25 ARRESTED at Conservative Meeting....uhoh!

HERE is an article for which YAHOO created this headline:

25 arrested at California conservative meeting

What did I think when I opened my homepage this morning and saw that headline? I thought "Wow, 25 Conservatives did WHAT at a meeting which would get them arrested, and oh, BROTHER, the media will LOVE this....let me click on the link and see what happened".........

Well, it turns out, if you read the link, you'll see the "25 arrested" were OUTSIDE the meeting, protesting the meeting...............Here is the last sentence of the article I linked above "Sunday was the second day of the four-day conclave. It was organized by brothers David and Charles Koch, who have funded the fight against global warming laws and have financial ties to tea party groups."

How did YOU read that headline above?   Didn't you think it was Conservatives arrested, too?

Ducky, you can post again without the name calling. Thanks!
Oh, and please read the link..it helps before commenting.

lol!
AP Reporters Rick and Renault must be at it again.

Another dog bites man story made to appear otherwise.

My interpretation was that 25 individuals had been arrested likely protesting the conservative meeting.

The yahoo news article doesn't give much details. Very misleading in its content too. Where can we find more about the incident?

"It was organized by brothers David and Charles Koch, who have funded the fight against global warming laws and have financial ties to tea party groups."

The Koch brothers play the game with the best of them. They're not libertarians and the policies that they've actually supported are evidence of this. They've supported QE by Fed, school voucher programs, homeownership society, privatization of social security, etc.

FB...I just found this and then saw your comment.

See, the problem is that the liberals don't LIKE these people or what they do, so they need to protest and come up with the most heinous-sounding accusations they can possibly think of which coincide with the ridiculous indoctrination our colleges are giving; that way, they get HEARD, the Koch's are demonized, and the left's happy.

There IS NO FREEDOM here anymore, folks.....

Are there NO Liberal groups who meet only FOR THEIR PERSONAL SPECIAL INTERESTS? REALLY? :-) We don't hear much about them, do we! No, we don't........unreal

soapster, hi...not 'likely'...that's exactly what the link said, the HEADLINE looks like conservatives were arrested. That's my point.

Struck a nerve, eh z.

It's interesting that you apparently care more about a few demonstrators arrested for protesting than just what was going on in the Koch Bros. meeting and their ties with Scalia and Thomas. Judges addressing a meeting of people who have business before the bench and all you care about is the wording of a byline?

Not that anyone expects the right to be inquisitive.

"They echoed concerns of President Obama, who has criticized a group that David Koch helped form, Americans for Prosperity. The president cited AFP as an example of special-interest money that poured into last year's campaigns after the high court decision. AFP had said it planned to spend $40 million in 2010 campaigns."

Z; WOW, I WONDER IF THE PRESIDENT QUESTIONS THE UNIONS WHO POURED MONEY INTO HIS COFFERS, TOO...
UM...WHAT ABOUT ACORN?$$$$$$ :-)
WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THAT? OH, IT DIED BECAUSE THE MEDIA WON'T REVEAL ANYTHING ABOUT ANY OF THEIR CASES....TYPICAL

"This month, the watchdog group Common Cause delivered a letter to the Justice Department saying that Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas should have disqualified themselves from the Citizens United case if they had taken part in a meeting the Kochs sponsored. A Supreme Court spokesman said neither justice participated in the meeting but said Thomas "dropped by."

Z; SCALIA WASN'T THERE AND THOMAS DROPPED BY...GOOD FOR HIM. HE'S ENTITLED.

THE HYPOCRISY OF THE LEFT IS STUNNING....BUT WE DON'T HEAR MOST OF WHAT'S GOING ON, THEY'RE SAFE; AND STILL THEY'RE NOT ABOVE NAME CALLING.

"soapster, hi...not 'likely'...that's exactly what the link said, the HEADLINE looks like conservatives were arrested. That's my point."

And you are apparently missing my point. I don't read 25 arrested at Conservative Meeting and think that conservatives were the ones that were arrested.

I read 25 arrested at Conservative Meeting and think to myself "oh maybe some code pink folks showed up to raise hell at something or another. How you conclude the headline sounds like Conservatives were the ones arrested is beyond me.

As to Ducky's point, Ducky does catch alot of hell around here (some warranted and some clearly not) he's definitely on to something here with his latest post.

In a purely free-market I'd say yeah...go do your thing Koch brothers. However, we don't have a free-market economy and we have undoubtedly drifted that much further from having anything representative of it. Koch brothers supported the Fed's QE plans...hmmmm that doesn't sound very "Tea partyish" or very "liberty" minded. What could be behind that??.....hmmmm....ah how about the fact that QE causes the price of commodities (oil being one of them) to go higher. Thus, the Koch brothers get a higher price for their good (an artificially manipulated one at that).

Two wolves in sheep's clothing I'm afraid.

Corruption is fine when it works for our side,
but a crime when it works for someone else's.

Each side feels that way, and each side is wrong.

That's all there is to it.

Z said...

thanks, Soapster...I disagree about the headline, but that's fine.
My whole point was the media bias.

Good to get into it here and agree with Ducky; we need more conversation with someone who'll argue his side without his name calling or other commenters' silly criticism.
I'm not arguing the contents of the meeting... but you're more than welcome to do so.

My whole point is media hypocrisy; if others don't see it, normally on any other subject, I'd say "to each his own"...on liberal media bias? you'd be insane not to see it and it needs to be noted; hence this post.

Thanks for coming by

cwhiatt said...

Quite honestly I don't bother with the whole media bias nonsense myself but if others are want to engage in the discussion then by all means.

CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS....

It's all bias. What's laughable be to me is this idea that FOX News is somehow this objective alternative. I guess if you're comparing it against MSNBC then yeah...it sort of is but in reality it's sort of like comparing a Braeburn Apple to a Granny Smith or a Gala or a Golden Delicious apple.

It's all corporatist/fascist blather. The corporations buy up the newspapers and media outlets and in turn the mouthpieces shill for the companies and corporate interests. Hardly objective and fully statist.

There are good, objective, and credible independent news sources out there. So much in fact that corporate mainstream news has become obsolete.

Z said...

soapster, FOX isn't perfect...I watch everything. But, the only place I ever get more than the Liberal or Conservative side only IS FOX, interestingly enough. That's why I say it's less biased. They have many Liberal consultants on every single day, every single hour, and I think that's important....I want to know the other side, we all should.

Listeners to the news VOTE. Media does count.

Z said...

the headline's still up even tho others have changed since it first was posted...
and we think this isn't intentional? :-)

Thanks for clarifying Z. It is indeed about poor and misleading, propagandist reporting.

LSD missed the point of your post since his hatred drives his analysis.

I'd be curious to see how many union people were in there to denounce 'corporate greed'. Because we all know very well that unions are not greedy at all but are quite generous. Which is why some of them are asking to be exempted from healthcare reform.

God, the level of intellectual dishonesty will never cease to amaze me.

Z said...

Um Soapster....WHAT? OF COURSE they KNOW that, that's why they twist and keep truth from the public...that's MY POINT, practically the point of my whole blog. :-)
That's why I think it's important to hear all sides, not just lib CNN or ultra lib MSNBC or supposedly only-Conservative FOX. We need to get as much as we can thru the internet, too, of course.

FB...you're welcome. and OH brother, you're so right. Corporate Greed, apparently, only includes Republicans (smile) ...another part of the GREAT LIE is that the Conservatives are the richest when it's quite the opposite.
Heck, I keep referring back to that 3/5 compromise....profs are STILL teaching that was against the slaves and they know the facts!! MAN!!!

That headline read just the way they intended. Twist the news any way that suits them.

Z said...

glad you saw it that way, too, silvrlady..it's STILL up in another manifestation.....
how important a story was it that Yahoo STILL has it on their headline page?

thank God for the Blogs-or we would still be stuck w/ the MSM lies and obfuscation...
Z-do you still read a paper LA Times?!!!

Z said...

Hi, CS! Are you kidding? NEVER.
I have neighbors who provide me with the Crossword puzzles from Thurs thru SUnday...that's as much reading of the LA Times I can stand, tho I hear they're finally starting to feel the pressure and getting some conservative editorials in there again..and even some FAIRLY fair coverage in news articles.. Do you? xxx

Sounds like the only thing they got right was that 25 people were arrested.

Of course that's how I interpreted it. It's by design, but "they" (the MSM) will bat their eyes dumbly & say, "But that's not what we said..." hmmm~
