Last year, Mr. Z wrote a good article regarding professional sports, the Olympics, doping, etc. If you want to refresh your memory or check it out for the first time, HERE IT IS.
My friend and commenter, Waylon from Canada, brought THIS excellent (and funny) article to my attention and I wanted to bring it to yours. It seems the leftwing mentality's seeped more into the Olympics than one could have imagined it. Canadians should be ashamed of their athletic prowess?
It's a bit of reading but I think you'll enjoy both pieces.............very sporting of you to try :-)

Have you heard about the Olympic Resistance Network?
Google them....I'm sure there are some bare breasted hairy armpitted women among that group.
Mr. Z was quite a thinker. Great article.
I personally became turned off from baseball right around the time the guys started doping. I appreciated baseball players for their natural, toned bodies. No longer. They are just as over-puffed as the football players and weight lifters. Yuck.
I remember Mr Z's article, good read.
The Canadian article was funny. Doesn't this writer realize the NYT is written and edited by idiots? As far as the 16 year old girl and her charm bracelet, that's deplorable.
Is the half-pipe something you smoke?
I'm really not up to date on these hipster trash sports.
As for the charm bracelet. The dipstick writer should understand the danger that it comes loose and causes a serious injury on the ice. Maybe quite serious during a lift.
Chuck, if you're slashed with a skate blade you can bleed out pretty quickly.
Is the half-pipe something you smoke?
Heh. Ducky actually made me laugh.
Olympic snowboarding should be exempt from marijuana screenings so that the best snowboarders can compete.
Duck, do you even read these posts you comment on? The issue cited was not safety, it was promotion. If it were safety why didn't they cite this concern?
I swear you just make up your comments as you go along.
But of course the truth is irrelevant to you when you start a good rant against someone you disagree with. Did the author offend you by going after the idiocy of the left (again)?
As far as bleeding out, yes they could - if they were skating out in the middle of nowhere in the Northwest Territories. At the Olympics they have medical personnel at the rink and a modern hospital in Vancouver. While I realize you are an expert on everything, please leave the dispensing of medical information to the adults.
Taking pride in superior achievement and genuine accomplishment is healthy and natural.
Being arrogant and condescending to others when you are specially gifted is insufferable.
Affecting false modesty and being apologetic that you are smarter or better coordinated than most is even worse -- it's nauseating.
All people are NOT equal -- never have been, never will be -- to pretend otherwise is lunacy.
I'm still waiting for the Libloons to sue for the right of a 300-lb, watermelon-boobed black ballerina with a derriere the size of a football field to dance the lead in Swan Lake with the New York City Ballet.
Or dwarfs to play basketball with the Boston Celtics.
And shouldn't there be an Olympic category for one-legged cyclists, skiers and figure-skaters --- and shouldn't the Van Cliburn Piano Competition allow armless pianists to compete as well?
THAT is EXACTLY where the kind of non-logic applied by the Left inevitably leads if unchecked -- the whole world will be one gigantic INSANE ASYLUM with the craziest inmates in control, IF the Left gets its way.

"Dear Lord, where do they get these dim people — probably ferried them in on those California buses. There’s better straight reporting on The View."
Hilarious! Rex Murphy is a very witty writer snd a top-notch smart ass! Hehehehehe..
Laughter aside, the whole idea of competing in the Olympics is to win a medal. Why bother to train your entire life, to exclusion of practically everything unrelated to that endeavour, if you're not interested in being the best?
Getting back to those buses from California, can you believe the lack of horsepower? No wonder California is in a such disastrous economic mess. They're spent billions of California taxpayer dollars on substandard (read: GREEN) crap.
And Z, Mr. Z was absolutely right -- everything about the amateur sportsmanship that's supposed to epitomize the Olympics has been corrupted by money. It also demonstrates the superficial, mercenary society the entire world lives in, today. I wonder when humanity will shift back to more meaningful pursuits?
Is Tomato Head going to be on the half pipe soon? I can't miss that.
Seems like the Olympics are having quite a few problems this year. I'm not much of a fan of Winter sports. All my regular TV shows are reruns because of the Olympics.

Funny how the "free market" works, isn't it.
I'm so glad some of you read Mr. Z's piece or remembered it..thanks, it means a lot to me.
FT, if you weren't so prophetic, I'd be laughing even harder!
Ducky, GREED is everywhere, socialism, too. Actually, more in socialism because nobody will have ANYTHING..

Opus, Don't judge the 1,000's of base ball players by a few of the cheats.
Baseball has been around a long long time and steroids is kind of new to the game, hopefully it won't be around much longer..
Malcontent, what really hurts is that there were great ballplayers who EARNED their kudos and records, etc., and now we don't know WHAT's earned by the greats of today; was it steroids or their natural talent and hard work?
that's STINKS and throws a terrible pallor over all pro sports, but especially baseball, don't you think?
I feel that the minute some dufus admits to drug use, his record should be erased...
