A few weeks ago, scientists were startled by the sudden appearance of a rock on the surface of Mars that looked amazingly like a jelly donut. The object was about 4 cm wide, red-centered, and very delicious looking. This set off a flurry of speculation about whether there are cops on Mars, and try as they might, Mars rover operators could not find further evidence of any animated movements.
Well, now the mystery is solved. “Once we moved Opportunity a short distance, after inspecting Pinnacle Island, we could see directly uphill an overturned mineral that has the same unusual appearance,” said Ray Arvidson of Washington University. “We drove over it, we can see evidence of the track, but now we have this gelatinous material clogging up the tracks of the Mars explorer.”
No, he didn’t really say that. But the Mars explorer did return another photograph that has scientists scratching their heads … Any ideas about this one?

Mmmmmmm... dooonuts! This cracked me up Mustang. and made me hungry at the same time. As for the unidentified structure, I think we can all agree that whatever it is, it is acting stupidly.
They found a Dunko's on Mars?
So, the Mars Rover is really in Cuba. Does Castro know?
... now that's funny.
From Z of GEEEZ:
Mustang, this is very funny!
But it got me hungry :-(
Jim....Castro knows EVERYTHING :=-)
Viburnum, what's this have to do with K in Idlewild? :)

AM SO GLAD I'M IN SUCH GOOD HANDS!
That's why I haven't been around much.
not that anybody's noticed ;-)
Speaking of the surface of Mars
... ... he can multitask and while he's pushing on with the Keystone pipeline he'll see that as much water as desired is diverted regardless of the long term consequences.
And we will still hear the right screaming that giving food stamps to the needy is what will destroy us.
Big train in the tunnel.
"Viburnum, what's this have to do with K in Idlewild? :)"
"Any ideas about this one?"
It was the best I could think of at 4AM, having fixed on the photo of Car 54. Where were you? ;-)
Vib, I think you and I are the only ones to get the Car 54 Where are You reference.
Wasn't there some woman used to run this blog?
Anybody remember her?
She seemed pretty sweet/smart.
I wonder what happened to her.
@Duck:
"he'll see that as much water as desired is diverted regardless of the long term consequences..."
OK...explain that further if you care to?
@Ed
I don't know about that. I think the others are just keeping mum to avoid dating themselves. ;-)
"Wasn't there some woman used to run this blog?"
Yes. Where, indeed, has our lady of the west coast gone?
@Bob:
I think she already explained her absence, Bob.
From Z of GEEEZ:
ED! Thank you for NOTICING :-) (except you forgot VERY good looking!) HAAAAAAA!
But, seriously; my computer's on its way to a new hard drive, I think....and so I can only email/blog from work! Am leaving for home now and will miss everybody. I feel SO cut off with no computer at home :-(
Again, at least ONE Of you notice I haven't been around! (smile)

Have fun...and thank MUSTANG for keeping GeeeZ going for all my GeeeeZers! (that's a soft G, not hard)!!

@Z:
"GeeeeZers!"... ???
I guess if we know about Car 54, we are all geezers, huh?
"I guess if we know about Car 54, we are all geezers, huh?"
Not unless you logged many landings at Idlewild.

Well, you'll have the side that goes on about insane conservationists who are going to restrict agriculture to save the delta smelt.
In fact, the decline of the smelt population indicated problems in the water supply and the population has since increased considerably.
So the question is the future viability of the water supply and the wisdom of endangering it for a short term gain.
President "All Talk, No Walk" will go for the short term gain.
@Ducky:
How about the decline on the human population for a smelt? The entire Imperial Valley is a desert, with lives ruined, farming decimated from one of the most luscious and productive places on the planet. 50 years ago the waters for the growth of LA and much of California in general were a miracle of technology.
Now they have a severe drought...which could have been avoided if the water was left alone. The reservoirs had enough to last out a 5 year shortage.
Do you know how many "endangered" species die out each day on this planet? As they have been doing for millions of years?
It's the height of hubris and ignorance to think that we can prevent any of that. Just who the hell are we but another species, that will die out too.
It's bureaucratic insanity run amok. Where the hell do these idiots think their food comes from anyway...Whole Foods?
Again, it's not a matter of the smelt per se. That's an indicator.
The decline in the population was an indication of over pumping degrading the water supply.
Hilarious.
Z, I prefer a hard G, not a soft one. Fwiw.
Do You Feel Like A Threat To The Planet Today?
From Z:
Ducky, you need to learn about the California Central Valley.
OVERPUMPING?
The water is GONE because it might kill a fish that thrives in the Pacific Northwest.
Population is declining because PEOPLE HAVE NO WORK. Got to save that little fish.
I remember at one televised protest by farmers and farmworkers losing their livings, one councilman said "I don't know why, but the San Francisco Council's been trying to dry up the valley for years...and now we've got THIS and it's working."
I hope you all realize just how MUCH food comes out of the California Central Valley and why this affects us ALL.
Imp; SOFT G, not hard :-)
