The PIN is BACK! Imagine that?

yaaa..JUST in time for the votes of those gun-totin', Christian nuts in West Virginie, by cracky!

Obama sporting flag pin as he campaigns in W. Virginia

(Just in time for the W Virginia primaries...WHAT a coincidence! Here's the article)

WASHINGTON — Barack Obama, who labeled discussion of whether he wears a flag pin in his lapel a false issue in a debate with Hillary Clinton, was wearing one Monday as he campaigned in West Virginia ahead of Tuesday's primary vote there.

Obama made no reference to the pin, which could be clearly seen in television images and through telephoto lenses as he spoke in Charleston, W. Va., about veterans issue. There was no public comment from his campaign.

Monday morning, pollster and former Bill Clinton adviser Douglas Schoen wrote in an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal that Obama needs to better define his values heading into the general election. “First, and obviously symbolically, he must start wearing the flag lapel pin,” Schoen wrote. “He simply cannot afford to raise doubts about his patriotism.”

Although Obama sometimes wears the pin, more often he doesn’t. And he’s long insisted on being a different kind of politician who doesn’t resort to gimmicks or give in to pressure to conform to the status quo.

The issue came to the fore during the Pennsylvania primary campaign when ABC News tracked down a voter, Nash McCabe, to ask a question during the Clinton-Obama debate April 16. McCabe noted that Obama doesn't usually wear a flag pin and asked, "I want to know if you believe in the American flag."

Z: I'd have LOVED to have heard THAT answer. And, really, wearing a flag pin doesn't show your patriotism...wearing one and then stopping wearing one while you're running for president is what gives me pause.........

The pin, like the country itself, is merely a vehicle for Obama's success.

Sorry to post this again, but it belongs HERE not on the top thread. FT

HYPOCRISY and EXPEDIENCY are part and parcel of politics. There is no such thing as CLEAN, POLITE, PRINCIPLED politics––––and there never HAS been. It is NAIVE to think otherwise.

If you read the newspapers of Washington, Jefferson, Adams and Hamilton's day, you might be shocked at how rude, coarse, untruthful and vicious things were back then. It got worse in Andrew Jackson's time. Of course Jackson was our first "common" president–––really the first true "Democrat," and he was, as you might expect, frankly a louse. The Trail of Tears ALONE proves that.

Lincoln actually threw newspapermen who opposed him in JAIL and threatened others with the same punishment. So much for the First Amendment in Lincoln's time! Lincoln is hailed as a great hero, but in truth he was a ruthless, self-appointed DICTATOR who shredded the Constitution, ignored the dictates of the Supreme Court, the wishes of the great majority of citizens, and was directly responsible for the deaths of 635,000 men. He also personally created millions of sick, maimed, crippled, mentally-ill survivors, widows, orphans and widespread poverty and degradation. And for WHAT?

Why should OBAMA be any different–––or any better–––than any other member of this scandalous profession?

I have no use for "Boosayno," he's a de facto COMMUNIST, for Heaven's sake! But, to hold HIM to a higher standard than others with similar ambitions is neither fair nor realistic.

I just finished reading Schoen's article. It was interesting. For me it wasn't that he stopped wearing the pin, it was that he felt he had to make a big statement out of it. For someone running for the top patriot in the country, symbols do matter and those wearing the American flag do so to make a statement of their love of country, not to pat themselves on the back for being patriotic. The troubling thing is that Obama doesn't get it.

EVERYTHING about Obama is "troubling," Karen. ESPECIALLY his apparent POPULARITY with "the masses."

Let's hope it's just a Media Illusion.

Ha! Well as the Reverend Wright put it he's just another politician. What a hypocrite!

Z said...

Incognito...wasn't that a telling comment? There are some who think Wright doesn't want Obama even to get CLOSE to getting elected because it would show America is NOT bigoted/racist anymore. What will Jesse Jackson DO? You have to admit, you've not seen HIM endorsing Obama, right?

What a joke.

I hope he pokes himself while putting it on and then gets a nasty staph infection...oh that was so mean of me.

Obama has to be careful about who he wears that American flag pin around.

Last time he wore it around Bill Ayers he got stomped and pissed on and set on fire.

He's wearing a pin now? After he wasn't wearing a pin? What? He prefers skiing to snowboarding? What is this country coming to! Get a life people...

When suckers and lazy cowards are consumed with anger and fear, they always turn to the nearest liar, bully, and crook. Paranoia and Megalomania are twins.

Yes, why would anyone wear one, anyway? I don't see the need. I don't. I'm as America loving as they get, too. YOu have a problem with that, Rico?

More telling when one runs for the presidency and suddenly stops wearing a flag pin he'd worn. Says a lot about his character; is he taking it off for KOS and MOVEON or NOI? WHy else? Ayers didn't like it? How CAN it be anything else.

Nobody's afraid....we're just smart and don't suck up the Koolaid like a left which knows nothing about a guy and champions him to the hilt! 2 yrs in the senate and he's going to be PRESIDENT?

MLK, Jr. is rolling in his grave. He went by character, not color. And he'd have known nobody of fine character runs for president with such little experience.

Thanks for commenting. Good to see the mentality.

Mr.Obama is turnign into quite an interesting little prig.

He is such a...whiner.

ANything said to him, around him or on the same planet he inhabits seems to get his knickers in a twist.

You know, people in WV might be ignornant of many things, but they sure as heck know a FAKE when they see one.

And that is the bottom line here, Obama is phoney, and terribly not fit to be a president or leader of anything.

Now he is trying to link McCain and Bush on that commentary saying how bad the policy is against terrorism is.

Well one thing we know ..

We have not been hit like 9-11 since the President went on offense.
THAT is fact.

Yes, I sure want to see Obama with his little flag pin , playing patriot in a room with a real patriot like John McCain, that ought to be priceless.

By the way, I think Hillary is baiting the whole situation regarding President Bush, getting Obama to have the vapors.

And so now, I am reading that Mr. Obama is warning the Tennessee GOP against being critical of his sweet wife , in their ads.

Well, I do not know the strategy for that state , but really, I am getting tired of Mr. Obama's warnings or should I use the word threats.

None the less, Mr. Obama has continued to suggest that the people in that state are some how low classed.

Is he far from just calling all white southerners white trash?

Mr. Obama is not racist is he????

He sure is a uniter.
