"ANOTHER RANT from Z? So soon?"

UPDATE: PLEASE WATCH THIS. Oprah will amaze you; "God is a feeling, not a believing experience, and if you're still believing, that's not GOD" Please watch the link.
I performed self-mutilation today! I watched OPRAH! Yes, for ten minutes, during which she talked with the PREGNANT MAN and the expectant mother. It would have probably been real sexy to embed the video here (you can see it in the link, but I don't like sensationalism on TV, so I'm sure not going to do it here!), where you can see this guy running his hands over his distended pregnancy belly. SUCH largesse from Oprah, "did some people ridicule you? Oh, your father...your brothers, yes...isn't that awful. They just don't understand.." UNDERSTAND??
Then she went to a commercial, after which "...we'll answer how he got pregnant when HE'S the one with the penis!" (charming, Oprah...I'm dying to know!) He says "I see pregnancy as a process and it doesn't define who I am. Ironically, being pregnant doesn't make me feel any more female or feminine."
Here's the irony: Before they went to commercial (from which I admit I didn't wait and see HOW he got pregnant), here's what was said:
"And tomorrow, we'll have A SICKENING REPORT on puppy mills". THE OUTRAGE! Sure, I think mills are probably best reserved only for grains and black pepper, but this is "SICKENING" and THE PREGNANT MAN isn't? Here's what was the most sickening part; The photo of the 'wife' standing behind her pregnant husband, torso exposed, and the wife's hands rubbing his expectant belly.
Another rant. Maybe I just need a nap? Am I nuts or is the world, well..............almost done?

Z said...

They were on FOX, huh? Big surprise. Morgan, we're selling the heart and soul of our country for a story that's scintillating...that gets RATINGS! How long before Larry King spends a full hour and broadcasts it all over the world? It SELLS. Why else do they mention this kind of thing? It's dangerous, it's revolting, as you say..it's totally DISGUSTING. And oh, don't let Oprah hear us say that!! Abomination is the PERFECT word for them, couched in political correctness and a lack of shame we might not recover from.

Anonymous said...

Oh, it's bizarre and sickening all right, but not NEARLY as frightful and revolting as everyday life in the world of Islam, Sub-Saharan Africa, North Korea or most of Southeast Asia–––to say nothing of the vast stretches of poverty and degradation all over Central and South America.

Oprah is only REFLECTING the morbid obsession with cheap sensationalism that has captured and enraptured this overprivileged, challenge-averse country since long before Phil Donohue donned a dress in front of the cameras, and Sally Jessie Raphael began her parade of transexuals with big breasts who decided to keep their male genitalia intact so they could enjoy the best of both worlds, I suppose.

Don't let it getcha down, Z. "Normal" is only a word–––an "artificial construct" dreamed up by power elites of the past in order to maintain social control, didn't you know?

"Normal" is vastly different in every era, in every ethnic group and in every religion and every denomination and branch thereof.

As for the pregnant man, who used to be a woman, his wife and their absurd exhibitionist tendencies, our real concern should be for the future of the child that results from this queer concatenation of biological, surgical, emotional and endocrinological events.

By the way, apparently you are NOT receiving my emails. Heaven only knows where they are? Lost in Cyberspace, I must presume. None have been returned as "undeliverable," and I have sent at least two of them TWICE.

The Internet is almost as bizarre as The Oprah Winfrey Show–––probably more so considering what we've put up with at FPM all these years.

You should be happy to know that after eight years of fractiousness, willful misunderstanding and bilious temperament I have, as of last night, voluntarily retired from that wretched site. I wrote to the Moderator and asked him formally to pull the plug on me. I hope he does.

Morgan,

I've been concerned about your sister, Michelle, since I learned yesterday of her illness and surgery. You've had lots of people praying for Michelle and your entire family.

Please tell us she is doing well and will soon be out of the woods.

Believe me, we care.

FT: I haven't rec'd a thing from you! Morgan's sister is doing well and he's going to help care for her this weekend. He wrote that he really appreciated all the concern and prayers, FT. I'm so glad that Michelle has this behind her....here's to many years of excellent health.

re: Oprah? I can't not get bothered. I guess I have to admit I care way more for what's happening here in America than I to the Sudan or anywhere else. Sorry, but I do. Anyway, without our country continuing its wonderful path (which I'm doubtful of now), the third world will be the eighth world in three years.

Elbro: great point. It was so bizarre, you really thought somebody ought to jump out from behind the sofa and call it all a joke. But, oh, that audience of Oprah's was RAPT, in AWE...wincing at the couples' report of people who "just don't understand".

Yes Zin, it will be in English, The Article is about an heroic wonderfull heart breaking story.

American Story, and I'm concerned personally, this is what I can say now, to keep the Surprise,

I can not shorten the history, it will be unfair.

When you will see the article, you will believe that, nobody can cut a part of that.

Can we please stop calling this she a he? There's no such thing as a "pregnant man".

Hormones and a cosmetic surgery do not change X chromosomes into Y chromosomes.

This woman is just a seriously disturbed individual who should do us all a favor and crawl back under her rock.

Hi, Mike. The thing is not so much what these total FREAKS are doing but how it affects America and our kids. The images in the links I provide will literally nauseate you and they're everywhere! Sure, they can crawl under a rock, but they won't. if there's a barn door on a rock, it's already opened.

This is insane, what happened to good old fashion moral standards and values. Unfortunately we are filling our lives with this garbage and accepting in. We, the viewers, accept that each time these reality shows and talk shows have more garbage in them! I'm speachless, what is this world coming to and why are we allowing it? (Weird thought, are we the only ones that find this sickening? Is this "normal" to others??)

Z said...

Hi, Me! (glad to have you here!!)

That's what was scary...the faces on those Oprah audience members were just in awe of the thing, 'feeling their pain', all of that. Oprah's weakened them though, don't forget; this is a crowd of Kool Aid drinkers who've been slowly indoctrinated. The asides and comments from Oprah were the most telling.

This wasn't an 'exposee' kind of thing...this was all about "Here, America..this is just another lifestyle and you'd better get used to it, and isn't it wonderful to have such diversity." She interviewed the OB/GYN and was so impressed that she'd taken them on "So, did people say 'you shouldn't take this case' and insult you at all for having taken it on'?" Message from Oprah: the pigs who don't welcome a woman turned man turned expectant mother are unworthy of respect.

HELP!!

CJ said...

This is part of the End Times Agenda, it's growing apace and Oprah is positioned where she can do the most "good" for her chosen cause. I watched her too, and I THINK I heard them say at the end that this odd couple are part of Oprah's webcast New Age brainwashing project with that weird guy Eckart something. Tolle. I wasn't watching closely enough to know for sure but they did exchange words toward the end about his New Earth project of "enlightening" everyone and changing the planet person by person, teaching "tolerance" being apparently a big part of this project. It isn't going to get better. Doctrines of Demons, Z, putting good for evil and evil for good.

As I watched, I thought how "normal" he/she managed to appear though. Definitely a man I thought. I looked for telltale feminine mannerisms or physiognomy. None that I could detect. They explained the hormonal situation. Nice ordinary people in a strange situation but preparing like any normal couple to welcome their child. That's the portrait conveyed.

Every time the audience applauded, as they always regularly do on these shows, I cringed. The audience was initially shocked but by the end they were brainwashed.

CJ said...

I just read your last comment, Z, which I hadn't seen before I wrote mine. Yes, the audience was brainwashed.

You know this started with Donahue, though, remember? Every oddball thing was brought on and he ALWAYS asked How do you FEEL about this? (Everybody feels differently about it.) "But who's to say what's right or wrong here?" Oprah is just the latest and biggest in the tradition.

Anonymous said...

Hi everyone,

FT, please! There most certainly is a norm. When dealing with nature and all things natural, because man has the hubris to think he knows best, and can "make" nature better, is to invite any manner of damaging consequences.

In this ridiculous case, Mike is right, this is a woman who is capable of carrying a child.

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig!

God made men and women the way they are for the sole purpose of procreation. End of story.

This makes as much sense as believing man can control the climate.

We're only passing through, and it's sad that a few humans think they and their whims are more important than the natural scheme of things which has served mankind so well.

Think this pregnant male phenomenon is noteworthy? Take a look at this NYT report on the behavior of Randi Rhodes.

••• "April 3, 2008, 2:20 pm

••• "Air America Host Suspended for Clinton Remarks

••• "By BRIAN STELTER

••• "Randi Rhodes, an afternoon host for the progressive Air America radio network, was suspended Thursday after repeatedly insulting Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton at an event last month.

••• "Ms. Rhodes used vulgar language that likened Mrs. Clinton to a prostitute at an event sponsored by KKGN, the Air America affiliate in the San Francisco area, on March 22. A video of Ms. Rhodes’ remarks was published to the video-sharing Web site YouTube on Tuesday, prompting condemnations by some bloggers.

••• "In a statement, Charlie Kireker, the chair of Air America, said the radio network “encourages strong opinions about public affairs but does not condone such abusive, ad hominem language by our hosts.”

••• "The network called Ms. Rhodes’ suspension “indefinite” and did not elaborate on the fate of her daily three-hour radio show. “The Randi Rhodes Show” is normally broadcast from 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays. Sam Seder, another Air America host, was scheduled to fill in for Ms. Rhodes on Thursday.

••• "On the video, Ms. Rhodes is also shown using derogatory language to describe Geraldine A. Ferraro, a former congresswoman and a supporter of Mrs. Clinton. Ms. Ferraro resigned from a committee of Mrs. Clinton’s campaign last month after making controversial remarks about Senator Barack Obama.

••• "Earlier this year, David Shuster, a reporter for MSNBC, was been suspended because of comments he made about Chelsea Clinton. Mr. Shuster said Ms. Clinton had been “pimped out” to make calls to superdelegates on behalf of her mother." •••

Now all of this would be just ducky if her organization had applied the SAME standard to her endless outpouring of raw sewage over President Bush et al., but they didn't, did they? And so this is just another disgusting example of shameless Liberal Hypocrisy at work.

So what else is new?

But WAIT! Think of the implications for Free Speech in America. THINK! We really do NOT believe in the First Amendment anymore, do we? "Freedom of expression" is rapidly becoming a thing of the past thanks to Hate Crimes and Hate Speech legislation. And THAT is why I am against castigating OPRAH for showcasing material most of US find distasteful.

There is nothing in the Constitution that tries to define or in way modify "Public Taste." If there had been, Elvis would never have swung his pelvis on Ed Sullivan, the Beatles would never have been allowed to appear in those shocking hairdos, and not ONE of the Stones would ever have been permitted to roll so far as an INCH, and Lady Chatterly's Lover would never have made its way into our bookshelves. Not that I, personally, would have been in any way distressed had those things never become part of our culture–––quite the opposite in fact.

HOWEVER, our Great Big Problem is that ALL factions would like to have unlimited freedom for all the things THEY like while proscribing the free expression of everything they DON'T like. We're ALL tyrants at heart, but just don't want to admit it.

HI, ALL! WHAT GREAT COMMENTS YOU'VE ALL LEFT...LET ME SAY SOMETHING RIGHT OFF THE BAT HERE:

I DON'T GIVE A $#*(&#(ABOUT THIS COUPLE.. I DIDN'T POST THIS FOR SENSATIONALISM, OR TO JUMP IN WITH A STORY ON THE 'HOTTEST' THING... I POSTED IT HERE SO WE ALL KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON...SO WE ALL SEE HOW POWERFUL OPRAH IS (See CJ's comment "the audience was initially shocked but by the end they were brainwashed"..) THIS IS WHY I POSTED THIS PIECE. (and to get it out of my system!!)

CJ, you are SO right about starting with Donohue. The unbelievably shocking things then (sperm banks, etc. remember how amazed we were, how debauched and sick we thought that was? And couples LIVING TOGETHER??ARGH!!! Ha!!) Actually, i didn't think they were so bad, these things, because I was younger and rather "OPEN" minded and ol' Phil was SO convincing! Thank God, and due to God, my mind has slammed shut on what's bad and remains only open to what's good (or it TRIES, right!?) Problem is when I see the BAD, the mind's shut and has no outlet so everything clangs around in there louder than it used to...no escape valve BUT MY RANTS!! (Smile) Thanks for the great input, CJ.

But TMW and nanc..yes, it's 15 minutes of fame but so have other things been which we found shocking and now they're mainstream!

Brooke...the 'fawning' is what made me sick, too.

Gayle, glad to have you here. And yes, my husband calls it "self mutilation" when I watch CNN, too! Oh, I'm hearing Hillary from the next room talking about Dr. King. What did Brooke say in her commment about 'throwing up in the mouth'!!?? OH! Her tone of voice..gag!

FT: I'll never slam Oprah for whatever she wants to do in her private life; if she weren't so powerful, who'd care? I care greatly about the dumbing down of our society....as CJ said "the audience was shocked at first, then brainwashed". I came in too late to see the 'shocked', I only saw their reactions of such warmth and acceptance for something so sick. Watch the link! You might call that free speech on Oprah's part; I call it a willing and eager attempt at sickening our society. Also, she had ONE MILLION women sign up in ONE DAY for a radio course on her radio program encouraging us to "remember our name is as holy as God's.., not to be so pathetic as to follow the old rugged cross.." and worse. ONE MILLION WOMEN will be listening and brainwashed.

I find that sick and wrong. And I'm sad Americans can fall for her stuff but Oprah's been laying the support for this for years.

Anonymous said...

I stopped watching Oprah years ago, when I noticed in her, the beginnings of her self-perception that because she had seemingly found answers for herself, she must be right, therefore everyone should accept her answers for themselves.

Here's that word hubris again. Oprah, like anyone with a public persona, has a personal life of which we know only what she decides she wants us to know.

To become an icon is a tough job. Oprah it seems to me, has become totally absorbed in herself, and the power she wields, and has a forum to enhance it.

And now, existing in the glow of her selfcenteredness, she takes on God.

Her audience, in her eyes, seems to have become a malleable congregation of Oprah followers. Listening, enraptured while she expounds on the virtues of all things Oprah, the way and the light.

Yet the book of Jesus and God himself, the Bible, can be torn asunder by her, because.. well.....she's Oprah.

Pris

Z said...

Pris, "the way and the light". GOOD one.
You hit on something I have thought since I stopped watching Oprah except in short spurts to see what's going on there; She is healing HERSELF, looking for redemption for life choices she was raised knowing better about, losing weigh in front of millions and 'how to', discussing pedophilia and rape to help her get over her own supposed tragedies in her life, etc. etc. This is about HEALING OPRAH! Say Hallejiah! And she gives away FREE CARS! Does that heal the money guilt?

You know, I probably sound like a total shrew here. I think giving cars to people is swell. I'd about do ANYTHING to be able to do something that grand for so many people, wouldn't you!? What a thrill!! I think that hosts pick subjects which apply to themselves, too....but her solutions are SO biased towards the only way she can fix things in the least painful way, the least bless-ed way.......She's not kicking the boyfriend out, so she has shrinks on there who congratulate her 'choice'. right?

A low on Oprah's show was when she had a 9/11 widow on with two kids. .The widow said one kid had admittedly had problems since the tragic loss of her husband, of course..the other was "doing pretty darned well! I'm very proud of him. He's back to doing very good work in school, his teachers are happy, he's got great friends, plays soccer...." The Shrink Oprah has on so often, said "No. He can't be okay. YOu need to realize he needs help." WHAT??

I mean.....CAN Americans do ANYTHING without shrinks....or OPRAH?

Anonymous said...

But, nanc,
I think that is what no one is connecting here...they don't think of the poor child unless it's being raised by ignorant, Christians who will indoctrinate it into believing creationism and hatred of sinful behavior...which they deem to be 'discrimination'...and we all know that 'no' discrimination will be tolerated...

Abortion, demonstrates clearly that 'thinking' about the innocent fetus is NOT paramount over personal convenience. It leads to comments by like 'I don't want my daughter PUNISHED with a PREGNANCY.' This by a man who is SO against 'the child yet to be born' that he would NOT allow a vote to ban the practice of leaving infants who survived the abortive process aside without rendering them medical treatment. Then, when he could hold it up no longer, voted Present rather than taking a stand to 'think about the child.'

When a child pits two competing political special interests against one another: 'protecting children' and 'gay rights'...we can see CLEARLY where the status quo come down on the matter. All the 'protecting children' pretense is seen for what it really is...an attempt to insinuate the gov't into the lives of children as early as possible and to FORCE the liberal, secular-progressive mindset onto its impressionable little brain. Of course, given the choice to simply eliminate that impressionable little brain or to have to worry that some Christian, God fearing family might impress it with ideas of creationism or individual freedoms, they will opt for eliminating the child.

We have become a nation no longer willing to fight for the 'truly' innocent or those truly incapable of fighting for themselves, and instead picked chic martyrs of sexual preference and race and gender..all of whom have rights and abilities and the privilege of having been born in a free nation with protections and opportunities to be heard...We protect THOSE who already have protection, and allow the destruction of those who cannot help themselves to the tune of 500, 000 a year..

THAT is why nobody is concerned about this child or what experience or problems it may suffer as a consequence...it doesn't RANK as high on chic and martyrdom as does the gay rights issue or the 'sexual' revolution.

Hi Z,

You don't sound like a shrew. If Oprah can psychoanalyze everything and everyone under the sun, surely we can turn the tables on her.

You know it is said that true generosity is done anonymously. For the sake of helping others, and not self-aggrandizement.

Frank Sinatra gave millions to causes and individuals, with the condition the infomation would not become public.
Only after he died, did his friends reveal this about him. He was satisfied that he could help. He didn't have the need to claim credit.

Your points about the innocent are so true. And I guess the ONLY "protecting children" thing Obama is for is for protecting HIS daughters from being 'punished' with a baby should they get pregnant and don't WANT it.

This is getting to be a difficult world to stay sane in; the hypocrisy and pandering to the darker and (lately) more popular side of human nature is scary!

thanks. xx

From Z's pal "ME!":

"It is sad to see how she uses her fame and fortune to manipulate her viewers. Why doesn't she use this same "power" for good? I have always asked myself, instead of going to Africa and building schools, why not do it for all the poor homeless American children? Not that the children in Africa or any other place do not deserve help, but, what about our people? our children? sometimes we focus so much on helping other countries that we forget out Jane, John and Sue who's parents lost a job and can't send them to the dentist or even feed them.

I hope and pray that one day, some how, there will be a serious wake up call for all of these self centered people, some one should tell them, "Want to make a difference? Well then stop talking garbage, and go help the poor family down the street with a decent job." Look at Dolly Parton, despite her crazy appearance, she has a wonderful literacy program. If you want to do something, do something that will make a positive difference. Start by asking yourself.. “Where’s my kid right now?"

Funny, I never watched Oprah all these years except maybe a snippet in passing. I'd heard years ago that she pushes New Age religion, and I'd had enough of that in the 70s when it seemed that all my friends got into some Eastern religion and other oddball stuff.

It's only since she got so aggressive about it, about this New Age stuff, this Course in Miracles and A New Earth and The Secret stuff, that I thought it might be good to be armed with some knowledge about what she's up to so I now watch her show occasionally.

Boy, she certainly IS into herself, as so many have said here, people have said to me in emails. She really thinks she's got a "calling" to save the world, no kidding, she said that in so many words, and the sad thing is she's in a position with her money and popularity to do a lot of damage, uh, of course I mean good.

The Christians here probably have no doubt, as I don't, what the ultimate source of her power is. If she were a genuine Christian, she would never have gotten into this position, but the devil takes care of his own. We are truly in the last days and unfortunately it does look to me like she does have what may fairly be called a very a big role to play, just as she herself feels she does. Unlike many of you, I actually like her and even feel sorry for her because she is so deceived and she's got a terrible eternity ahead of her. I even felt that way watching that couple yesterday. They have no idea that they are pawns of the evil one.

This stuff Oprah is pushing goes back to the satanists and spiritualists of the 19th century. Their true believers have concocted a worldview that they've honed to appeal to masses of people. Of course the MAIN part of it is the denigration of the true God and His Law.

Yes, Pati, WE are the evil ones, the ignorant backward inhumane ones now. They don't want us raising our own children. They want all recognition of the true God wiped off the planet. Eventually, pretty soon probably, they will have the power to enforce their intent.

CJ said...

Man oh man. That link to the video you posted got me watching a whole bunch of stuff about Oprah, in fact the first five videos posted at You Tube from her Eckhart Tolle webclass. On this one, the fifth, starting a bit past the middle, she talks about how she asked God to make her a servant, to use her. SO sad, since she has given up on the true God and the answer she gets isn't going to come from Him for that reason.

All Tolle teaches is a popularized version of some aspects of Buddhism but people don't know much about its origin and it just sounds new and exciting to them somehow. Watch your thoughts, step back from your thoughts, don't identify with your thoughts etc. And then the world becomes as new. Well, that is a psychological experience for sure, and it can be quite enthralling, but maybe it's really just a psychological trick because there's no substance in it, it merely distracts people from what matters. But it enthralls them with what seems like something new and exciting.

Anyway here's Oprah all full of her own mission from "God."

Plato, "Laws"

Let these then be laid down, both in law and in our discourse, as the regulations of laughable amusements which are generally called comedy. And, if any of the serious poets, as they are termed, who write tragedy, come to us and say-- 'O strangers, may we go to your city and country or may we not, and shall we bring with us our poetry--what is your will about these matters?'--how shall we answer the divine men? I think that our answer should be as follows: Best of strangers, we will say to them, we also according to our ability are tragic poets, and our tragedy is the best and noblest; for our whole state is an imitation of the best and noblest life, which we affirm to be indeed the very truth of tragedy. You are poets and we are poets, both makers of the same strains, rivals and antagonists in the noblest of dramas, which true law can alone perfect, as our hope is. Do not then suppose that we shall all in a moment allow you to erect your stage in the agora, or introduce the fair voices of your actors, speaking above our own, and permit you to harangue our women and children, and the common people, about our institutions, in language other than our own, and very often the opposite of our own. For a state would be mad which gave you this licence, until the magistrates had determined whether your poetry might be recited, and was fit for publication or not. Wherefore, O ye sons and scions of the softer Muses, first of all show your songs to the magistrates, and let them compare them with our own, and if they are the same or better we will give you a chorus; but if not, then, my friends, we cannot. Let these, then, be the customs ordained by law about all dances and the teaching of them, and let matters relating to slaves be separated from those relating to masters, if you do not object.

Z said...

FJ, I think the 'agora' is so messed up now they don't recognize a 'fair voice' when they see it.

FreeThinke would remind of these famous words, whenever we imagine we can retreat into isolationism as in days of old. The inference should be obvious in light of some of these discussions.

No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manner of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.

~ John Donne (1624)

Oprah has developed an incredibly huge ego since her first days on television. The humility she used to show is gone, gone, gone!

Sometimes I feel as if Oprah's followers are part of a cult--"The Cult of Oprah." Goes well with "The Cult of Obama."

AOW; there is no doubt that the two "O"s are in this together...and cults, yes. Her support of this 'Christian', Obama' is no coicidence, is it.

I heard a lefty pundit on TV this morning talking about how many come to Obama's gatherings, saying "they just want to SEE him, they just want to BE NEAR HIM!" you see the subtle message that sends Americans? "Oh, WOW!! RIGHT! he's SO GREAT people JUST WANT TO BE NEAR HIM!" I wonder why Elmer Gantry keeps coming to my mind!! :\

Obama is HUGE, Oprah is HUGE. Can we put all the blame on them?
nope

FT, can you tell me how NO MAN IS AN ISLAND fits in with this Oprah thing? I'm curious as to your thinking on it. thanks

About John Donne's famous lines:

I thought they would be self-explanatory, but maybe not.

What I meant was that every human being is part of all humanity–––a child of God–––even the most freakish and seemingly despicable.

It might be easier for those of us blest to live in middle and upper-class comfort in the United States to be able to keep our lifestyle to ourselves and not have to deal with the rest of the world, except when it amuses or amazes us, but I don't think we can. As the poet said, "I am involved in all mankind. . ."

"In so much as Ye have done it unto the least of these, my brethren, Ye have done it unto me."

May God forgive me if I sound self-righteous, but I feel quite strongly that the pathetic characters that inspired this thread are more to be pitied than despised.

It's been years since I saw anything that Oprah has done. I didn't even know she still HAD a TV show anymore to be honest, but from what I remember it is very difficult for me to see her as some sort of Apostle of Evil.

I've always seen her as The Great American Success Story–––The American Dream Fulfilled. There are far worse influences out there. The Nightly News and Hip-Hop Culture for starters. ;-)

Of course success of Oprah's sort and the tremendous wealth that accompanies it are enough to turn almost anyone's head. But it is the PUBLIC who makes would-be GODS of celebrities–––figures like Oprah can't do it all by themselves.

FT, I think it was obvious, too, and I don't think anybody despises these people, they do pity, them and here is the most important reason I said I published this whole deal:

The selling of this as NORMAL is hurtful and dangerous to any society. And this is what Oprah's intentions so frequently are...normalcy of things which most of Western culture feel isn't helpful to anybody, those acting out in these ways or those having to be tolerant of it while instructing their children there are more holy, more uplifting ways to live your life.

The reason I questioned Donne's piece is, while we're all in the sea of life, I like to think some people WILL remain 'islands' in and of themselves and their choices.

I pity these people, but I pity their offspring so much more.
