There has never been another little actress quite like Temple; may she rest in peace knowing how much joy she still brings to children.
I think that in the process of becoming "sophisticated" a great deal of our entertainment ha become very mean spirited.
I agree with Ducky. I don’t have his expertise in filmography, but I know what I find entertaining, and what I find objectionable. Rather than being commentaries on society or human behavior, most films today are mindlessly violent and sexual. The phrase “no redeeming value” comes to mind, and therefore, no cultural value. But of course, films today do make a lot of money. What a shame. I suspect that some future generation will be reviewing the filth that Hollywood produces today and conclude that we deserved our demise.

Ducky, I agree. But you're always slamming American fills for their lack of Asian or European sophistication so it was nice to hear this opinion about Shirley Temple, frankly.
Z - She was such a talented and sweet little girl. And she grew up to have a good life and contributed to the world by becoming an ambassador.

Hard to believe such a sweet little girl could grow up to be a Republican.
Or that her daughter could be a drummer in a grunge band. :)

GRUNGE BAND? Her daughter must be 65!
Her daughter Lori was born in 54 (a year younger than I) and was a bassist, not a drummer in a band called The Melvins.
