Please try not to say 'Happy Holidays'
The season is upon us! Say MERRY CHRISTMAS or HAPPY HANNUKAH.... these are the faiths of 90% of America! Why not SAY THE WORDS?!! (I did NOT write the poem below but wanted to share)
Merry Christmas my Friends!
*Twas the month before Christmas*
*When all through our land,*
*Not a Christian was praying*
*Nor taking a stand.*
*See the PC Police had taken away....
*the reason for Christmas - no one could say.*
*The children were told by their schools not to sing,*
*About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.*
*It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say*
* December 25th is just a 'Holiday'.*
*Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit*
*Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!*
*CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod*
*Something was changing, something quite odd! *
*Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa*
*In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.*
*As Targets were hanging their trees upside down*
* At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.*
*At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears*
*You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your
ears.*
*Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty*
*Are words that were used to intimidate me.*
*Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen*
*On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton!*
*At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter*
*To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.*
*And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith*
* Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace*
*The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded*
*The reason for the season, stopped before it started.*
*So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' under your 'Dream Tree'*
*Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.*
*Choose your words carefully, choose what you say*
*Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday!*
Z: I once asked a Jewish friend if, growing up, he'd been offended by MERRY CHRISTMAS!, or office CHRISTMAS parties, or CHRISTMAS music playing at the department stores. His answer?
"Yes, don't you just hate it when people are in terrific moods, and rosy cheeked kids's eyes are glowing, and the music's so beautiful, and everybody at the office is having a blast? No, Z.....not at all, in fact, I enjoyed it."

Excellent poem. I agree with Shoprat.
Is that every major department store who instructs their employees not to be specific, though? Or sells Christmas trees upside down, or has HOLIDAY SALE on the banner in front of their store?.....do they 'hate Christianity and Judaism'?
WHY AREN'T THE STORES FEARFUL OF OFFENDING 90% OF THE PURCHASERS AT THIS TIME OF YEAR??
I always say Merry Christmas or Happy Hannukah if I know the person's faith. It's sweet to see their eyes open wide and it NEVER FAILS that they say MERRY CHRISTMAS more vociferously than I in response, as if "Hey, YOU said it, so I CAN, TOO..I LIKE THAT" Very sweet..happened all last year, I have to say.
MERY CHRISTMAS Z!!!!
WHY AREN'T THE STORES FEARFUL OF OFFENDING 90% OF THE PURCHASERS AT THIS TIME OF YEAR??
Excellent point, Z.
Love the poem...going to use it soon.
Thanks Z!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
The store I work at has a "Christmas Shop" for all of your decorating needs, and also plays some Christian carols.
Aw, yeah.
I've never been offended by a well wish of any religion!
The stores don't hate Christianity and Judaism but they are afraid of offending those who do.
It's a great parody, one of those things I wish I had written, myself, but didn't. (:-c
It's amusing, of course, but Alas! not a bit funny, because it spotlights the tragedy of our national cowardice in the face of aggressive Political Correctness.
It may be difficult for all the various branches of Christianity to agree on what it means to be a Christian, but nevertheless, at least THREE QUARTERS of the nation identifies itself as Christian. Also --- divisive though it may be to say it --- the nation is still TWO-THIRDS WHITE.
The cultural and religious customs of the (vast) majority has been attacked, undermined and supplanted with secular humanist (i.e. Marxist) notions of what makes a truly "fair and just" society.
As a result we have become a nation of humorless would-be dictators and cowardly targets of high-minded, self-righteous, tyrannical busybodies. In other words we have allowed ourselves to be turned into moral and spiritual EUNUCHS.
Don't be a shrinking violet. When someone says "Happy Holidays!" or "Seasons Greetings!" to you, give him a hearty clap on the shoulder, and cheerfully say, "And a MERRY CHRISTMAS to you, my friend, and may the love of Christ bless you in the New Year!"
While I respect everyone's right to believe or disbelieve as he chooses, and celebrate and revere whatever he wishes, I think it only fair to point out that Channukah, a relatively minor holy day in the Jewish calendar, is not the moral equivalent of Christmas, and that Kwaanza is a recent construct of meddlesome Afro-centrists. Kwaanza is made up out of whole cloth to help spread the divisive doctrines of Multiculturalism.
I'm sorry, but it's perfectly NATURAL for the dominant culture to ... er ... well ... DOMINATE. We are STILL at least nominally a CHRISTIAN nation.
Let's enjoy it and celebrate it, instead of letting ourselves be intimidated into pretending we're something we are not.
PC creates artificial, hypocritical relationships loaded with tension and barely concealed resentment.
Have a Merry Christmas, a Happy Chanukah, chant and burn offerings of incense to Buddha, or go ahead and be a Grinch and sulk away the Holy Season in gloom, if you must, but DON'T let "them" make you put on a false face and act in a manner that is unnatural to you and your particular heritage.
There's nothing shameful, cruel, unjust or immoral about being part of a MAJORITY.

tis the season of oppression
The more people who wish others Merry Christmas, the more emboldened others will be to do the same thing.
So, shout it from the rooftops. Christmas is an American holiday, and that is proclaimed by the fact it is a federal observance and holiday.
If we stopped doing or saying everything that offended somebody, we'd be in a perpetual state of paralysis, figuratively speaking.
I have been known to elicit a "Merry Christmas" from employees who work in stores who disallow it. And I do it with a smile, and when they comply I say "now that didn't hurt did it?" They usually smile back, btw.
If they sell Christmas goods, they have no business denying the very holiday they profit from. Such is political correctness. If we resist it every way we can, perhaps we can ultimately make it an unpleasant memory.
Those who hate Christianity and Judaism, are past worrying about. They will hate regardless of what we do. Ignore them.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE. Let's enjoy it freely with an open heart, that's what I'm going to do.
Pris
Nobody is offended Z. Nobody gives a crap. If someone said Happy Hanukkah to me I would say thank you very much and I would say it in return.

The Right Opinion, for the Right Wing
I always say Merry Christmas, I don't care. Ben Stein has a good article about this same thing.
Did you hear about Carleton University in Canada's student union who decided not to include the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in their fundraising this year becasue the disease isn't inclusive enough? It's mainly a white disease and mainly males are affected. Both tenets are incorrect, of course.
Because of the uproar they caused, it has been rescinded.
The president of Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida declared that there would be no Christmas decorations of any kind anywhere on the campus. There was such an outcry from faculty and students that he changed his mind.
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Brooke and CHristopher..isn't that the POINT?
What would I CARE if somebody wished me HAPPY HANNUKAH!? Super! HAPPY KWANZA? Great! (okay..happy ramadan, not so much..sorry..!!)...
Yes!
THE POINT is the one AOW likes (Thanks Always)..WHY TICK OFF YOUR BUYERS? Is hate so important, so dominant? HATE OF CHRISTIANS?
I believe SHOPRAT hit the nail on the head..the stores are AFRAID OF OFFENDING THOSE WHO DO HATE CHRISTIANS AND JEWS.
My question is this: Are there SO MANY MORE who HATE CHRISTANS AND JEWS than there ARE Christians and Jews? naaa.
so, what's WITH these dopey stores?
No WONDER we're in a recession (Smile) !!
Obob..that cracked me up. Too bad it's getting kind of TRUE! I don't feel OPPRESSED, but I sometimes fee DEpressed when I see such incredible and obvious attempts at skirting the holiday.
I mean..they're CHRISTMAS TREES, for goodness sake. Why call them HOLIDAY TREES? What the heck OTHER holiday prompts PINE TREES for sale for decoration? That REALLY makes me laugh..HOLIDAY TREES! OH, BROTHER.
Beverly...I heard of both of those and BOTH were rescinded, thanks for the reminder..maybe we ARE winning... SANITY~!?
I hope all you people are in a Christmasy mood when its time to buy me a nice expensive gift. This year, I'd like a Hummer H3. Now you can buy one and get one for free, so talk about cheap. And it won't hurt as much if you all chip in.
Oh, and Merry Christmas to you guys too. I'm doing Christmas Cards this year. Well, I would if I had any friends. But if you all chip in for the H-3, I'll send you a Christmas Card.
How am I doing so far?
I hate it when people tell me to have a nice day, like they just have a spare one to give away.
Beamish..I guess it's sort of like "let's give him a hand", huh?
Sam...welcome! I'll buy you a Hummer..I'll do anything for a card (NOT)!!
I too agree with Shoprat, most Christians and Jews would have no problems if people would leave them alone. I actually find a Manora display attractive and don't even suffer a crisis of faith when I see one.
I have always had the theory that people who are uncomforatable with these displays are not comfortable with their beliefs. The example I use is athiests. If an athiest were truly comfortable with their lack of faith, they would not feel threatened by the faith of others, it would be irrelevant.
I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I
would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have
enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

I boycotted Target last year b/c they stopped saying Christmas.
yech.
It's so silly.
Merry Christmas!! There is only one reason for this special season.
God Bless America, God Save The Republic.
When people say "happy holidays," I can hardly resist asking "TO WHICH HOLIDAYS ARE YOU REFERRING??"
A. Halloween and Thanksgiving?
B. Thanksgiving and Christmas?
C. Christmas and the 4th of July?
D. Valentines Day and St. Patty's?
E. None of the above?
Agreed Z, and none of that 'xmas' either.
Well said Z! There is indeed a war against traditional faith, especially Christianity and it's BIGGEST celebration, Christmas. I LOVE this time of year, with all the lights and joy and gift giving. The secular left is especially perturbed by Christmas because to them it represents a belief in G-d AND Americana: Two things they really hate.
Keep up the good work.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Z
A few small words of advice:
Let's concentrate
On Christmas Joy,
Instead of things
Bound to annoy.
Expressing petulance
Is treason
To the Spirit
Of the Season.
Love and gladness
Come to earth,
We should greet
With thanks and mirth.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
And BE of GOOD CHEER in the GLAD NEW YEAR!
~ FT
Ducky always says Merry Christmas.
For all the crap people give Wal-Mart, I work at the Distribution Center and I wear full blown Jesus gear to work every day. No one says a word.
Full-blown Jesus gear?
Does that mean you have long brown hair, a full beard and wear a white robe and sandals?
Or do you work wrapped in swaddling clothes while lying in a manger?
(Just kidding, but i couldn't resist.) But what DID you mean?
Hey! Have a Kewel Yule, man. ;-)
~ FreeThinke
FT..I kind of wondered about that myself!!
I meant that I wear gear that actually has Jesus' name on it.
Good one, highboy....That takes guts...I wish there were more like you out there!
this is one thing we can agree on. I hate the expression
Happy Holidays and cringe when I see 'xmas.'
Thanks, Susan, but no matter how much you like this blog or any other, I'm not buying car insurance from you!!
