What's profoundly sad is that the Left, the champion of debauchery which never criticizes any of the unwed celeb teen mothers and even writes television and film to encourage this behavior, will now be mocking and scoffing the Palin daughter, Bristol. (They'd already started in the rumors about the baby, Trig; you've all seen that. Ducky even left droppings here at geeeeZ)
Does a media which seems to revel in 'alternate lifestyles' and teen sex have the guts to criticize? May this be yet another chance for their hypocrisy to be outed.
I wish the family well, and I hope Sarah Palin comes out just a bit tougher on this behavior than she has today. *Here's my question: How does it look to American teens, and how tough SHOULD Palin get, straddling that line of support for her dear daughter and disagreement with the choice her daughter made so American kids don't (yet again, based on our societal heroes) get the impression "See? Even this woman's daughter had unmarried sex and got pregnant and everything's just FINE!"

Well, I'd say they "KNOW EACH OTHER" pretty darned well, that's 'how well'!? And maybe they'd have done better with a bit less privacy? But, that's only me!

I agree I'd like to hear her be less accepting of this event, although of course in the end she has no choice. Unless of course she wants to disown her daughter, and in a tougher time people did do that. But that wouldn't make her any more popular either. Back to Palin, I know I sound like a COMPLETE prude and I really have no right to (trust me), but I do fear for Western society when I see so MANY couples making the choice not to commit to EACH OTHER but to commit to having a child. Seems odd and dangerous to me on many levels.
It'll be REAL interesting to see how Palin handles this. I'll never turn off of her because I admire her platform and viewpoints so much (I don't judge people on personal stuff and criticize as much as Ducky does, for example, outing and attacking at every chance), but this would tarnish some of my joy, I have to admit, that is if she doesn't get a little tougher, send a bit tougher message to young men and women, I'd be very sorry for an aborted opportunity (so to speak) (!)

First, I didn’t realize the daughter was a vice presidential nominee … otherwise, how is this situation even relevant. Second, among all those who scoff … feel free to caste the stone if you are without sin or having ever made a mistake. Last, there is a point in time when teenagers have to account for their mistakes; this is certainly one but I hardly think it is appropriate to blame the parents. Now, with all that said, my paternal grandmother was married at age 15, and had her first child when she was sixteen, her second a year or so later. It was a common situation in the not too distant past … so why the “shock?” What is new about sexually active teenagers? Or is this only an issue when the children of Christian/Republican/White parents become pregnant teenagers?

I don't care if they were socialists, it's a good thing to remember, every day, our love of country and to pledge allegiance to it. The really interesting irony is that this is something that MIGHT help us FROM the socialism of Obama and his "distribution of wealth" stuff. I like the irony. This is the story that belongs on the front page. I couldn't even find it in my local paper.
No, it's about a teenage girl who's pregnant. Who no doubt, is suffering at being the brunt of such vicious reporting.
Perhaps the one thing Sarah Palin wasn't prepared for is just how virulent is the compulsion of the media with the left, for absolute destruction of human beings who stand in the way of their power. Even 17 year old girls.

I have nothing at all against Sarah Palin, except her glasses, her current hairdo, and her fashion sense–––all of which is admittedly superficial. Nevertheless, I think it's inane for a woman of beauty to DOWNPLAY her God-given assets in order to give herself a misguided aura of "GRAVITAS." That TOO is a form a fakery.
On a brighter note, Mrs. Palin is NOT not her daughter, and we know for sure that SHE did not get her daughter PREGNANT. LOL!
Only if turns out that MR. Palin–––or one of the grandfathers–––or John McCain–––got the girl pregnant would we have a REAL problem.

I too am sorry this subject has to be discussed at ALL. I happen to think that sex is nobody's business except that of the individuals directly involved and whatever children may arrive as a result.

I think most of our opinions are valid and instructive..
The whole thing should be a private matter, but I'll just say again that to ignore it totally makes it seem like the commonplace and it might be, but it should not be.
That our kids are inundated with sex and drugs and shallow choices is more the point, I guess.

So the girl is pregnant. Sex happens. How the couple and the extended family deal with this pregnancy is what counts. And Sarah Palin is handling it with class and compassion.
Even Billy Graham once said that he would have a difficult time being celibate in today's world. It's unfortunate but good can come of it.
Well...you all may not like it but the fact is that MANY American families, including Christian families are in this same situation EVERY year...AND, I do NOT think that Gov Palin OR her husband and daughter need to be USED to further some lesson to the teens or the parents of teens on how to deal with this issue. It's a private family issue, they ARE getting married, and frankly it has NOTHING remotely to do with Palin's example to the country or it's teens OR more importantly her ability to do the job of VP..none.
I think people who would make it an issue about whether or not they could support her, the same people who refused to support Romney for being a Mormon are the reason our party is at risk of losing this election...none of it has to do with her doing the job...
so, why is it EVEN in the headlines? Because LIBS think that Christians 'wont' stand for it'...and those who wont' are the reason they continue to throw these things out there...ugh. It's truly infuriating.

I mostly agree with you but I will say we might expect more from the VP candidate, someone in such a limelight; I do think what she says will be important in how the nation's kids cope with this information and how parents will talk to their kids.
