Sunday Faith Blog

"The time has come to turn to God and reassert our trust in Him for the healing of America....  Our country is in need of and ready for a spiritual renewal."  Ronald Reagan.

If he only knew how much we need it today.   Please pray that we can get back to the goodness of God in our country.  Please pray that people will stop pushing God out of the public square.  Only until then will we truly heal.

"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful." Hebrews 10:23 Have a great Sunday.....please ponder the quotes above....our country is so truly lost; 2013 will be a turning point. Z

Now is the time, more than ever, to speak up in the public marketplace.

Amen to that Z
I pray along with you that the American people will wake up and see the light.

If the country is lost why would we wish to follow a right wing that has had us wandering in the wilderness for over 30 years?

Z said...

Lady, I appreciate that so much.

SF...I think so, too. Sadly, the leftwing will only mock more and more and that hurts our young people...but I do think folks are kind of waking up to faith again.

I watched a rerun of Piers Morgan last night ..channel surfed into seeing Rick Warren, whom I'm not always a huge fan of but I sure admired him last night. He just plain sticks to his guns and makes sense. Good arguments.

Dude....thanks ..

Ducky, wandering in the wilderness? no.
And we're not talking about following any wing here, we're talking about faith and that's not political. To suggest all Christians are Republicans is short sighted and uninformed.

We can no more push God out of the public square than we can push him out of our schools.

The choice to give one's life to Jesus and make Him Lord is a decision shaped by many things.

Historically the seeds of that decision have been planted and watered by a persons family and his or her church community.

If and when people see the Christian community deciding to live more like Jesus and take His teachings seriously, then i believe more people will make that decision to follow him.

Z - We do need God in our country -and the least we can do is write about it on our blogs - like yours today.

Have a great Sunday - Z.

That's not wandering Ducky. It's trying to maneuver around the pitfalls, potholes, and roadblocks put in by the left.

Less God = More Government; an equation for disaster!

Ed Bonderenka said...

I just realized that when Israel asked God for a king (and He gave them Saul), they were asking for Big Government! And this was opposed to God's plan for them.
God wants men free from Big Government so that they can respond to Him.

Dave, maybe you haven't notice that it IS happening. Or maybe you haven't noticed kids raised in good Christian homes go to college and become secularists with even a disdain for all faith. And, of course, much of that's due to the indoctrination I personally know of...If you haven't noticed, I find you a very lucky man.
God will ALWAYS overcome; I think our world would be a better place if we not only become better people, and not only spread the Word through our actions, but we fought to keep God in the American public square ... it worked for years. It isn't now.
Many will be disposing of their HOLIDAY TREE this week. for example

Ed, I think that's exactly true.

JB...well said.

Z, how I pray for what you've spoken of in this post.

Without God, there is no hope for anything.

Ed Bonderenka, what you said reminded me of scripture that I came across several weeks ago, and one that I keep remembering, because it is so thought provoking:

6 But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to judge us.” So Samuel prayed to the Lord.
7 And the Lord said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.
8 According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt, even to this day—with which they have forsaken Me and served other gods—so they are doing to you also.
9 Now therefore, heed their voice. However, you shall solemnly forewarn them, and show them the behavior of the king who will reign over them.”

10 So Samuel told all the words of the Lord to the people who asked him for a king.
11 And he said, “This will be the behavior of the king who will reign over you: He will take your sons and appoint them for his own chariots and to be his horsemen, and some will run before his chariots.
12 He will appoint captains over his thousands and captains over his fifties, will set some to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and some to make his weapons of war and equipment for his chariots.
13 He will take your daughters to be perfumers, cooks, and bakers.
14 And he will take the best of your fields, your vineyards, and your olive groves, and give them to his servants.
15 He will take a tenth of your grain and your vintage, and give it to his officers and servants.
16 And he will take your male servants, your female servants, your finest young men, and your donkeys, and put them to his work.
17 He will take a tenth of your sheep. And you will be his servants.
18 And you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, and the Lord will not hear you in that day.”

19 Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, “No, but we will have a king over us,
20 that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.”
I Samuel 8:6-20

I pray that we never, as a nation actually reach the point where the Lord will not hear us.

Z said...

Jan, that's extremely powerful, isn't it. I remember reading that and thinking "Uh oh!"

How the Lord hears us now is way beyond my comprehension (it's enough to make you an atheist!!! :=), with the types of television, the types of greed and lies from our gov't and others, etc etc etc...we could do a list a mile long, couldn't we........

And yet, there are those who'll say we're elitist, noninclusive, stupid and weak for having faith, for talking like we are.

For their sakes, it's enough to hope we're wrong.

Pris said...

We have to hope that others don't deny us the right to believe, but if they do, we have to be strong enough to stand with God regardless of what others say, or think.

I pray for Divine Intervention. That somehow, HE will shine through to those who are lost.

Pris,

It seems that "Divine Intervention" is about all we have left to hope for!

Z said...

Pris, beautifully said.

JB...you bet.

Tolstoy said "It is within my power either to serve God or not to serve him. Serving him, I add to my own good and the good of the whole world. Not serving Him, I forfeit my own good and deprive the world of that good which was in my power to create."

It's a better world with God.

All perfectly true, but at the same time we'd do well to think and pray each for a clearer understanding of precisely who and what God is -- or at the very least what He means to us, personally --, and how He ought to influence the decisions we make and the actions we take.

Reading the Bible is worthy. Learning how to paraphrase what we read from the Bible (a very challenging task!) is even more helpful in developing spiritual awareness.

Somewhere in the Scriptures it advises us:

"Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind ..."

The best possible advice -- if we learn how properly to take it.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Love from,

When push comes to shove, God is going to win every time. Until we get a grasp of how The Lord works (down through the ages, we SHOULD HAVE just an inkling of an idea by now) we're going to be the ones that are going to be pushed out of the public square... which is happening right now. Talk about a "time to come to Jesus," I would say we're WAY OVERDUE.
