Gingrich: Will he stand true or pimp for CNN?

I take it most of you know Gingrich is going to host CNN's return of CROSSFIRE.  Think he'll stand up for true, America-improving Conservatism , or..........please see below:
Gingrich holds up a light bulb in remarks about the Republican Party's need to innovate, to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in National Harbor
Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA) holds up a light bulb in remarks about the Republican …
By Scott Malone
BOSTON (Reuters) - Former U.S. House speaker Newt Gingrich told a meeting of the Republican National Committee that his party needs to move beyond its image of steadfast opposition to President Barack Obama and convince voters its goal is to improve the country.
"We have to get beyond being anti-Obama and we have to convince people you can have hope in America (Z: please see below)," Gingrich said on Wednesday. "What we have to do, in a sense, is be a party of optimism and a party of hope and show actual cases of how it can work." (z:  you see the conundrum, don't you.  To most Conservative Americans, improving the country includes steadfast opposition to most of what Obama's trying to do...so..what's Gingrich's point?  How can you have hope in America and NOT be anti-Obama, who's on the road to destroying ALL hope in America?)
Speaking at a Boston hotel adjacent to where Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney delivered his 2012 concession speech after failing to unseat Obama, Gingrich said the party needed to be more alert to ways Americans were changing, particularly in their use of technology.
"What happened last year? Why were so many of us wrong?" Gingrich asked the group.
Following Romney's loss, in which Republicans lagged far behind in support among women and minority voters, some party leaders have engaged in soul-searching, looking at whether some Republican positions have become too conservative to appeal broadly to voters.  (Z: so we give up good principles because Americans are too far left and don't appeal to dopes who don't even know who our Vice President is, or who'd vote for Obama knowing how much he'd lied, or vote for him again knowing how he's put us so far into debt, etc?)

Still, Republican control of House of Representatives has given the party a firm position to oppose initiatives backed by Obama's Democrats, and some Republican state governments have pursued more conservative drives, including efforts to restrict access to abortion sharply at the state level. (Z:  no bias by the writers, of course :)  Maybe someone ought to tell them the stats show Americans are, more and more, anti abortion?)
The gathering - the RNC's regular summer meeting - was originally scheduled to be held in Chicago, but Republican leaders decided to move the venue to Boston in the wake of the April 15 Boston Marathon bombing, which killed three people and injured about 264.
(Reporting by Scott Malone; Editing by Cynthia Osterman)

Z:  Yes, I agree with Gingrich on the HOPE IN AMERICA thing.  No doubt about that.   But, WHERE IS THE PERSON TO DO THAT?   What Conservative will just say it like it is?:
Obama Care is too expensive, most people don't want it and Unions hate it because of the huge amount of jobs we're going to lose in this country.
We need to be truly energy dependent and Obama's holding us back.
Sooner or later, in socialism or redistribution (whatever name you feel more comfortable with), someone runs out of money.
ETC. ETC. ETC.

Will Gingrich hold up against the other CROSSFIRE host, Communist Van Jones, or will his pleasure at having his own show dazzle him too much and compromise OUR VIEWPOINTS to the limits?  What do you think?

Z

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. Now where have I heard that before?..

Does Gingrich need money? Is that the reason that he's joining CNN?

Z, I so agree with this statement that you made:

How can you have hope in America and NOT be anti-Obama, who's on the road to destroying ALL hope in America?

Z - I think Gingrich will wallow in the pleasure of having his own show.

If you want to see hate in it's purest, ugliest, most powerful form, don't look at Republicans. They're too busy trying to be "nice" to Democrats in the hope of making themselves look "palatable" to the public. A losing strategy if ever there was one.

Hate has shown its hideous face right here in the person of that duck character.

Now if you want to see hate erupting, scattering hot ash all over the territory, vomiting lava, scalding the hillsides 24/7, visit Progressive Eruptions the blog of Shaw Kenawe, the Wicked Witch of the Blogosphere.

Republicans may be stupid, but they are not hateful. Spewing hate is the province of the Democrats who are now the American Communist Party, whether they want to admit it or not.

Sorry, Katharine, to have your comment about 'the duck character' look 'out of nowhere' but I deleted the him just now ... nobody uses that kind of talk around here. Ever.

Ducky...you didn't really think you could come to my blog and insult that badly, DID you? You're a very, very, very slow learner.

Sue, I'm not surprised you'd agree.

AOW....he is destroying all hope; it's everywhere, it's palpable; this is a different country. Much worse. And I don't see it coming back.

My Cons. Thoughts...I agree; it's those who didn't see through Obama and were blinded by his ....whatever. And who've bought into the ideas that entitlements are more valuable than good character.

Crossfire is an entertainment show. Newt will be playing the role of the "conservative"/ He will do what he is paid to do.

I agree with Jim, Newt will play the role; play Republican, roll with the punches, collect big $$$$$!

I'm afraid that people will Continue to vote Democrat, at least, as long as the hand-outs (other peoples money) last.

The problem with the GOP position is that the "good policies" that all the grassroots Conservative and Libertarian voters support are ANETHEMA to the GOP leadership.

The leadership (both RNC & DNC) want to control ever greater proportions of the American economy... it makes THEM increasingly important/ influential/ powerful. Cutting government is NOT something that leadership see's as part of its' interest. Besides, all the campaign cash comes from the Pay to Play corporate players.

Gingrich is a "BIG" idea's guy. He talks the "smaller government" talk, but with Newt, it's ALL talk. As soon as an opportunity for the government to spend more/ do more comes along, Newt is the first one in to propose a "government" solution to accomplish it.

Thersites said...

Newt's criticism...

Look your Republican member of Congress in the eye and ask, "What is your positive replacement for Obamacare?"

The question that he is REALLY asking is...

"What is your GOVERNMENT solution for destroying a free market health care system?"

Gingrich, Inc., is the problem with our country today. We have a gaggle of lawyers who have discovered that politics pays more money for far less effort than an actual law practice. For most politicians, they are pursuing a career path
—it has nothing whatever to do with serving the American republic or its people. I would rather have people in office who are not quite as smart as Gingrich thinks he is, but who rather devote every moment of their day working on behalf of the American people …

Not to worry, though. I’m not holding my breath.

Yup. You get to write books (or pay ghost writers), you get to being paid to talk and spill more B/S, you get to be on TV, etc... Basically you get paid a lot of money for not bringing much value to society while we are working hard.

Not any different than the monarchy at the end.

Thersites, I hope not, but you're probably right.

Mustang, I wish we had farmers and plumbers and electricians and teachers in Congress SOMEWHERE. Well, maybe we do. 3 who aren't doctors or lawyers!? :-) awful

TOTALITARIANISM comes in different shapes and sizes and under many guises but the end result is the same. There´s very little difference between Islamic Law,socialism,Marxism, communism and liberalism. All seek to control their populations with outliers being severely punished. The rodeo clown, the refusal to abide by the George Zimmerman verdict and Paula Deen fuck up ,to name a few examples of an administration gone wild.

I believe what Gingrich meant was, it's time the Republicans get out a positive agenda of their own.

I'm not willing to denigrate him now. Let's wait and see how he conducts himself, and speaks on Crossfire.

I remember when he was for medical savings accounts for Americans, and it would have been the people's choice as to their own care.

I also remember that he took on welfare reform, and millions of people responded with getting jobs.
It was passed twice and Clinton went along with it the second time around.

Gingrich is associated with "American Legacy Pac - Preserving the American Story".

So, before you put Newt down, let's wait and see. Shall we?

Why do people hate Liberals? I don't hate liberals. BTW they are progressives. They just stole the liberal moniker when people realized how nuts progressives were ND HOW HATED THEY ARE.
The one thing about these boards that most baffles me is the incredible stupid and liberals really are..

Most sensible people realize that all liberals are stupid, anti-patriotic, dumb...and you name it. Of you need an example of it, just take a trip down to the blog called Progressive Eruptions and read some of the trash written there by the authur a Dummy called Shaw Kenawe and see the hypocrisy and mindcontrolling manipulative pile of leftist garbage for what it is and the fact of the architects being the only beneficiary of such socialist politics.

I don't think Newt on CNN will be any better or worse than Mike Huckabee on FOX.

As far as holding up the right / conservative side of an argument in a "Crossfire" style show, he'll do FAR better than when there was no FOX and Pat "I ran for Prez with a Commie" Buchanan was the primary example of the lack of conservative voices on CNN.

Newt took the brunt of a quarter-billion dollar Mitt Romney anti-conservative smear campaign last year. He still has his fans, even if the Republican Party no longer does.

Yea Beamer
I first hear this and thought Newt is trying to one-up Hillry's -the Media's Documentary love fest.
Newt will prob run again in 2016; he needs the left side exposure.

Ed Bonderenka said...

I'm with Pris. Give him a chance. It's gonna happen anyhow.
People who don't/won't watch Fox, listen to Rush or Bennett, may he exposed to thoughts more conservative than theirs.

In disclosure, I don't watch any of this sort of thing anymore. Waste of time and no offense to anyone who does.
CNN heavily serves their democrat masters. Therefore, whatever Gingrich does will fall in line with what they feel is acceptable, or as I more suspect, he will just be used to make people think CNN is trying to balance. It will all be BS.

Anyone wants to challenge me on that, point me to a Gringrich/CNN piece in the future and I'll take a look.
