COMPUTER HELP please??

Since this morning, very suddenly and having done nothing myself to cause it, I'm getting "ENTER NETWORK PASSWORD" in a box on my computer screen. We've changed the password as advised and nothing's happening. Apparently, this means we have to call our provider and get it fixed...but we'll be HOURS in Pakistan on the phone!

Anybody know some quick way to get me back on email? (Those of you whom I know via email, I'm sorry...no can do) Man, I've had this before and all I did was click on OK a few times and it disappeared....I could barely type this paragraph without it popping up and interfering at least 10 times!! HELP!!!?? Thanks! xx

Sounds like you might have a virus that's attempting to access some protected portion of the network. I'd run a quick scan in safe mode just to be sure.

Yeah...scan it in safe mode to be sure. If all seems kosher, then mayhaps doing a restore to an earlier date? DSid that for my wife a couple weeks ago when hers got buggered up by wee doggie paws walking on the keyboard while we were out (don't ask)

will scan for virus, thanks, guys.

Mr. Z did try to restore to an earlier date...
He just spent 1 1/2 hrs with Earthlink on line...back and forth, and they couldn't do a thing.
The REALLY weird thing is that he can usually get into my emails through his laptop and even that's not working right now :-(

Thanks SO Much for taking the time to help.

hey Z...perhaps you could switch to your gmail account until it's squared away.

z, call me please.

Not as simple as just scanning these days, you should first install malwarebytes (malwarebytes.org), get the free version, install it, reboot into safemode (F8 while booting), Safemode is the key to virus removal.

I usually hit my computer with a hammer until it stops.

I blame the government. They're trying to shut down the conservative blogs that get reported to the Gestapo.....I fully expect to get a knock on my door at 3AM and be taken by black helicopter to the Gulags....

LOL! I've already had a visit from them. I'm so scared (NOT). Gonna take more than scare tactics to shut me up.

No, it's NOT Beamish and his hammer. :-)

It appears to be an earthlink problem. Too bad they couldn't admit that yesterday "we didn't know yesterday"..hmm

I should have email this afternoon, LA time..hopefully...just so that you who email me know.

Thanks for the update Z. We've had that problem with our webmail server too. They'll wait hours before they put up a notice that they're performing maintenance.

Hang in there.
