Some of you have emailed me asking for shots of my Christmas dinner, since my food blog has carried Easter and Thanksgiving food shots....so they're there! I hope you enjoy!

BY THE WAY....I just saw LES MISERABLES and it is BEYOND FABULOUS. The singing is astonishing and the acting is sublime....Hugh Jackman and Eddie Redmayne (be still, my silly heart..)ROCK. Some of THE best singing EVER. Crowe isn't a singer but he was definitely adequate. Ann Hathaway was quite good. I HIGHLY recommmend this film.

I did manage to see one film during this holiday season: The Life of Pi. I do recommend the film.
Saw The Hobbit.
Will probably see Les Miserable.
For the wife's sake.
But we both enjoyed the 2000 TV version with Depardieu and Malkovich that I can't expect it to get better with a bunch of singing and dancing...about misery.
I have another recommendation:
THE HOBBIT in 3D and HFR. HFR = high frame rate. If this is the coming trend in film, I highly recommend it. I've never seen a movie that possessed as much "presence." You feel as though you were in the scene itself.

My grandson went to see the HOBBIT on Christmas day, I haven't heard if it was good or not. We have not see. Les Mis yet.

Still prefer Raymond Bernard's 1934 version of Les Mis.
Unknown is Ducky
thank you for the recommendation--the trailer looks great-so- will go -in a week - after the crowds go away!:-)
Hope your New Year celebrations will be grand ---

Ducky, Bernard's version was on television the other night very late...it's fabulous.
This newest version only shares a story and title because it's all set to music; it's more an opera and the singing is exquisite. I was stunned at Jackman's and Redmayne's voices ... that they are not known more as actors than singers is like Pavarotti being known more for how he cooked spaghetti.
FABULOUS.
I saw The Hobbit and that was outstanding.
Thanks for recommending Les Miserable. The previews do look good and do definitely want to see it.
Z, wishing you a belated blessed and Merry Christmas.
Better Les Miserable then Mo Miserable, I always say.
;-)
Cheers!

I'm with Always on Watch. Life of Pi was quite good (and this after Argo and Flight, which were gripping). Then I saw A Royal Affair. One of the best movies we've seen in years. And pretty accurate historically. Cannot recommend enough!
I would encourage people to read up on the Bourbon restoration first before seeing Les Miserables. My husband had read Hugo's book, but I was lost. The movie would have made more sense had I done that first.
Deborah, the enjoyment of the pure theatrical excellence trumps any historical background. I HIGHLY recommend everyone see it!! HIGHLY.
Some of the best singing I've heard ..ever.
Teresa, thanks; I hope you're feeling well.
FT...you'd LOVE it...I hope you can go and enjoy!
By the way, everybody; the faith aspects of Les Miserables are surprising...
Those aspects are amazing indeed Z! I felt as if I had been to a worship service, so many biblical principles and contrasts.
