Mistakes?

I'm hearing how the amounts of records the NSA has been getting has been waaaay over the amount they're supposed to, or that they've admitted previously that they have......they call it "mistakes".

The Fast and Furious situation involved "mistakes"

The IRS situation is said, by some, to have been "mistakes"

The Benghazi deaths might, indeed, have been caused by "mistakes".

When do "mistakes" matter?  When do hearings actually happen which can figure out, first, if each case really was just a 'mistake'........ and/or figure out how to avoid future mistakes; or maybe even  punish some who behaved so badly that government-sized, liberty-threatening "mistakes" were made.

How do you view these incidents and the fact that all they're referred to as "mistakes" these days in this administration and our media?
I don't remember this word being used as much in previous administrations.  It's such a benign word, so easily used as a cover to something really horrid.  I wonder about the fact that things are referred to as "mistakes" and life goes on.  I remember when Obama misspoke several times during his elections and even during his tenure now;  when there was an outcry to his words, he'd say he'd been "inartful."    They were usually pretty awful things and I thought that was odd then, and odd particularly  because it seemed to be an automatic pass for him; but now we're up to using the term "mistakes."

When mistakes are made at my office, like a kid's transcripts might not make it to the intended college, that's serious and needs to be addressed.  And it is.  How can truly monumental "mistakes" be made on the national level and it gets glossed over by a press secretary (and the leftwinger media) and that's that?

Doesn't anybody CARE?

Obama made a BIG mistake in the Zimmerman -Martin case. As a politician, let alone the POTUS, he should not put his 2 cents into any case. His administration looks even dumber for saying they are looking into this case to possibly file federal civil rights charges. The FBI has already interviewed dozens of people that know Zimmerman and they couldn't find a hint of past racism. They just won't admit it b/c they don't want to tell the NAACP they are race baiting morons. And I agree with Moder8. The idea that the president should weigh in on investigations is wrong.

A. The President should not comment on ongoing investigations
B. The President should not get involved in state criminal matters
C. The President used his popularity to increase support for Martin
D. The President added to the racial aspect of a story that wasn't about race.
Shall I go on? I can, but if I do, this post may get deleted... So I better stop here..

You ask, Does anybody care?
Yes, I care!
More proof that America is more racist since Obama became president...People are showing their true colors now. Just look at what Oprah has been up tp lately, and look at her latest movie “The Butler” what a disgusting disgrace that piece of filth is. And what the Directed said in Typical/predictable Liberal Fashion, about the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman case! “I think that people are angry that he's president, and I think that they're showing their true colors. "Any black man could be killed by any white man and get away with it,"

Leftist,Liberal, and Progressive said...

I am saddened by what followed after the verdict in the murder of Trayvon Martin, was give,
Zimmerman was told by the 911 dispatcher not to follow the hooded Trayvon; he did anyway. Not a crime but a bad choice indeed. Zimmerman had a gun and Trayvon did not. Zimmerman says it was self defense because this 17-year-old kid was beating the crap out of him. Trayvon has not spoken from the grave to say otherwise. Trayvon is dead because Zimmerman was not guilty, period.

The Not Guilty verdict is the result of a trial where a incompetent prosecutor who over-charged Zimmerman, but the verdict is not racially motivated as many now claim.
Zimmerman was NOT guilty of murder and should nave never been charged with murder.

And for NBC deliberately and maliciously editing the 911 recording adding to the already shoddy police work, it likely would have never been about race. Zimmerman, perhaps over zealous, was doing his job as a neighborhood watchman based on the 911 recording. Shame on the usual race baiters. The media, Al Sharpton and the whole lot of them be shamed.
Trayvon, a 6'2" 175 pound black man could have JOGGED and outrun chubby, short George Zimmerman, but he chose to double back, hide in the bushes and attack him instead.

• Trayvon didn't NEED to sucker punch Zimmerman and break his nose saying "You're gonna die tonight mother***er!".

• Trayvon also didn't NEED to then get on top of Zimmerman pummeling him with punches and slamming his head into the concrete while Zimmerman screamed for help that wasn't coming.

• If it were me on the ground, I would have shot him too! If you're honest, so would you.

• No, Trayvon didn't NEED to die that night. But he brought it on himself with foolish thug bravado and attacking an armed man.
What was racial was how black leaders, including the president and his cronie or should I say phoney “black leaders”, responded to the tragedy essentially forcing the prosecution Zimmerman..
To have brought this man (Zimmerman) to trial was a big Mistake, in my opinion.

Paula Deen made a “MISTAKE” and apologized for it, and yet she will never be let off the hook for it.
Apparently the New Black Panther Movement doesn’t recognize the word “Mistake”
Black people do not own the N-word; either everybody can say it, or nobody can say it. And why? Is the administration saying I don't have the capability do something that black people can do? I'm insulted..
Rap music is vastly more misogynistic, racist, hateful, and violent than Paula Deen.
There is no doubt that black people can have prejudice, be hateful, and discriminate — but in their eyes, they cannot be racist..
Blacks should get on with their lives they've been awarded plenty, and should always remember that no one alive today ever sold slaves, and that this mistake was corrected ten fold in the US.
She owned up to her MISTAKE and apologized. That's more than a lot of people would do. It's over. Let this good lady get on with her life and her business.

Paula Deen would be welcome in my home any time, and any day. It seems to me that the only ones who are perfect are the libtard media and the politically correct. At least she is honest - which is more than I can say for journalists and politicians.

My vote for the biggest Mistake in the news today is Obama’s backing the Muslim Brotherhood.
The media is full of crap about Obama not having a foreign policy, and especially regarding Egypt. His foreign policy is to back the Muslim Brotherhood.
The hell he doesn’t, he has a very clear, strong and determined foreign policy, which is to aid and abet the Islamist takeover of the Middle East and Europe any way he can. Everything he does clearly shows this, but as long as our controlled media keeps telling us otherwise, we’ll keep sucking up the bullshit.
Obama helped put Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood into office by demanding Mubarak step aside. An ally for decades was thrown to the wolves so Obama et al could have their "Arab Spring".

He backs the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood and he and the other idiots in Washington are backing the Syrian rebels who are affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood and the Taliban and al Qaeda
If Obama had a son he'd look like Mohammed Morsi .

@Top Cat:

"Zimmerman was told by the 911 dispatcher not to follow the hooded Trayvon; he did anyway. Not a crime but a bad choice indeed..."

I'm so very, very tired of correcting this particular piece of misinformation.

First: A 911 dispatcher is a CIVILIAN. Not a sworn Police Officer ( although I think many of them are "wanna be cops" too...just like they denigrated Zimmerman with? ). Their sole function is being a phone call operator who passes information on to the Police.

The Sanford dispatcher testified in open court at the trial...that he CANNOTorder anyone to do anything. He testified that it's due to the legal liability involved. For example: if a 911 operator
"orders" you to "stand your ground" and you do... and you're killed by taking his advice when you could have or should have retreated. So you die and the family has a huge lawsuit against the city or PD.

Secondly: Zimmerman complied...it's on the tape...,listen to it. When he was asked again where TM was...he said he was running. The dispatcher than asked him...where? So you tell me how Zimmerman could have fulfilled that request without getting out of his truck and making visual contact with TM again?

The one who made a Bad choice was TM. He was 70' away from the residence he was staying at under a de facto house arrest. Zimmerman had every right in the state of Florida to have a gun. He had no criminal record and he had a legal permit. Just as 2 million other Floridians do.

TM had a passion for MMA style fighting. And there's plenty of evidence in his phone messaging, tweets and FB posts that he was engaged in that before. When told by a friend that he was a ( something I forgot ) he answered..."No..I'm a gangsta".

The remainder of your post is accurate.

There appears to be this view, which I believe is closely related to political correctness, that even in the face of grievous crimes against persons and property, all one needs to do is apologize for their despicable behavior and all is right again in the world. Additionally, it appears that if someone apologizes and can also prove that they were abused as children, why then … they can even run for the presidency even if they were born in Kenya.

To err is human … but I do not view as sincere this idea that if people say, “I’m sorry” that such a statement repairs any damage. The worst purveyor of such tripe is the news media, who just this morning remarked that Bradley Manning did show remorse by apologizing, so …

We should care about accurate reporting above all.

1. IRS "scandal" -- Never mind that the scrutiny of left wing groups applying for the same tax exempt status has been documented. The right will insist it is a "scandal" not to allow any political campaign organization tax exempt status. Given what was done to A.C.O.R.N. I am curious why they think the fringe right has been uniquely targeted.

2. F&F --- Bad actors have been tracked and arrested as a result of this program. Has the whole issue been exaggerated? Yes.
Do we have any way to evaluate the effectiveness? Not in the current hysteria.

3. Benghazi -- The right needed a talking point. Embassy attacks happen and they are not unusually frequent under Obama.
The CIA was running some kind of operation that nobody wants exposed. This is something new?

4. The coming police state --- Now we should probably all be rallying around this one rather than the other distractions.
Bradley Manning exposes activity that he's required to report under law and now he's doing 35 and that foul stench Cheney is still walking around.
This one is the real outrage. We've given up so much because there is so much profit keeping you all frightened of the scary Muslims.

Just for you Duck from Camille Paglia:

Any hopes, fears or predictions for the presidential elections in 2016?

As a registered Democrat, I am praying for a credible presidential candidate to emerge from the younger tier of politicians in their late 40s.

A governor with executive experience would be ideal. It’s time to put my baby-boom generation out to pasture! We’ve had our day and managed to muck up a hell of a lot.

It remains baffling how anyone would think that Hillary Clinton (born the same year as me) is our party’s best chance.

She has more sooty baggage than a 90-car freight train. And what exactly has she ever accomplished — beyond bullishly covering for her philandering husband? She’s certainly busy, busy and ever on the move — with the tunnel-vision workaholism of someone trying to blot out uncomfortable private thoughts.

I for one think it was a very big deal that our ambassador was murdered in Benghazi. In saying “I take responsibility” for it as secretary of state, Hillary should have resigned immediately.

The weak response by the Obama administration to that tragedy has given a huge opening to Republicans in the next presidential election.

The impression has been amply given that Benghazi was treated as a public relations matter to massage rather than as the major and outrageous attack on the U.S. that it was.

Throughout history, ambassadors have always been symbolic incarnations of the sovereignty of their nations and the dignity of their leaders. It’s even a key motif in “King Lear.”

As far as I’m concerned, Hillary disqualified herself for the presidency in that fist-pounding moment at a congressional hearing when she said, “What difference does it make what we knew and when we knew it, Senator?”

Democrats have got to shake off the Clinton albatross and find new blood. The escalating instability not just in Egypt but throughout the Mideast is very ominous. There is a clash of cultures brewing in the world that may take a century or more to resolve — and there is no guarantee that the secular West will win.
