More thoughts on Palin.......

FIRST: By now you all know that Sarah Palin's teleprompter wasn't working correctly last night. Sorry I can't link but none of the Google sites would open; I think they're over the top with hits, probably. (or Google doesn't want you to know the details because this made her look so smart!?) From what I heard from one of her handlers, before the speech, Palin asked if she'd have notes up there and they said she would but they forgot them and it took Sarah's asking them, minutes before the speech, for them to GET her a copy. Good thing Palin felt she needed to be better prepared because the teleprompted didn't work for the first part of the speech and then apparently was too far ahead of her, or behind, I didn't hear that detail (it didn't work for Giulliani, either, by the way). Laura Ingraham's saying she'd memorized the speech, but that would be SUCH a stretch for ME that I can't even imagine that; let me know if YOU hear anything about that.
UPDATE: From Wordsmith (thanks!). Check this excellent piece out, by Curt, at Flopping Aces ....on the teleprompter subject.
SECONDLY: I was trying to figure out how I could (again) tell you that your pal, Z, cried during a political event. I was weepy during McCain's answers at Saddleback because I realized he's a far better man than I'd thought he was. I got weepy when Sarah was nominated by McCain Friday morning, and I got a little weepy when Sarah spoke last night, when I saw her authenticity, her savvy, her poise and intelligence, a REAL breath of fresh air in politics! I thought "You can't tell your friends this, they'll think you're a NUT!"

But, Dennis Prager's on the radio now telling his whole audience that HE got tears in his eyes for the first time ever over politics and actually found himself waving back (for the very first time at any event) at Sarah's general wave to the crowd. A Brit is now calling in from England telling Dennis that it's all over the British papers, what a success it was! (Mr. Z tells me Germans are totally impressed by Palin's speech, too. ). The Brit is saying the speech was "Churchillian" and that she's "very like Thatcher." He's saying he keeps hearing how our economy is in trouble..but theirs is the terrible one: "after 12 years of socialism, our UK growth rate is 0." He added "We're in terrible big trouble......our economy's ruined by people like your Obama." Dennis is bemoaning the fact that "the human being wants security more than liberty until he gets the ramifications of that." Not THIS human being, folks.

THIRDLY: Remember the woman named Harriet Christian , the Hillary supporter who got such fame when she was so angry at the Dems for being sexist to Hillary Clinton? You all heard her gravely voice on radio and TV SO furiously explaining how angry she was? I just now heard her condemn the Left (her Left) for acting like they are to Palin and that she, and she estimates 5 million other Hillary supporters, will be working for and voting for McCain now. (good job, Ducky, keep it up!)
How do you feel about O'Reilly getting Obama on TONIGHT of all nights? O'Reilly says "I really wanted him on, I had to, and this is the only night they could make it." Imagine? And THAT wasn't planned by Obama, to go on O'Reilly with his huge following the night of McCain's speech? Thankfully, most viewers know Obama enough by now they don't need to see him again and they'll be eager to hear McCain.

Any musings of your own? Teary, anybody!? Any bits and pieces you're hearing or feeling that you'd like to share? I hope so. If I can admit I CRY here, YOU can... (I won't tell ANYBODY!)

Did she actually touch on policy other than her commitment to oil drilling?

The speech was to introduce her to America; her first big speech.
She did mention lowering taxes, talking to Iran with no preconditions, protecting special needs children and other things, I can't remember them all. Sorry you can't, either.

America got to know her and they're nuts about her....that was good enough for an introduction speech.

BTW Mr. Duck, VPs don't set policy, sir. But you already knew that.

I cried, but I cry a lot. My spouse always hands me his hanky at all the right moments. I have to say that at one point last night I reached for it and he was using it to wipe his eyes. We did not discuss that.

We are both very excited about the McCain/Palin ticket. We are surprised by this excitement and cannot wait for her to debate Biden.

We cannot wait to listen to McCain tonight. I'm sure he'll be able to touch on the policies that are causing Ducky such stress. Poor little anonymous Ducky, hiding behind his hit-and-run act. I would love to read and comment on his blog but it is "private".

Maybe Big Blowhard Dufus Biden should think about plagiarizing from Barack's teleprompter. At least then they'd be on the same page.

"You said, 'I think he can be ready, but right now, I don't think he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training,'" Stephanopoulos says in the ad's debate clip.

"I think I stand by that statement," Biden replies.

that way when he's asked again he can say

um uh um uh.....wait...I can't hear myself...um

My husband and I watched the Rudy and Palin speeches.
We loved how Rudy brought up the lack of calling things by their proper names..like RADICAL ISLAMIC TERRORISTS.

Oh and by the way, the vp does not set policy, she helps enforce it.

But Iron PRINCESS( Maggie was the Iron Lady so I will call Sarah the PRINCESS) did inform the public they would have a friend and advocate for the special needs people and children in the white house.

I hope that suffices for some people hollering about issues.

Seems Miss Sarah knows a thing or two about Russia, but then , they are HER neighbors.

And yep, husband and I both giggled with Sara's youngest daughter washing her baby brother's hair.//cat style.

Quack ,quack.

Thatcher Reagan, indeed.

Hi, GRANNY! Good wife there in not commenting on Mr. Annie's tears...I know the feeling! (it's kinda nice, isn't it?!) We all need Kleenex passers! I'm so excited, too!

Elbro: HAAA~!! Imagine Obama with no teleprompter? There was the time he got lost when trying to wing it and turned to the people behind him and said "Now don't distract me" or something like that! You have to laugh..BLAME THEM (well, they WERE White, so that's okay..what else is new?)
\
Liberals don't do well off notes because they don't REALLY have a grasp; it's all platitudes and then you must memorize. Thinkers can speak extemporaneously (even if I can't SPELL it?!) because they know their subject and can just keep on going..as did Giulliani AND PALIN!

cj..GREAT, isn't it?

WV..."Iron Princess" is perfect, considering Sarah translates to PRINCESS!

Ya, she mentioned care for children with special needs AND, as I said, lower taxes, and energy of all sorts, and not going to talk to dictators who hate us without preconditions....... she sure did mention policy.

Giulliani had SUCH good lines...amazing stuff.

Hey, guys; Did TERROR or AL QAE DA or ISL AMISTS ever get mentioned in the DNC speeches?

Z said...

I feel compelled to say that it is a shame that no one here (so far as I could see) has mentioned how absolutely great RUDY GIULIANI was last night?

The nation has missed a bet by not taking Mayor G. more seriously. He's a FABULOUS guy. The confidence, energy and enthusiasm that emanates from him is completely genuine. He is DYNAMISM personified, and a real stand-up guy in a crisis, who has never been the least bit afraid of doing the right thing, because it might make him unpopular.

Giuliani was a class mate of one of my cousins at college. My cousin is a very staunch, old-fashioned Roman Catholic and an arch-conservative if ever there was one, but HE doesn't like Mayor G., because –––– ta ta ta TA ta TA! –––– he's dishonored the Catholic faith by getting a divorce and being friendly towards gays.

My cousin is a fine upstanding family man with an excellent record of solid achievement to his credit. I love and respect him, but have to say aside from his many terrific qualities he's also a self-defeating BIGOT.

We could LOSE this election because of people like my cousin.

Thank GOD for The Divine Sarah–––our new role model for womankind.

I watched it with two family Democrats... who were as impacted by her poignant words (and her history that they had uncovered about her in their own curiosity research) as I was.

Their reaction was similar, too. I want to see this ticket win! They plan to enthusiastically vote for McCain/Palin now... after previously endorsing the BamBam.

On the rock 'n roll radio station this morning during the drive to my biz, the lib hosts were all dejected because almost every one of their callers were solidly now in the Republican corner. Why? Almost universally... "Because she embodies my own spirit as a person from 'Regularville'".

Her policy commitments are a matter of record, but you'd have to be interested enough to find out who was speaking before you... research, examine and weigh their past... to know and understand this. The floor of any national party's convention isn't (and never has been) the place for that type of detailed presentation. But her very impressive record is certainly there, just like any candidate in history... if you get over your own lethargy and seek to inform yourself of it. For a certain number of intentionally blind folks, that will be too much to ask.

Most of us, however, will eagerly look for it. Isn't this a welcome sun rising? Great write, Z!

Sarah's speech was awesome, Z, and so is your excellent post. Shame on Ducky for trying to spoil your elation. Of course neither he or anyone else can do that, but they sure do try.

To the "anonymous" who says no one here mentioned Giuliani's speech, it is because Giuliani isn't running for anything. Last night was Sarah Palin's night. Hers and hers alone! Rudy made a great speech, but it wasn't the one everyone was waiting for.

It's obvious to anyone who is honest that Sarah is exactly who she says she is, and will make a formidable opponent against Biden during the debate in October.

Imus is voting for McCain now, too...just announced.

it's getting better and better.

Ducky..that's your clue to make some ridiculous and unmeaningful remark abuot Don and Ho's...have fun.......

Anonymous said...

Hi all,
I just want to echo what all of you said (except Ducky of course), and say WOW!

Z, I didn't cry but, I jumped up out of my chair and yelled YES! several times. Does that count?

I think if you tear up because you're full of emotion that's a good thing. I was so stoked it just pushed a different button.

One of the things this candidate, Palin, has exposed is that the feminist movement is a myth. Gloria Steinem said today that Palin is "the wrong woman".

Gee, when these few unfulfilled women began their crusade, did they tell us there was such a thing as a "wrong woman"? Why, I don't believe they did. Today they're telling us that Sarah Palin should be home taking care of her children. Huh?

They're even attacking a 17 year old girl.

This has never been about women's rights. This has been a man-hating, left wing agenda to discredit traditional American culture and values.

While I didn't go along or jump on the bandwagon, I have been forced to accept this is the way it is. So, now after all this, don't you dare tell us, you liberal ladies, that "we take it back". "We didn't mean conservative, family values women".

Too late. It's done, and we have a new star and she's a conservative. Read it and weep, Ms. Steinem, you asked for it, you got it.

Here's my (rather reserved) reaction to Sarah's debut, written to a liberal earlier, who said, he "had to admit" Mrs. Palin was "quite attractive." O hope you find it amusing:exqqdxln

Yup! that woman is still HOT. Amazing after having had FIVE children. Old Mrs. Kennedy, Matriarch of Satan's Brood, the Hibernians of Hyannisport, who lived to be 104, said, "When I was young, women were always expected to go up a full dress size after each pregnancy."

How times have changed! WOW!

The Divine Sarah Palin, America's NEW WOMAN, Exploder of Liberal Myths, Exposer of Liberal Hypocrisy and Annihilator of Liberal Shibboleths. She stares 'em down and laughs right into the barrels of their guns.

Hail Sarah, full of Grace! Blessed art Thou, and blessed be the fruit of thy heart and mind forever.

BWAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

The Liberal Pot boileth over, and no one in their camp knows how to clean up the mess they're making. They're too busy running the International Denigration Derby and Telling Others What's Good For Them to bother wiping their own butts let alone keep their houses from catching fire.

I'm giddy with unholy joy at the spectacle.

Wait till they tell us Sarah is really queer for caribou, and drinks crude oil at cocktail time, while eating raw Eskimo liver canapes. Wait till they tell us about the four-headed fetus with green scales and horns she aborted with a rusty kitchen knife thirty years ago after she got pregnant by her father. Wait till they tell us how she stole MILLIONS from the Alaskan treasury and set up a chain of brothels in Bombay with the money. Wait . . . Oh this is RICH. I'm hysterical with laughter. I may crack a rib before the night is over.

I'm going straight over the Edge.

"I just now heard her condemn the Left (her Left) for acting like they are to Palin and that she, and she estimates 5 million other Hillary supporters, will be working for and voting for McCain now."

At last the penny drops for some of the feminists who think the left is on their side.

I heard some of the previous speeches by Romney & Giuliani [he creamed Obama] and saw her on the evening news down here, i was shocked that they even showed her, usually with the scumbag media, it's only Obama, Obama and some old guy somewhere doing something. I need to find out a bit more about McCain, i didn't know that he couldn't raise his arms because of what happened in Vietnam. Military man who went through that type of hell for his country easily gets into my good books, someone i could trust. Seems like Palin has kicked her way into the spotlight and enraged the liberal establishment to no end, warms my heart that.

I'll try and find her speech somewhere on the net, i'm sure i will, one of the things i've noted of late is that there is a dramatic change in the blogosphere alone since Palin was picked, we've all moved on from pointing out flaws in Obama and banging on about him to Palin, it's almost as if we don't care about Obama anymore, he can prance and pose and prattle on about change and whatever else, we're just not listening. Heck even his own camp is scrambling and focusing on Palin, desperate to find something, anything .... screw it, just outright lie about her to bring her down. We've moved on from Obamania, i believe it's called confidence, and that's a good thing. Yeehaw!

Never mind the tears Z. Big Bubba is ready to call the election. Put a fork in Obama he's done. I have never in my life seen goings on comparable to the pseudo intellectual progressive liberal demoracists coming right off their wheels after the Palin announcement. That is exactly what the Obama campaign will become until election day - a whine fest, oops, forgot something - a cheesy, whine fest.
