Obama; A children's book............God help us.

Great reading for the children of America.  (Z: you simply won't believe this):
MUSKEGON, Mich. – On the heels of a controversial children’s book about Barack Obama – which stated “white voters would never vote for a black president” and that “Barack’s former pastor” said “God would damn the United States for mistreating its black citizens” – comes a new lesson that casts America’s 44th president in a messianic light. Literally.  Here's an excerpt from the book!!!

(Z: OH...so the drugs and smoking weren't HIS fault...it's "what it means to be black?"  ARE YOU KIDDING ME???)

And – surprise – it’s Common Core-aligned.
The lesson plan and accompanying visual presentation were authored by Sherece Bennett, and is for sale onTeachersPayTeachers.com. It’s all based on a book titled, “Barack Obama: Son of Promise, Child of Hope,” by Nikki Grimes.
In one passage, a young Obama sees beggars and wonders, “Will I ever be able to help people like these?”
“Hope hung deep inside of him,” the book adds.
Another excerpt from the book reads: “Before dawn each morning, Barry rose – his mother’s voice driving him from dream land. ‘Time for learning English grammar and the Golden Rule. Be honest, be kind, be fair,’ she taught him.”
The story continues: “One morning, he slipped on the name he’d been born with. The name of his father, Barack. For the first time in his life, he wore it proudly – like a coat of many colors.”
Uh oh – another Obama-inspired Biblical reference in a government school! But there’s no controversy here. Leftists will use God and the Bible, in instances such as these, when it appropriately fits their propaganda purposes.
No story about Barack Obama would be complete without mentioning his work as a community organizer. The book describes those days in dramatic fashion:
“The work was grueling, with stretches of failure, and puny patches of success. Door-to-door Barack went, early mornings, late nights, pleading and preaching, coaxing strangers to march together, to make life better for everyone.
“He worked as hard as a farmer, planting the words ‘Yes, we can!’ like seeds in spring.
“Impatient, Barack kept wondering if those seeds would ever sprout. He worried that the hope in him would fade away.”
This mythical interpretation of Obama was the #1 New York Times bestselling picture-book biography of Obama, according to Amazon.com.
Bennett’s lesson calls for students as young as third grade to read Grimes’ book and do a number of activities, including making a collage of Obama:
“Have students bring in magazines and photos of President Obama. Have students create a collage about Barack Obama based on the information from the text. The collage should represent pictures and words about Barack Obama.”
Grimes’ book and Bennett’s lesson plan are more fitting for an authoritarian regime in which children are taught to deify and praise their dear leader. One can almost envision teachers in Cuba, Venezuela and Iran using similar books and lessons.
Thankfully, that’s not the American way, which makes these learning materials completely unsuitable for our classrooms.
Still, given the large number of activist teachers in the U.S., there’s a very real possibility this is the version of Barack Obama’s history many of our young students are learning in a school near you. (end of article)

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?   WHAT ARE PEOPLE THINKING?  THIS IS AMERICA?

I don't think that any reasonable person would approve of this book. Therein lies the problem.

I do not favor deifying any President, living or dead. Nor do I favor demonizing any President, living or dead.

The context of the mention of Obama's drug use in that particular book for such young students. Furthermore, the very title of the book is disturbing.

Parents, pay attention to what you children are assigned to read in school! Lots of times, the reading is done in class, and the reading materials never come home for parents to see.

Obama’s Children's Book is all about Obama’s claims that white people 'would never vote for a Black President'

It should really be about people SHOULD NEVER vote for a socialist President!
Funny isn’t it but Obama wouldn't have won without white voters.
I did not vote for Obama because I knew that he was and still is a socialist, and wanted to fundamentally transform this nation into a socialist nation. Nothing good has ever emerged from socialism, it only leaves millions of deaths, and economic destruction in its wake. How could I vote for someone who hung around with people like Bill Ayers, and Jeremiah Wright! No one has benefitted more from capitalism more than poor people. Their quality of life is a million times better than it used to be. Just compare the "poor" in the US to the rest of the world and you have to come to the conclusion that our system is better for poor people. How much more do you Bleeding Heart Liberals want us to do for these people, most of them ar lazy slobs anyway who just take, take and take! So let’s just take more from the “SO CALLED” rich” and give our hard EARNED money to the lazy bums that don’t want jobs, and are mostly the law breakers, criminals, and the ILLEGAL’S!
Oh yes, SOCIALISM IS REALLY SUCCESSFUL! Want income equality, move to Russia, or better yet, China, or Cuba!!

Capitalism has done more good for the poor than any other system in History! The quality of your life totally depends on you. So go make your OWN prosperity and quit wanting other to do it for you..that's what is dooming this country and our Freedoms.
The Liberal Loons want everything to be fair, and equal - they will destroy America, the land of OPPORTUNITY!
Look out for yourself. Govern yourself. Stop relying on the Government to provide everything for you!
If you look up "ass clown" in the dictionary, you will see a picture of Obama along with a complete description of him and all the other dumb assed Democrats. Barack Obama's Presidency has been a complete failure

The Little Black Boy, by William Blake

MY mother bore me in the southern wild,
And I am black, but O, my soul is white!
White as an angel is the English child,
But I am black, as if bereaved of light.

My mother taught me underneath a tree,
And, sitting down before the heat of day,
She took me on her lap and kissèd me,
And, pointing to the East, began to say:

'Look at the rising sun: there God does live,
And gives His light, and gives His heat away,
And flowers and trees and beasts and men receive
Comfort in morning, joy in the noonday.

'And we are put on earth a little space,
That we may learn to bear the beams of love;
And these black bodies and this sunburnt face
Are but a cloud, and like a shady grove.

'For when our souls have learn'd the heat to bear,
The cloud will vanish, we shall hear His voice,
Saying, "Come out from the grove, my love and care,
And round my golden tent like lambs rejoice."'

Thus did my mother say, and kissèd me,
And thus I say to little English boy.
When I from black and he from white cloud free,
And round the tent of God like lambs we joy,

I'll shade him from the heat till he can bear
To lean in joy upon our Father's knee;
And then I'll stand and stroke his silver hair,
And be like him, and he will then love me.

So if I understand this argument, Barry had to learn how to become black because … he was raised as a poor white boy. Oh, I don’t know … but it seems to me as if there are a few pieces missing here —much like Obama’s entire history, which naturally includes his place of birth. In fairness, though, there are a few pieces missing from Obama’s brains too, but that is probably the result of too much crack cocaine during the odyssey phase of his life.

However, I do think that a children’s book about Barack Hussein Obama is only the tip of the iceberg of things to come. I think all of us will be overjoyed with a federal holiday in his honor, a boulevard named in his honor in every city in America (because MLK got one), an aircraft carrier named after him (because Jimmah Catah got one), and a collection of myths that will challenge Homer’s Iliad.

Alas, there is nothing we can do about any of this. It is our unhappy fate; our deadly destiny has killed us.

AOW, I hated demonizing Obama for a couple of years; I couldn't call a sitting pres 'liar', etc...but I'm done with that.
He deserves so much of what he's getting it grieves me, honestly.
And I wish more parents paid attention.

Mustang; Yes, we'll be "obama'd" to death.

I love the terminology the WH is using now to get out of some of the criticism...Carney's now saying they don't CARE about politics, they're doing what's RIGHT FOR THE PEOPLE.

America’s mythological era began about 20 years ago. Since then, if our messiah of the moment has something less than a pristine background, we begin spinning a web of interesting deceits. I remember people yammering about that World War II hero Bush the Elder, shot down in the Pacific. The fact is, Bush was a lousy pilot and getting shot down was no mark of heroism. The Navy should have made him pay for the plane. He, in turn, raised a cokehead whose only claim to fame was that he was better than Gore or Kerry. It forces me to imagine that if Ronald McDonald ever had aspirations to become president of these United States, he missed the opportunity of a lifetime.

Now this. A continuing stream of mythology … like the argument Ducky made defending the Tsarnaev brothers, who he claimed were pushed to radicalism by the anti-Islam right wing. Of course, no such thing exists in Massachusetts, so …

Beyond the notion that kids in Louisiana walk away with less education after 12 years than kids living in Wisconsin, it is hard to imagine why anyone on the right would support common core … but you are correct, there is a coalition of reformers who think that we should seriously consider Finland’s education model. Amazing, isn’t it? But all these reformers are doing is what educational reformers have always done: mouth platitudes. We must be a nation of idiots, because the solution is pig simple and has nothing to do with national standards in education. Begin with this: any teacher that cannot “ace” the same PISA examination administered to students shouldn’t be teaching students.

Beyond this, the best argument in opposition to common core is the fact that there are morons in this country with teaching degrees who would argue that this mythological book about Obama will in some way enhance any student’s productivity over the next 70 years. We seem to be getting dumber by the second in this country. I applaud you for homeschooling your children.

Mustang - My wife can go on.....and on...about the mathmatic procedures outlined in CC. I can't, because I'm atrocious at math.....but she is more fervent than I am, against CC.

Being HSLDA members, we see the legislation constantly popping up, by Democrat politicians, to try and crush the homeschool movement. They use the fringe religious example because it plays well among the sheep, to paint all of us as radical, anti-social fundamentalists. We are anti-social...don't get me wrong, but they don't even acknowledge the fact that many of us homeschool because when we've had our children in public school, they have actually regressed in their academic progression.

Sadly, we are forced to shoulder the burden for our kids education, yet still pay taxes that fund public schools...all without the slightest tax credit for giving the district money for our children that isn't spent on them.

I was a product of grade school that valued 'self esteem' above curriculum, so this current paradigm isn't new...it's just become more entrenched. This Obama book, and the many other examples of egregious teaching practices is going to sink this nation along with the economic torpedoes we've already endured.

That's not al we don't know...think about these things:

WHERE ARE THE OBAMA GIRLFRIENDS?

I hadn't thought about this - but where are Obama's past girlfriends?
Surely he had at least one? No past girl friends popping up anywhere?
Strange - strange to the point of being downright weird!
OK, this is just plain old common sense, no political agendas for
either side. Just common knowledge for citizens of a country, especially American citizens, who know every little tidbit about
every other president (and their wives) that even know that
Andrew Jackson's wife smoked a corn cob pipe and was accused
of adultery, or that Lincoln never went to school or Kennedy
wore a back brace, or Truman played the piano.
We are Americans! Our media vets these things out! We
are known for our humanitarian interests and caring for our
'fellow man.'We care, but none of us know one single
humanizing fact about the history of our own president.
Honestly, and this is a personal thing ... but it's bugged me
for years that no one who ever dated him ever showed up.
Taken his charisma, which caused the women to be drawn
to him so obviously during his campaign, looks like some
lady would not have missed the opportunity.

Impertinent said...

We all know about JFK's magnetism, McCain was no monk,
Palin's courtship and even her athletic prowess were probed.
Biden's aneurisms are no secret. Look at Cheney and Clinton -
we all know about their heart problems. How could I have
left out Wild Bill before or during the White House?
Nope ... not one lady has stepped up and said, "He was soooo
shy," or "What a great dancer!" Now look at the rest of what
we know ...no classmates, not even the recorder for the
Columbia class notes, ever heard of him.

Who was the best man at his wedding?Start there. Check
for groomsmen. Then get the footage of the graduation ceremony.
Has anyone talked to the professors? Isn't it odd that no one is
bragging that they knew him or taught him or lived with him.
When did he meet Michele and how? Are there photos?
Every president provides the public with all their photos,
etc. for their library. What has he released? Nothing - other
than what was in this so-called biography! And experts
who study writing styles etc. claim it was not O's own
words or typical of his speech patterns, etc.

Does this make any of you wonder?
Ever wonder why no one ever came forward from Obama's
past, saying they knew him, attended school with him, was
his friend, etc.? Not one person has ever come forward from his past.
This should really be a cause for great concern. Did you see
the movie titled, The Manchurian Candidate?
Let's face it. As insignificant as we all are ... someone whom
we went to school with remembers our name or face ... someone
remembers we were the clown or the dork or the brain or the
quiet one or the bully or something about us.

George Stephanopoulos, ABC News said the same thing
during the 2008 campaign.Even George questions why
no one has acknowledged that the president was in their
classroom or ate in the same cafeteria or made impromptu
speeches on campus.Stephanopoulos was a classmate of
Obama at Columbia-class of 1984. He says he never had
a single class with him.

Impertinent said...

Since he is such a great orator, why doesn't anyone in Obama's
college class remember him? And,why won't he allow Columbia
to release his records? Do you like millions of others, simply assume
all this is explainable - even though no one can?

NOBODY REMEMBERS OBAMA AT COLUMBIA
Looking for evidence of Obama's past, Fox News contacted
400 Columbia University students from the period when
Obama claims to have been there, but not one remembers
him. For example, Wayne Allyn Root was (like Obama) a
political science major at Columbia , who graduated in 1983.
In 2008, Root says of Obama,"I don't know a single person
at Columbia that knew him, and they all know me. I don't
have a single classmate who ever knew Barack Obama at
Columbia .. EVER!"

Nobody recalls him.
Root adds that he was, "Class of '83 political science,
pre-law" and says, "You don't get more exact or closer
than that.. Never met him in my life, don't know anyone
who ever met him." At our 20th class reunion five years ago,
who was asked to be the speaker of the class? Me. No one
ever heard of Barack! And five years ago, nobody even knew
who he was. The guy who writes the class notes, who's kind of
the, as we say in New York , 'the macha' who knows
everybody, has yet to find a person, a human who ever
met him."
Obama's photograph does not appear in the school's
yearbook, and Obama consistently declines requests
to talk about his years at Columbia , provide school
records, or provide the name of any former classmates
or friends while at Columbia ...How can this be?
NOTE: Wayne Allyn Root can easily be verified. He
graduated valedictorian from his high school, Thornton-
Donovan School , then graduated from Columbia University
in 1983 as a Political Science major in the same '83 class
in which Barack Hussein Obama states he was.

Some other interesting questions.
Why was Obama's law license inactivated in 2002?
Why was Michelle's law license inactivated by court order?
According to the U.S. Census, there is only one Barack
Obama - but 27 Social Security numbers and over 80 aliases..
WHAT!?
The Social Security number he uses now originated in Connecticut where he is never reported to have lived. No wonder all his records are sealed!
Please continue sending this out to everyone. Somewhere, someone had to know him in school... before he "reorganized" Chicago and burst upon the scene at the 2004 Democratic Convention and made us swoon with his charm, poise, andspeaking pizzazz.

Yeah, but t ain't a majority opinion.
Now I'd be all for a book that pointed out that we elected the black guy and he turned out to be a corporate pimp just like everyone else for the last 40 years.

As always the emphasis is on the continuum of crappy political leadership. I dislike the fawning over this conservative as much as I dislike the fawning over the useless Reagan.

This guy is nothing unusual and his clique is no worse than others.
American's gave up on intelligent political leadership long before Obama hit the scene.

I really question that someone who in her own words doesn't know or care about the TPP and its serious threat to national sovereignty is in a position to give someone the tone for not really being concerned about a trivial book.

Anonymous said...

From Z:

Ducky, so you literally don't understand the point. I'm amazed.

Let's do it again: No president deserves adulation of our children no matter WHO he is.
No black people I know deserve to have stereotypes suggesting blacks do drugs because they have problems.

And, I'm not sure what TPP is...if you mean TEA PARTY, I do care, as much as the Conservatives and Democrats who belong to it and, believe me, the threat to national sovereignty is a term I never thought you'd suddenly champion. You are learning something here!

And, by the way, you should know by now that majority opinion isn't what's important here; If I wanted majority opinion, an echo chamber at geeeZ, I'd be on comment moderation as so many liberal blogs are....fearful to have to discuss real subjects with people who disagree with them.

I don't mean to sound as sarcastic as I do, but you set the tone and it truly is amazing that you find nothing unusual about this book. THATis the point I've been trying to make but you seem to keep missing it...the UNIQUE, horrid message this gives our children is not just another book about a president.

Not sure there is a children's book about Reagan; at least they'd have learned about good values and strong love of country, but alas.

It is a snow day in Atlanta, and our tradition is to shut the town down and stay home. The problem is that they let the kids go to school, and the snow and ice started claiming the roads between noon and one o'clock in the afternoon.

Now, we have thousands of kids stuck at their schools, the parents can't get to the schools, and the school buses are all stuck in ice bound traffic. The roads are becoming impassable.

It is a real circus. Thank God we are retired, and don't have to fight the traffic. The last time this happened was in January, 1982. That was in the big storm when the Air Florida flight crashed into the Potomac. I was stuck in Philadelphia, and the Atlanta airport was closed for more than a day.

When I finally got back from Philadelphia two days after the storm hit, I had to drive through hundreds of cars abandoned on the streets and freeways. Fortunately, my wife had called in sick, and missed all the fun of having been stuck at her school in South Atlanta for an extra day or so.

Right now, my daughter is stuck at the local elementary school where she teaches. As long as there are kids at the school, the teachers cannot leave.

Bob said...

Z said, "how the heck does a guy who never wrote a review become editor of the LAW REVIEW at Harvard?"

Z: Obama was not the EDITOR of the Harvard Law Review. His title was PRESIDENT of the Harvard Law Review. There's a difference. Harvard changed the rules for that position, and made it a popularity position that was voted on by students and faculty. They changed the rules specifically to allow minorities a chance to edit the review, and Obama was the first one to gain that distinction.

He couldn't get there on the strength of his academics, even though he was supposedly to be super smart ( doubtful). He had to have the political help from Harvard changing the rules.

So, remember that Obama was NOT the Editor of the law review. He was elected PRESIDENT,and it was a popularity contest.

Bob, thanks for the information.
