Beheading Sarah Palin...?

Have you seen this?   HERE is the article associated with it.

Open letter to MCT (Missoula, Montana CHILDREN'S Theater)director Curt Olds:
First I would like to compliment you and the entire staff of "The Mikado" on the beautiful sets, costuming and professional performance we experienced on Sunday, Jan. 23. However, I must call you on something that was inserted into the play which I am almost positive was not in the original book.
The comments made in such a cavalier and oh-so-humorous way were uncalled for. Now, I realize you play to a mostly liberal audience in Missoula and so, I am sure, felt comfortable in your calling for the beheading of Sarah Palin. I am painfully aware that most in the audience tittered with laughter and clapped because "no one would miss her" but there were some in your audience who took great offense to this "uncivil tone" about another human being.
We are in the midst of a crisis that took place in Tucson where many started pointing fingers at that horrible right wing with all their hatred and targeting and standing for the second amendment and on and on and on. So, here we are in a lovely play with beautiful voices serenading us and we have to hear that it is okay to call for the killing of Sarah Palin because we don't like her and no one would miss her. Unbelievable.
As a professional you should be ashamed of yourself, the audience should be ashamed of themselves and I am ashamed of myself for not standing up and leaving at that very moment. I would like to see an apology from you not because I want to hinder free-speech but for the hypocrisy this so clearly shows.

25 ARRESTED at Conservative Meeting....uhoh!

HERE is an article for which YAHOO created this headline:

25 arrested at California conservative meeting

What did I think when I opened my homepage this morning and saw that headline? I thought "Wow, 25 Conservatives did WHAT at a meeting which would get them arrested, and oh, BROTHER, the media will LOVE this....let me click on the link and see what happened".........

Well, it turns out, if you read the link, you'll see the "25 arrested" were OUTSIDE the meeting, protesting the meeting...............Here is the last sentence of the article I linked above "Sunday was the second day of the four-day conclave. It was organized by brothers David and Charles Koch, who have funded the fight against global warming laws and have financial ties to tea party groups."

How did YOU read that headline above?   Didn't you think it was Conservatives arrested, too?

Media, lies, and connecting dots.....

Isn't THIS just precious?  "Republicans aren't working on jobs, they're going against campaign promises!" Do you all get why the Democrats say these things?  People BELIEVE IT...IT SELLS, IT GETS READ... readers of these misrepresentations vote.  It matters not what truth is, it matters that the media and the Democrats can spin a headline and keep it out there in the public for a long time...you know that, especially if you read this blog!  People want JOBS and Republicans promised  jobs, so, because the Republicans have the nerve to focus on other important things right now, along with JOBS, the Democrats have found a way to chip at the November election success of the Republicans, and Yahoo and AP and every other liberal media type loves it and plays it up.  If Boehner mentions abortion, he's taking his eye off jobs...?  Does that make sense to you?

Follow me here: Yahoo's homepage holds headlines which make Republicans look bad about 3 times longer than "China may have another earthquake" or "Giffords' husband to decide on Space flight..."   Yahoo, since YESTERDAY, has carried "Cuts to Elder Care Might Cost State" on the California homepage....get it?  More than twenty-four HOURS, they've left that headlined so more people can see it and weep....other more important headlines come and go every few hours, but let Californians see how cuts (proposed by Republicans and any other thinking Americans) might COST THE STATE and that headline STAYS because the media likes it.......I'll let you know when that headline disappears.   Let me know when pigs are flying.  But, I digress.

Yes, the Dems are now ALL over how the REPUBLICANS, WHO RAN ON JOBS IN NOVEMBER, now don't CARE about JOBS because they're focusing on Health Care, Abortion, etc.   Of course, Republicans CAN multitask and address varying subjects at the same time, and they've shown how improving the Health Care bill (or chucking it) WILL save jobs but, again, I digress with facts and common sense and I hate to confuse my Democrats here :-)

Heck, even AP agrees with me (don't know if I should be pleased about that or nauseous):  "Democrats are pouncing. Each day, they echo the taunt that Republicans used in the November elections: You're not doing enough to create jobs."    They had TWO YEARS and the Republicans have had TWO MONTHS...how many of you think Americans who read these things connect those dots?

Here is one of the reader comments on the article: "the gop,tea party, republican and the weeping house leader just lied to crash into the house.they don`t have nothing in their hand, but they do have a good paying job, thank`s to the people who got fooled on elaction day november 2 2010."     And I'll just bet he voted.   God help us.  He'll probably want to elAct Obama agin cuz he's a voter who.cain't be fooled.

What do YOU think?  What would be a better way for Republicans to be addressing JOBS?  I'd really like to know.   And, what happened to those SHOVEL READY JOBS the stimulus packages were to provide?  There's thirty feet of road up near Mulholland Drive that has a sign nearby which, I think, infers the money to tar it is from the stimulus, but ... is that enough? :-)

Sunday Faith Blog......

As most of you know by now, I always like to do a Sunday Faith Blog that, I hope, grounds us and gives us some kind of hope in this nuts world, and maybe helps in our daily lives.   Please come back for hard-hitting politics and culture Monday through Saturday.........just because we're soft on Sunday doesn't mean we don't hit it hard the rest of the week!!   Thanks...Z  :-)   Here's a nice one I got via email:

It had been some time since Jack had seen the old man. College, girls, career, and life itself got in the way. In fact, Jack moved clear across the country in pursuit of his dreams.

There, in the rush of his busy life, Jack had little time to think about the past and often no time to spend with his wife and son. He was working on his future, and nothing could stop him.

Over the phone, his mother told him, "Mr. Belser died last night The funeral is Wednesday." Memories flashed through his mind like an old newsreel as he sat quietly remembering his childhood days.

"Jack, did you
 hear me?"

"Oh, sorry, Mom. Yes, I heard you. It's been so long since I thought of him. I'm sorry, but I honestly thought he died years ago," Jack said.

"Well, he didn't forget you. Every time I saw him he'd ask how you were doing. He'd reminisce about the many days you spent over 'his side of the fence' as he put it," Mom told him.

"I loved that old house he lived in," Jack said.

"You know, Jack, after your father died, Mr. Belser stepped in to make sure you had a man's influence in your life," she said

"He's the one who taught me carpentry," he said. "I wouldn't be in this business if it weren't for
him. He spent a lot of time teaching me things he thought were important...Mom, I'll be there for the funeral," Jack said.

As busy as he was, he kept his word. Jack caught the next flight to his hometown. Mr. Belser's funeral was small and uneventful He had no children of his own, and most of his relatives had passed away.

The night before he had to return home, Jack and his Mom stopped by to see the old house next door one more time.

Standing in the doorway, Jack paused for a moment. It was like crossing over into another dimension, a leap through space and time The house was exactly as he remembered. Every step held memories. Every picture, every piece of furniture....Jack stopped suddenly.

"What's wrong, Jack?" his Mom asked..

"The box is gone," he said

"What box?" Mom asked.

"There was a small gold box that he kept locked on top of his desk I must have asked him a thousand times what was inside. All he'd ever tell me was 'the thing I value most,'" Jack said.

It was gone. Everything about the house was exactly how Jack remembered it, except for the box.. He figured someone from the Belser family had taken it.

"Now I'll never know what was so valuable to him," Jack said. "I better get some sleep. I have an early flight home, Mom."

It had been about two weeks since Mr. Belser died Returning home from work one day Jack discovered a note in his mailbox. "Signature required on a package. No one at home. Please stop by the main post office within the next three days," the note read.

Early the next day Jack retrieved the package. The small box was old and looked like it had been mailed a hundred years ago. The handwriting was difficult to read, but the return address caught his attention. "Mr. Harold Belser" it read. Jack took the box out to his car and ripped open the package. There inside was the gold box and an envelope.
Jack's hands shook as he read the note inside.

"Upon my death, please forward this box and its contents to Jack Bennett. It's the thing I valued most in my life." A small key was taped to the letter. His heart racing, as tears filling his eyes, Jack carefully unlocked the box. There inside he found a beautiful gold pocket watch.

Running his fingers slowly over the finely etched casing, he unlatched the cover. Inside he found these words engraved:

"Jack, Thanks for your time! -Harold Belser."

"The thing he valued most was...my time"

Jack held the watch for a few minutes, then called his office and cleared his appointments for the next two days. "Why?" Janet, his assistant asked.

"I need some time to spend with my son," he said.

"Dear Friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another."   1 John 4:11
Maybe somebody can use that reminder.....I know can.   Z

Divorce........American Style?

DIVORCE AGREEMENT
Fabulous stuff below; You've probably seen this before but I hadn't and I had to post it..enjoy...z. Thanks to SilvrLady for emailing it to me.

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists and Obama supporters, et al:

We have stuck together since the late 1950's for the sake of the kids, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has clearly run its course.

Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right for us all, so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.

Here is a model separation agreement:
Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a similar portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure
our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.

We don't like redistributive taxes so you can keep them. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military.  We'll take the nasty, smelly oil industry and you can go with wind, solar and biodiesel.  You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell. You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them. :-)

We'll keep capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart and Wall Street (Z: we'll also keep whatever wonderful Mama-Papa businesses that you haven't driven out of business yet). You can have your beloved lifelong welfare dwellers, food stamps, homeless, homeboys, hippies, druggies and illegal aliens. We'll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO's and rednecks. We'll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood .

You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we'll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us. You can have the peaceniks and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we'll help provide them security.

We'll keep our Judeo-Christian values. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism, political correctness and Shirley McClain. You can also have the U.N. but we will no longer be paying the bill.

We'll keep the SUV's, pickup trucks and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru station wagon you can find.

You can give everyone healthcare if you can find any practicing doctors. We'll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right.  We'll keep "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and "The National Anthem." I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute "Imagine", "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing", "Kum Ba Ya" or "We Are the World".

We'll practice trickle down economics and you can continue to give trickle up poverty your best shot.
Since it often so offends you, we'll keep our history, our name and our flag.
Sincerely,
John J. Wall
Law Student and an American

P. S.  And you won't have to press 1 for English when you call our country.

Z:  Anything you'd like to add to the divorce agreement? :-)

Obama is REAGANESQUE?

You probably saw this story on FOX tonight:  Katie Couric, Christiane Amanpour and Andrea Mitchell (and I think a few others but I can't think of them right now) all mentioned how REAGONESQUE Obama appeared during his SOTU speech.  And, of course, they meant that as a compliment.....this time.    These are people who hated ANYTHING REAGAN and now OBAMA is REAGANESQUE and they LIKE it?

Here's MY take on the FOX story:  You know how I'm frequently saying I think the White House sends out media memos..."say this, say that..?"    Ya, this has to be what that was..........connect the minds of Americans with THE REPUBLICAN MOST AMERICANS LOVE in the fight to keep a leftwing Democrat president popular.....let them think he loves the country like Reagan, let them think he puts America first like Reagan, let them think he's a Republican like Reagan..........gad, who'd have thought?

Could I be wrong?   Not on this one.   "Oh, how REAGANESQUE!"   ya, RIGHT. But pretty darned clever.

Birth Certificates....Who's keeping it in the news?

WOW!   As most of you know, I'm not big on spending a lot of time exploring the possibility that Obama wasn't born in America.......but when Democrats go to SUCH LENGTHS to keep information quiet, doesn't it make you curious, too?

Most people are OVER it...they understand there's a stone wall and, for some reason, Hawaii locked up the certificate and now there's the information in the link, too!!...Why are Democrats still trying today to prove or disprove where he was born?   And they blame the Right??

Obama's Speech and Margaritas.........."aye, aye, aye aaaayyy..."

Quote of the Day

“When I joined the military it was illegal
to be homosexual. Then it became optional.
I’m getting out before Obama makes it mandatory.”
GySgt Harry Berres, USMC

I have very little to say about the speech (I'll leave that up to you) so I thought I'd post the quote above, which our commenter SilvrLady just emailed me, which made me laugh out loud which was not caused by the only one (not too good) Margarita I finally ended up having at a Mexican restaurant with friends so I could avoid the Obama speech and have a nicer evening than I'd have if I listened (trust me)

I did listen in the car on the way home from dinner...it was STILL ON...and I cringed..."I will consider this......."   "...across MY desk"......oh, the ego.   I wonder if President Bush ever said "I"?   I don't know (oops)
I laughed out loud in the car hearing how Obama's saying yet again how he won't sign any bill with earmarks on it.   I don't know if he means when someone puts another's ear on an inkpad and then pushes that ear down on paper, but I think he means earmarks like on legislation and he's sure not hesitated to date, has he?  Didn't he promise that before?   Maybe I'm wrong, I'm not sure.

I don't even want to hear my favorite Paul Ryan's response....why, I don't know.   But I will say CNN was very professional (smile) and, again, showed their amazing bipartisanship by having Wolf Blitzer, a bunch of liberals and some token Conservative I'm not familiar with all discussing the speech, before and after, while FOX had on well-known liberals and conservatives.   No wonder twelve of their shows are the top twelve cable shows in viewership.

SO, you tell me............should I have stayed home and skipped the (I promise it was only ONE) Margarita or is it good I left and had a nice time instead of listening to HIM?

Anybody like most of the speech?   Please let me know.
By the way, I'm pretty sure I'm the only blogger who'll illustrate their OBAMA SPEECH blog post with a Margarita... :-) I think more should!   I think I needed more just to get through the ten minutes of the speech I did hear.  Aye.

The UN.......we paid up.....what now?

THIS fascinated me.   America's owed the UN money for years........and, last year, the Democrat Congress paid our dues and paid back-dues, also. During our financial crisis.  Now, when all we've got is constant nightmares from the UN like Iran being on Human Rights commissions, like the UN blaming us for anything they can get their hands on, etc.

Here's a clip from the excellent link:  "Republican Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs committee, is seeking cuts and has introduced a bill intended to pressure the United Nations to change the way it operates and to make dues voluntary. She also is promising investigations into possible corruption and mismanagement.
"U.S. policy on the United Nations should be based on three fundamental questions: Are we advancing American interests? Are we upholding American values? Are we being responsible stewards of American taxpayer dollars?" she said in a statement that was read at the briefing, which she could not attend. "Unfortunately, right now, the answer to all three questions is `No.'  (Z; wait, let me just read that again before I continue with my post, it feels so good for a change.....Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, you ROCK.)

What do YOU think?  Think we should have paid the UN off?  Think we should have investigations into "possible corruption" and "mismanagement"?  Um. I knew Benon Sevan and he's now hiding from corruption charges in his home country of CyprusHe's very small potatoes compared to what Republicans could uncover, VERY small potatoes.  Imagine what else they'll find?

When THIS happens, you know the UN is corrupt .......oh, and insane. And, now, they're richer.  Thanks to us.

Black America and the 3/5 Compromise

I watched the Rev Al Sharpton debate Rick Santorum on a point of race on FOX Monday night.   Actually, the debate shouldn't have been about race but Sharpton was trying to take it there, maybe some of you saw it.   The 3/5 Compromise was brought up and it was clear that, if I understand it correctly, Sharpton hangs on to an old and ugly misrepresentation of it that's taught in our schools today and not the understanding I have of it.

PLEASE, could we discuss that Compromise, what it meant to the North and the South but, especially, if it was a terrible insult or a protection of Black Americans of the day?    I'd really like to hear your take on it, your understanding of how it worked....the truth.  I've done some research and it's still not crystal clear.  Maybe it's a bit of  both Sharpton's take and my take, I'm eager to hear your thoughts.

Thanks very much.z

OPRAH's "OWN" Sister.........imagine?

Oprah has a half-sister she never knew about......imagine this girl finding out she shares a mother with a billionaire as famous as Winfrey?
Here's the linked article:

Oprah Winfrey on Monday revealed that a Milwaukee woman named Patricia was the half-sister Oprah never knew about until November.
"Yes, it is true," Winfrey told the audience of her daytime talk program, "The Oprah Winfrey Show."
"It is true that my mother, my mother Vernita is also Patricia's birth mother. That means Patricia is my half sister who I never knew existed," Winfrey said.
Patricia, whose last name was not revealed, appeared on Winfrey's show and said she had been raised in foster homes since age 7.
Oprah's mom, Vernita Lee, had given Patricia up for adoption because she thought it would be impossible to get off welfare if she had another child, she said.
Winfrey, 56, said she had no idea she had a half-sister because at the time Lee was pregnant, she was only nine years old and living with her father.
Patricia said she first learned she was Winfrey's half sister in 2007, but kept it a secret because she knew it would create a media frenzy.
Winfrey's personal life has been well documented. She was born in Mississippi to unmarried parents and raised by her grandmother early in her childhood. During her teen years she was shuttled between parents, and was the victim of abuse.
But Winfrey was able to rise above her difficulties, get an education and launch a career in broadcasting.
As a young woman, she moved to Chicago to work in TV news and eventually hosted her own TV talk show. She is now considered the most powerful women in U.S. media with co-ownership of newly-launched TV network, OWN

We talked about TV below (and thanks for your comments)....what do you think of OPRAH WINFREY?  ....about her ability to overcome the odds, her huge success, her charities, all that you've heard of her;  What are your views on her?     Think she'll help her new half-sister out? :-)
z

TV these days.........

Do you have a favorite television show?   That can include the news, sports, anything.
I'm interested in hearing what you recommend, something that makes you laugh or informs you.......something you really like to watch.

Be honest......I'd even admit I'd be watching LEAVE IT TO BEAVER if they still showed it!  Come on, give!!

Here's another question:  I just got finished reading Carol Burnett's adorable book I highly recommend;  THIS TIME TOGETHER.   Would you watch a good ol' Variety Show like hers if they put another one on the air?  Where'd they GO?  Have we become that jaded?

Sunday Faith Blog

A polite way to call someone a bastard
A guy was getting ready to tee off on the first hole when a second golfer approached and asked if he could join him. The first said that he usually played alone, but agreed to the twosome.

They were even after the first few holes.  The second guy said, "We're about evenly matched, how about playing for five bucks a hole?"
The first guy said that he wasn't much for betting, but agreed to the terms.  The second guy won the remaining sixteen holes with ease.

As they were walking off number eighteen, the second guy was busy counting his $80.00.  He confessed that he was the pro at a neighboring course and liked to pick on suckers.
The first fellow revealed that he was the Parish Priest.  The pro was flustered and apologetic, offering to return the money.
The Priest said, "You won fair and square and I was foolish to bet with you. You keep your winnings."

The pro said, "Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?"

The Priest said, "Well, you could come to Mass on Sunday and make a donation. And, if you want to bring your mother and father along, I'll marry them.”  :-)
Z: I thought this was pretty funny and I couldn't resist sharing it and finally came up with a way to tie it into a Sunday Faith Blog! .....  Be kind, try not to swear too much, pick your words and try to say what you think God might have you say!

"Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it." Isaiah 30:21
Happy Sunday!

Could this be the future?

"Winston, come into the dining room, it's time to eat," Julia yelled to her husband.

"In a minute, honey, it's a tie score," he answered.  Actually, Winston wasn't very interested in the traditional holiday football game between Detroit and  Washington.  Ever since the government passed the Civility in Sports Statute of 2017, outlawing tackle football for its "unseemly violence" and the "bad example it sets for the rest of the world," Winston was far less of a football fan than he used to be. Two-hand touch wasn't nearly as exciting.

Yet it wasn't the game that Winston was uninterested in.  It was more the thought of eating another TofuTurkey.  Even though it was the best type of VeggieMeat available after the government revised the American Anti-Obesity Act of 2018, adding fowl to the list of federally-forbidden foods, (which already
included potatoes, cranberry sauce and mince-meat pie), it wasn't anything like real turkey.   And ever since the government officially changed the name of "Thanksgiving Day" to "A National Day of Atonement" in 2020 to officially acknowledge the Pilgrims' historically brutal treatment of Native Americans, the holiday had lost a lot of its luster.

Eating in the dining room was also a bit daunting.  The unearthly gleam of government-mandated fluorescent light bulbs made the TofuTurkey look even weirder than it actually was, and the room was always cold.  Ever since Congress passed the Power Conservation Act of 2016, mandating all thermostats-which were monitored and controlled by the electric company-be kept at 68 degrees, every room on the north side of the house was barely tolerable throughout the entire winter.

Still, it was good getting together with family. Or at least most of the family. Winston missed his mother, who passed on in October, when she had used up her legal allotment of life-saving medical treatment.  He had had many heated conversations with the Regional Health Consortium, spawned when the private insurance market finally went bankrupt, and everyone was forced into the government health care program. And though he demanded she be kept on her treatment, it was a futile effort. "The RHC's resources are limited," explained the government bureaucrat Winston spoke with on the phone. "Your mother received all the benefits to which she was entitled.  I'm sorry for your loss."

Ed couldn't make it either.  He had forgotten to plug in his electric car last night, the only kind available after the Anti-Fossil Fuel Bill of 2021 outlawed the use of the combustion engines-for everyone but government
officials.  The fifty mile round trip was about ten miles too far, and Ed didn't want to spend a frosty night on the road somewhere between here and there.

Thankfully, Winston's brother, John, and his wife were flying in.  Winston made sure that the dining room chairs had extra cushions for the occasion. No one complained more than John about the pain of sitting down so soon after the government-mandated cavity searches at airports, which severely aggravated his
hemorrhoids.  Ever since a terrorist successfully smuggled a cavity bomb onto a jetliner, the TSA told Americans the added "inconvenience" was an "absolute necessity" in order to stay "one step ahead of the
terrorists." Winston's own body had grown accustomed to such probing ever since the government expanded their scope to just about anywhere a crowd gathered, via Anti-Profiling Act of 2022.  That law made it a crime to single out any group or individual for "unequal scrutiny," even when probable cause was involved. Thus, cavity searches at malls, train stations, bus depots, etc., etc., had become almost routine.  Almost.

The Supreme Court is reviewing the statute, but most Americans expect a Court composed of six progressives and three conservatives to leave the law intact.   "A living Constitution is extremely flexible,"said the Court's eldest member, Elena Kagan.  " Europe has had laws like this one for years.  We should learn from their example," she added.

Winston's thoughts turned to his own children. He got along fairly well with his 12-year-old daughter, Brittany, mostly because she ignored him. Winston had long ago surrendered to the idea that she could text anyone
at any time, even during Atonement Dinner. Their only real confrontation had occurred when he limited her to 50,000 texts a month, explaining that was all he could afford. She whined for a week, but got over it.

His 16-year-old son, Jason, was another matter altogether.  Perhaps it was the constant bombarding he got in public school that global warming, the bird flu, terrorism or any of a number of other calamities were "just around the corner," but Jason had developed a kind of nihilistic attitude that ranged between simmering surliness and outright hostility.  It didn't help that Jason had reported his father to the police for smoking a cigarette in the house, an act made criminal by the Smoking Control Statute of 2018, which outlawed smoking anywhere within 500 feet of another human being.  Winston paid the $5000 fine, which might have been considered excessive before the American dollar became virtually worthless as a result of QE13.  The latest round of quantitative easing the federal government initiated was, once again, to "spur economic growth."  This time they promised to push unemployment below its years-long rate of 18%, but Winston was not particularly hopeful.

Yet the family had a lot for which to be thankful, Winston thought, before remembering it was a Day of Atonement .  At least he had his memories.  He felt a twinge of sadness when he realized his children would never know what life was like in the Good Old Days, long before government promises to make life "fair for everyone" realized their full potential."

Quite a story, isn't it........we could laugh except these things don't REALLY seem so unimaginable anymore, do they.  Who would have thought that only five years ago?    I want to thank Pris for bringing this to our attention......   Think any of this COULD come true?

Michelle Obama.......What she wears in HER house....

I felt a little funny when I heard that Michelle Obama, surprising tourists, welcomed them to the White House this morning with "I am Michelle Obama. You are in my home, Welcome to my house.”    I heard it on the radio and there was no comment made so I figured I heard it wrong.  How could she?   HER HOME??

Then, there's this:

Ever the style risk-taker, the first lady chose this bold Alexander McQueen look for last night's State Dinner.

Dressed in a red petal print silk organza gown by Alexander McQueen, Michelle Obama stopped high-profile traffic Wednesday night at the White House State Dinner for the Republic of China. The brilliant red color is a symbol of luck in Chinese culture, but there was more to her designer choice than just diplomacy. (Z: EVERY single article I have read about this "Fabulous dress!" mentions the color and how that's Chinese for LUCK....no comment how it's also Chinese for RED CHINA, of course.  How wearing a dress the color of luck is appropriate or important is waaay beyond me, but maybe that's just me.)

The first lady's unofficial stylist Ikram Goldman, a Chicago boutique owner who commissions many of the looks worn by Mrs. O, is an admitted fan of the avant garde designer who died a year ago. Mrs. O wore McQueen originals twice last year, but this is the first time she's modeled a gown in his name.

The red dress was made for the 2011 resort collection by Sarah Burton, and was altered slightly at the sleeves to show off Obama's famously toned arms. Despite a focus on politics at the White House dinner, the guest list boasted icons of the fashion world like Vera Wang and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. But all eyes were on the first lady, whose impact on the global fashion industry is unrivaled.

Her leverage comes with credentials; over the past two years Obama's selection of designer gowns for political events has been bold, thoughtful, and spot-on.

(Z:  wow.  I guess they've missed those full skirts with the sweaters, the horrid shorts and big flowery dresses with flat shoes that should make any fashionista CRINGE.  By the way, fashion means SO little with the problems we have today, and I'm not particularly interested, but the FAWNING over this woman every time she appears is usually unwarranted and almost scary........She can look gorgeous, no doubt about it, and she can really make terrible fashion mistakes.  Try Googling for the mistakes...good luck, they're all too in love...amazing.)

Get a load of this.....

Sign the Petition:

"I call for an end to all overt and implied appeals to violence in American politics. We must debate, not hate."

No more shootings, no more hate

In the wake of the mass shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and 19 others in Tucson, we must end the violent rhetoric that has exploded in American politics over the past two years.
That's why we're calling on every member of Congress, as well as the major TV news networks, to put an end to overt and implied appeals to violence in our political debate.

That's on the Moveon.org site before you can enter into it...........Don't you love the Left?  They think you can sign a petition and stop violence......but, then, they think guns kill people, too.  'We must debate, not hate."  Ya, except if the debate is against them, then they need to shut it up.  Also, I just WISH one Lefty can show ONE "appeal to violence" from the Right.....  By the way, nobody's going to get me to stop hating what Obama and his bunch are doing, no matter how many petitions are signed.

I found this hilarious...kumbaya.  By the way, I used the word "load" in my headline...you think that word is too overt an appeal to violence?  :-)   HERE, go sign the petition, Lefties!!

China Visit: Hu is HERE

HERE is an excellent piece about the visit of the Chinese today in Washington, D.C., a visit filled with visions like that in the image to the right.  Warms your heart, doesn't it?

President Hu was celebrated by the Obama administration with a 21-Gun salute (Bush gave him one, too, by the way) and he had a private "working dinner" (God help us all) with Hillary and Obama and others last night and will be treated to a sparkling, celebrity-attended dinner tonight.  Speeches of welcome this morning immediately put us on a level playing field with China.  The message was that we are no better than they are, apparently;  something I know our leftwingers will be very, very relieved to hear.  The Harvard-elitist bunch are happy, "Hu is on FIRST."

In this short snippet about the visit, we read "In the wake of China's refusal to allow jailed democracy activist Liu Xiaobo to accept the Nobel Peace Prize last fall, Obama is expected to raise human rights concerns in private meetings with Hu. The issue also is likely to come up in a joint news conference today."   Since Obama very subtly mentioned human rights in his welcoming words, I can see what's happening;   he is impressing Americans with his tough stand on that with China's Hu while selling us out on other fronts.   Wait for the press conferences and let's see how much they emphasize human rights.  I have to admit, with the trouble America's in now, with the huge debt to China, with the way China's insulted us on our last visit there, I don't give a rat's poop about their human rights.  Let's get our country fixed, let's put a 25% tax on China's goods as Donald Trump suggests, and THEN, when we're happy and we're the great world power again, let's tick them off by giving them only a luncheon instead of a dinner (like Bush did), and then let's slam China for their human rights horrors.   As IF they're going to change their ways after Obama gets through with them on this trip?  REALLY? :-)  "Okay, we'll give you a trillion dollars more and we won't kill that human rights guy in our jail...you happy?"

By the way, here's the AP's take :  "WASHINGTON – When Hu Jintao makes what is likely his final trip to Washington as China's president, he will get an honor he desperately wanted but was denied during his first visit nearly five years ago: a White House state dinner.
Symbolism and protocol are very important to the Chinese and the opulence of Wednesday's black-tie affair with President Barack Obama should be plenty satisfying for Hu, a 67-year-old hydroelectric engineer who has ruled the country since 2002. That could help relations between the leaders of the world's two largest economies"   Apparently, a dinner is going to help relations with China?  Thanks, AP, you show your liberal naivite so glowingly well.  OH, and for those desirous of reading how AP feels Bush goofed up all over the last China visit, read the whole link, you'll enjoy it.

Do I think Obama should be greeting them with no fanfare and giving them bad chop suey for dinner?  NO.  But, there is a tone we USED TO SET which showed who's in charge.   We're NOT in charge anymore, but do we have to display that?

What do you think of all this?

"Looking for Dick Cheney's Heart"...Huffington Post title

Dick Cheney might need a heart transplant.   I thought I'd see what some of the Leftist blogs and their commenters are saying and found enough to make you very weary and very, very sad.

HERE is one bunch, from Huffington Post.   Just a couple of examples :  "Dick Cheney needs a heart transplant. DMVs flooded with people wanting to change organ donor status to "Not if it's for Dick Cheney."  Here is another:  "So, Dick Cheney may need a heart transplant. Yeah, he's needed one since birth. While he's at it, he should go for a brain transplant too."

Here's a man facing death and people can say this kind of thing?  REALLY?   Here is a bit from the Huffington article linked above, FROM THE TEXT!  "He looks gaunt and frail, sitting down, holding a cane. What is scary is he looks almost human, an old man. It's as if Darth Vader took off his cloak and it turned out to be the Tin Woodman looking for his heart. The irony boggles the mind."

I could go on and on and cut/paste any number of nasty comments from the left...I'm reminded of when Tony Snow died and Huffington Post had to shut down because they were deluged with gleeful revelers. Of course, Ariana has taken all those comments off finally.........you'll find nothing objectionable there anymore...Amazing.

And the leftwingers really do convince Americans that Republicans are the nasty bunch.  WOW.   Please, someone, find a mainstream Rightwing blog like Huffington, and cut/paste anything nearly that hateful about Ted Kennedy's death or Elizabeth Edwards' illness.............I'd like to see it.  Thanks.

Snow...for you who are deep in it............a little humor

I thought these were so cute!  ENJOY!............Which of my commenters lives where there's snow on the ground right now?   Are you in an area where you don't normally get much snow but got a lot this year?

MLK, Jr. Day....and schools

Congressman John King from S Carolina, and the NAACP, are upset that S Carolina schools are open today to make up for snow days.   Apparently, this is a given;  MLK Jr. Day, Memorial Day, and one other holiday I can't remember, are slated for use if snow days happen which require school days be added.

First, can you imagine that the schools did this on purpose to diss MLK, Jr?  And, secondly and most importantly, do you think King and the NAACP will complain if Memorial Day is used as a school day?   According to the news, these days have been slated for a long time for use if necessary but the NAACP didn't complain then............WHY NOW?   Do they REALLY think this is an insult to Martin Luther King, Jr., or would he want his day used for school children to make up school?  I honestly think he would.  Don't you?

I have a dream, too.......that Americans start to realize we're all American first and we need to pull together when necessary, not stand up for special interests.

Sitting Together at the State of the Union........

Did you hear about THIS?   Two senators, so far, have agreed to sit with each other during the State of the Union on January 25 (think they'll pass T shirts that say  "WE UNITED FOR THE STATE OF THE UNION?":-)
Anything Chuck Schumer says or does gives me pause (and nausea, I should add)...but I'm not sure where I stand (or sit) on this one...  ..What do you think....is it grandstanding hooey?
Two Republicans were on FOX this morning and beautifully and skillfully  (and disingenuously, in my opinion) evaded the question if they'd sit with Democrats.  Do they really have to wait a week and take the temperature of their fellow Republicans before they decide?  Don't they have opinions of their OWN?

I'm thinking more Democrats will agree to sit with the Republicans because they know that most of America probably likes the idea.........Americans are fair-minded and will applaud any sign of mending fences, especially when they see that the proverbial AISLE has grown wider than it's every probably been.......SO, the Dems will probably get great kudos in the media, as they usually do.....and any Republican who won't sit with a Dem will be touted as a nut who doesn't want unity.   That's how I think it'll be touted in the media, anyway.

Where do you stand.........er....SIT?

Miss America is BRILLIANT?

WHO KNEW?   Read the following paragraph from THIS article!

"Scanlan captured the hearts of seven judges after a night of playing the piano, walking across a Las Vegas stage in a white gown and black bikini, and saying security trumps the public's right to knowledge when it comes to government leaks."
Knowing that there are some who think HEROES are made from revealing American secrets which can have repercussions on our security, do you think JOY BEHAR voted for her?

And, maybe this will put an end to the types of answers we've heard before from beauty queens, like "I  WOULD LIKE WORLD PEACE FOR EVERYONE IN OUR COUNTRY!"  :-)

Sunday Faith Blog

Some of you know I've been ill.  I'd heard of shingles and knew it was painful, but I think saying it's painful is like saying childbirth is a romp in the park.    It's VERY painful, especially when it involves your head, not the more expected locations of the chest area or buttocks, which I hear is also excruciating.
I'm writing this because there's an angle about pain and the inability to help oneself that I felt it was good and important to share with you:

I've always been a fairly sympathetic person.  I'm no better than anybody else, but I am sensitive and I do feel deeply for other peoples' pain.  This is just part of my nature and I'm not even real sure it's always a good thing, but it's me.  But, though I suffered migraines most of my life which made me even empathetic toward the pain of others, this pain I had with shingles and feeling like an invalid really opened my eyes. You're stuck in the house, you're in really bad shape and it's a real eye-opener.
My message is this:   Help someone who's in pain or can't help his or herself...don't tell them you know how they feel unless you have had what they have, but listen and tell them how badly you feel that they're suffering.   If that person lives alone, call and tell them you're going to the store and is there anything you can pick up for them while you're there;  don't take 'no' for an answer.  After 2 weeks of sandwiches and frozen dinners (all things which have long shelf-lives so it's easier to eat those things than shop, which can be an impossibility for the sick, and who wants to bother a friend by asking them to please shop for you?) one starts craving fruit, fresh vegetables and citrus.  Get some for the person!!

Help your friend, your family member.........a kind and listening ear, a few craved groceries (I craved lemons so I think I was developing scurvy (smile))(and don't get anything they have to spend time cooking other than warming something up!), a jar of homemade soup, mean THE WORLD to a shut-in.  I said "No, thanks," when I was sickest and that was STUPID.   For too long, I turned down soup, I turned down the offers of loved ones to bring things over, shop, etc., ........so there's another message here:

If you're sick and stuck inside, DO NOT SAY "NO".........your friends/family want to help and it's stupid to turn them down.  I finally had to give in and accept the kindness of others, and OH, were they kind to me...I'll never be able to thank my friends and family enough.

This world is tough enough without being sick or confined to your house for any reason.........please let's stick together and help anyone we hear is either of the above or both.....PLEASE.

"Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the Lord delivers him in times of trouble.
The Lord will protect him and preserve  his life;  he will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes."  Psalms 41:1,2

Happy Sunday......keep your eyes and ears open and help someone who needs it.......And, accept the help if you're on the receiving end............you'll both be blessed for it.  I'm feeling 95% better.......thank the Lord.
BY THE WAY...some of you email me personally, some of you have my phone number...and some of us only correspond through our blogs...I want to THANK YOU ALL who called, sent things, and stuck around geeeZ though I was so sick I could barely do one blog a day to keep geeeeZ running.........I shouldn't be surprised, but your loyalty to my blog touched me so deeply...so many of you just kept commenting while I wasn't visiting at all.    God bless you all for that...it meant a LOT.  Love, Z

REPEAL OBAMA CARE

HERE is a site where you will find a petition which will be going to President Obama asking to repeal his health bill.
HERE is another site where you can sign against Obama's plan.
HERE is the petition Huckabee talks about in a TV ad.

Which one do we sign?  Why don't they have ONE PETITION, or do we sign all three?  We need to sign  against this awful health bill and make sure good changes are made slowly, methodically, and carefully to our health care system, the way it should have been done before a 2000 page bill even lawmakers hadn't read was passed.   I wish I knew if all these sites are adding the names together or fighting against each other as, with some petitions, multiple signatures of the same people negates the petition.  Anybody able to help here?

thanks...

More "trusted digital identities"......

Can you let me know what you think of THIS INFORMATION?

The Obama administration is currently drafting what it's calling the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace, which Locke said will be released by the president in the next few months. (An early version was publicly released last summer.)
"We are not talking about a national ID card," Locke said at the Stanford event. "We are not talking about a government-controlled system. What we are talking about is enhancing online security and privacy, and reducing and perhaps even eliminating the need to memorize a dozen passwords, through creation and use of more trusted digital identities."
The Commerce Department will be setting up a national program office to work on this project, Locke said.
Details about the "trusted identity" project are remarkably scarce. Last year's announcement referenced a possible forthcoming smart card or digital certificate that would prove that online users are who they say they are. These digital IDs would be offered to consumers by online vendors for financial transactions.
Schmidt stressed today that anonymity and pseudonymity will remain possible on the Internet. "I don't have to get a credential, if I don't want to," he said. There's no chance that "a centralized database will emerge," and "we need the private sector to lead the implementation of this," he said.

So, if everybody won't 'have to' get it, what's the point?  How much safer will we be?  What's up with this, anybody heard about it?   Let me know what you think....

Obama's speech and....wait, LEFTIST ASSASSINS? Could it BE? :-)

I'd done the post below and then watched the Tucson proceedings tonight on television.   I have to admit I thought Obama's speech was excellent, he struck just the right tone and evaded effectively the ridiculous and wrong-headed attacks on the Right quite well.
I felt badly for a university president who can't pronounce NapolitAHno, but...whatever.
I also was stunned and pleased to hear NapolitAHno quote from the Old Testament but thought she might have said a tad more than that.
I was even more stunned to hear Eric Holder mention Jesus and Paul...has he done that in D.C. speeches, too? :-)   Eric Holder reading from Corinthians?
Even Obama, who can't bring himself to say "Creator" when he's quoted from the Declaration of Independence three times said God........bravo, Barack.
Yes, his speech was very, very good, very healing, and I have to admit I think it's his best yet.
I was a bit surprised Judge Roll was on the 9th Circuit;  I didn't know they had a Republican on that Circuit...who knew?
Still, the left's still at it saying it's RIGHTWING RHETORIC which killed the victims in Tucson.   I wonder if Paul Krugman would be blamed for LEFTWING RHETORIC, or Keith Olbermann, had the Congresswoman been a Republican?
Now, do yourself a favor and see about Leftist assassins:

CHECK OUT BEAMISH'S SITE HERE............he's got QUITE an article you'll want to read and send on, believe me.  Check out the politics of most killers of politicians, it's worth the information.  The media'd be SO disappointed to read his blog, I'm not sure they could take it.

thanks, Beamish, for a lot of work and a lot of education. Maybe some of it's a stretch, but it's sure compelling and worth a good conversation :-)

Democracy around the world waning.......

Did you see THIS?    It has to be more than 25 countries with "freedom slipping"...heck, they don't even list America!

Loughner's family....did he kill them, too?

HERE is an article about the parents of Tucson killer Jared Loughner.

Do you think we need to know about them?  Do they owe us interviews, is it our right to hear their feelings?   Does the fact that some neighbor quoted in the article said Mrs Loughner always had at least 30 beers in her shopping card condemn them?   Is that information that should be known as if it has some bearing on raising a crazed kid??

What do you think?   Do they owe us anything?  Are they victims of this awful crime, too?   God forbid Jared Loughner was your son........what would you do?

Lewd shows, lewd films...........why?

My sister saw Westside Story on stage here in L.A. a few weeks ago.   She said it was a little weird because Maria and her boyfriend get in bed on stage..".....was that in the original show?"    I told her it wasn't and she said it was a little weird to watch...so abruptly out of the normal show.

My friend who loves opera said that the operas now have the biggest stars in barely any clothing and even Anna Netrebko (see image), a gorgeous soprano, maybe the hottest name in opera right now, might as well be having sex during Puccini or Mozart or whatever opera she's in.... "They put her in see-through clothes and she and the male leads do all but actual penetration on stage......"WHY?, " my friend asks, "...when Puccini would roll in his grave, that's not in the opera!  Does the music suddenly not hold up enough that they have to do this?"

A lovely, very with-it friend of mine saw THE BLACK SWAN with her new beau.........she said she was almost unbearably miserable watching the girl masturbate very, very realistically in her bed, with her mother watching.......but when the highly explicit drugs/alcohol lesbian scene happened, the new beau said "You're uncomfortable, you want to leave?"  (He gained major points with her for having done that).  They did leave.   As did a few others around them in the theater.

These are only a few examples, aren't they...you know so many more.

Why mess with Westside Story or Puccini?   Remember The Quiet Man, where they're standing drenched in rain, very close to each other, and nothing happens, but your pulse is racing because of the amazing raw sexuality of the scene? Wonderful stuff!   Remember films where they kiss and the door closes and you know what's going on and it's so exciting, never to be turned into dull disappointment in having to see the actual act which, let's face it, isn't ever QUITE as good as if YOU were doing it? (Smile!)

Can we ever go back to original stories, respectful of the audience, great sex scenes only in our imaginations, which is SO much more wonderful?

Is this a case of liberal entertainment people deciding for us that it's what we want to see, deciding we're prudes if we don't want to see it, or what?   Is this 'real FREEDOM!" or is REAL FREEDOM when the whole audience has true advanced warning about whether it will enjoy the show?  You tell me.........And can we put that horse back into the barn?

Happy Monday to you....let's have fun today instead of dwelling on politics and shootings and sickness!

Sundy Faith Blog

An excellent "explanation" of faith is in red letters below.....This echoes my feelings about Christian faith and so, when I ran across it in an amazing Bible a dear friend gave me (American Patriot's Bible), I knew I should type this here for you all:

Joshua Speed was a close friend of Abraham Lincoln, a skeptic when both were young men. He later published a small volume called Reminiscences of Abraham Lincoln, which includes a story from 1864 when he visited Lincoln in Washington:
'I have often been asked what were Mr. Lincoln's religious opinions.  When I knew him, in early life, he was a skeptic. He had tried hard to be a believer, but his reason could not grasp and solve the great problem of redemption as taught.  He was very cautious never to give expression to any thought or sentiment that would grate harshly upon a Christian's ear.  For a sincere Christian, he had great respect. He often said that the most ambitious man might live to see every hope fail; but, no Christian could live to see his fail, because fulfillment could only come when life ended.  But this was a subject we never discussed.

The only evidence I have of any change, was in the summer before he was killed.  I was invited out to the Soldier's Home to spend the night.  As I entered the room, near night, he was sitting near a window intently reading his Bible.

Approaching him, I said, "I am glad to see you so profitably engaged."

"Yes," said he, "I am profitably engaged."

"Well," said I, "If you have recovered from your skepticism, I am sorry to say that I have not."

Looking me earnestly in the face and placing his hand on my shoulder, he said "You are wrong, Speed.  Take all of this book upon reason that you can, and the balance on faith, and you will live and die a happier and better man."'

"...he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wing."  James 1:6

Amen to that.  Don't I know it.   Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone..

NPR and journalism.........who can ever trust them?

Ellen Weiss, the NPR executive who fired news analyst Juan Williams by phone in October, resigned Thursday just as NPR's Board of Directors released recommendations based on an independent review of the incident. NPR released two statements Thursday, both the board's recommendations and news about Weiss's departure. And each statement mentions the other. Still, NPR spokeswoman Anna Christopher told The Cutline that "these are two distinct pieces of news."

I think that's pretty odd.  Their story seems to be that Ellen Weiss (who's been at NPR since 1982) didn't resign BECAUSE a board "released recommendations"  but she did fire Juan Williams in a horrid way, a board made a 'recommendation or two' and she resigned..."two distinct pieces of news,"  according to NPR.  How does ANYBODY believe this type of company?

HERE is the whole article, not much more information there, but you get the drift.  By the way, NPR's Vivian Schiller is staying though she said Juan Williams should talk to his psychiatrist.   She got no 2010 bonus, but she keeps her job.  She probably told Weiss to fire him, too, as Weiss's superior, but I can't make that claim, obviously.  Ms Schiller apologized...but NOT to Juan Williams.   Nina Totenberg's still at NPR though she said Jesse Helms and his grandchildren should get AIDS, but...........that didn't seem to upset Schiller, who says: "..... she has no problem with people taking controversial positions, but that such opinions should not come from NPR reporters or news analysts. Williams, Schiller said, is a news analyst, not a commentator or column."

It's difficult to understand that people can trust the npr brand and constantly insult FOX (which had the good sense to hire Williams as yet another liberal contributor).
