A WOMEN'S PLACE

Afghanistan , several years before the Afghan conflict.
She noted that women customarily walked five paces behind their husbands.

the women now seem happy to maintain the old custom.

Z: (there's probably no bit of truth to this, but it IS funny!)...
ALMOST as funny as Barbara Walters saying newscasters don't show their political preferences!
SHE DID! Read the link :-)

Hilarious! Thanks for a great start, today.
And they make fun of Sarah Palin! This woman is so over rated, I don't know why she even gets quoted.
That is a good one!
A deeper truth is that we will not change that centuries old society, and it is foolish to believe we can.
Once again, Silverfiddle hits upon a very important point. We did not go to Afghanistan to prevent men from cutting off the noses of women. We did not go there to prevent the stoning of women. We did not go there to change Islamic custom… But if you listen to the propaganda of Laura Bush and others, we enabled women to once again attend school and become an integral part of society.
That is complete balderdash. We did not send our warriors into harm’s way to accomplish any of those things. We went to Afghanistan, ostensibly, to locate, close with, and destroy the people who planned or participated in the attacks of 9/11. Afghanistan has always been a treacherous place, and this is true today as much as it was 2,000 years ago. There is not a single thing about Afghanistan that warrants the death or injury of one single American —but it would be a great place to send numbskulls like Barbara Walters, Tingles Matthews, and Keith Olbermann.
Moral of the story: you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink.
Or put a better way: bombing Afghanistan into the Stone Age is a complete waste of bombs: they have always been Stone Age people, are today Stone Age people, and will always be Stone Age people.
thanks, everyone...
how's about the link at the bottom where Walters suggests that newscasters don't reveal their politics :-) Not MUCH!
Pity the women after we are gone. IF it is bad now, wait until they return en maase to "the old ways".
WA WA is full of it. You can pick your choice of words for "it".
Bwaahaahaaaa!!! Didn't see that one coming!
Of course, if that were so the 'husbands' would be making their potato sack clad chattel walk in front!
Thanks for a great post. Please keep it up.
LOL! That's as funny as the reason why women have smaller feet than men.
(hint) It's one of those evolutionary things. Small feet allow them to stand closer to the sink.
Absolutely hysterical!!! Read that on my way out the door this morning and laughed about it all day
As for most journalists concealing their political affiliations, ostriches do a better job of hiding.!
Sorry. Forgot to proof read the last one. ;-)
My wife always says, "Fives steps behind, two to the left" as she walks behind me.
Usually because I just walk faster than her.
Now I've got to watch for mines?
This mechanism eliminates any apprehension you may have about setting your bike at the best height for you to ride. These fumes can demonstrate lethal or, at the very least, trigger headaches, weakness and loss of muscle control. The prices of one cup coffee brewers vary depending on the brand name and its features.
