Pick a TOP MAN and TOP WOMAN who has your idea of THE MOST BEAUTIFUL APPEARANCE.
We know you married couples think your spouse is, and that's so nice, but give us a famous person you think is THE TOP, man and/or woman, and why! I'd like to hear.
Thanks!
z I can't use an image with this post because I don't want to sway you!!

I'm not much for celebrities but I'll give it a go.
In the women category I don't believe anyone is better looking than Carrie Underwood. I am blown away by her beauty on top of her talent. And she's one celebrity that (at least for now) seems to very sweet.
There are a few men I would pick. But their extreme views and nasty comments about people who believe as I do make me think they are very ugly people dispite their outward appearance. I can no longer see any beauty in thei looks.
After all these years though, Denzel Washington still makes my toes curl (as my mother used to say).
I can tell you which Man and which Women I WOULDN'T VOTE FOR. Barack and Michelle Obama.
My distaste for Barack Hussein Obama is beyond explanation, and as for
Michelle Obama, she couldn't hold a candle to Jacqueline Kennedy or Laura Bush when it comes to having any sort of class!
Nuf Said?
In the women category, Jennifer Morrison would be my pick, based on physical beauty alone, as I know nothing about her personally.
Personhood means a lot more to me than beauty.
If a woman is physically beautiful but is socially or morally corrupt, or engages in self-destructive activity, she is ugly.
As for men...I have no idea how to even recognize what is good looking.
TOP WOMAN: MY VOTE GOES TO MRS. Z.
She has to be a STUNNER if her voice is anything to go by (didn't we all hear it here, once?) And then, there is GeeeeeZ. Talk of beauty with brains!
I was going to say my grandma, but since you took that off the table...
I don't know. The idea of beauty has changed, and I'm probably out of the mainstream since many of the women pushed forth as 'most beautiful' don't do anything for me.
I'm still considering it but I can say, unequivocally, that Pelosi and Reid didn't make the "short list"!
Man: Larry The Cable Guy. Reason: who could resist that hunk o' burnin' love handles?
Woman: Laura Ingraham. Reason: men go gaga over brainiac babes.
Gotta love people who repost their off topic blog posts on someone else's site...to gin up traffic.
My vote for sheer physical beauty would go to Kate Beckinsale.
This is fun and I'll comment more from work...gotta run now.
Obviously, whoever ANONYMOUS is WINS :-) (WHO ARE YOU!?)
Thanks....VERY much. You're wrong, but I liked your comment !!
Fredd; Mr Z and I met Laura Ingraham..he was crazy about her! Believe it or not, she's very thin and surprisingly tiny! Very cute in person. Great to talk to, I must say.
ConsIns..who did that?
Z - It was the Rocketeer above....though one post is gone now.
Character and personality mean so much more to me at this late stage of the game, I hardly ever think in terms of physical perfection as a standard that would inspire admiration anymore.
For once in my loquacious life I find myself at a loss for words.
Margaret Rutherford, who played Madame Arcati in Blithe Spirit and Miss Marple in a series of "Murder" movies that came out in the sixties, was like an English bulldog. She was so ungainly in appearance she had by force of SPIRIT a kind of beauty that made her an enduringly appealing figure.
Sidney Greenstreet -- probably best known as Caspar Gutman -- the amiably evil fat man in The Maltese Falcon -- was another such character. A riveting, unforgettable screen Presence.
Claude Rains, Judith Anderson, Marjorie Main, Marie Dressler, Edna May Oliver, Gladys Cooper, Humphrey Bogart, Maria Ouspenskaya, Helen Hayes, Basil Rathbone were others who qualify in this department.
Not the kind of answer you were looking for I know.

oh, Thanks, CI.
Ya, people do that and it's not goood.
I've also had people come and talk about their post and invite people to come by. I don't much mind if it's right ON TOPIC...
but...
On the other hand, new bloggers need to do something to get their blog known. I was blessed by AOW and Elmer's Bro and Beamish and Beak and Brooke and FJ and a few who've now left blogging; they knew me from my commenting at another site (FPM) and touted me to their commenters and frequented my blog to get others here. I'll be forever grateful.
FT..no, there was a reason for my going only for outward appearance. But thanks for the lists.
Margaret Rutherford was one of Mr Z's favorite character actresses...not pretty but wonderful.
I'm surprised MARGARET HAMILTON didn't make your list :-)
Oouspenskaya is a great.
Catherine Deneuve.
Coolest male --- Alain Delon.
Jef Costello in Le Samourai makes Bond look like a cranky old man.
Ducky, I've always thought Catherine Deneuve was absolutely gorgeous, too.
She lives in a town outside Paris and is very well loved by the villagers. Her face was almost 'too perfectly symmetrical' (which they have found is what we perceive as beauty)...
absolutely stunning.
I'll weigh in later; it's hard for me to pick any women compared to those who aren't alive today; Hedy Lamar, young Joan Crawford, etc.
I really don't even know many young actresses anymore
"I really don't even know many young actresses anymore"
I'm with you Z, me too! There's no uniqueness in their looks to me.
I can't think of anyone more beautiful than Elizabeth Taylor when she was young. Too bad her voice didn't match her looks!
Today, Brad Pitt is handsome as can be, but I prefer men like Kurt Russell, or Russell Crowe. I like men's men not boy-men!
Ben Kingsley
Helen Mirren
Frankly, I cannot stand the new actors and actresses. Everyone has plastic surgery and they all look like the same person! (Men and women alike!) I cannot watch a movie with trite movie stars, it cheapens the whole thing! Imperfections are what make people beautiful. Hollywood doesn't get it. Are we surprised, then, that the people who support Hollywood the most also support democrats? Reality is not a part of their repertoire.
Andie
@Z -- Ducky, I've always thought Catherine Deneuve was absolutely gorgeous, too.
---
And she is still a very skilled actress.
She's really aging well especially considering she smokes a couple packs a day.
Must a pretty serious aging helper.
@Divine Theater --- Are we surprised, then, that the people who support Hollywood the most also support democrats?
----
Trite.
I'm a socialist and I think Hollywood has destroyed cinema.
I think you'll find them pretty well split. I know Clint Eastwood is a big supporter of the social welfare state.
FROM Z AT WORK:
Pris and Divine..no uniqueness anymore, you're right. No sense of STYLE that sets them apart. ugh.
Elizabeth was gorgeous but that voice was awful. Grace Kelly, too, was beautiful, but the voice always sounded (as did Taylor's) like they were forcing the acting somehow.
Ducky, she's aging okay...lots of smoke and mirrors. She's thickening a bit, too, but who isn't? I watched the last St Laurent fashion show in our Paris apartment and she wore a smoker...still looked pretty good.
I'd been invited to actually go and then my friend's husband decided to go and she only had two tickets...so disappointing. I literally stood and clapped in my television room in Paris, it was THAT fabulous a retrospective.
Ducky...who's 'pretty well split'?? Or is it a joke?
Clint Eastwood is a Libertarian...about as far away from support of the Welfare State as one can get.
Ducky, I am sure you are a proud socialist but I am sure that you know you are not the only one out there? I was speaking specifically about the collective left. Everything isn't ALWAYS about YOU.
Andie
@Divine Theater --- Clint Eastwood is a Libertarian...about as far away from support of the Welfare State as one can get.
---
There I go again, I forgot that the right is really irony challenged.
Yes I know Eastwood is Libertarian. I've met him. Interesting talk with him on the evolution of his attitude to violence in his films.
Yeah, well, I missed that. Eastwood makes his OWN films for a REASON.
No votes for Matt Damon?
Matt Damon. Eeeeew!
LOL!
I agree with Fred: Laura Ingraham has the complete package.
Package of what?
From Z:
SF and Fredd are right (as was Mr. Z)...Ingraham's smart, sassy, attractive and very, very engaging.
She's adopted two foreign children on her own, too. Quite a lady.
Divine...were you around when I reported on my evening seeing Condoleeza Rice speak? During the cocktail hour, in walks Eastwood...as he passed me it was such an urge to say "can I get you a CHAIR?"
Honestly, if he wasn't that old and might have taken it wrong, I'd have said it!
Ducky..MATT DAMON? no. Decidedly not.
Gary Cooper - Loretta Young
Orson Welles - Greta Garbo
Richard Todd - Jean Simmons
Louis Jourdan - Joan Crawford
Robert Taylor - Myrna Loy
How's that?
Helen Highwater
Craig Vetner...
Alan Sokal
You've got to look on the inside. ;)
That's what I get for trying to read some comments too quickly.
I was reading Helen's pair listing when I came across
Richard Todd. - Jean Simmons when my brain read
Richard Simmons.
That gave me a double take.
I mentioned Matt Damon, z, in reference to Alain Delon.
Criterion is issuing Rene Clement's version of The Talented Mr. Ripley and it got me thinking how Damon might compare to Delon.
Now can we talk about people who are truly beautiful, not Hollywood beautiful? My list for that is a mile long! Many of them you never heard of!
Tough question...
I would have to say for a woman, Marilyn Monroe.
For a Man, James Remar.
Ducky, I still don't like Matt Damon.
Joe Cons.: My post was purposefully about outer beauty.
Of course, the truth is that someone can be VERY classically beautiful and, if ugly inside with hate or greed or otherwise nasty, doesn't look so good on the outside...........amazing, but true.
Need to go to a meeting...see y'all later.xxx
I vote for a post of Z singing the most requested song.
My vote is O Holy Night.
Care to start that poll, Z?
Man - Sean Connery
Woman - Ann Margaret
Aged of about 30 years ago.
Singing? I like Silent Night
THANKS,Rita... the only thing I have on the computer is MARY DID YOU KNOW? and maybe I'll post that closer to Christmas.
xxx
Kid, I've just got to say no actress leaves me colder than Ann-Margaret....but, boy, I know the GUYS like her :-)
Daniel Day-Lewis
Demian Bichir
Javier Bardem
Andy Garcia
Selma Hayek
Kate Hudson
Juliette Binoche
Audrey Tautou
I can't believe I forgot HUGH LAURIE.
I think the "perfect" face is boring.
Okay, I'm choosing dead people first....
Most ruggedly handsome man ever: Clark Gable.
Most beautiful woman: Marilyn Monroe before she went platinum blonde and was "all dolled up."
Still living and my idea of good looking....
A handsome devil: Tom Selleck.
A beautiful woman: Jodie Foster.
Do you see any difference between beautiful and sexy? Gable was sexy, but I'd never call him handsome. Bill Holden was both. Alain Delon never grew past adolescence. If you like Frenchies, how about Jean Louis Trintignant? Jean Paul Belmondo was not good looking, but he was very attractive.
Mary Astor was beautiful, but got stuck playing mothers early on. Barbara Stanwyck had very durable good looks. She could be anything a script demanded. Ginger Rogers was a true beauty -- and kept her appeal for a very long time. Rita Hayworth was magnificent.
What made you ask this question?
---------> Katharine Heartburn
Ooh! ooh! ooh! How could I have forgotten to mention Grace Kelly who was for my money just about the most beautiful girl who ever lived? I fell in love with her the first time I saw Rear Window. Dial M for Murder sealed the deal forever. To this day I never miss a chance to see ether of those movies -- along with To Catch a Thief. High Society is wonderful too, but for me the role of Tracey Lord will always properly belong to Katharine Hepburn
I was just a kid at the time, but I remember feeling both betrayed -- and afraid -- when she married that chubby, stubby-looking foreign fellow -- Prince Rainier of Monaco, which all of us comfortably called "muh-NOCK-o" before he got dragged into the limelight.
She was a FABULOUSLY good actress -- really gifted in the way Irene Dunne and Rosalind Russell were gifted -- incredibly versatile. There was literally no role she could not play with aplomb. The Country Girl proved that beyond any shadow of a doubt.
WE would have benefitted a great deal if she had pursued her career into old age. The worst part is that her marriage by all accounts was not very happy, and her children, possibly, were a disappointment. They had too much of their father in them, I suspect.
