You choose

If you could be anybody who ever lived, living today or already dead............who would it be?

And why?

:-)  Thanks!

I'd still be me.
I don't want anyone else's wife or lose the one I have.

I wish I were a little rock
A sittin' on a hill
A doin' nothin'
All day long
But just a sittin' still.

I wouldn't eat.
I wouldn't sleep.
I wouldn't even wash.
I'd sit and sit
A thousand years
And rest, myself,
By Gosh!

I'm not sure that I want to be anyone else, but living HERE might be nice.

All I can think of is the, volumonous and growing, list of those who I wouldn't want to be! Of incalcuable magnitude, the list includes all forthcoming generations.

Z - Marie Curie. Because she was the first woman professor in Paris and she won two Nobel Peace prizes.

She was smart!

Whoops! But I am not. They were not Peace Prizes. They were for science - one was chemistry and I forget what the other one was.

I'm content in being me! I had wonderful parents, and family. I've had a happy life, with my dear Mr. Pris, two loving children and grandson.
What more could I ask for?

Sue, good answer.

These ALL ARE....except the 'little rock,' but I think I know FT well enough to know what he means!

Can Somebody... your response is powerful. what a wonderful uncle you had! Was that in Germany, or Austria? France?

Ed, I felt that way when Mr. Z was alive; I couldn't be anyone but his wife so I couldn't be anyone else! Now, I'm not sure who I'd have been; I'm going to think about this and get back to you!

Looking Back in Anger....that's an adorable avatar and excellent and very sad comment!

AOW...I never wanted to live in a huge mansion. I'm a 'cozy' girl, but I sure do think that's beautiful!

Jon Berg..sad, isn't it? Ya, who wants to inherit THIS MESS Obama's leaving our future?

Z said...

Ah Pris, but I thought it would be fun to pick a person or two we thought enough of to BE! :-)

You'd have been someone VERY SMART, that is FOR SURE...you can't get rid of that good mind of yours!!

Just for a lark, Jean-Luc Godard.

I would have enjoyed being the head rule breaker back in a time "When Movies Mattered" as David Kehr's book describes.

I don't think I would have fought it out with Truffaut, however.

I would like to have been Solomon Cuthner, the extraordinarily great British concert pianist whose accomplishments as an interpreter of Beethoven and Brahms have rarely been equalled and never been excelled. The trouble with Solomon's life is that he had a severe paralytic stroke at the height of his career, and had to live out the remainder of his days unable to play at all -- a terrible tragedy for him -- and for the concert going public.

I might honestly prefer to be either Dietrich Fischer Dieskau, Gerard Souzay, Thomas Allen, or Bryn Terfel -- all of them superbly gifted as interpreters of German Lieder and French Art Songs, and with the possible exception of Souzay equally at home in the opera house.

Fischer-Dieskau had a splendid career, was highly respected, greatly loved and lived into his late eighties.

It would have been great to be Winston Churchill too, I think. What a remarkable guy he was, and he lived into his nineties -- at Chartwell -- one of the most beautiful -- and most livable -- of all the great country houses in England.

But, when all is said and done, I really do like being me.

Z. I do understand the fun it would be, and I did think about it. I just couldn't think of anyone I'd rather be.

And thank you Z, for your kind words!

I don't want to be anyone else than who I am. However, I would love to have some talks with George Washington, Robert E Lee, Abraham Lincoln, and a couple of my ancestors. I think they could benefit from my perspective.

Tell us, CSPETLM, which would prefer to be. Your uncle? Or one of the people he helped by hiding them?

I think I would have liked being one of the 300 Spartans at Thermopylae. Except for the dying part.

Neil Armstrong, definitely.

Or maybe Neil Peart...
