Ahoy! The Obama Cruise is sailing...........

This is an excellent comparison.  Imp sent it to me via email.  Make sure you read it all;  it really is good.  Send it to your friends!

The U.S. Government has just passed a new law called:
"The Affordable
Boat Act" declaring that every citizen MUST purchase a new boat, by
April 2014
. These "affordable" boats will cost an average of
$54,000-$155,000 each. This does not include taxes, trailers, towing
fees, licensing and registration fees, fuel, docking and storage fees,
maintenance or repair costs.

This law has been passed, because until now, typically only wealthy
and financially responsible people have been able to purchase boats.
This new law ensures that every American can now have a "affordable"
boat of their own, because everyone is "entitled" to a new boat.
If
you purchase your boat before the end of the year, you will receive 4
"free" life jackets; not including monthly usage fees.

In order to make sure everyone purchases an affordable boat, the
costs
of owning a boat will increase on average of 250-400% per year
. This
way, wealthy people will pay more for something that other people
don't want or can't afford to maintain
. But to be fair, people who
can't afford to maintain their boat will be regularly fined and
children (under the age of 26) can use their parents boats to party on
until they turn 27; then they must purchase their own boat.

If you already have a boat, you can keep yours (just kidding; no you
can't). If you don't want or don't need a boat, you are required to
buy one anyhow. If you refuse to buy one or can't afford one, you will
be regularly fined $800 until you purchase one or face imprisonment.

Failure to use the boat will also result in fines. People living in
the desert; ghettos; inner cities or areas with no access to lakes are
not exempt. Age, motion sickness, experience, knowledge nor lack of
desire are not acceptable excuses for not using your boat.

A government review board (that doesn't know the difference between
the port, starboard or stern of a boat) will decide everything
,
including; when, where, how often and for what purposes you can use
your boat along with how many people can ride in your boat and
determine if one is too old or healthy enough to be able to use their
boat. They will also decide if your boat has out lived its usefulness
or if you must purchase specific accessories, (like a $500 compass) or
a newer and more expensive boat.

Those that can afford yachts will be required to do so...it’s only
fair. The government will also decide the name for each boat. Failure
to comply with these rules will result in fines and possible
imprisonment.

Government officials are exempt from this new law. If they want a
boat, they and their families can obtain boats free, at the expense of
tax payers. Unions, bankers and mega companies with large political
affiliations ($$$) are also exempt
.

If the government can force you to buy health care, they can force you
to buy a boat ... or ANYTHING else .

Z: this whole thing makes you SEA SICK, huh? :-)

Its mindboggling how almost every American hates and distrusts the government, regardless of the party in power, yet there is still such a large group that wants this entity that have no trust in, to control the most important aspects of life: healthcare, retirement, education. The government has proven since George Washington himself first violated our civil liberties to be completely incompetent and ill-designed for tampering with such important things yet people still sit and tap their feet, waiting for this completely incompetent collection of minds to provide for them.

I was going to post something in this regard on my own blog but wouldn't be able to stand the aggravation.

Z - This is good. It makes you see the insurance thing a little clearer. And it makes it seem a little ridiculous.

I think it’s true. For example, the government forced me to purchase several extended vacations for the first family over the past several years. I didn’t mind that so much; it was paying for prostitutes for the secret service that tended to piss me off. Well, that and having to pay for a backup plane, transportation of a limousine, and spring break for middle schoolers. Mind you, all of this is still cheaper than owning a boat.

Sam Huntington said...

Don’t worry everyone. Nan Pelosi recently said she has a fix for the Obama Care problem. I guess it’s time to stock up on Vaseline. I think she’s calling it National Health Care.

Unknown said...

Anticipate this: Obama will say that people who wish to keep their current insurance plans can do so. Problem: keeping current plans will result in a 60% increase in premiums due to the fact that insurance companies are going to attempt to offset their costs due to Obama Care regulations. The next shoe to drop will be Obama saying, “Well, I did tell you that Obama Care would be cheaper.” Obama thus shifts the decision on to the shoulders of the insured, rather than the Kremlin. We live in amazing times.

Z said...

Oh, Robert......you are onto something there. Yes, it will be more expensive (let's see if Obama addresses COST this morning..he won't)...
So, it'll be easy to say YOU CAN KEEP IT........oh, except..$$$$

Sue..it IS ridiculous. We've been trying to tell America for four years.

Sam....she and Dick Durbin are in overdrive asking why Republicans don't think we shouldn't ALL pay for maternity and everything else.."to pay the high costs"

Why don't they ADDRESS the high costs of health care before they screw with our insurance?

JonBerg said...

This has all been made possible by allowing the inmates to run the asylum! I just saw Pelosi on TV; now, more than ever, she's ready for the "Rubber Room"! Not one Republican voted for Obamacare and all registered Republicans should be allowed exemption from that NIGHTMARE! We need to make some major changes and SOON! Screw the Democrats. If they wish to self-destruct so be it but they shouldn't be able to take us with them!

JonBerg said...

HEY,HEY,HEY Guess what? B.O. just unilaterally decreed that insurance carriers writing health policies which were cancelled may now rewrite or reinstate such for (drum roll) ONE YEAR!!! Good luck to individual policy holders with that. B.O., on the other hand, creates the illusion that he cares which, of course he doesn't. He appears to have set-up insurance carriers for blame if they won't "back track" on their underwriting and I suspect many won't. By this time, anyone who can't see through the Fraud-in-Chief is severely perceptually handicapped!

The president’s announcement (and his response to questions) tell us two important things. First, the president’s proposed administrative fix is completely impractical, suggesting that Mr. Obama is out of his depth in understanding simple frameworks. Six states have already changed their laws to conform to ACA rules and regulations. For the citizens of these states, there is no “going back.” For everyone else, state insurance commissioners, who have largely completed their regulatory and oversight work for 2014, will now have to reopen the files and take another look at what can even be done, given that insurance companies have already begun to implement new state rules. The second thing we learned is that Obama has only attempted to give himself (and all the other communists who passed ACA without any idea what was in it) some cover in the next election. The underlying truth to this is that Obama is a fraud, and the progressive movement has destroyed liberalism—which is a shame, I think.

Ed Bonderenka said...

@Mustang: "Mind you, all of this is still cheaper than owning a boat."
Amen, brother. Amen.

skudrunner said...

You can park your boat next to your cash for clunker car.

Keep in mind that obamacare is doing exactly what obama wanted. Providing free insurance for those who can't or won't buy it and sending the bill to the taxpayer to crush the middle class.

As madam botox said, you have to pass it to know what is in it. Now they know and they are running for cover. Unfortunately the media will provide it.

Bob said...

Mustang says, " The underlying truth to this is that Obama is a fraud, and the progressive movement has destroyed liberalism—which is a shame, I think."

Once again, much wisdom from Mustang. However, it ain't over 'til it's over.

A thinking American should become concerned whenever government, especially at the federal level, tells us that we must behave the way they want us to because it is for our own good. I have never been one of those who think that government is my parent, or even that I am an errant child. I instead think that government obeys my will, not the other way around. Someone said today that Obama Care is a disaster 100 times worse than Prohibition. No one ever died of cancer because the government refused to allow us to produce, transport, serve, or consume alcoholic beverages.

I am looking forward to a time when Nancy Pelosi is abducted by aliens. I would be interested in reading their toxicology report.

Unfortunately, fully half or more of our fellow reprobates think exactly the opposite! 99% of "minorities" and recipients of AA ( child care ) and special treatment for the last 50 years. On top of that you'll have to add about 99.99% of illegals. Why else would they come here after completely ruining their home countries?

All our neighbors to the south...have completely messed up for the last 100 years. And now are prepared to do the same here with their overwhelming numbers that will make the US see a one party rule. And that spells big trouble for the stability ofd the US in the long run.

No different than all the new "immigrants" from CA that have left and invaded Colorado...to the point where half of the state wants to separate from the other half to prevent the state from falling into ruin.

Well there ya go, that didn’t take long, the head of the national health insurance trade group just released a statement saying it’s too late to go back because rates are already set for next year, and those rates are predicated on millions and millions of people paying the new rates.

If they were to go back, everybody that has ACA compliant plans will have to have higher new rates to cover those that are keeping their old policy.

What a complete cluster flock. And you can bet that millions of kiddies are going to think they just got a year reprieve from getting coverage at all!

Ya gotta love it.

Stop lying.

I do know from friends who were dropped it was because it didn't meet the basic requirements. This means they didn't cover much, including hospitalization. Many also had very high deductibles. You want people to continue to have to sell their houses? Some didn't even cover certain diseases!

We as taxpayers would continue to pick up the tab and premiums would continue to rise at out of control rates. Isn't this what we're trying to avoid?

Insurance companies are still working to try to rip us off. They're telling some people with junk plans if they don't respond they will automatically put them on a better plan which costs hundreds more.

But it they shopped the exchanges, they'd find it much cheaper. Thousands have.

Yes, Obama should have been clearer about this but - somehow, I knew about it! I've been advising friends and family members for months.

Let’s analyze what you said, Liberal turd. Your friends were dropped against their will because the health plan they chose did not meet the basic requirement of Barack Obama. Do I understand this correctly?

So even though the health plan that was cancelled did not meet the basic requirements, such as maternity care for 60 year old clients, and since the government decided that 60-year old clients should have to pay for a service they didn’t need, then screw them … they should have to do what Barack Obama decided anyway? Do I understand your argument correctly?

And the plan they selected had a high deductible?

And the plan they selected didn’t cover certain diseases?

And you think that the cost of Obama care won’t increase? Are you a high school graduate?

But all of this is okay because we’ll take money from you to pay for my health insurance coverage … is that okay with you?

Relatively speaking, it isn't even a speck of dust on the butt of michele obama when it comes to the evil, incompetence and destruction this HC bill will inflict upon America.

And yes, two of us at work, over the last 3 years (as it happens) wrote/created an intra-company website used by outside salesman to enter quote, orders, lookup any piece of information about their customers, vendors, items, customer order history, etc etc etc etc etc etc and if we were doing it asa private enterprise, we'd have charged about 10 mil IF we were greedy SOBs. And this website has at least 100 times more functionality and options than does obama's POS website written by michele's invompetent thieving company CGI.

There are two forces in government currently. Each is dealing with the internal contradictions of capitalism in a different fashion.

1. The Republicans are willing to let capitalism collapse and the public, or as the Tea Party calls them, the marks, be damned. Just let it fail. Galt's Gulch will rescue you fools.

2. The Democrats are willing to try to keep Kapital alive and avoid its implosion. They do a middling job but in addition to being on the correct side in the culture war they are a better short term alternative.

None of them has a good grasp on post Keynesianism but there are plenty of students of Joan Robertson to guide them but they'd rather listen to idiots like Larry Summers than Joseph Stiglitz.

Just wanted to say that I've yet to see anyone with such a warped and demonstrably false view of economics and capitalism as Ducky. Its pretty much nonsensical and patently false to think the government is more equipped than the private sector to handle a health care system, when literally everywhere else the government has taken over has been a complete disaster: social security, education, agriculture, energy, you name it. Once the government touched it, it went to crap and that's not even debatable. A single payer system only puts healthcare in the hands of an entity that has proven its untrustworthy, ill equipped, and inefficient. So while Ducky puts "faith" in his world view, I'll just look at his world view's results, and so far they get an "F".
