Let's VOTE

So, do you think the Republican House and the larger number of Republicans in the Senate will change the awful future Obama'd plotted for us?   Do you think the Republicans will really take care of business?

Let's get a vote going!  And which Republicans do you think will be the hardest working, most true to what they promised America while campaigning, that which got them elected?

No Black Panthers are waiting around my blog that I know of.........feel free to click on COMMENTS and comment unassailed :-)

thanks!

Nothing Obama wants can happen without significant Republican legislative support.

Any funding for Obamacare is a non-starter. I'm not optimistic about this. Newly elected Republican Congressmen are talking about onlu "stripping parts of it."

No, you jackwagons. Dismantle the entire thing and fund none of it.

KILL THE BILL!

I didn't get that impression from the Sunday morning shows, Beamish.....we have to be realistic and it sounds like they can't dismantle the whole thing, but they can get VERy tough and try.
I agree with "kill the bill!" but they don't have the numbers in the senate.

I hate to say it, but the Republicans have gone the way of the Whigs.

There are some good ones, of course, but it's 5:30 am and my brain isn't working well yet...

To a certain extent, some will try.

But politicians of all stripes make all sorts of promises they can't keep.

And let's remember that BHO still has the power of veto, and overriding his veto will not be easy, particularly with the mainstream media shilling for Obama. See THIS at CNN:

if the House does manage to repeal the health care bill, such a move would likely meet strong obstacles in the Democrat-controlled Senate and White House.

Ducky's here said...

1. There were no complaints of intimidation.

2. The 1 (one) individual with a baton was told to move and moved.

3. The BUSH (i.e. Chucklenuts) justice department dismissed the case for lack of any evidence of intimidation or conspiracy.

Now why bother mentioning this to right wingers who don't much care about facts but like to get their new from sensationalized sources like rabies radio or World Net Daily? Because until we can look honestly at questions like medical care prices or energy prices the Rethug congress will just kick the can down the street and we get nowhere.

Ducky, you sound more silly every time you bring this up.
LOOK AT THE VIDEO, my link has it. thanks.

Imus this morning is hilarious; I'm watching it now.
BUT, he was all over the republicans for not approving the first responder bill right away...of course, the Dems, with a Dem congress, sat on it for the last 2 years and pushed it thru the Lame Duck period, but..nobody mentions that but the wonderful Bernard McGuirk.
THEN, Imus drools all over the liberal awful SHep Smith on FOX for standing up to the Republicans, standing up for Jon Stewart who championed signing the bill no matter what...
Turns out the bill passed AFTER having 3 BILLION dollars of ridiculous pork taken out of it.
IMUS says "So what...those are just facts, facts don't count"...

you can't make this stuff up

Thanks for proving my point , z.

My pleasure, Ducky.
I wonder how you'd be screaming if they were white supremacist thugs out there with nightsticks :-)
Americans don't put up with that...that we don't have a DOJ that cares that people were intimidated is a big problem, I'll admit.

They don't need the numbers in the Senate.

Just don't bring anything, ANYTHING from the Senate to the House floor at all unless it is Obamacare repeal legislation.

No appropriations budgets, nothing. No one red cent on any federal spending for anything until Obamacare is repealed.

There's "get tough" and there's what Republicans are really going to do. Unfortunately, they're not the same.

They may not be able to kill the bill, or overide a veto in the Senate, but the House can starve it to death since the House has the purse strings, if they'll have the intestinal fortitude to pull them.

I am not having high expectations. Let's see how it turns out.

But if they don't fix anything or are behaving like statists, then they can't be surprised if nobody is motivated in 2012 or a tea party candidate is running for president, dividing the votes. That's the risk in front of them.

Z said...

the biggest risk to the Republicans in this new class is the media; they'll constantly make it look like Republicans don't care. That will be the mantra the next few years, watch for it.
They don't care if you die because you got no health care because of them.
They don't care if children starve.
They don't care...about ANYTHING.
Obviously, they need to explain what's happening; WHY we can't afford Obamacare, and why it would be MUCH better to go slowly and start implementing legislation that actually WORKS as the Republicans tried to do but were kept from participating......

It will be up to the Republicans to explain the situations as clearly as possible and hope the leftwing media shows a glimmer of honesty for a change.

Sort of like the First Responders bill I mentioned in another comment; 3 BILLION dollars of pork cut from a bill BY THE REPUBLICANS is a good thing; why couldn't Republicans explain that was the problem when it looked like they weren't 'caring'? Why couldn't they have reminded America that the Democrats hadn't passed it the first 2 yrs of Obama's admin?
They're stupid about explaining situations and they'd better grow up.

Z said...

by the way, did you hear the Obama henchman threatening that it will be 'insanity' that causes an economic collapse if the Republicans won't raise the debt ceiling?
Of course, raising the debt ceiling will make us just another crap country like Greece, but maybe that's what they want?
I understand the intricacies of this are tough but what about CUTTING COSTS?
The mantra's out in the media already (it's everywhere) for Obama; they set it up on the Sunday morning shows; If the Republicans don't approve raising the debt ceiling it'll be the worst thing that ever happened in America...unprecedented, etc etc.
ANYTHING the Right does now will look bad, compliments of the Obama media machine.
perfect

Z said...

now I'm hearing Peter Marajanian, Dem operative, say that not raising the debt ceiling is just trying to gain political points...it's only catering to the Tea Party.
The other new mantra is how the economy's finally improving so well (WHAT?) and so the Republicans will be to blame if they don't go along with the plans....
This is amazing........boy, these people are GOOD. They get their memo and they proceed.

FrogBurger said...

The left treats symptoms not the roots of problems:
- Debt: let's increase the debt ceiling
- Unemployment: let's send checks
- Poverty: let's send more checks

That's how they think.

If the Republicans are smart they'll communicate simply using the credit card example: If you're in debt and on the verge of bankruptcy, do you ask to increase your balance?

2011 will be shaky because cities and states are going bankrupt. People are already moving away from municipal bonds. Not a good sign.

The Republicans will submit a bill to repeal Obamacare. They've conceded it's symbolic because it will be vetoed even if they get Dem votes for it's passage in the Senate. The veto however, no doubt cannot be overridden.

I agree it should be presented over and over, forcing Obama veto after veto, reminding the electorate of the steamrolling the public withstood the last two years.

Also, there are the states' lawsuits, but who knows how long that will take. The admnistration will drag that out as long as they can, before it makes it to the Supreme Court, while implementing what they can of Obamacare.

It's hard to say who will be the hardest working, but I'll stick my neck out and take a shot.

Issa, Bachmann, DeMint, Pence, Ryan, Cantor, and West, Rubio, and other tea party backed candidates although the freshmen are hampered because they're back benchers. They'll have to stand together as a block to have an impact. On the other hand, there are alot of them, and they vote!

We have to remember there are Senate seats which are up in 2012! There are Senators who will be looking over their shoulders hoping to be re-elected. Democrats and Republicans alike.

Of course that election includes the Housemembers.

I'm going to include Senator McConnell and Congressman/Speaker Boehner which is a hope more than a prediction.

I am heartened that Congress now look as though they're willing to wrest some power back from the executive branch, which the 111th Congress relinquished to the Obama administration. They must gain back that authority, and their relevance.

Issa has said that the administraton is using the EPA, and other departments to regulate without the consent of Congress, or law, bypassing them altogether. That has to stop.

Executive orders are not backed by law, as evidenced by the fact the feds are paying for abortions, regardless of Obama's signing an executive order banning it. What a scam!

Get ready for more hearings and oversight. No more free reign for this thugocracy. We can only hope, but we'll hold their feet to the fire. The tea party's not going away!

Already, GOP'ers are trying to increase the debt ceiling.

Burt Prelutsky as a similar question.

He answers the question in the following article posted in the Patriot Post. The link is provided for those brave enough to read a load of truth.

When I witnessed the weakness of the Republicans in the Lame Duck Session. They lost my respect and any hope I had in change.

As of right now, they are powerless to overturn the Obamacare.

Why do we need a takeover of one-sixth of America's GDP to provide insurance to the 12% of Americans that don't have or don't want it?

Is that so hard to say?

Ticker said...

"Why do we need a takeover of one-sixth of America's GDP to provide insurance to the 12% of Americans that don't have or don't want it?"

Because it has ZERO to do with providing anyone health care and 1000% about CONTROL of your life and mine. It really is that simple.

The tea party's not going away!

And if it means the GOP has to go down the toilet and the Dems win, I really don't care.

I'd rather have the Dems deal with the mess and be blamed for it than having the GOP behaving like Dems and attach conservative values to the failure when they're statists or corporate socialists.

Z,

I really don't have much optimism about it. When I notice the frontrunners for President in '12 from the GOP, it is an ugly sight, just more of the sickening same. I also believe a few will try but they'll likely be met with a wet blanket by Newt Gingrich types. Forgive my negativity, but that's what I see. But, also, it renews by joy in realizing that my Hope lies elsewhere than this world & politicians!

Thanks Ticker for the list. Senators Bennett and Gregg, are gone.

The rest, call them, email them, find out which ones are up for re-election in 2012, and let them know you'll donate to their primary opponents. You'll remember them in two years!

Concerning the tax extension vote. Does anyone think if they hadn't voted for it during the lame duck session, the taxes wouldn't have gone up? Of course they would have.

Do you think it would have been easy to keep it across the board as it was before and is now? That it wouldn't have been delayed and delayed by Obama, Reid, and his cohorts?

That it would likely have been limited to those below $250,000 a year, or stalemated, gridlocked? If that happened the tax extension would have been dead and taxes automatically increased. So, I understand why it was voted in during the lame duck session.

On the other issues I agree that the Republicans who voted for them were wrong and they're rinos who should be on our list to fight next election if they're up for re-election.

"And if it means the GOP has to go down the toilet and the Dems win, I really don't care."

FB, I do care. We haven't even begun yet. Let's see what happens shall we? We don't have the luxury of time to give up or give in. We've been steamrolled by the dems, we can lean on the Republicans, but it takes activism and involvement.

I refuse to wring my hands and say "uncle", and it isn't productive to throw everything over the side because things aren't exactly the way we want them to be, when we haven't even begun the new Congress.

There's alot on the Republicans' plate to deal with. I'm willing to wait and see what they do before I cry foul! It's going to be tough, and it's going to be frustrating, but we're in the game and we weren't before, and that's a plus.

If they blow it, they're toast, and so are we. So, it's up to us to hold their feet to the fire!

Pris, we do have to hold their feet to the fire and we have to hold the media's feet to the fire, too. I blame a LOT of the problems today on them...they've been so dishonest in portraying Republicans' motives, etc.

I think there's an amazing group of Republicans in there now, Pris named a good list of them, I'd add Mike Kelly......and a few others. They're angry, they're smart, and they've got to do what they need to do whether the leftist media calls this 'politics' or not..

Anonymous said...

Z, I couldn't agree more. Nothing that's worthwhile is easy, but it can be done if we hang in there.

You're right, there are some good people in positions of influence, and committment. They'll need our support and encouragement. So, let's get to it!

If House Republicans do not introduce Obamacare repeal legislation as stand alone legislation and also as attachments and riders on every other bill to be considered, they will lose what little patience and support I give them.

In fact, they need to declare the Obama administration a foreign terrorist organization and demand Democrats sign on to it as a sign they're willing to be bipartisan.

Pris, we bloggers and commenters may need to launch a campaign to start inundating these good guys with congratulations emails the minute they do something good. I'm not sure that's not quite a good idea on our part :-)

All we can do is hope and pray the newly-elected majority will have the intestinal fortitude to follow through on their campaign promises and hang tough.

Pelosi, Reid, and Obama -- The Internal Terrorist Triumvirate -- serve the interests of SATAN, The Great Deceiver, in my never humble opinion. In practical terms no matter what thy all themselves, they are MARXISTS. There is nothing desirable or even faintly acceptable about Marxism. Claiming to be a moderate Marxist is tantamount to saying "I'm just a wee bit pregnant."
