The other day, I heard someone on television suggest we all give ourselves a prescription every day of something we'd love to do, or see, or be a part of, etc. I thought it was a great idea....as is the suggestion above. For the new year, let's try to concentrate on things like this..........
I'm going to!

I listened to an interview on BillBennett yezterdsy wit Hugh Hewitt about his book "the happiest life" about what makes tgem happy.
Typically being lest self centered, more giving.
Happy would be a better phone keyboard.
Z - That's a good idea. Everyone should be someone that makes you happy. Be someone that makes everyone happy. Be happy and make others happy. That's what we need more of.
sue hanes: Let's all just get along. I will hold my breath until that happens. What part of your happiness will you give up so that I can have more of mine?
Questions like that make me happy.
Ed, I heard a bit of the Hewitt book on the radio yesterday; I think he was on Medved...making the tour.
It was clear that Reagan and Bush were happier people in general. Interesting stats.
Sue; not sure about everyone being someone that makes us happy, but we need more nice people, that's for sure. And we need to hang with them, not crazy makers, even at my blog, right!?
Joe, Socialist Happiness? :-)
Joe, did you get my email, by the way?
I will remain in “mourning” for America so long as Obama’s unworthy ass sits in the Oval Office.
Anon; that's exactly why I'm posting these more upbeat posts...we need to be good to ourselves and others, keeping our humor and our energy up particularly now when we have that constant drumbeat of lies and unconstitutionalities and deficits, etc..

Someone just sent me this video; I think it behooves us all to remember beauty still does exist; good friends are still there for us; we have roofs over our heads and enough to eat...there's music, art.....good books.
We need a break from politics and what we're seeing happening every day.........look for the good stuff; it helps.
"Don't let the little people get you down."
That one little sentence has served me well.
I think I was the originator of this one, but possibly not. I believe I came up with it after navigating some arcane bureaucratic structure, like, the drivers license department.
When I need to readjust my thinking to get happier thoughts, I think of A. Mitchell Palmer.
The New York Slimes Said in their editorial yesterday:
When someone reveals that government officials have routinely and deliberately broken the law, that person should not face life in prison at the hands of the same government.
Now that Snowden has been proven right in almost every single claim he has made and a judge has ruled NSA programs illegal and uncostitutional now the New York Times has stood up for him.
Has the New York Times gone crazy in their defense of Snowden?
First of all why didn’t Snowden go through “proper channels” to blow the whistle if he was such a “Good Guy”?
Secondly, why did he run off to America’s Foes to release classified information?
Snowden will go down in history as one of America's most consequential whistleblowers, alongside Daniel Ellsberg and Bradley Manning. He is responsible for handing over material from one of the world's most secretive organizations – the NSA.
If I was on the jury, he would be found guilty and he would be hung.
Be someone that makes you happy--
LOVE IT--
C-CS
Bob...you're a wise man :-)
Sam...I had to Google that guy and read about him and still can't get a grip on what he was about...kind of an interesting fellow...
Why did you mention him here?
Anonymous; i'm pretty sure going through proper channels isn't what most whistle blowers do; that's the point, they can't get listened to.
Also, I am not 100% against what he did and I think of how horribly intrusive the NSA is and that he was right about that. Should whistle blowers only blow whistles when it agrees with their ideology?
It's a very confusing case; I know he blew terrible secrets, but how big do we let spy organizations GET?
I just reach for the Budwiser!
JonBerg..>ANOTHER wise man :-)
Love this sentiment. Our culture grasps for so many 'things' to be happy. Things are nice to have, but icing on the cake for the happy and grateful at heart. So my thought is to daily cultivate gratitude. Streams of gratitude feed into a river of happiness.
@Joe --- Let's all just get along. I will hold my breath until that happens. What part of your happiness will you give up so that I can have more of mine?

Finding satisfaction and joy is not a zero sum game.
If you want more you probably don't know how to find it in the first place.
Ducky...you missed Joe's allusion to socialism...."you give me yours.."
tsk tsk tsk
No, z, socialists believe we get ours.
Or we can follow Joe and make the system a zero sum game.
Believe as you will.
Ducky! Oops! OH!!! So you Socialists believe in YOU getting YOURS. Very enlightening. Aha. And here I thought you had all the 'big hearts'! :-)
Well...terrific, but you missed Joe's allusion again.
tsk tsk tsk
I didn't miss the allusion.
I pointed out that it's a cliche drawn from ignorance.
Ducky - "No, z, socialists believe we get ours."
You 'get' yours by way of us. Maggie Thatchers quote is quite relevant here.
This is good news....
In fact I have a renewed sense of Optimism regarding the future of the United States.
I read that young voters are turning against Obama and the notion of Big Government.
The survey, part of a unique 13-year study of the attitudes of young adults, finds that America's rising generation is worried about its future, disillusioned with the U.S. political system, strongly opposed to the government's domestic surveillance apparatus, and drifting away from both major parties. "Young Americans hold the president, Congress and the federal government in less esteem almost by the day, and the level of engagement they are having in politics are also on the decline," reads the IOP's analysis of its poll. "Millennials are losing touch with government and its programs because they believe government is losing touch with them."
The results blow a gaping hole in the belief among many Democrats that Obama's two elections signaled a durable grip on the youth vote.
Indeed, millennials are not so hot on their president.
Obama's approval rating among young Americans is just 41 percent, down 11 points from a year ago, and now tracking with all adults. While 55 percent said they voted for Obama in 2012, only 46 percent said they would do so again.
When asked if they would want to recall various elected officials, 45 percent of millennials said they would oust their member of Congress; 52 percent replied "all members of Congress" should go; and 47 percent said they would recall Obama. The recall-Obama figure was even higher among the youngest millennials, ages 18 to 24, at 52 percent.
Good News...I certainly hope so. I don't much believe those things, but it could be!
CI..thanks.
Ducky.....we get it. You're a socialist so that you can 'get yours'...gotcha
I'll just keep reading what 'Good News!' said... and pray that it's true!
Oh duck. You're showing yourself aren't you. Wanting something from someone else. Depending perhaps.
Let me tell you, I have never asked for or accepted a dime from anyone. And I've had good reason to ask for one a good part of my time here on this rock.
See, duck, yours is a weakness.
When you depend on strangers money, you go without when the economic cycle turns and oBAMa isn't in the white house. And he won't be there forever. Nothing is forever ya know. Then you don't have, and you don't know how to get - because you're dependent. Being a dependent loser is no way to go through life son. I can't imagine how you didn't learn that from Dean Wormer.. You never saw Animal House? One of the top 3 movies of all time.
Oh well. It's comin baby. It's comin.
@kid --- You never saw Animal House? One of the top 3 movies of all time.
-----
Frat house humor is what challenges you. Why didn't I know.
Top 3:
1. Seven Samurai
2. Celine and Julie Go Boating
3. Breathless
Duck, nothing YOU can imagine challenges me. :)
Your top 3 ? Dude, you don't have any hugh grant movies in there, are you just toying with me or are you really 5 years old.
I'm happy to just be here. But I'm happiest when I'm with my grandson. Just behind that is when I'm working out at the gym.
Now, what can I do to help with your happiness?
Rational: Thankfully, I'm very happy without you, thanks! :-)
But, thanks for asking.
And I can imagine your fun with your grandson; I have new great nephews and would take a bullet for either of them!
@ RN USA -- You really don't want to know, and the NSA already does know, the answer to that question.
Yeah, NSA, the ears of Big Brother. Oh well, shall carry on as if they don't exist.
Z... Your welcome! We are on the same page. :-)
Yep, there's I wouldn't do to protect my grandson, granddaughter, niece, and nephew.
"Joe, did you get my email, by the way?"
Yes. Thank you. I understand completely.
I'm very happy without RN's help as well.
Thanks, but NO thanks.
I see we're on the same page as well Rotty.
The "give me yours mentality" surely does describe the committed socialist/communist mentality.
Factoid: the likes of Lenin and Trotsky became wealthy men (millionaires back in the day). How did they accumulate such personal wealth? Not the old fashioned way through productively working and earning it. They committed mass robbery while depriving millions of others of their lives and property.
Seems to be a common trait of the socialistically inclined, no?
Waylon -- Lenin and Trotsky and, today, Dear Leader Obamohammad. Which reminds me... have we returned from our multimillion U.S. citizens' tax dollars Hawaii (NOT Christmas) vacation?
Joe, thanks. It makes me sad, but.... :-)
(and it's kinda fun to batter, you know!?)
HAS Obama returned YET? Good question, Marine4
Just GOogled..today's apparently Obama's last vacation day.
The WHite House site has a picture of him at the desk on AirForceOne...a Maitai, taro chips and other stuff to eat on the desk.
And wearing a lei. In contrast to Clinton who would have been....oh, never mind.:-)
Aww, Z... ! Here come those mental pictures again! Scheech.
