I was driving to lunch with a friend when I noticed a brand spanking new silver pick-up truck in front of me (I guess they still call this kind of truck with a 'bed' open area in the back a pick-up truck?) I was in what we in my neck of the woods call "The People's Republic of Santa Monica".
VETERANS FOR McCAIN, the bumper sticker said on this truck right in front of me. Okay, I thought...you need to turn right soon to get to the restaurant on Wilshire Boulevard, so you might as well turn here and you can sidle up to the right side of that truck before you turn and let this driver know how you feel about his bumper sticker. WHY NOT?
SO, I pulled to his side and hoped that he wouldn't take off and cross the street at the stop sign before I got there and that his window was rolled down. He was still there when I got next to him and the window was down! Two young people in their mid twenties were in the cab of the truck.
"I love your bumper sticker! Good for you for having the courage to have this on your truck in Santa Monica!" The gorgeous young girl in the passenger seat smiled down on me and and said "You BET we're for McCain!!" I said "Well, it's just great that you've got that sticker on your truck and that you're not both over fifty!" (Z: I have a tendency to think the older, wiser people are more on board with the Right candidate, don't you!? Those farther from school indoctrination?) She said "NO problem!! Isn't that COOL that he's got it on the truck? And he's a tattoo'd HUNK, too!" I said "YOU ROCK.....we just have to HOPE Obama doesn't get elected because we won't recognize this great country anymore if he is!" She said "YOU are so right!" and we all laughed and waved and we went our separate ways.
I'm still smiling. In the People's Republic, I might as well have run into a straight Boy Scout helping an old lady cross the street. Oops...around here, they'd probably say "age challenged, not old. My apologies."

This is how I feel while being in Charlottesville, the Demokratik People's Republic in central Virginia.

That's the RULE rather than the exception in my neck of the woods, but the fact that all of this took place in Soviet Monica is WONDERFUL!
Steve I know what you're saying about those Volvos! They are majority Dems. Now the Subarus are 100% driven by lefties and lesbians with the blue and yellow = signs. I had NO idea what those = signs meant until I ran into my 10th or 11th one and noticed they were all dykeified. :-)

I've lived in Santa Monica AND Santa Cruz. It was absolutely horrible. Finally, I am living in a balanced place, where you can actually hear both sides of an issue represented.

I've seen two guys wearing Obama t-shirts now. One tonight at Bob's Market in Santa Monica; and one last weekend at work.
This morning on my street, I discovered a car in the neighborhood with a McCain bumpersticker. There's another one down the block a way, along with a McCain sign hanging out the window.
I have a feeling there are a number of closet McCain conservative supporters who don't advertise their support like the Obama believers do.

There are quite a few McCain signs in yards around town. Of course, this is where the old folks live.
I got McCain-Palin stickers today. I stick mine with scotch tape on the inside of my car rear window, facing out of course.
I figure that way it can't be torn off. Where I live, about 20 miles away from Z, in So. Cal. I've seen one Obama sticker and no McCain ones.
I'm hoping to start a trend. I got ten stickers and keep them in my car so that if I run into anyone who wants one I have them handy.
I did this four years ago and was able to give them all out.

Considering the track record of shootings, firebombings, and vandalism of Republican campaign precincts around the country in the 2002, 2004, and 2006 election cycles, including property damage of homes with Republican candidate yard signs, it's easy to see we live in a country where prosecuting leftists for anti-Republican hate crimes would only trigger "Constitutional" protections for the philosophically insipid.
If you can afford the 24-hour security involved in keeping non-leftist political symbols safe from the vandalism of a leftist's inherent violent urge to change people who disagree into dead people, go for it.
If you can't, why risk the tires on your car being slashed?

That's great to hear, z. The news must be eeking out somehow despite the MSM. We conservatives might have to work overtime, but we're determined to do whatever we can to make sure the truth gets out.
You'd be surprised how many pockets of conservatism I hear about from my children & their friends.
My own daughter has a McCain sticker on her car & sees others in the lot at her college. One of her best friends, who lives on campus, put up a McCain sign on her 3rd story window & received an egging for her trouble. Her roommate suggested scraping it off & having it for breakfast.
So, there is hope for these kids. Many of them buck the teachers & the professors in class.
Remember they saw 9/11 happen before their eyes and many ran to serve their country.

Get THIS! A conservative friend of mine emailed "we are supporting Obama this time, Z" I was bereft. I'd sent her an email about how dangerous it is for Reps to have McCain signs, etc., SHE TELLS ME that some home with OBAMA got egged or TP'd and THE PAPER IN THE PALISADES wrote about it.
AS IF. ONE DAMNED HOUSE of a Dem gets it, and THE PAPER REPORTS! THAT IS SO DISHONEST. it's SO slanted and just plain STUPID and THEY KNOW IT, the editors, etc., but they're so blinded......
