Gosh, there was nothing humorous about that interview - should be watched by all, so very heart-felt. And what occupation comprises the majority of big politicos - the legal field (and it was Seneca who cynically cited them the culprits in ancient Rome no less). It's been a feeding frenzy of greed, along with realtors, banks and underwriters too - and now they're talking about taking away the one remaining incentive to buying a home, since its appreciating value is gone for decades to come - the tax exemption on mortgage interest: http://volokh.com/2010/06/11/another-issue-where-barack-obama-and-i-agree-repealing-the-mortgage-interest-deduction/

Any end to the madness? Steve's short film should be an recurring advertisement during prime time tv.

He's absolutely correct Z!
That was less about China than it was a slam of our gangster government in DC.

Bribing the American people with our own money, that's exactly what's happening.

It's shameless, sinful, corrupt -- flat out WRONG!

Another reason to mark Saint Ronnie Raygun as a critical disaster.

So we get some dipstick Hollywood conservative to dump on Obama and problem solved. As long as you dump on D's your engaged in constructive dialog, right?

Start a couple wars, wet your pants and start blathering about peasants in Afghanistan threatening your "freedoms" and then whine about paying for it. We are a sorry people.

Who is that moron, anyway?

I do give him credit for pointing out the shortage of doctors and finally admitting that we have been denying access to care and effectively rationing. The right has been in denial of this for some time. But cheer up, the conservative administration handed private insurers a bundle. With lots of money in the private sector this should all get solved, right? The private sector is our savior.

I'm waiting for Froggy to log on and tell me the private sector and free markets never blunder. He's probably running Windows Vista.

Ducky says: the destruction of America is OK because it started under Republican administrations.

Patriotic Americans say: it has got to stop.

Ducky, let's stop blaming. Let's fix what is wrong. Deathcare will worsen our health care situation. It is 2700 pages of bumbling idiocy. That has to be straightened out. Anybody who thinks business is all evil doesn't understand who pays taxes to the government. Attacking and killing private business will stop all tax revenue. Then how will you pay for your precious government jobs.

You little rat.

1/ Individuals and companies do blunder in the free market. If they're not bailed out by corporate or individual socialists, they're supposed to learn from their mistakes however.
2/ The government blunders way more often due to the effect of the mediocrity of the collective.
3/ Governments and collectivist ideas dear to your heart little crappy Duck have killed more and created more issues in the history of the world than free individuals. Just study history a little better and little closer than your lightweight intellect want.
3/ I run Windows and Linux and Mac at home because you see, I'm in IT.

So go f--- yourself big dope.

But I loved your capitalist remark about being all trendy and sexy because Mr Ducky has a mac and an ipod touch.

I'm glad you're embracing great products by capitalistic companies. The Soviet Union sure couldn't produce those products. Could not even produce shoes the right away.

You're full of contradictions big moron.

Parasite!

Tom, thank goodness repealing that's never got far at all..that would be DISASTER.

Jingo, it's scary when an amazingly successful entrepreneur like Wynn is complimenting China over our government, but he knows......

FW....but, it's happening!!...

Ducky...again, we need to see things your way, or we're wrong...getting kinda dull.

Opus, how will they pay for gov't jobs is right. I guess the paychecks will be coming from CHINA? Get your mao jacket out.

FrogBurger....it's not worth the aggravation.

You're right Z. I'll stop. Back to ignoring this little amoeba like I used to. And now world cup time so less blog time :)

I didn’t realize Ronald Reagan was still alive, much less President of the United States. As I remarked yesterday, if Ducky is one thing —it is that he is consistent. As for this video, shoot the messenger, right? Frog and others have pointed out on so many occasions that Ducky typifies the communists in this country; he never has any solutions —only mindless banter … emphasizing mindless, of course. I have to chuckle every time I think that Ducky’s solution is … LOL … Barack Obama.

FB, the World Cup will be difficult for me...Mr. Z ADORED it. I've become a soccer fan, too, especially at this high level of playing, but...hard to watch.
I've just finally almost got used to watching the Lakers without him.

I know Z. Soccer can be boring at times. But gotta support the US team. I have my beautiful US jersey now that FrogBurgerette offered to me for my bday.

Opus, sorry, it's time to pronounce the Raygun movement a failure, admit that Clinton and Obama are simply state corporatists also and decide where we are going to go next.

That is unlikely with the noise we here and the aphorisms that pass for news. Yeah, I believe we are in deep trouble. Victims of comfort and we better snap out of it.

Ducky's here said...

Well mustang, I would first admit that the deregulation movement has been an utter failure and move to re-regulate.

Note that as much as you complain about him, Obama hasn't done that in any meaningful way.

BP has a terrible safety record yet they were rubber stamped for deep water drilling permits. Now, remind me when the deregulation movement started and just what do we do about the much more difficult problem of getting the money out of the political system.

We actually tried to take a few steps and my right wing brethren, led by Rush "Talent on Loan from Synthetic Morphine" Limbaugh started to media blitz that we were limiting the "free speech" of the likes of BP.

So while you're on the porch a the home reminiscing about "saving our freedom" with the invasion of Grenada you might want to look ver your laissez-faire wonderland and own your creation.

z, I am allowed to respond in kind to Froggy or do you run only one way censorship?

Steve Wynn for president! Too bad Ducky doesn't know who he is and why the Chinese wanted him as a partner.

Mark in MN

Z said...

Ducky, absolutely one way censorship. It's my blog and I agree with him.
I'm tired of your constant nastiness and insults and hate toward this country.

Mark, if Wynn were president, we wouldn't be selling our souls to China.

Mr. Z met with Wynn probably three times and found him demanding, kind and VERY smart on all levels.
He's also almost legally blind, or legally blind, I"m not sure which but that guy gets a LOT of credit.

I wish we could get a lot of businessmen together and fix this economy...not relying on a president with no experience and people like Geithner and his bunch who either don't know or don't care what they're doing.

Reagan inherited a mess from Carter. The economic trouble didn't originate with him. Why make a stink over his inability to single-handedly repair the cumulative damage?

Yeah, I believe we are in deep trouble. Victims of comfort and we better snap out of it.

Can't argue with the first statement. Most Americans will agree on that point. It's a difference in opinion on "what to do about it" that keeps people fighting.

Unfortunately, Ducky, we are not simply victims, but often, willing accomplices as the Fed has offered Americans helpful handouts at least since FDR (not a republican, btw) tried to prop up the economy with socialist-style govt aid.

Sadly, when people are panicked about what will happen "today", they become incredibly nearsighted and don't consider how their decisions might affect "tomorrow".

Z said...

Heather, you'd deem the Reagan government a failure?

Craig and Heather said...

Heather, you'd deem the Reagan government a failure?

I did not say Reagan was a failure.

I believe it is silly for Ducky to dump on the Reagan administration for not eliminating problems that existed before he took office.

Make sense?

Of course there's truth in those words. Though it's worth mentioning that they are as true today as they were 40-50+ years ago when you had folks like Goldwater, Rand, Mises, Rothbard, Von Hayek, et al. saying the same sorts of things.

Z said...

H, it's hard for me to separate Ducky's 'silliness'into categories! :-)... But, poor Heather, I keep reading you wrong! NOW I see you didn't mean the real FIRST SENTENCE you pasted from Ducky "sorry, it's time to pronounce the Raygun movement a failure,", thanks...I should have known better xxx

YOu know what cracks me up is how much store all of us put on destroying a president from the other party when congress is the group that really decides up or down....

Z said...

Soapster, I wish more people paid attention back then.
Congratulations on your political run..all the best!

Yes, I was quoting Ducky. He's very quotable, you know? ;)

No worries.

I've been misunderstood before and have done it enough times myself to know better than to get hot when someone else proves to be human :)

YOu know what cracks me up is how much store all of us put on destroying a president from the other party when congress is the group that really decides up or down....

Good point. It's easy to focus on the big flash of light and miss what goes on in the resulting shadows.

--------------

Whoa, don't count me in that grouping, z. I have been quite clear on my feelings for Clinton and Obama. Corporatists both and Clinton was the one that took the Raygun initiative and really caused inestimable damage.

You'll have to excuse me today. My two favorite podcasts are going off the air. The elderly gentleman who did the classical programming for WCRI passed away. His tastes were conservative but the program was impeccable. I'll miss it.
Aspen public radio is ending its classical podcast which was about the best anywhere, just superb. They ended with the Schubert Octet for Winds just to make it the more missed.
It was a financial decision. Its unfortunate that enough people weren't contributing.
It just makes the classical situation a little worse as it pretty much disappears in favor of Lady Ga-ga and Metallica. A real bummmer and I would submit an indication of a problem with markets controlling cultural content.

Z said...

Ducky, how do we reeducate people to appreciate that music?

I'm sorry for you...our best classical music station became country a few years ago but KUSC is still pretty good and you might want to try the internet...German classical radio is amazing.

Z said...

I don't have a clue who the guy in the video is, but he hit on a really important point concerning health care.

Control of frivolous lawsuits and unnecessary medical testing.

Before attempting a total takeover, our existing governmental system could certainly have come down hard on unethical medical practice, those who fraudulently attempt to cash in on the reality that there are some truly criminal "physicians", and the lawyers who play off of people's greed.
There also could have been an effort made to investigate individual insurance providers to be sure they were operating above board.

I realize Vegas is too far to the west from Boston, for Ducky to know anything about Las Vegas, and one of the most successful businessmen in the country.

If one doesn't live within his sphere of experience, that person doesn't exist.

Steve Wynn got where he did by understanding what it takes to be successful, grasping the fact that success or failure was a gamble, but he was smart as a whip, and free to take that risk. He made it.

Obama is trying to create a climate through government tyranny, where it will be very difficult for more "Steve Wynns" to make it in America in the future.

Time to climb out from under your rock Ducky, and take a look at the real world. Put away your fairy tale books, and join the land of the living. You might even enjoy it.

Pris

Ducky's here said...

Your right Pris, I hope we limit the number of Steve Wynns.

Right now Massachusetts is considering building 3 casinos, as if we don't have enough of the damn things in New England.

Low paying jobs, crime, gambling addiction and zombies pulling the arm of the slots. Yeah, ain't that America. Steve sounds like at heart he's really upset that the Vegas bubble was one of the worst in the nation.

Ducky's here said...

Yeah Pris, he's the one with the art collection that is almost exclusively French impressionist (showing a distinct lack of imagination) and a fake Vermeer.

Z said...

Oh, Ducky...you don't like the guy's taste in art and that's why you slam him?
Couldn't you come up with anything else?
The guy's a successful businessman who's helped Vegas grow and support an awful lot of WORKERS there, Ducky...I thought you LIKE THE WORKERS :-)
If he were SEIU, I"ll be you'd be lickin' his face

FrogBurger said...

Not a big fan of what Vegas represents but I admire people who can build an hotel empire. It's a tough industry with low margins where excellent service and quality are key. So it's always very impressive.

Never discount Ducky's dedication to the leftist demand that all leftists be recognized as imbeciles.

See here how he couples the leftist belief that the American government hijacked aircraft to kill its own citizens to justify going to war with Osama Bin Laden, a poor Afghan peasant who not once ever stole food out of a leftist intellectual like Sheryl Crow's mouth and threatened her freedom by downloading her music without paying for it with the leftist belief that increasing government deficits well over sixfold will improve the economy. Indeed, leftists are sorry people.

Ducky's reliable stupidity should be commended as the justification for dismissiog leftists from the market of rational thought that it is.

Oh my God Ducky, his art collection is French impressionist? Arrest him, string him up! This is unacceptable!

I'm laughing my head off here. Really Ducky, thanks for the laugh. Sometimes you just slay me!
