Animal House without the animals?

Some people are upset about 'faith based' dorms at public colleges.

What strikes me is how those who don't mind, and even celebrate, housing for boys and girls on the same floor, sharing showers, and "hooking up rooms" for sex have such a problem about allowing housing for kids who don't feel comfortable with all of that.
There is no restriction on what religion the kids must be to live in the faith based dorms; and they don't even have to have religious beliefs, but one restriction is that alcohol is forbidden.

So, it's a kind of refuge from the "Animal House" kind of living going on in so many dorms throughout our universities and the Freedom From Religion Foundation is particularly upset.
I'm thinking some might want to start a Freedom From Bad Behavior Foundation and supporting faith based dorms is an encouraging start.

Do you have a problem with dormitories where kids don't have to be exposed to the kinds of things we've all heard are going on in coed dorms today?   And do you think there's a conflict for these new dorms just because they're at public colleges?

What do you think?

" Freedom From Religion Foundation—a group in Madison, Wis.,"
is the FFRF -communist oriented ?

Ahh Wis- the home of the communist--John Dewey--who wrote the plan to overtake our once excellent Ed System--

Wis never quits-

The dorms are privately funded- so-
commies- leave them alone!!

Dewey is from Vermont. Apparently you know as much about his life as you do about his philosophy.

That said, I can understand these students wanting to be in a shared lifestyle dorm, it's not uncommon. I wouldn't oppose it but I do wonder why there is so much drinking on campus when most of the drunks are under age.

You know, just because people reach the age of majority does not mean that they are mature, responsible people no longer in need of a guiding hand. Arranging for “hook up rooms” that facilitates the fulfillment of carnal desires is not very responsible, if you ask me.

Will these colleges and universities accept responsibility for unwanted pregnancies and socially transmitted disease, or last minute rapes? Of course not.

Our conversation should be about how we can manage to increase the number of faith-based dorms, not debating whether such dorms violates anyone’s perceived right to low behavior.

Z - When I was in college we had all women and all men dorms. It was only after I left that dorms became co-ed. So I'm for the old-fashioned way. And what's this about faith based dorms. Is there no end to these dorm situations?

I've worked in higher-ed for twenty odd years and I can attest to the fact that college students are not adults. They're children without adequate supervision.

Hey, I am all for separate dorms for the genders. If a guy wants to date a girl, there should be a waiting area so the creep can be checked out by a 60 yr old virgin witch like it use to be.

Coed dorms are an invitation to rape.

"Coed dorms are an invitation to rape."

And you think all male dorms are not?

How naive!

Hi Nick.
Thanks for telling me how stupid you think I am, having never met me.
How smart you must be!

Ed, I think that while you were commenting, I was flushing Nick into that black hole we call progressivism. I'm sure it isn't Nick's fault, however. He was raised by morons and attended a moron generating facility (American high school).

FROM Z AT WORK!:

Mustang email me what nonsense "Nick" sent. I'd LOVE to hear another "progressive" who has no problem with the craziness of sex in hallways and "Hooking" rooms at coed dorms, but will fight to make SURE no dorms where decent kids can just live peaceful lives and STUDY and shower in peace. ;-) Gad, aren't leftwingers so 'enlightened'?
It's all about DIVERSITY and ENTITLEMENT until it's something they don't agree with.

more later!

Ah, here's Nick's remark Mustang so kindly sent to me via email...at least here's some of it:

"And I don't see anything the like the contempt expressed by liberals towards conservatives."

Nick's probably a good guy, his comment wasn't too vile, but REALLY? :-) He doesn't see contempt for conservatives like the contempt we feel for liberals?

What does one SAY to that?

Nick, thanks for coming by but Mustang was right in deleting your comment. First, we don't like too much OFF TOPIC commenting here, and, secondly, REALLY?>? You REALLY need to visit leftwing blogs when Cheney is sick, for example. Or every day...why wait for a tragedy that befalls a conservative to hear lefties saying "He deserves to DIE?"
Why wait till someone like that dear young Tony Snow dies and the Huffington Post CRASHES under the weight of celebrating liberals?

And, Nick, the reason we don't like liberals is WHAT THEY"VE DONE TO THIS COUNTRY. That's all...no biggie :-)

Mustang, sorry..I'll NEVER do this again and I appreciate your having deleted Nick, but this was just too rich to pass up.

Not having a dorm for normal students,
give the Liberal Bully's their avenue to corrupt the normal, ah, yes, the easy mark--those young minds away from mom and dad for the first time---yea Easy Targets for the Progressive Agenda.
That's why the Libs get upset when they are cut off at the pass.

There's a lot of contempt.

It is worthwhile to go back to christian soldier's assessment of John Dewy for some understanding.

We get the usual "communist" tag when in fact Dewey was opposed to both Stalin and Marx. He advocated a democratic institutions that struck a balance between society and the individual. Pretty sensible, I especially like the way he brought this thought to the arts.
But as much as you have decried the complete rift in American society you will continue to call a gifted thinker like Dewey, who advocated for democratic unity, a communist.

And it's not only out of ignorance but because only a complete acceptance of a reactionary laissez-faire/evangelical culture is acceptable to the contemporary right wing.
Thankfully, that isn't going to happen.

The evil has somehow been able to cause the virtuous to be uncomfortable with their beliefs and values.
There are a number of reasons for it 1) main part of our enemies agenda called demoralization 2) the participants love the idea that they can make the majority of the population feel uncomfortable and as a result bend to their leanings without any knowledge of the agenda.

It is time they told the fringe groups to FO in very certain terms.
Period.
Someone doesn't want to be religious I don't care if they walk down the street with a banner that says the Bible is a fairy tale. Phase level: zero.
I expect the same level of tolerance from any and every other fringe/minority group. I Don't Care What You Do. Don't feel the need to tell me about it or try to get the government to try to force me to like you. I either do or don't and ultimately, who cares anyway?

From Wikipedia.
Bore someone else, Ducky.
No wonder you admire this guy.

Kid...bravo "The evil has somehow been able to cause the virtuous to be uncomfortable with their beliefs and values."

MY GOD, did you come up with that?? It's absolutely PERFECTLY right; I wish I'd said it the way you did in so few words.
