (re: Florida, for example) and the $2 million a day Romney, Inc. spent smearing Newt Gingrich, author of the Contract with America (1994) and Reagan's two election platforms as a "progressive socialist" - an epithet that fits Romney completely better than it would the conservative Gingrich, and I dare say the "progressive leftist" moniker fits Romney even better than it does Obama.

Obama's parents were dime a dozen hippy-dippy activists who at least had the courtesy to go inflict their whackadoo ideology on non-Americans.

Romney's parents either ran Michigan into the ground as Governor or ran for the Senate seeking to legalize abortion 3 years before Roe v. Wade. As far as leftist credentials go, Romney was on a faster track well before he unilaterally issued 189 gay marriage licenses or set up Planned Parenthood to provide taxpayer subsidized $50 co-pay abortions.

It is my estimation that a Romney victory would do far much more damage to conservatism in America over the next decade or so than four more years of Obama. I *DON'T* want to give a "mandate" to further smears of conservatism by leftists like Romney. Therefore, I am not voting for Romney. If conservatives were serious this year, Romney wouldn't be the GOP candidate. Period.

Call me crazy, but Obama's 2nd term will be the best thing conservatism could hope for. We're going to see an explosion of conservatism activism on a variety of fronts over the next four years of Obama that simply will not happen under the founding father of gay marriage and a potential second term for Romney and then Comrade Ryan takes his turn. We're looking at up to 16 more years before conservatives can forward a national agenda.

Or four.

I can wait four.

I know a lot of people who frequent this site are angry with Beamish because of his position on this election.

I'm not angry with him. I do understand what he is saying. As the saying goes, "Been there, done that."

In fact, I felt the same way about George H.W. Bush, a "one worlder" if there ever was one in the GOP. So, like many other conservatives whom I know, I voted for Ross Perot.

Go ahead. Laugh. But that's how I voted in 1992.

We got Bill Clinton for 8 years, and his administration laid part of the foundation for the economic crash that we're still suffering through right now.

Would the GOP candidates in 1992 and 1996 have done any better had they been elected? I don't know. Neither does anyone else, really.

But as a result of 1992 and 1996, I've decided never to vote for the 3rd party candidate again.

Today, I cannot vote for Barack Hussein Obama. I view him as a plague and a curse upon America. In fact, I view him as a traitor and a Trojan Horse.

How much better is Romney? A helluva lot better than Obama, IMO.

I recall the reservations that a lot of conservatives had about Reagan back in 1980. Hell, even John Wayne wouldn't endorse Reagan -- and that lack of endorsement was a surprise as Wayne was such a GOP man. I certainly didn't like everything that Reagan did, but he was a helluva lot better than Jimmy Peanut, who, until BHO, was the worst President of my lifetime.

It is my belief that Romney, if elected (I think that this will be a Romney-Ryan landslide), will govern more conservatively than we might estimate based on his political past.

And I do know this: Romney is a capitalist; Obama is all about redistributing the wealth, thereby turning America into a 3rd world country. Obama's coming EPA regulations and clamp down on First Amendment right would ruin America for a long time -- perhaps forever.

Z would like you to know she is taking Barack Obama's advice and IS voting with revenge.

In a little while, Mr. AOW and I will be in line at the polls. Yep, we are Z would like you to know she is taking Barack Obama's advice and IS voting with revenge!

With the possible exception of Samuel Adams, no one wanted to fight a war with Great Britain in 1776; some things are inevitable, however, and so I think most of our ancestors simply accepted an unhappy fact and got on with it. Nor did these stout men win the Revolution in a few short years. I think the idea began to form after the end of the French and Indian Wars, c. 1763. For many of us, I think the idea continues … because many of us believe we must always defend our founding principles and the document upon which we founded this nation.

How long did it take to resolve the one-hundred years war? Why, 100 years … of course. So it may take more than 4 more years of Obama to return us to our conservative foundations. The war continues. Beamish may be able to wait another four years; I’m not sure American can afford it, though.

I don't mean that at all!

But I believe that academia and media, as well as other elements, have successfully brainwashed so many people over the past several decades. By brainwashing, I mean, of course, brainwashed to think along the lines of Leftism. Their brains have been imprinted! Imprinted to the point that it is quite possible that nothing will undo that imprint, which has been pushed since at least the days of FDR.

If I'm correct about that a second-term Obama will do, then there will indeed be no point in trying.

I'm just in the awkward position of trying to find a way to get Obama out of the White House without putting Romney in it.

I get it. I really do.

So, Beamish, vote your conscience. It's your call. No snark there. I mean it.

At least you'll have the satisfaction that "your guy" isn't in the White House on January 21, 2013. I do know about that kind of satisfaction.

AOW - That was an interesting piece, a good read. Much of that resonates with Libertarianism, as the decline of this nation in the many aspects noted, has been a community effort. One could reasonably ask, if both parties conspired and contributed to where we currently find ourselves, why would one or either of those parties be the salvation for what ails us?

With luck, we'll get no one more left-wing than Justice Roberts of upholding national Romneycare infamy.

In the next few weeks expect massive layoffs.

Yup and you know how they will answer those? By saying businesses are evil. Then the next step will be to pass regulations and laws to prevent layoffs like in France. The statists always have to hide their incompetence.

It's pretty sad.

Z, I'm not sure it's the fault of people like Beamish. Demographics have changed. More women, more single, more urban, more hispanics, more black.

Personally I think it's over. The only way for the GOP is to become like a European right wing party that will buy into statism more or less and make promises.

So it is over at the end.

You libs are going to be sorry as hell that you got what you asked for when your taxes sky rocket next year, so lots of luck to us all. We are ALL going to need it.

Z, what happens to my e-mail? Only about a hundred anonymous spam comments a day. How do I stop them without stopping the legitimate commenters?

OK, maybe some but what of the many who, not only, don't pay taxes but do nothing but 'suck' off of those who do? I submit that we have way too many of the latter!

Darth, forgive me for not saying what I thought when I read your comment...I wish you the best with your home situation. I AM SO SORRRY!

Mark.....I think that's only the case if you're getting emails to your email inbox; I don't. Except I do NOW that I'm on my husband's laptop and forgot to have my computer expert block spam, etc...seventy-eight today when I got home from work and most were spam comments to various of my old posts!
