Red Lipstick

Do men really hate red lipstick?   I'm doing a survey because I wear it from time to time!   So guys, is it true, like THIS ARTICLE says? :-)
And, ladies, do you ever wear it?

I personally don't like it, but I think it must look good on the Duckie.

I occasionally wear red lipstick -- primarily to match certain outfits and with formal wear.

Mr. AOW doesn't like me to wear red lipstick with day wear.

The Mrs. has never worn any make up.

Beamish, depends on the brand !

Louis....All ducks DO have those big bills :-)

AOW, Mr Z liked me better with brighter colors like reds than the more natural colors I wear! And I always thought I got more 'looks' when I wore red lipstick...I think it lifts us up, colorwise.

Elbro, makeup is FUN! Don't have to wear too much...but Mrs Elbro is pretty without it, that I know!

Beamish, by the way, you might try pink, maybe it would taste and look better (smile!)

Didn't I read someplace that women really don't dress for men, they dress for other women?

Jumpsuits,Hhhmmmmm I remember Emma Peel lookin' pretty good in one! ;-)

Having been involved in the tech side of cosmetics, and being familiar with the ingredients, I wouldn't wear the stuff. (Then again, I'm a guy)

BB, you make it sound like it's poison!

Scotty, you read the whole article...thanks! I agree, she did look good! And yes, I think we do dress for women, but THAT'S NUTS :-)

I've always wanted to wear red lipstick, and tried SO many times to find the right shade....I've settled on red nail polish.

I have a photo of my dear grandmother (at about30) wearing red lipstick with her black hair put up, and she looks AMAZING.

Depends on who wears it, the clothing, the hair, etc...

If it's Ducky for example, it's a turn off.

LOL, Z.

Black is more my color, but it makes me look like I've been eating motor oil.

Jen, I have very dark hair, too, so I think that's what Mr Z liked...that dark hair, red lipstick.
But you're right, there are reds and there are reds...if it has too much blue in it, I absolutely can't wear it.

Beamish...it's too expensive to eat now

FB...well, you've seen ME...maybe I'll wear it to your house in 2 weeks...!

LOL!

I've only worn black lipstick once, as part of a Hallowe'en costume. Back when I had hair once year I went as an uber-goth Robert Smith from the Cure.

My girlfriend at the time went as Siouxie from Siouxie and the Banshees...

All I can remember of that night is "What's this black crap on my beer bottle?! Oh yeah..."

I've worn red lipstick over the years. It depends on the outfit and the occasion.

We've been told for years that women dress for other women, but I don't know about the accuracy of that statement. When I was young and single, I never bothered to dress up for a party if there weren't going to be any available single guys.

A woman with dark hair, red lips and red matching shoes will make my day anytime!

Nothing more attractive to me.

Whatever, so long as you don't look like a common streetwalker.

Well,z, the alternative is the Fox newsbabe look ... ooops, same thing.

Ducky, you know FOX can't have news without cleavage!
Thank God they're smart, too.
Go back to Candy Crowley...she's way more Boston.

I never wear bright red lipstick. I wear a coral color which is close enough but less bright. A transparent red is ok too. Only if I'm wearing a red outfit.

Mostly I like different shades of pink depending on what I'm wearing.

I don't dress for other women I wear what satisfies me, and I care about Mr. Pris liking how I look.

If you weren't a purveyor and a customer, you'd never know that.

Ditto. Wonderful to see beautiful women with brains. Has anyone looked carefully at the libs "feminine representatives?"

Madcow...posing as a 12 year old boy should give you a hint....but there's so many more ugliness in the NOW crowd that sows are more attractive.

It has to match the outfit. Otherwise it screams 'stripper'.

Odd that so many people made reference to red lipstick indicating a connection to prostitution.
When I see red lips I think of beautiful women from the 1940's, of my grandmother's generation. They didn't have much, so a new tube of lipstick was a luxury, and it made them feel glamorous and feminine.

I'll leave it at that...

Jen,
it takes quite a sexist mind to equate red lipstick with streetwalkers when so many gorgeous decent women wear red lipstick.
You also make a great point about the women who wore it in the forties, etc....silk stockings and a tube of lipstick gave them a lift in very tough times.

I'm glad red is back! Actually, I don't think it's ever really gone away as a trend.

By the way, the best red I know is Borghese ..BASSANO SUNSET #48 !!

It takes a sexually frustrated man like Ducky to equate red lipstick and Fox news anchors with prostitutes.

The guy has some real issues with his penis.

Or his self esteem about his masculinity is so low that he thinks low of women.

The self loathing issue would make total sense with his leftism and hatred of the individual.
