Is AL GORE going to the CHINA OLYMPICS with a gas mask on? DARE HE?

PLEASE SEE THE EXCELLENT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION MR. Z JUST PROVIDED IN "COMMENTS" I THINK IT'S WORTHWHILE READING........if you know Al Gore, could you .....?

WHY isn't Gore slamming the CHINESE for their horrible environment? "A World Bank study found China is home to 16 of the 20 worst cities for air quality. Three-quarters of the water flowing through urban areas is unsuitable for drinking or fishing."

China's practically closing China DOWN in preparation for the Olympics, hoping that, in 3 weeks, they'll have 'crystalline' air!? Read the link and then remember that there are Americans who blame US for polluting the world.

Why don't we hear about this, this, this? Now do yourself a favor and read THIS ONE from the "RepublicanandProud" blog.... WHAT an article! Here's an excerpt: "So, coming back to the outrageous statement made by Barack Obama, why should Americans lower their living standards while the rest of the world pollutes at will? Why should Americans suffer as members of the United Nations jet around the world and ride in limousines around New York City, tut-tutting about how Americans are ruining the planet?"
WHEN will the Left GET IT? NO Conservative wants a polluted world! Conservatives are trying not to sign the Kyoto Agreement because it'll be AMERICA paying to FIX THE WORLD (enter Obama...sound about right?...is FIX THE WORLD actually part of his offical platform? I think so!). Conservatives just want REASON, we want to do what we can without killing our country in the doing, we want the side which says humans aren't entirely culpable for global climate change to be heard.

Here is just one more worthwhile read...from which comes this: "... the climatic effects of the Kyoto Protocol would be negligible, leading them (the authors of the report) to state “Thus, the Kyoto Protocol is a good example of how to achieve the minimum results with the maximum efforts (and sacrifices). Impact of available human controls will be negligible in comparison with the global forces of nature. Thus, the attempts to alter the occurring global climatic changes (and drastic measures prescribed by the Kyoto Protocol) have to be abandoned as meaningless and harmful.” Seems fair to me that scientists with this viewpoint should at least be involved in legitimate and open discussion? But, they're not, they weren't invited to the latest meeting in Bali, remember?

CHINA. Are some of us more on THEIR side than OURS? OH, and AL? If you're going to the Olympics, remember how much nicer it is HERE, okay?

I would want to wear a gas mask, myself, if I knew I were to be within spitting distance of Al Gore.

What a foul-smelling gasbag he is!

If crepitation had a face, it would look like Al Gore.

PHEW!

Politicians love to beat US up, but dare not cross China.

They know how bad it will be if we piss off the Chicoms and they call in all of our debt.

With a combination of Obama and Gore, I'd say we'd be pretty much toast! And Gore doesn't have to be VP for that to happen.

Pray for John McCain folks. Pray.

This article raises important points. I'd like to add on some issues at different levels.

The first level is indeed the Kyoto protocol, which, as everybody knows, claims to be THE solution to the "CO2 by humans" issue. First of all, more and more people (including me) are of the opinion that global warming is primarily not caused by humans (pollution), and, therefore we are shooting ourselves in the foot. The self-inflicted foot-shooting is even more the case considering, as Z's article rightfully states, the biggest polluters in this world are China and India, and they certainly don't want to enter the Kyoto agreement.

The second level is pollution, which has, without considering the potential negative effect on climate change, a very negative effect on our very existence. If the essential elements for our survival, air and water, contain toxic substances, that accelerates our demise. That is an issue worth focusing on - we, in the industrialized Nations, have done a lot, but more needs to be done (consider that the toxic substances which go into the ground, will end up in the water table from which we get our ground water in 50 years or so). That is where China and India are really bad - they are in a state of industrial development as we were 100 years ago: building no facilities without consideration about how to dispose of the toxic waste from those facilities. The pictures of rivers and landfills in China are horrifying, and as Z said, the air pollution in the cities has become so bad that NOW the Chinese have introduced the driving at even or odd days.

Now the third level also has to do with China and India: China and India have such an enormous industrial growth that they buy an increasing amount of energy. They are the major reason why energy prices are going up. Result: We MUST become independent from outside sources. Therefore, all practical sources available to the U.S. must be tapped into. That starts with drilling for more oil, continues with nuclear power, and all the possibilities of renewable energy which can find and which make economic sense.

So, here is my advice for the American people (and Mr. Gore) re: priorities:
1. Stop whining about global warming - there is nothing we can do.
2. Increase the use of indigenous resources in the U.S. - we can be completely independent.
3. Enforce lower energy consumption in a REASONABLE way (start with turning off the illumination in skyscrapers during the night).
4. Concentrate on global pollution - and tap onto the fingers of those who pollute the most.

Don't forget, China was excluded from the sham Kyoto protocol Al Gore tried to sell us. As far as him being happy to be back in the US, I don't think this is possible for a liberal.

China is not America and is therefore innocent. Sad to say, that is how many politicians think around the world.

Boy, Chuck and Shoprat (and thanks for stopping by), you are both so right. I'd forgotten China was excluded from Kyoto and isn't it awful to imagine an America where so many people have been taught WE are the bad guys?

Some poster at frontpagemag.com recently said "Well, if WE have nukes, why SHOULDN'T N. Korea?" THIS is the thinking of American students today. Can we survive it??

I think I have the answer to your question, "Why."

"WHY isn't Gore slamming the CHINESE for their horrible environment?"

Another question is, why isn't the global left slamming China for this?

"WHEN will the Left GET IT?"

They get it Z, they know fully well that it'll only be western idiots who'll be shooting themselves in the foot trying to save the planet.

They hate the living standards that capitalism has brought to the masses in western countries. And this global warming crap is the easiest way to wind all of that back.

Mr. Z is spot on but, I should like to add, we need massive emphasis on #2.

I knew the answer even before I scrolled down.

Idiotic utopian leftist -- that's what Gore is.

If we didn't topple Saddam Hussein, global warming would have never happened.

Now we live in a world where it's getting harder and harder for people to afford the gas they need to destroy the environment.

Great post Mr. Z! We need to concentrate on supplying more energy for our own people and quit screwing around with their lifestayles, using some idiotic "Man-made Global Warming" as the excuse.

The exact same farce is being perpetuated on Australia under our new PM (leftist) Kevin Rudd who signed up to the Kyoto Protocol soon after taking office. It's all about redistribution of wealth. China and India will never be forced to sign up.
