Person of the Year............YOU!?

Who would you vote for in Time's search for PERSON OF THE YEAR?   HIM??   Imagine?

Seriously....who do you think should get selected and why?

Thanks!

I would abstain from voting. It's an exercise that doesn't even come close to the label of mental gymnastics. The eventual selectee will be denigrated as a member of an opposition party or some other metric that deems them unsuitable for selection.

In short, Time gives the audience what it wants...something else to bitch about.

My pick is understandably regional, but Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder gets the nod for the recent Right to Work legislation passing in this dark blue state. It might be like "lipstick on a pig", but having this pass in the state of the birthplace of the UAW is hopeful. God Bless Snyder!

Like, CI, I would have to abstain.

Based on the criteria that Time uses for the title of "Person of the Year," I don't see that any conservative has qualified -- and certainly no Leftist has.

Always On Watch said...

The criteria and worth a look.

So, maybe a Leftist HAS qualified after all:

we want our Person of the Year to be both a snapshot of where the world is and a picture of where it’s goingThe criterion is “the person or persons who most affected the news and our lives, for good or ill, and embodied what was important about the year.” A lot of news is bad news and a lot of people who make bad news are very powerful people. TIME’s editors aren’t immune to that reality. Famously, they named Hitler in 1938 and Stalin in 1939 and again in 1942.

I would vote for NewsWeek magazine.

Wouldn't they make a neat cover for Time Magazine?

The Man of the Year doesn't have to be GOOD person -- merely INFLUENTIAL.

It has been evident for a very long time that the forces of Negativity, Hostility, Corruption, Degeneration and Disintegration have carried far more weight in the temporal realm than any positive, creative or salubrious.

I would have named Barack Obama as The Man of the Year, except for my conviction that he is not his own man, but a puppet who serves the hidden agenda of Unseen, Unknown, largely Unknowable forces who rule the world surreptitiously from Olympian Heights with no one to call their power to account.

Disbelieve that at your peril -- and you will -- no doubt.

Putting originality aside and resisting the urge of sarcasm that this subject evokes, I concur with DaBlade. Governor Snyder, as an individual, along with the Michigan State Legislature has provided us with a 'ray of hope' which mitigates the scars of our suffering since the National disaster, sustained on November 6. Otherwise, SF makes a very salient point:"But seriously, does anybody care what that rag says anymore?"

FreeThinke said...

You could give the award to Chris Christie, whose loudmouthed post Sandy antics were, I believe, largely responsible for throwing the election to Obama.

If yo want to put the spotlight on good governors, how about Wisconsin's Scott Walker, who took on Big Labor, stared directly into the muzzle of a cannon, and WON. The cannon backfired Ha! Ha! Ha!

As far as the significance of TIME Magazine is concerned, I too agree with SilverFiddle.

Bah. I'm not sure who I'd choose, but I'm willing to bet this rag will do something preposterous and 'controversial' to sell a few copies.

TIME should just give up and go the route of Newsweek.

I'd say it'd have to be Mr Obama. He's the most under-appreciated man, a free-thinker, open, transparent, able to listen to all points of view, a real healer, someone who consistently goes for bi-partisanship and compromise, who puts race and class and politics behind him when making any kind of decision. He only does what's best for the nation.

Why not the head of the NRA?

Looks like the gun loons opened a branch office in Connecticut today.

"Why not the head of the NRA?"

More than 50,000 people are mutilated, injured and killed every year by cars...drunk drivers too.

Yea...sue GM, Ford and Chrysler and all of them for their dangerous, killer products.

Let's ban cars Duck or ban booze outright.

Ed, go ahead, SUCK UP! :-) (thanks!)

Ducky, if the 'gun loons' had guns there, maybe not so many would have died?

EVERYBODY: When I was in the car this morning, 1 was feared dead/ can it be that the headline that 27 have died is true? I'm stunned and devastated.

God bless their families and give them some kind of peace in this nightmare.

Maybe the president of the NRA should be TIMES' Person of the Year?

@Z

"maybe not so many would have died?"

Yea...those "gun free zones" and bans sure do protect people don't they? Meanwhile waiting for the cops to show up has resulted in a free fire zone by the perp...if one...ONE person was armed...they might have had a chance ( as much as the cops they waited for ) to kill the perp.

But no...we can't allow guns and can't allow people to protect themselves...no sirrreeee....can't have that.

Now we can see that that "policy" of hiding under a desk just doesn't work real well.

I'll pray for the Governor to get some common sense ( hell they make guns in Ct too ) and pass CCW for qualified people.

Apparently gun manufacturers employ many CT residents!

3. Winchester

Yeah, why not?

How many of these NUTS who have recently perpetrated such shootings were, in fact, NRA members?

Actually Lib the Koch's and Adelson are together only worth 4.3 times as much as Soros. Poor George has dropped all the way to 15th on the list. If I recall correctly he used to be 5th or 6th.

Obama's economy will make a conservative of him yet.

Without getting in the politics of the situation, I'm going to say Benjamin Netanyahu.

For telling the entire free world, who has left Israel high and dry to kiss off, and for letting the murderous vermin who inhabit the bordering countries that they will be dealt with, without hesitation and to an extent necessary to dissuade them from continuing their murderous vermin-like ways.

I think Ben is one of the few people left on the planet that has a bead on reality, regardless what people think of the Israel/Middle East reality.

Yea...perfect...just perfect. But the lame ass media ain't going to nominate a "murdering" Jew who defends his people and country against murdering muttlim slime that love to kill Jews....will they? Especially the commie Red POS Time or NewsDrek.

Your heads in the right place pal...so's your heart...but...we're all so GD naive to think that the right things will ever get done.

We keep getting suckered punched like Crowder and don't throw it back. Breitbart...was the last hope of giving it right back to the socialist bastards.

Bottom line...the reds are winning. And we will get...what they...THEY wished for.

Ya know...I read that a couple of times. And it occurred to me that since the Aaaarabs have won only 7 Nobel Prizes since it's inception...and the Jews have about 150 to their credit in every field of endeavor that mankind has excelled in...not just bullshit politics either....that they have the potential for engineering a solution for their AAAAArab muttlim dilemma.

And I'm not talking about a complex, sophisticated computer virus...either.

They'd be doing the entire world...a human wide service. IMHO.

IMP, the right things...

Yes, that's out the window. Though in an odd way, it's almost refreshing - because there is no doubt about the path now.

Honestly, I felt sure we have to hit rock bottom before we can reverse direction a long time now. Talking or voting ain't getting it done. They will only learn through experience. We must go through it now to get through it.

It would be nice if there is something left to save on the other side. It won't be our world anymore though, it will be theirs. Ultimately they get what they've sown.

Cycles. I'm glad I was in a good one for as long as I was. Really, if you look at our chunk of time... We missed WW1, the great depression and WWII, then we had 40-50 pretty decent years, now it's headed back to the toilet, but 40-50 isn't anything to sneeze at.
And we're at least equipped to deal with the immediate future. Also nothing to sneeze at.
My Nieces and Nephews know the score, it will be their time.

IMP, regards the aaarabs, Thanks, and I'm with ya there. Evil simply cannot win.

If it comes to it, we'll have open season here, officially or otherwise. People will be given a choice to pick a side. Complacency doesn't last long in any venue without being disrupted by reality and violence.

Wait...are you implying that we're not there yet? Hey-Sus-Christos ...we've been going down the libbie / commie / feel good / faggy shitter for more than 20 years now.

Remember...sodomy is now...legal? But it's a crime to sodomize a rape victim...but not each other?

a BIG...WTF? Oh..I got it...we now mask this perversity and crime...as...uhhhh...Gay? What's so GD "gay" ( does that mean content and happy? ) about getting drilled in...nevermind ( sorry Z )...you get the picture.

And...if we're so perfectly willing to turn our backs on such disgusting decadence...in speech...in music...in movies...in "entertainment"...what else are we willing as a civilized society to overlook?

IMP, sorry for the incompleteness, but Rock Bottom at the 10,000 foot level means things like:
- health care denied for most senior citizens.
- complete lack of quality acre for the vast majority-f you're not connected ya know.
- people being assign "Health Counselers" becauset he government deems their BMI index or something else a health risk, and now unless you look like twiggy, you have some fat lesbian knocking on y9our front door F* with you about your life choices. Dude, it's in the obmallycare bill.
-gun control, inspiring home invasion, much violence and a total lack of personal liberty
- a lib supreme court that simply puts the constitution through the shredder.
- a libtard contingent that finally wakes up, fights back and gets annihilated (OK, that part isn't THAT bad)
- China/Russia/muslims moving in on us in a big way and being catered to.
-sharia law pockets All over the country, not just dearbornistan, Mi.
- nothing on TC anymore but overly tattoed loser reality shows
- dude - people like kim kardashian are already role models, heavily supported by the pop culture money people.
- Everything going the way of incompetent, pathetic federal programs and organizations that cost a million times what they are worth even if they worked.
- customer service will be a bygone concept.
- human intelligence replaced by smartphone apps.
- Need I go On ! ;-)

Holy sheet Kid....is it that bad bud??

Is it? Man...I just don't know what the ultimate catalyst is going to be to swing that pendulum full force the other way.

Tell ya right now...Pelosi has more balls than JB....a clown a wimp and a serious doucebag. Is that the best we have have? That a hag like her gets more attention to her unnerving idiocy and quavering voice than 82% of the sane public?

And why are we even catering to "minorities"?

Kid said...

IMP, yea john boener is a serious POS crybaby.

Man couldn't say it any better than that - that that old hag moron pelosi has more balls than he does. Good Lord!

We're catering to minorities and all the rest of what doesn't work, because the Children are in charge. And are the voting majority.

We are on a path and it isn't going to change until the children all have bottoms as red as tomatoes. And that's not going to happen until it all falls apart. Like Greece.

I really do think things are going to get bad, and I believe the pace will go parabolic/exponential.

We're all happy right now but incompetence, pathological lying, and massive corruption and thievery can't be in charge this long without the hammer coming down is my Solid belief.
And some serious effects of oblammycare are to be implemented in the next couple years. We ain't seen nothing yet. Though the democrats may even back off of some of that. They probably thought the repubs would be in charge and they could blame it all on them.

But yea, the repubs need to just stand down, vote present and go on TV every week and tell the nation that the democrats are fully in charge now - they won't stand in the way of the voters decision. The dems fully own the country and the situation now,

They have nothing to gain with all this fake resistance.

You are so right! Why is it so hard to understand? What really concerns me is, as and when we fall apart "Like Greece", where will anyone go? The re-election of the Fraud-in-Chief seals the fact that we are DONE!

JonBerg said...

I just had a second thought about Greece. That Country has sustained itself as a sovereign nation as long or longer than any other nation in Europe and as such it may have the ability to turn itself around a lot quicker than the very younger and bigger mess that we face. Just a thought.

Well, I don't live to see it I don't think, but there will be places to go. Someone is always cycling up while others are cycling down. Ultimately, the country just becomes the new normal for our kids and their kids and it goes until it blows - revolution and all that.

I was a little overboard with my earlier predictions, had a whole day of libtardedness and some steam escaped.
