OBAMA SPEAKS IN BERLIN

So..........what'd you think of the speech? Got any quotes which REALLY bugged YOU, too? You go first. I'll be right there behind you...........
Let me start with a quip by wonderful political cartooonist Michael Ramirez: "Ich bin ein beginner." ya.

(and please read my post below (and the great comments), there might be some things you hadn't heard, particularly the UPDATES)

thanks, Priscilla, for the quote! Photo from Germany's FAZ

There is good news. His numbers in America are dropping.

Z said...

WHT, he said also something like "...when you TORE DOWN THIS WALL.." without giving credit to Reagan, who Germans so appreciate for all he did, even now. As if they TORE DOWN THIS WALL singlehandedly.

Shoprat, they're saying Obama's had NO bump up in the polls from this trip. I think Americans don't admire somebody'd who'd diss the troops for a workout in the gym. AND more, of course.
You've got to think even libs would be saying "Man, what is this guy DOING? Does he think he's PRESIDENT OF THE WORLD?" (as my dear friend Kathy just suggested in an email!) She's right....

I guess if you can be 'citizen of the world' (a really horrid phrase from the speech I hated as it conjures up a kind of icky non-sovereignty feeling to me), you can be PRESIDENT of the World, too?!

This guy's gonna get THUMPED in the general election. Wait til the majority of the American people connect the dots between the Dems/Obama and the gas price problems. In one fell swoop the Dems will seal their own defeat at the ballot box, and Obama's going down.

Morgan..who's going to TELL THEM!!??

Well the MSM certainly won't without a fight! I posted a rant about energy and leftist idiocy at FPM. Read it if you want a chuckle! I do think the truth of what the Dems are doing to this country will eventually shine through before the election.

Did he really say, "Ich bin ein Fruchtkuchen mit schwarzen Nüssen"????

Yeah ... he'll make a great president.

Help me out Mustang. What's a Nussen? :-)

I'm wondering why his speech was in English. He was in Germany, right? Shouldn't he have spoken German?

Z said...

Um..I think we need to leave the schwarzen nussen alone, folks!! (literally and figuratively!) HA!!

Dr. John? Imagine? He wants US to learn a foreign language for a 2 week vacation but doesn't want Hispanics who come in illegally to have to learn English to LIVE HERE.

the fun never stops!! I'm just tired of having him try to make us ashamed; of our cars, of our carbon footprint, of our lightbulbs, of our language...

of our country.
Today, he vehemently said I LOVE AMERICA and OH, I'd LOVE him to show me he understands the constitution, honors it, and maybe even gives some specifics of WHAT he loves about America.

What do you want to bet it'll be TSUNAMI RELIEF?

Beamish! HOW THE HECK can I tell you how FUNNY AND SMART I think you are without sounding like a NUT?!

(too late!)

A chocolate jelly donut......sublime.
But, with him it would be chocolate on the outside and LIMA BEAN JELLY on the inside! HORRID flavor and completely
indigestible

nanc said...

wonder what the obamaprompter was telling him?

nanc said...

z - with beamish, you'll probably have to appeal to his baser "fried okra" instincts - oh yeah and the fact that a REAL hamburger is not real unless you put some lousyanna hotsauce on it...we've probably got him off blushin' somewhere now...WHO DOESN'T LOVE BEAMISH???

I really couldn't stomache the speech. But from what the clips have shown, the crowd didn't seem THAT mesmerized to me. The applause was faint. I hated the "global citizen" line...and the poverty schmoverty stuff. I think americans are seeing an arrogant global leader ready to take the glory for taking our money and distributing it as if he were king. It is all so disturbing. :)N

I saw a bit of this earlier on the TV. One supporter in Germany was ecstatic because Obama sounded like a global citizen. This implied a certain hope in Europe because of Obama, a hope that things would be better for the world if Obama got elected.

Another thing i noticed about Europe and their constant whining about America, they and the democrats want America to become more like Europe, which is all well and good.

Assume this is all correct, that Obama is a genuine fellow and can actually make the world a better place, that America becoming like Europe is a good thing for the whole world. Let's assume this.

I also saw a story about that basket ball player Yao Ming, the product of communist China.

What i find perplexing is that it's escaped these people around the world that Yao Ming, product of Communism has to go to capitalist America to make millions and a name for himself. Why is it that post-modern, secular, socialist Europe cannot produce a Barack Obama to save the world, to unite us?

Why do they have to look to capitalist, non-socialist, gun-toting, capital-punishment, no cradle-to-grave-welfare, bible-thumping America to make the world a better place?

Perhaps these questions are not asked because the answers are too uncomfortable to bear.

I was a political junkie until Obama came along. I have heard enough. I can't stand to listen to the inane piffle that comes out of his mouth any longer.

When the Dixie Chicks went overseas and bad-mouthed America in another country their entire careers were over in a heartbeat and have only received radio play on the coasts. When Obama goes overseas and bad-mouths America, shouldn't we have the same response? I need a FUBO t-shirt really bad!!!

Papa Frank said...

Barack Obama -- we don't want your socialism and we don't want your national police. We don't want your social medical care and we don't want you to redistribute our hard earned wages as YOU see fit. We don't want your global warming lies and we don't want the racist religious instruction you've received and tolerated. We don't want everyone to learn other languages and for God-sake WE DON'T WANT TO BE EUROPE!!!

Chuck said...

I'm confused, why are you guys talking about this being a campaign swing? Obama's spokespeople keep calling it a presidential visit. lol

My new favorite quote is from Charles Krauthammer on Brit Hume's Special Report on Wednesday. Naturally delivered with his dry humor.

"You know, he's always unerring, as befits a man whose treatment by the press is not presidential but papal. He thinks of himself infallible. I wouldn't be surprised if in Berlin tomorrow he holds not a rally, but a mass."

Brooke said...

"I know my country has not perfected itself. At times, we've struggled to keep the promise of liberty and equality for all of our people. We've made our share of mistakes, and there are times when our actions around the world have not lived up to our best intentions."

Excuse me?!? How DARE he?!? FROM GERMANY?!?

I guess liberating Europe from the Nazis wasn't living up to whatever the hell he's talking about?

Brooke said...

Oops, forgot to sign in.

The whole thing pisses me off, but here's another:

"The fall of the Berlin Wall brought new hope. But that very closeness has given rise to new dangers -- dangers that cannot be contained within the borders of a country or by the distance of an ocean.ÊÊ

The terrorists of September 11th plotted in Hamburg and trained in Kandahar and Karachi before killing thousands from all over the globe on American soil.Ê

As we speak, cars in Boston and factories in Beijing are melting the ice caps in the Arctic, shrinking coastlines in the Atlantic, and bringing drought to farms from Kansas to Kenya.

Poorly secured nuclear material in the former Soviet Union, or secrets from a scientist in Pakistan could help build a bomb that detonates in Paris. The poppies in Afghanistan become the heroin in Berlin. The poverty and violence in Somalia breeds the terror of tomorrow. The genocide in Darfur shames the conscience of us all.
"

Got that, Boston? You driving your cars to the grocery store is as bad as terrorists, nukes, and genocide in Darfur!

I can't take it, Z...

"This is the moment when we must build on the wealth that open markets have created, and share its benefits more equitably. Trade has been a cornerstone of our growth and global development. But we will not be able to sustain this growth if it favors the few, and not the many. Together, we must forge trade that truly rewards the work that creates wealth, with meaningful protections for our people and our planet. This is the moment for trade that is free and fair for all."

Um, PAGING KARL MARX...

That is COMMUNISM, dammit!

Z said...

MK..excellent point, but I firmly believe the world does not HONOR those who do well anymore...more important to cure the world of all that grieves it. I believe our socialist profs in this country have made it almost impossible for young Americans to want to STRIVE, which is a good thing since our elementary school levels are teaching them to win is wrong; awards ceremonies inviting only the winners, baseball games with no score but rather 10 minutes per inning....and more; All so nobody's feelings are hurt.

CUBE! If you only knew how MANY people I"ve heard say that. Priscilla here at geeeZ emailed me that her husband couldn't watch the speech. Mr Z can't LISTEN to the guy anymore...and others..People are TIRED. You can't have a brain and listen to him and process; there's no 'there there'.

Pops....SEND ME ONE, TOO!!

Chuck, not to be sacrireligious but one does get the sense we should kiss his ring. The man has an ego on him that, somehow, the troubled and 'conflicted' childhoood he had didn't mar in ANY way, huh?

Brooke: TOTAL COMMUNISM (no matter what Ducky thinks) and that Boston line screamed out at me, too. And, did you see how much time he spent explaining WWII as if Europe's (especially Germany) not well aware? I was ALMOST embarrassed for him during that history lecture.

How about "when my father applied for a visa TO THE WEST" Can't he bring himself to say AMERICA? He applied to AMERICA!!

Aren't you just TIRED OF BEING SPANKED BY OBAMA? Man, CAN AMERICA DO ANYTHING WRONG?

Z said...

I mean RIGHT!! OOPS!!!
the answer to my question above is "NO!" HAA!

Brooke said...

Z, I know! My first thought was, "As if they don't know this stuff..."

Ducky's here said...

HE DIDN'T WEAR A FLAG PIN?

DO YOU BELIEVE IT? HE DIDN'T WEAR A FLAG PIN?

Although I can understand why Europeans appreciate him rather than shallow Americans. Reagan ended Communism. Europeans know that we can be thankful Brezhnev died because he was going to get into it with St. Ronnie. We are very fortunate he died when he did.

Then we as Americans pee all over everyone in Eastern Europe who was encouraged to resist by JFK and did and paid the price. People resisted in Russia also but who takes the credit? Right wing Americans who think sacrifice means paying $4.00 for gas. I think the Europeans were just happy to listen to someone who has at least a basic understanding of history and doesn't think the world began and ended with Ronnie Raygun and his rotting brain tissue.

Well the good news is that he has Candidate McCheese cutting ribbons at shopping center openings for all anyone knows. McCain is toast.

Z said...

Ducky, I live with a European..a German. YOu are so off base with your guessing of how Europeans see Ronald Reagan. BOY, do you have that wrong. They admire him till this day and I couldn't help laughing when I heard Obama use those words "TORE DOWN THIS WALL" (Sound familiar?)..ya, he invoked Reagan/America's greatness WITHOUT mentioning Reagan, which the German press mentioned with derision. This guy Obama is JUST RIGHT for the Left, isn't he? When a Republican does good, mention WHAT the good was but not WHO it was!? As if GERMANS DON'T KNOW?

I cringed as I heard his long history dissertation. They don't need to be taught their history.
Europeans, especially Germans, TRUST me, and I'll be posting an article BY German journalists and politicians hopefully later on today to straighten you out. Some of them actually fell for the BIG GLOBAL WORLD BS...but, mostly, only
those still in office!! Those out of office, with nothing to lose, BLASTED OBAMA!!!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but don't spew your anti-American hypotheses here, Ducky. We know the truth and it won't fly.

I have to admit I saw just a few snippets here there, that's all I can stomach, and it didn't really matter where I looked he was on ever news channel!

I hope that all U.S. citizens, especially his groupies, will see how he intentially dissed our troops. That does not fly with me!

No one does that to our American troops.

I don't have a quote, because everything he said is a bunch of bologna.

Anonymous said...

Hey Duckster, boy do you guys EVER have a problem! The messiah Barack is getting the greatest press treatment I've EVER see and still the polls are even.

Johnny-boy has people in his base who hate his liberal guts, he CAN'T buy an interview, he can't get the NYT's to even PRETEND at fair treatment, he faces a young, vibrant leftist who is perceived as walking on water--

AND STILL the polls have a dead heat!!!!! Imagine how bad the massacre will be when they debate? This is going to be a landslide unless McAmnesty gets caught ferrying wetbacks himself or gets caught with John Edwards' mistress!!

Morgan.....oy, do you nail it!

Obama is rallying the masses. Pure demagoguery! 1930s alert!

I'm right back where I was with Billy Boy Clinton. I would start out listening, then walk out after ten minutes, fuming. Pure garbage, total ego. I can't stomach it. Makes me puke in my mouth.

Ducky, that rotting brain tissue comment was ugly.

Obama will lose in November. I'm giddy about it.

Oh, and I'm hearing Morgan loud and clear. ditto all.

Pinky..Ducky also slams McCane for his cheeks..the bigger one having been caused by a serious skin cancer.

I don't get this thinking. it's inhumane.

Thanks! I think everyone is worried too much about this young fool. He would certainly be a disastrous President. The MSM will find it more and more difficult to hide his rookie mistakes from the masses and it will become clear before the general election. This is McCain's to lose. McCain's gonna take 40 states.

What's with the hordes in Berlin.. not that it matters and thankfully, per your other post, the politicians aren't so enamored. Then again, what's with the stupid hordes here, who are so undiscerning they'll believe anything that comes out of Obama's lying mouth.

Speaking of global citizenry, I think Mr. Obama's little global poverty bill is going to the senate now.

You know the one, where every American will need taxes raised to send around the world to help the poor.

I am sure when the Constitution was written this was exactly what the founding fathers had in mind for future generations...global citizenry .

Z said...

We are supposed to fix global poverty, huh?

I wonder if he considers that we've still got poverty here? That might be nice.....I'm just sayin'...

I just want to straighten one subject out: The people in Berlin always look for a happening, doesn't matter whether it is an act on the high rope, an ice bear or an exotic politician from a far away country. The weather was excellent, the carriages with beer and sausages were around (not free!), let's get some excitement.

For the presentation of the German soccer team recently (after they won second place in the European championships) more than 500,000 showed up at that very location in the middle of the afternoon. And when the German team played during the evening, it was more than 1 million (a TRUE million, I might add).

So, what's the big deal? The American MSM don't understand that, 50,000 people at one place in the U.S. would very likely end up in fights and chaos.
