China Visit: Hu is HERE

HERE is an excellent piece about the visit of the Chinese today in Washington, D.C., a visit filled with visions like that in the image to the right.  Warms your heart, doesn't it?

President Hu was celebrated by the Obama administration with a 21-Gun salute (Bush gave him one, too, by the way) and he had a private "working dinner" (God help us all) with Hillary and Obama and others last night and will be treated to a sparkling, celebrity-attended dinner tonight.  Speeches of welcome this morning immediately put us on a level playing field with China.  The message was that we are no better than they are, apparently;  something I know our leftwingers will be very, very relieved to hear.  The Harvard-elitist bunch are happy, "Hu is on FIRST."

In this short snippet about the visit, we read "In the wake of China's refusal to allow jailed democracy activist Liu Xiaobo to accept the Nobel Peace Prize last fall, Obama is expected to raise human rights concerns in private meetings with Hu. The issue also is likely to come up in a joint news conference today."   Since Obama very subtly mentioned human rights in his welcoming words, I can see what's happening;   he is impressing Americans with his tough stand on that with China's Hu while selling us out on other fronts.   Wait for the press conferences and let's see how much they emphasize human rights.  I have to admit, with the trouble America's in now, with the huge debt to China, with the way China's insulted us on our last visit there, I don't give a rat's poop about their human rights.  Let's get our country fixed, let's put a 25% tax on China's goods as Donald Trump suggests, and THEN, when we're happy and we're the great world power again, let's tick them off by giving them only a luncheon instead of a dinner (like Bush did), and then let's slam China for their human rights horrors.   As IF they're going to change their ways after Obama gets through with them on this trip?  REALLY? :-)  "Okay, we'll give you a trillion dollars more and we won't kill that human rights guy in our jail...you happy?"

By the way, here's the AP's take :  "WASHINGTON – When Hu Jintao makes what is likely his final trip to Washington as China's president, he will get an honor he desperately wanted but was denied during his first visit nearly five years ago: a White House state dinner.
Symbolism and protocol are very important to the Chinese and the opulence of Wednesday's black-tie affair with President Barack Obama should be plenty satisfying for Hu, a 67-year-old hydroelectric engineer who has ruled the country since 2002. That could help relations between the leaders of the world's two largest economies"   Apparently, a dinner is going to help relations with China?  Thanks, AP, you show your liberal naivite so glowingly well.  OH, and for those desirous of reading how AP feels Bush goofed up all over the last China visit, read the whole link, you'll enjoy it.

Do I think Obama should be greeting them with no fanfare and giving them bad chop suey for dinner?  NO.  But, there is a tone we USED TO SET which showed who's in charge.   We're NOT in charge anymore, but do we have to display that?

What do you think of all this?

Let's really steam them off and when they boycott the next treasury auction will see if any of the posters here have enough liquidity to cover the note. You know they don't.

Chickens coming home.

Let's have some more of that "free trade".

... although despite needing to recognize the elephant in the room, I'm surprised that so little attention is being paid to Tunisia and the election in Sudan. These have potential to seriously impact Arab dictatorship and it looks as if it's going to be business as usual.

Even though these are instances where we might be able to generate some change. Frankly, my guess is that Tunisia gets a stooge government and that's that.

Will China allow any nasty democracy in southern Sudan to disrupt its oil supply. Stay tuned folks.

I'm not privy to what's going on behind the scenes, but I saw a photo of BO half-bowing to Hu. It spoke volumes to me.

Ducky ask: Will China allow any nasty democracy in southern Sudan to disrupt its oil supply?
Dang Duck, this is probably one of the most intelligent post you've put up on Z's Blog.

Actually Duck China was getting a bit tired of the BS war in Sudan which was having a negative effect on their oil supply so they told the Muslim backed band of rabble via Iran, Syria etc to back off or no more nuke information and no more rockets, etc etc. You get the point. As long as Sudan's new democracy doesn't get in the way, which it won't , after all they are dependent on the monies from the oil, China will remain behind the scenes and will probably provide equipment and technology, as they have been doing to insure constant flow of supply.

China needs uranium more than oil, as they want to ween themselves off of fossil fuels and power up with nuclear energy.

In the end, China will do exactly what they've always done, which is precisely what we tell them to do.

We trade with China only because slavery is illegal in America. Their currency is worth only what we say it is worth.

We can afford a bump in product pricing by importing from someone other than China or (gasp) putting people to work in America.

Without trade with America, China loses over 75% of their GDP. They know it, and most importantly, we know it.

When the millions of Californians and Texans combined alone still produce more wealth than China's billion-plus people it's time to put things in perspective.

We say "jump," China says "how high" on the way up.

China wouldn't invest in our treasury bonds if it were a loser investment. They may be preening, docile little idiot leftists, but they know who's shoes to shine.

Hu is SO happy that he got a DINNER instead of a LUNCH...!! AP celebrates that, too, because we hate to deny the Chinese their pomp and ceremony, especially when they're saying this:

How are we shining their shoes? By my math, they paid for the Iraq War. What are they going to do, unbomb Saddam?

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

When you think about, there would be NO comments on this blog if it wasn't for China.

Where do you think computers come from?

Beamish, how come you're the ONLY person with your point of view? I find that weird.

Common Sense...we could make pretty good damned computers here, too, trust me.

Ducky, when you can stop insulting, you're back. Until then, stop wasting your time and ours. thanks.

The 'bow' should show up on You Tube at some point so we all can see how stupid & subservient BO is.

That's what happens when someone has the money.

We're slaves to China now. That's the fault of citizens and politicians.

Unless we fix the debt, we have to get use to this ass kissing.

I sent a set of plans to Highpoint, NC. Highpoint is the finest furniture manufacturers in the USA. I wanted to get some quotes on a four drawer dresser we were bringing into our new line of furniture.
The sample they sent back was junk and had a price of $339.00 each and that didn't include packaging or shipping to our warehouse. We went to many US manufacturers and it was always the same, junk.
I sent the same plans to China and they sent us a perfect, top quality sample. The price? $79.00 and it included packaging. Only problem was we needed to purchase a container full, we did and sold out within one week.

I would have liked to have them made here. This is why companies go to China. It's a no brainer.

i'm going to agree with beamish on this one - to a point. with obama and his ilk in charge, we are not making the point that we are in charge. so hu and his cronies believe (and to some extent rightfully so) they can tell US how high to jump.

as for the dollar being a thing of the past, maybe so - i mean it's not tied to a gold standard or even a silver or copper standard. perhaps the british pound should be the standard for the world...

and common sense - computers are assembled and produced in china, korea, taiwan anywhere we can use their slave labor. computers, however, come from US.

z, any word on what is the proper key for kum-bay-ah to fix the issues between us and china?

Because China's "dictatorship of the proletariat" can't even afford to buy their kids the Legos they make.

They're a useful packet of soy sauce at the buffet table.

Successful American diplomacy comes from strength, not relativism. As the liberal state department silences China watchers who now work in the basement, and as Obama renders subservience to the Great Celestial Empire, China continues to increase the size of its navy and engage in “military assistance” programs in South America, including Venezuela. Their thirst for oil is insatiable; they willing trade strategic weapons for oil and is unapologetic. Our friend Israel sold China stealth technology, which helped them to produce the J-20. Today, Chinese flag officers speak openly about the likelihood of armed conflict with the Americans. Why? For starters, I suggest Taiwan and Vietnam begin conducting pucker-up exercises and Americans ready themselves for a resounding defeat in the South China Sea.

A gold standard would simply serve to extend the length of recessions, not to mention gold would still be valued by other highly fluctuating fiat market forces. And gold is used in industrial and electronic equipment. It's not just "money," it's speaker wire, antenna leads, dental caps, etc.

We'd print less money, but we'd be taking a lot of schtuff to the pawn shops and scrap yards. Totally kill the technology sector.

It takes China close to 200,000 troops to keep Tibet quiet, and most of the people in Tibet are only armed with slingshots.

200,000 troops tied down, for what, over 50 years? Any economic benefits there?

Yes, Chinese militarism is something to watch, but I think there's nothing really there to fear a "military defeat" from. China is economically dead without American trade, and in the worst case scenario Jimmy Carter's second term ends in two years.

Ducky's here said...

Wow, Israel sold China weapons technology? Our "ally"?

Then the pictures of the Israeli missiles on the fighters that captured our observation aircraft in the early days of the Chucklenuts administration were real? Let's send Israel some more welfare checks.

Meanwhile, remember that despite what your civics class taught you, state capitalism is not working for your benefit, nor does it intend to. Clinton was the master of making the suckers smile while they danced to Kapital's tune, Obama is pretty good too. Some socialist.

So they have a big banquet and discuss a few changes to keep the boat afloat for a while longer but if suckers think they are not being bought and sold well ... why has no administration made any effort to resolve this, including Chuckles and Saint Ronnie Raygun.

Two-hundred thousand troops in China is like a squad here in the US. Watch for China to assert itself off the coast of Vietnam—they want the oil. Watch China seize Taiwan. Then watch for the US to lose an aircraft carrier … while Obama apologizes for our arrogance.

Obama has no desire to preserve and protect American interests; therefore, we won't.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

You seem to be taking capitalism's natural lifting of China out of poverty pretty hard there, Ducky. Don't worry, they'll still sell you American flags to burn.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

I get what you're saying Mustang, but I'm looking at the glaring strategic chokepoints over the implications of China consolidation multiple communist governments into one. The boost to China's economy when the Brits handed over Hong Kong won't last forever. I'm not even sure China has a word for "innovation."

The glaring strategic chokepoints are Iran's side of the Persian Gulf and the Horn of Africa. Whoever controls the waters there controls most of the world's oil trade.

And China wants and needs those those open more than we do. We can achieve energy independence. (Drill baby drill). They cannot.

Hence, they paid for the Iraq War, and would likely do so again. They're just trying to diversify their portfolios. The Chinaman not getting anything out of the "new class" at the top will lead a neo-Maoist revolt and they'll go back in the toilet of centrally rationed autarky while the world passes them by, again.

It's why they wince at analysis and criticism. They know we can take 'em out and build another just like 'em - in India, Indonesia, Brazil, Mexico, wherever.

As much as I like to badmouth the inability of leftists to learn anything, Chinese backs are a pretty comfy sidewalk.

God you sound like you need medication on that one. Or a jacket.

Besides, without China, Ducky would have to find another way to subsidize "art."

FrogBurger said...

I wouldn't blame Obama and the lack of courage.

I don't think there's a lot you can do when China is our bank.

Let's say you're broke and you need a loan from your bank, and that's the only one available. Will you lecture them or tell them to piss off? Not really.

So let's fix our debts -- personal, city, state and country wide -- and then we can tell the Chinese to go to hell.

FrogBurger said...

I don't think the dollar is a thing of the past. A global currency has to be stable to be a trading currency. The chinese keep devaluating theirs so it's not a good one to have as an international currency. There's nothing worse than risks associated to conversion rates for international trade.

That's why at some point, a global currency will be put in place. Maybe some are waiting for that. I'm not. The Euro has been a disaster as far as inflation in Europe and cost of living.

CommonSense, that's sad to hear because so many others are fed up with the crap from China. I hear much more the opposite and know that Highpoint still does make excellent furniture (it was my business, too)...sorry you had that experience.
Unions have done this to us here, sadly.....

FB's right: "So let's fix our debts -- personal, city, state and country wide -- and then we can tell the Chinese to go to hell."

Mustang's also right...200K is definitely just a squad in China.

Duck if you had read my series on the Fall of Capitalism in America you would understand that you socialist need our capitalism to fund your socialist programs. When Capitalism stops / fails, then socialism , just as in Russia, will fail as well. Now you know why China will continue to hang around and not disturb democracy and capitalism.

Class dismissed Duck.

FB...So, RED the magic color for you, eh? :-)
I meant it felt a little weird since China is RED CHINA, right? :-)
I'll never forget that they got the Empire State building to glow in red for the celebration of Communism in China. MAN, and in AMERICA?

FrogBurger said...

Funny thing about Red. In France, Red = Communism/Socialism while Blue = Right. Here, Red = GOP.

I like red better, especially crimson red. Beautiful.

FrogBurger said...

Did you see this horrible story about this criminal doctor freak?

Z said...

FB, that is a very terrible story...ugh.

Did you know the Left used to be RED and the GOP Blue but the Left apparently had it changed?
I found this thru Googling, on some site called the ANSWERBAD..it's the closest to the truth I've heard:

GOP campaign posters for most of my life (60s to present) have been blue background, or blue background withe broad horizontal white stripe. Democrat posters were typically red, or red with a white horizontal stripe ... except in the Northeast and Westcoast where in the late 70's and on they opted for green instead of red. The association in the popular mindset was always one of the party of "the true blue" - or "the blue bloods" (depending on your politics and biases) - with all of the conservative associations, while red (until the fall of Communism) and green were associated with Labor/Trade Unionism/Socialistic Policies and Environmentalism respectively. Oddly enough, however, Red was also the prefered color of Southern Democrats as it was the dominant color in the Confederate Flag, and Blue was always associated by them with Yankee uniforms and the Party of Lincoln.

During presidential elections, the 3 big networks would indicate which presidential candidate had won which state by marking it (typically) blue for GOP, red for the Democrat, and white for "winner not determined as yet". For some unfathomable reason, during the 90's, the networks started varying this. Oddly enough, in 2000, the big 3 + Fox all were showing Bush states in red and Gore states in blue. Due to the Florida recounts, the world got to see those maps day in and day out for almost 2 months cementing the terminology of "Blue State" for the Dems and "Red State" for the GOP.

Wow, that is super ODD. Why would some established colors change so much.

Brooke said...

I don't know what to say, Z. The way we deal with China is farcical.

Z said...

FB, they didn't change 'so much'...our Democrats were apparently always RED but our media/TV producers, etc., decided that people could draw inferences against the LEFT (Gasp!) so that was that, as the piece said. GOogle it and see for yourself.
Pure and simple media bias again.

Ticker said...

Thank you Z. Why else would the leftist want to keep "producers" around?

Ticker, I guess it's only OUR IDIOT LEFTISTS who don't understand because they seem to HATE the successful/producers in our OWN country! Tax them to death, get the media to declare anybody successful a money-grubbing capitalist pig, etc etc...
